What Calls You?

Wed Mar 2, 2011 6:23 am (PST)
Todayâs message â¦.. well⦠here you goâ¦
Donât worry about what or who others want you to be or what they think
you should be ⦠BE YOU
Donât constrict yourself with thoughts of ⦠Iâm suppose to be this
or that ⦠allow your given gifts to surface and be the best YOU that
you can.
When you stop trying so hard to become .. you realize you already are.
There is something in all of us that we are guided toward more than
anything else⦠take that and allow yourself to be open to whatever it
is that calls to you⦠build on it and be the best that you can â¦
READ MY WORDS CAREFULLY â¦.
I did not say âBE THE BESTâ I said âbe the best YOU that YOU
can beâ
All we can ever aim to do is the best that we as individuals can doâ¦
No need to worry about competing with the Jonesâ
Focus more on developing what you are drawn to most and not only will
you be happier doing it .. you will flourish!
Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Today my instructor made a derogatory statment about Witches. I am already
pissed at this instructor but today was enough to break the camal's back. He was
having trouble with something and he said "this is going to be a real Witch". Um
excuse me I am a Witch and I am not a trouble maker or evil. At the end of the
class I told him about how he offended me. I was thinking to myself if they
can't burn us or take our children away from us then they will mock us. So I
aked him "do you know what the WADL and Wicca is? He said he had no idea. I told
him that WADL was the Witches Anti Deflamation League and that Wicca was a
religion for Witches. (Yes, people I know not all Witches are Wiccan but for
those who do not know and not to confuse them I use the term WICCA) He had no
idea. I told him that I am a Witch. I told him that I do not guzzle down blood.
I do not sacrifice animals. I do not sacrifice babies. I told him as a Witch I
love nature. I worship the Goddess and God. I believe in Divine beings. I belive
in helping others and being good to people. I believe in love and life. But
unfortuantly I can not ride a broom, that does not happen. Then he appologised
and said he did not know about Wicca and he did not know that Witches existed.
Then he made another accidental deragatory comment and said he was refering to
those who wear pointy hats (Holly wood's version) Again I corrected him and said
"thats like calling all Jews cheap and saying they all have big noses. Thats
like saying all Germans are Nazis. Thats like say all Islamics are fasicst
terrorist who want to slam a plane into every building they see. I said its
unfair and racist. I recieved another apology. I was unsure if I wanted to
expose myself yet again but I am tired of Witches being laughed at. i am tired
of Witches being viewed as ugly old ladies. I am tired of Witches as being
referred to as Evil. I wished I was wearing my pentagram today to show it with
pride while confronting him.

Good on you! I have times in class that I would like to run out and puked because they speak of all the different 'tests' they had for those they believed to be witches. I've ywt to make myself public. To mostly anyone. They believe witchcraft and Pentagrams are evil and that we eat children or use ' black magic'. Magic does not have color. 'Tis what you make it.
Well I just wanted to congratulate you for being able to affect a small part of your community.

Indeed. They do not yell at a student for praying at my school. I have a friend who worships cows and when she brought a very small plastic cow to pray to at lunch, the confiscated it

Dragon Raises Head - On the second day of the second lunar month, the Chinese eat dragon-scale cakes and dragon-whisker noodles. No one does needlework as needles might injure the dragon's eyes. Earlier this day was called Mid(spring) Harmony. Blackburn, Bonnie and Leofranc Holford-Strevens, Oxford Companion to the Year, Oxford University Press 1999
Celebration of Aegir -This day is sacred to Aegir, Nordic god of the Sea. His wife Ran likes to sink ships then care for the sailors whom she has drowned.
Collop Monday/Rose Monday - In Mainz, this was called Rose Monday.
St Winnold

