It's Time!

It's Time....
There comes a point in your life when you have to let go of old ideas,
behaviors and/or beliefs...
Throughout our lifetime many things will come and go as we need them...
Be careful not to cling too tightly to any one thing in your life...
when it's purpose has come and gone we need to release it from our grasp
so that something new can come in and help us in our growth and in our
travels along this path.
I'm not saying give up everything you ever believed in ... but more so
ideas, beliefs or behaviors that are no longer suited for you at this
moment .. this place on your journey.
It may just be allowing our ideas, behaviors and beliefs to
transform.... The stubborn part of us may want to stick to what we have
always done... but it is like this... if you get stuck in the mud and
all you do is put your foot on the gas ... spinning and spinning to get
out ... what happens is that you just get buried deeper in that mud pit
.. there is a chance that it may finally work for you and the traction
may find something to take hold of and push you out of the mud ... but
there is also a chance that it won't ... how long are you going to do
the "Let's wait and see" game?
So what I'm saying ... is that it's time to step back and take another
look at where you are and what you are doing and what you are thinking
at this time... there is a change that needs to be made in order for you
to get out of that mud and move on. So what are you waiting for? You
already know the change that needs to be made.. don't fear the road
ahead... listen to that inner knowing and march on!
Many Blessings,

Bob Walter/Joseph Campbell Exec Dir on Voices of the Sacred Feminine
Posted by: "Karen Tate" karentate108@ca.rr.com specialjourn
Tue Mar 8, 2011 3:11 pm (PST)
Greetings Friends and Family,
Be sure to catch some new news/articles and upcoming guests in March at
the end of this radio show announcement --
Please tune in to our awesome show this Wednesday at 6PM PST/9PM EST or
later from the archives at your convenience --
_*New Show this Wednesday*_*....*
For the entire show I have with me *Bob Walter*, Executive Director of
the *Joseph Campbell Foundation*. We'll be discussing what it means to
be a "mythic activist", the importance of Joseph Campbell's work in the
world, the hero/heroine's journey, and how rational thought, and the I
versus WE mentality, replaced Goddess. I also plan to ask Bob: What
happens when myths become not metaphors but fact (aka religion) and how
it contributes to the agony of the world. When one understands the
psychology of myth and it's role in religion where does that leave most
people on the subject of God/ess? The Athiest? Can we reconcile
believing in God/ess with understanding myth and how can we reconcile
myth with your own spirituality/religion? And more....
Did you miss these past shows? You can access them in the archives -
_*March 2*_ - ***Pam Wells*, author and artist of the beautiful and deep
tarot-like deck Affirmations for the Everyday Goddess Book and Cards
discussing: *Goddess as mystery, change, inner knowledge, connection
with the One, the importance of the unconscious mind/intuitive mind and
moving from victim to empowerment to love which is Goddess energy *
*Julie Loar* - author of Goddesses for Every Day discussing discovering
the *Goddess through astrology and symbols, including some talk on a
popular subject here - Lilith. **
*
_*February 23*_- */Charles Eisenstein/*, author of the *Ascent of
Humanity, Sacred Economics* will discuss our topic, A Revolution in
Human Beingness. And if that sounds a bit too vague or broad, I'm going
to ask Charles about his ideas for a new paradigm for humanity; circle
giving, being in co-creative partnership with earth, distinguishing
between the feminine/masculine Yin and Yang and how our state of
starvation for connection has resulted in our addiction to food, drugs,
shopping, sex, tv, electronics. Charles has been called one of the most
optimistic people around about nature and humanity. Hear his insights
and recommendations.
_*
*_*/Allan G. Johnson/*, author and speaker will discuss *class, gender
and privilege* and his fiction book on *domestic violence* titled The
First Thing and the Last. Hear how racism, patriarchy, economics, and
capitalism all work with white and male privilege and hear his views on
Christian privilege that seems so pervasive. Listen as he talks about
the dilemmas of manhood and fatherhood and how we can overcome these
obstacles of class, gender and privilege.
_*February 21*_ - *Carol Niethhammer, author of Daughters of the Earth:
The Lives and Legends of American Indian Women. * Hear how these women
actually had more rights and power than white women of their time. They
were guardians of the hearth and sometimes rulers and warriors, leading
men into battle, managing the affairs of their people, sporting war
paint as well as necklaces and earrings - with the right to divorce and
enjoy her sexuality. Tune in to hear about these least known American
Indian women.
*Alysia Tromblay*, founder of the Bon Future Fund who will tell us about
the *Bon* *people of Nepal* and their relationship with the *Great
Mother* they call Sherab Jamma - who is the center of their universe.
Time: 6PM Pacific/9PM Eastern. You'll have to make adjustments for
your time zone. And the show is available later from the archives where
you might listen at your convenience.