Then comes Chad,
Then comes Winnold roaring like mad.
If itâs not stormy and windy the first three days in March, itâs saving itself for the three borrowing days at the monthâs end. The winds of March were considered to dry out the fields and make the soil right for seeding.
Hina Matsuri/Doll Festival - The first day of the month-long Japanese festival honoring the Emperor and Empress. All unmarried females set up a display of dolls, usually on tiered shelves, with the Emperor and Empress doll at the top, dressed in wedding attire, and their retinue (court ladies, musicians, ministers and guards) on the lower tiers. Flowering sprigs of peach are placed in vases on the top shelf where they symbolize marital bliss and represent the feminine virtues of gentility, tranquility and composure.
The dolls are valuable heirlooms, passed down from mother to daughter. If there is not a set to pass down or in families with several daughters, new dolls are purchased by family, friends or parents as gifts for the new baby girl. Some girls receive a new doll on each birthday. Women display the dolls until they marry (then they save them to pass down to their daughter).
During the month the dolls are displayed, people go to each other's homes to visit the dolls. Many stories tell about the dolls talking among themselves during the night, eating food left out for them, and even growing their own hair.
Like the Western superstitions about the bad luck which occurs if you leave your Christmas decorations up past Candlemas, the Japanese believe the display must be taken down promptly on April 3. If not, the owner will have trouble marrying. Apparently the dolls serve as a sort of charm, inviting the marital bliss exemplified by the Emperor and Empress into the life of the girl or young woman. In smaller sets, the Emperor and Empress are often replaced with rabbits.
In the early part of the century, Hina-Matsuri provided a rare chance for a young Japanese girl to invite her friends to a party, at which they feasted on sweets and foods offered to the dolls. Sometimes they actually prepared and cooked these offerings. They drank shirozake, a sweet mild rice wine, and ate hishi mochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes), fruit-shaped candy, tiny white and red dt-sties of osekihan (glutinous rice boiled with red beans) and colored wheat something.
In earlier times, the dolls were made of paper and ill fortunes and sickness could be transferred to the dolls, which were then cast into the nearest brook or river (see the Roman celebration of Mamuralia, March 14).
This day is also known as Momo-no-Sekku or Peach Blossom Festival. Originally celebrated on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month (April 3rd this year), it more closely coincided with the blooming of the peach blossoms.
From a firsthand account following her visit to Japan by my friend Shirley Dawson-Myers published in her now hibernating Hazel Grove Musings, and from this website: http://mothra.rerf.or.jp/ ENG/Hgiroshima/ Festivals/ 36.html
Holi is a Hindu celebration of spring, good harvest, hope and fertility. It is the most colorful of Indias festivals and takes place after the full moon in early March.
It originates from the legend of evil demon Holika. Her brother Hiranyakashipu wanted his son dead as he worshiped lord Vishnu who killed Hiranyakashipus brother. Holika was immune to fire and was asked to hold the son on a bonfire but due to his strong faith he survived and Holika burned. So today on the first day of the festival the bonfires are lit marking the end of winter and welcoming spring, but also signifying victory of good over evil. On the second day, Dhuleti, everything gets drenched in coloured powder and water. People go out into the streets shedding their inhibitions, dancing, feasting, praying and singing.
There are variations on traditions throughout the country with celebrations starting a week earlier in towns of Nandagow and Barsana, the two centres of the festival.

Goddess of The Day: TARA
Anniversary of Pioneer 10 Launching (United States)
Themes: Universal Unity; Peace; Cooperation; Destiny; Energy;Spirituality
Symbols: Star
About Tara: In Hindu mythology, Tara is a Star Goddess who encompasses all time and the spark of life. She extends this energy to us, fulfilling our spiritual hunger. In so doing, Tara strengthens our understanding of the Universe and its mysteries and gives us a glimpse of our destiny.
Tara's name literally means "star." In works of art she is depicted as beautiful as the silver turret points of the night sky, young and playful. From her celestial home Tara challenges us to live life fully no matter the day or season, looking to the stars and our hearts to guide us.
To Do Today: I cannot help but believe that Tara was standing by whispering in scientists' ears as they launched Pioneer 10 into space on this date in 1972, bearing a message of peace to anyone who might find it. In this spirit of exploration and hope, today is definitely a time to reach for the stars! Try something new or set some bold goals for yourself.
If you live in an area where you can observe the night sky, go out tonight and absorb Tara's beauty firsthand. As you watch, let the starlight and Tara's energy trickle into your soul. Make a wish on the first star that appears, and then find concrete ways to help that wish come true. If you see a falling star, it is Tara coming to join you!

Using Bay for Protection Spell

Using Bay for Protection Spell
.
The bay laurel leaf, associated with the element of fire, has long been cherished by Witches as a symbol for consecration, protection, and healing. Kitchen Witches use it whole to season stews, soups, and sauces with prosperity, love, and protection. Note that bay leaves should be removed from the dish before serving; if ingested whole, they cause indigestion. Bay may also be used as an herbal element of protection in dream sachets and medicine bags. Hang a bay laurel wreath in your kitchen or near your back door. Write a protection charm on a large bay leaf, and tuck it beneath your mattress or into your wallet. Evoke the power of bay by saying:
May the fire of bay
protect me by love,
not by fear.

Kojiki, Japanese Scriptures

Standing on the riverbank
the sun goddess asked for a sword.
It was the length of ten hands
and it hung by the side of her brother,
the god of stormy weather.
He handed it to her, and she
broke it apart. It fell into jewels
in her hands, jewels which she washed
in a sacred well, rinsing them clean
as they sang to her. Then she ate them.
She chewed them up and spat them out
and from the jewels which had been a sword
came a miracle: three lovely children.
~Kojiki, Japanese Scriptures
On this day in Japan, the feast of Hina Matsuri - the festival of girls and their dolls - is celebrated. Many cultures have such celebrations, moments that recognize the goddess power residing in girls. Recent psychological studies confirm the wisdom of such traditions, revealing that girls between the ages of seven and eleven are full of feminine wisdom and self-knowledge that, alas, is later lost and must be painstakingly reclaimed.
In the late days of winter, it is especially appropriate to connect with the inner power and wisdom of the girl archetype. Full of energy and wild potential, somber at times and racing through live at others, the girl moves through the goddess' many phases incessantly. Free to imagine herself as anything she desires, she is unfettered and full of hope. We have each within us such a being, a girl who never dies despite our age. As winter moves toward spring, let us find her within us again.