* Marguerite Rigoglioso - author of When God Was a Virgin Mother...and
the Eleusinian Mysteries Illuminated. Very interesting stuff including
an older Athena - the one that wasn't birthed from Zeus' head. And in
our talk, we'll discuss a new interpretation for Persephone's rape by
Hades and much more.
* Laura Amazzone - author of Goddess Durga and Sacred Female Power will
discuss the many faces of Durga and how/why they are useful to women and
men today.
* Gary Bobroff and KD Farris - Archetypal Identity is our topic as we
discuss how we can recognize the archetypes that lie behind what
motivates us and provides us with our greatest satisfaction in the world

DailyOM - Living A Day In Grace
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:
March 7, 2011
A Glimpse Of Perfection
Living A Day In Grace
Grace flows like a river through our lives reminding us that there is magic and power beyond what our eyes can see.
Grace is always with us. It flows like a river through our lives, artfully reminding us that there is magic and power beyond what our eyes can see. At times we catch its subtle beauty, like during chance meetings, near misses, and insights that seem to come from nowhere. Other times we experience grace in all its powerful surety such as when a job or relationship comes to an end. Though we may forget that this is grace at work too, it is indeed influencing our lives, helping us to move forward and take the next step. Grace exists in all situations, in every moment, yet all too often we may overlook its presence.
Imagine how it would feel to live an entire day in grace, to fully appreciate that your day is unfolding in absolute perfection. Whereas usually you might miss the magic in ordinary events and interactions, on this day you would recognize them all as little miracles. Perhaps you could begin with your first deep breaths in the morning, becoming aware that there is an abundant supply of air for you to breathe. Your lungs know just how to carry oxygen to your blood, and your blood knows where to carry it from there. This is grace at work. You might appreciate the brilliant sunshine, the warm summertime rain, or the possibilities for learning that greet you at every turn. You might notice the ease with which you do your job or laugh with a close friend. These things are also grace. Even laying your head down at the end of this day and resting in the stillness of night is grace.
With each opportunity you give yourself to enjoy this current of benevolence, you may discover a deeper peace. Your faith may strengthen and your heart may open. You might begin to wonder if struggle is really all that necessary after all. By living this one day in grace, you might open the door to many more.

Planetary Healing This Friday and Psychic Fair This Saturday!
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Tue Mar 8, 2011 6:54 pm (PST)
Greetings Lightworkers!
Spring is nearly here and this Friday and Saturday, Peaceful Paths in Butler, NJ will be simply buzzing with energy!
If you have been feeling low on energy, or perhaps frazzled in the winds of chaos lately, it is time to rebalance and re-harmonize yourself! This Friday, I will be available at the store from 12pm - 6pm for tarot readings, chakra rebalancing, shamanic reiki sessions, drum medicine sessions, and more! Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are welcome as well! 15 minutes for $20, 30 minutes for $35, and 60 minutes for $60.
Then, in the evening, a very special and sacred circle, Green Medicine For Our Planet, will begin at 7pm. As a community united with a singular, loving intent, we will work in ceremony to send healing energy to the Earth and all who live on this Earth. With so much disharmony around us, this is one way we can work in harmony with the elements and the magick of nature to create a positive change. Feel free to bring drums, rattles, notebook/pen, pillows/blankets to sit on, and something that represents life to you for the altar. Space is limited, so please RSVP to me to reserve your spot! General details are below.
The buzzing continues this Saturday as Peaceful Paths will be hosting a Psychic Fair from 11:30am - 5:30pm! Prices are reduced to $1/minute for tarot readings, chakra rebalancing ceremonies, drum medicine sessioins, and shamanic reiki sessions for this event. Appointments are recommended to avoid waiting, but walk-ins are also welcomed.
I look forward to seeing you soon! Please feel free ot share this information as called :)

Peaceful Paths, 7 High Street, Butler, NJ 07405
Love Donation: $25.00 (sliding scale available)
Green represents life. This is the kind of transformative energy and magick that our planet is in need of. We witness the disharmony of our People â" disconnected and crying for help. The Animal Nations â" their homes being invaded and destroyed by our People. The Rooted Ones â" whose Medicine is carelessly uprooted and forgotten. The Four Elements in Nature (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) â" echoing the disharmony in our weather patterns.
What can we do to help? By working with a united intent in community, great healing shifts and magick happens. When we are able to connect to our omnipotent life force energy, and engage with the Mysteries of Life on this planet, a powerful combination of Love, Birth, and Transcendence ensues. We will gather this night to help create a harmonic shift within ourselves and our planet. Through ceremony, sacred dance and song, we will understand what each one of us can do to help and together create a new âcode of harmonyâ for our community.

Group Past Life
Regression
By
Bridget
Past
life regressions are a process that allows you to experience one or more of your
past lives by putting you into a light state of hypnosis. This allows your
subconscious to remember back to a life time before the one you are in
now. You may see, hear, smell, or just know that you have experienced what your
mind is accessing. This can be a wonderful tool to help with issues in this life
time, helping to understand behavioral problems like phobias, or even picking
bad relationships. Past life regression can also just be an enjoyable way to see
what we've experienced in past life times also.

Westboro Baptist Church and free speech Supreme court Allows it

Paganism / Wicca
Paganism / Wicca
By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide
The Supreme Court of the United States has handed down a decision in the case of Westboro Baptist Church and free speech, and the ruling is in the church's favor1. You may recall that WBC has been battling with Albert Snyder, the father of a fallen Marine, over whether or not they had a legal right to shout their anti-gay, hate-filled messages2 at the young man's funeral. As if that wasn't bad enough, last year Snyder was ordered to pay WBC's court costs3, when he lost a lawsuit in a lesser court.
Today, the Supreme Court ruled 8 - 1 that "members of Westboro Baptist
Church had a right to promote what they call a broad-based message on
public matters such as wars."
The big question here is, does a person's right to speak trump the right of another person to grieve for a lost loved one? Certainly, the
freedom to speak our mind applies to everyone, even bigoted cretins like Fred Phelps and his cronies at Westboro -- but what about the rights of Albert Snyder, and all of the other people who have to bury their dead
with Phelps and his gang shrieking their invective in the background?
There's a reason we don't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, "Speech is powerful. It can stir
people to action, move them to tears of both joy and sorrow, and -- as
it did here -- inflict great pain. On the facts before us, we cannot
react to that pain by punishing the speaker... Westboro's funeral
picketing is certainly hurtful and its contribution to public discourse
may be negligible. As a nation we have chosen a different course -- to
protect even hurtful speech on public issues to ensure that we do not
stifle public debate."
Justice Samuel Alito cast the one dissenting vote, saying, the church's
"outrageous conduct caused petitioner great injury, and the court now
compounds that injury by depriving petitioner of a judgment that
acknowledges the wrong he suffered... In order to have a society in
which public issues can be openly and vigorously debated, it is not
necessary to allow the brutalization of innocent victims like
petitioner."
Westboro has continuously picketed funerals around the country, blaming
America's tolerance of homosexuality for pretty much every bad thing
that has happened to Americans anywhere.
Meanwhile, many states are trying to stop the group's tactics at a
municipal level, and are enacting laws which regulate picketing near
funeral locations.

I understand the right to free speech and that is perfectly
fine, but for the people that ARE grieving WBC should have some respect
and there should be a way to keep them away from the funerals. I donât
know what it is, but what they are doing is wrong and they are not
having an effect on the dead by shouting about them going to hell or
whatever, they are hurting the still living, grieving family and
friends. They disgust me on so many levels and the spokes womanâs creepy plastic smile makes me think she should be drug tested on a regular
basis. Maybe she should try losing one of those 11 precious children she has and have some rude loud people come protest at their funeral
shouting about he or she going to hell. Obviously with that huge family
and all that money her and her daddieâs law firm are dragging in, she
feels very privileged. I have absolutely no warm feelings about this
woman or this organization and they can all kiss my homosexual loving,
pagan believing, peace seeking, one-love a$$.

Iâm all for freedom to speak your mind but there are times Iâm glad to be British where we prosecute people for actions likely to
cause public unrest and inciting to riot. The WBC is a bunch of
hate-mongers, the freedom to speak your mind is all well and good but
unfounded abuse and causing pain to others goes against the teaching of
the faith they so strongly claim to represent. I wonder if theyâd do it at a muslim funeral? probably not brave enough

What I do not understand is why the WBC is apparently allowed to worship in peace and quiet every Sunday? Where are the loud,
racous, protests 30 feet outside of the WBC church doors every time they hold any kind of a service?
Make them experience what they inflict on others.
It would be just. SCOTUS has ruled that it is a protected activity. It might even be effective, though that possibility seems remote.

Iâm all for free speech. In Westboroâs case they are just
showing everyone that they are nothing more than HYPOCRITES. Most
xtians I know donât like them. Because of this little cult of haters;
Iâve heard people shielding the mourners from their spewing of hate.
So, in a way, it brings out the good in the communities. Hereâs the

I think this is a good idea. But only frothing fundies seem to
have the energy to be hateful. Peace loving people could go shield the
mourners, and maybe we should. And kudos to the ones that do and have
taken a stand. We seem to want to ignore the hateful idiots, hoping that they will go away, but they never do. Blessed be

Surely they can be arrested for disturbing the peace? In
Australia they could also be arrested and charged with creating a public nuisance and escorted away. The right to free speech does not give a
person the right to harass and harm others (even verbally), so I am
stunned to read the judgesâ verdicts. What this âchurchâ has done to
this man is abominable and if the legal system cannot stop them, it
needs to be changed so that it can stop them. For this group to have
won the court case and thier victim (the father of the soldier) to have
to pay the court costs of the group is a huge miscarraige of Justice and a travesty, as well as a tradgedy.

So the next thing that will happen is a grieving family member is going to be armed at one of the funerals and shoot a protester.
Hopefully they will get off due to temporary insanity. The blood will be on the Supreme Courts hands.

When I heard the ruling yesterday I have to say I was furious. These service people are fighting for their rights! And this is the
ultimate thanks they get. Pure evil. But here is the point. The ying
and the yang. The majority Christian community would want to stop many
groups from having a voice, including the WBC. But where would the line be drawn. The wbc has to follow local laws concerning where they
protest from, and they know the law and follow it. Would I like to go
and protest every week at the wbc? Yes, find out when a member dies and throw a party at the funeral. You bet. But I am not wasting my
precious time on these people. If they come to my town I will go out to protect the families they are hurting. Like the angel wings of love.
But will I go to the level of evil to these attention seekers. No.

SCOTUS got it wrong. This isnât an issue of free speech, in my opinion. WBC is guilty of: slander, hate speech [calling people faggots and whores], invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of
emotional distress. Check out the link and watch the short video:
http://www.koco.com/news/ 25833473/ detail.html
âThe Lord curses them by killing Oklahomaâs children and casting them into hell. Thank God for more dead children in Oklahoma.â
Also, arenât churches tax exempt? Why is WBC tax exempt when they are taking such a direct role in politcal affairs?
This infuriates me. How can there be nothing we can do about it?! WBC is evil!

I am so sick and tired of these people using the first
amendment to glorify hate and stupidity. These are the times when I
really wonder about America. From reading other comments here from
people outside of the USA it sounds like they have the right idea!
Arrest these people, remove them them from these funerals! Itâs just
common sense and common courtesy. And, as another person mentioned here, what happens when one of the mourners comes to the funeral armed and
shoots when of the protestors? Will they look upon the second amendment? Will they then take pity upon the person because their dead loved one
is being called horrible, hateful names? The American legal system is in need of an adjustment. Protect the innocent, punish the guilty, not the other way around! Their God must be weeping to have his name attached
to such an evil organization.

Sickening that a âchurchâ is involved in this kind of thing. I am not sure how any of them sleep at night. If they are Christians,
arenât they supposed to follow Jesusâ teachings? I am very confused and I donât know why other Christian churches arenât confronting this
âchurchâ. It gives religion a bad name and reminds me of one of the
many reasons Iâve chosen to focus on being a spiritual person instead of a religion one.

If people will just take a moment and look back at past
stories about WBC⦠they have been doing this for quite a long time⦠the
Phelps family is the most sickening vile group of people you will EVER
meet⦠they are a family of lawyers who use and abuse the law to make
their millions⦠yes millions⦠they are ALL millionaires because of
obscure laws. They are incendiary on PURPOSE because of this simple
reason: it pays. When they picket, if they are attacked or âabusedâ in
any way, the law states they get paid. Even though they are the ones
abusing the world. Truth be told, I hate that I have to agree with the
Supreme Courtâ" what the Phelpsâ are hoping is that the Supreme Court
rules against them. Because the MINUTE the Supreme Court says they are
unconstitutional, the Phelps will bring down legal firestorm on ALL gay
rights speeches and anything but their own narrowed point of view. Why?
Precedence. Thatâs why even though I donât agree, we have to allow them
to flap their gums; we just donât have to listen. Because our free
speech depends on allowing their horrible hate filled rhetoric.

Mikey has it right. There is no sense arguing WBC's position from some sort of theological standpoint; their main purpose is to exploit
this nation's laws in order to fill their own pocketbooks.
Money, nothing more, drives the WBC.

Iâm a massage therapist and had my own personal encounter with these people. A young man I was working on was dying from Aids. I did
an out call to their house because he was far too sick to get out. These people showed up and started shouting outside of their house.
-horrible things. The cops just stood there and watched the whole thing. Finally the neighbors went out and turned on their lawn sprinklers
driving these people back. One by one the neighbors all came out and
turned on their sprinklers. It was such a wonderful l thing to see that
silently each neighbor supported the grieving family in their own
peaceful way. WBC is a hatefilled cult led by a very sick person.

I like everyone here am appalled and horrified by the actions
of the WBC. It is causing communities to stand together and effectively drive off the sign toting loonies. If you are looking for who is
protecting the families I hope you will if nothing send blessing of
safety to The Patriot Guard Riders. They will come and park their
motorcycles which they keep running to drown out the singing and
shouting of the WBC and will use flags and their bodies to keep the
family from seeing or hearing the vile ranting of those ignorant hate
filled people. If you have a bike join up. You donât have to be a vet to join but a lot of them are. They are awesome people of all religons
races and walks of life who take there time to protect and honor the
fallen and their family.

Yelling âfireâ in a crowded theater is a different issue
entirely. That is an issue of safety. Yelling âfireâ may cause people
get trampled attempting to exit. It is also a case of âfalse alarmâ or
â911 abuse.â
While I do not agree that the church should picket a funeral and
shout obscenities at the people present, it is not the same thing.
Yes it is incredibly distasteful, but there is no threat of public
danger in the incident of church people shouting, âdown with gaysâ or
whatever. They are just being stupid and insulting.

WBC as another commenter said is exploiting the laws of the
land. And that is exactly correct. They do as much harm as they can
within the law. They are not typical. The rights that they exploit are
the same ones that protect the vast majority of peaceful voices,
including ours. Because of the way the government works on a very basic
level, a ruling against WBC would be a slippery slope, as it would
impinge upon the rights afforded by the First Amendment. It would set a
legal precedent that could limit the rights of everyone. They are
something we have to put up with and outsmart (until they break the law
or incite violence) as a consequence of having the same freedoms theyâre brutalizing for profit.

The First Amendment is a damned inconvenient thingâ"but itâs
the surest protection we have that the voice of the minority is not
suppressed by the majority.
I despise the WBC, and I really dislike the Supreme Court ruling, but the justices were right. What the WBC does does not equate to yelling
âFireâ in a public theater, which could be expected to result in panic
and physical harm.
If the WBC cannot picket today, which group will be shut down (and shut up) tomorrow?

I havenât read all the comments so Iâm not sure if any of this has been discussed yetâ¦
In my opinion (which of course seems so reasonable to me I canât figure
out why everyone doesnât feel this wayâ¦lol⦠not a funny subject though), the WBC isnât a church and should not be granted any of the privileges
of real houses of worship (or out door santuraries).
There are 71 members of this âchurchâ which is NOT associated with any
Baptist church or organization. Maybe the Baptist should take them to
court and make them take âbaptistâ out of their name.
Most of the members are from the same family, that of Fred Phelps⦠I do not grant him the title of Rev. Pastor or Minister.
This is a group family that promotes hate. I donât think they have much
support from anyone else. They make their money on law suits, and I
suppose some of them work at least part of the time.
This ruling, like the Citizenâs United ruling, shows us just how wrong
our US Supreme Court has gone. I was flabbergasted when I heard there
was only one Justice who dissented.
In my opinion, their âactivitiesâ are those of a well organized hate
group, their speech and signs are full of hate, and their activities are unAmerican. I would think they could be arrested under anti-stalking
laws at the very least, and though as far as I know they have not
actually perpetrated any physical violence, they should be treated as a
terrorist group and be treated as such.
This whole thing is despicable. This is not a matter of their ârightâ to free speech. This goes beyond yelling âfireâ in a crowded theater
since, as we all know, such speech is known to be the cause of many
violent acts perpetrated by outsiders spurred on by hate speech from any group.
My heart goes out to all the families that have had to bury their loved
ones with the words of these people still ringing in their heads (if not actually still heard).

To mabpagan, I understand your concern about the infringment on anyoneâs right to free speech. But I disagree with you.
While their hateful speech may not be the equivelent to yelling âfireâ
in a crowded theater, it is hate speech none-the-less. And words have
consequences. Or have we already forgotten the assasination attempt on
Rep. Gabriel Gifford?
A shooting incident in which 6 people were killed including a Judge.
This action was taken as a result of words spoken against Democrats, any Democrat.
Words have consequences and those using them should be held responsible for the actions they cause.
Thatâs my opinion anyway.

I too understand the importance of our First Amendment and the need to protect it for all. But I find the way that these protesters
are going about things to be more hurtful and detrimental to an open
discourse.
Now Iâm not sure if the courts would consider a funeral to be a
private or public function. I myself consider it to be a private one.
Iâm guessing that many others would as well. Therefore WBC would be
infringing on peopleâs right to privacy. It could be a starting point at least.

As I read this article, I started to do a slow burn and my
blood may be pretty close to boiling right now. Fred Phelps is the
epitome of everything thatâs wrong with organized religion. I do have to say that I have known many christians in my life and not only is Fred
Phelps NOT a christian, but heâs not much of a human being either. It
seems as though he may have a bit of âdemonâ blood in him. True
christians are tolerant of others. In fact, true christians arenât going to be spewing hate filled âmessagesâ to anyone. Instead, they DO try to âconvertâ those that donât believe as they do, but if you read what
christians are supposed to believe, youâre not going to find anyone like Fred Phelps and his group of hatemongers in that category. It sickens
me that Mr. Snyder and his family have had to endure the likes of
Phelps.
I am the parent of 2 teenagers that have a variety of different friends. Some of these friends are not only Wiccan or Pagan but theyâre also
gay. We have witnessed first hand what falling out of the closet has
done to some of these kids, including their parents throwing them out of the house if they didnât become straight. Of course, I do live in the
deep south where ignorance tends to abound about such things. We open
our home to any of these kids and offer them a place where they can be
themselves and still be loved.
I am not a violent person. It goes against everything I believe in.
However, Iâm fairly sure that if I came upon Fred Phelps and he was on
fire, Iâd either watch or just keep going.

This article and everything related to WBC makes me sick to my stomach. I hate that people can honestly believe that something this
horrible is right! As much as I dislike the ruling, itâs right. The US Constitution is based on these amendments and changing them could be a
disaster. I agree that we as a group of human beings need to silently

Get Ready for Ostara!: Day 1: Intro to Ostara

Get Ready for Ostara!
Day 1: Intro to Ostara
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
Welcome to the Seven-Day Sabbat e-course for Ostara! This week-long e-course will be delivered right to your mailbox each day for seven days. We'll be talking about ways to celebrate Ostara, which falls on or around March 21, the day of the spring equinox (if you're in the Southern Hemisphere, you'll be celebrating in September). To get started, let's talk a little bit about the history of Ostara, some of the gods honored at this time of year, and ways that the spring equinox is celebrated around the world.
Ostara History
The word Ostara is just one of the names applied to the celebration of the spring equinox on March 21. The Venerable Bede said the origin of the word is actually from Eostre, a Germanic goddess of spring. Of course, it's also the same time as the Christian Easter celebration, and in the Jewish faith, Passover takes place as well. This time of year was marked by many of our ancestors in different ways, and the observance has evolved from an agricultural milestone to a celebration of spring and new life. Read on to learn how the ancients recognized the equinox, and what it means to modern Pagans and Wiccans. Read More
Spring Equinox Around the World
While Pagans and Wiccans are celebrating Ostara, and Christians are observing Easter, it's important to remember that the dawning of spring has been observed for a long time in many other cultures as well, and still are celebrated in many different countries. From the ancient Egyptians to Russian folk festivals to an unusual Scottish tradition, there are celebrations of spring on a global scale at this time of year! Read More
Deities of Ostara
Coming hand in hand with those global cultural traditions, there are a number of deities who are often associated with the time of the spring equinox. From goddesses of flowers and fertility to gods who are killed and reborn, there are deities from nearly every pantheon and culture that are connected to the season of new life. Read More
Tomorrow: Legends and Lore
In tomorrow's lesson, we'll talk about some of the stories and mythology associated with this time of year, from an elusive Teutonic goddess to a Roman festival of motherhood!

Ever since our ancestors could first communicate, we have gathered to share our stories. We have passed along creation tales and tragic stories of love lost. We have repeated accounts of real heroism and simple stories of family history. When our forebears lived closer to the land and to each other, the practice of storytelling was imbued with ritual and occasion. Members of the tribe would often gather around the fire to hear their genealogy recited aloud by an elder or master storyteller. Listeners could track how their own lives, and the lives of their parents, interwove with the lives of the other tribe members, as everyoneâs ancient relatives once played out similar life dramas together.
As a custom, some culturesâ storytellers repeat the same tale over and over because they believe that each time you hear it, you come to the story as a different person and view the plot and characters in a new light. Hearing the story over and over is a way to gauge where you have been and where you are now on your path of personal evolution. It also helps the younger generation learn the stories so that they can pass them to forthcoming generations.
When we hear others tell stories, we can laugh at their humorous adventures, feel the thrill of exciting encounters, see parts of ourselves in them, and learn from the challenges they face. Though most of our formal traditions of storytelling are lost, it does not mean we have to be without. We can begin new practices in our own families of listening to one another, of honoring our own journey, and witnessing the journeys of those around us. We can revive the fireside communal by gathering around the campfire or hearth with family and friends, sharing in stories. By building new practices of storytelling, we give ourselves and the ones we love an opportunity to draw ever closer in our shared human experience.

We know very well that these people have openly stated their objective, which is to harden the hearts of the American public, to foster and cultivate distaste for bible thumping homophobes, In other words, their work benefits the purple and pink and harms "family values".
It is a falseflag operation, and they are winning. Now quit whinnin'

Yes, I understand that they have a right under the 1st amendment BUT, do
not the parents of those that have been lost in these dual actions that we
are currently engaged in have the right to a peaceful assembly also
guaranteed under that same law????.In all fairness and out of respect and dignity
with regards to the families in mourning there needs to be a 'Free Speech
Zone' erected by the police and those that feel the need to be a major
disruption in the middle of and during funeral services. I can partially
understand their side but as a mother of two service members, I would do all I
could to maintain the dignity and solemnity that such an occasion demands.
