How To Celebrate Ostara with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Chocolate Rabbit

Sure, Ostara is a time to celebrate
spirituality and the turning of the earth, but there's no reason we
can't have a good time with it as well. If you've got kids -- or even if you don't -- this simple rite is a great way to welcome the season
using some things that are readily available in the discount stores at
this time of year!
Bear in mind, this is meant to be fun and a little bit silly. If you
think the Universe has no sense of humor, click the Back button on your
browser immediately to exit this page.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 20 minutes
Here's How:
1. For this ritual, you'll need the following:
* A bag of jellybeans
* Marshmallow Peeps -- chicks, bunnies, etc.
* A chocolate rabbit for each particpant
* A glass of milk for each participant
Arrange your ritual supplies on your altar so they look pretty. Kids
can do this -- typically the chocolate rabbits end up in the center,
surrounded by an army of Peeps and several rings of jellybeans. A quick
note -- you might want to perform this ritual well in advance of
mealtime, or all the kids will be too full of candy to eat a real
dinner.
2. First, give everyone present a handful of jellybeans. Point
out the different colors in the jellybeans, and what they can represent. As you call out each one, eat the jellybeans in that color. Feel free
to be a bit goofy. Say something like:
Behold, little jelly eggs, small symbols of the season,
How we adore you!
Green is for the grass that springs from the land! (eat all the green jellybeans)
Yellow is for the sun shining above our heads! (eat all your yellow jellybeans)
Red is for the tulips that grow in our garden! (eat your red jellybeans)
Pink is for Aunt Martha's new Easter hat! (eat your pink jellybeans)
3. Purple is for the crocuses that sprout along our driveway! (eat the purple ones)
Continue this until all the colors are gone -- if you really want to
have some fun, make the kids take turns naming off the colors and what
they mean to them. When they're all gone, call out:Hail! Hail! to the mighty jelly bean of Spring!
4. Next, hand out the marshmallow Peeps. As you do, say:
Behold the Peep! The Peep is life, brought back in the spring!
Little Peep chickens, we honor you! (bite the Peep chicks)
Little Peep bunnies, we honor you! (bite the Peep bunnies)…
Continue this until the Peeps are all gone -- it's probably a good
idea to limit each kid to just two or three Peeps at the most. When the
Peeps have all vanished, call out:
Hail! Hail! to the mighty Peeps of Spring!
5. Finally, distribute the chocolate rabbits. Say:
Behold the great chocolate rabbit!
As he hops through the land, he spreads joy and happiness!
O, how we adore the chocolate rabbit and his great big chocolate ears! (eat the rabbit's ears)
Praise the chocolate rabbit, and his delicious chocolate tail! (eat the rabbit's tail)
Honor this chocolate rabbit, and his chocolate hoppity legs! (eat the rabbit's legs)
He is a wonderful rabbit, and he is special indeed! (eat the rest of the rabbit)
When the rabbits are all gone, say:
Hail! Hail! to the mighty chocolate rabbit of Spring!
6. Give everyone a glass of milk, and raise your drinks in a toast to these three symbols of the season.
To the jelly beans!
To the Peeps!
To the chocolate rabbit!
We drink in your honor!
Drink your milk, and sit back to enjoy the sensation of being stuffed with ritual candy.
What You Need:
* Jelly beans
* Peeps
* Chocolate rabbits
* Milk

Is Anyone Hosting or Thinking of Hosting an Ostara Event or Meet up?
TIME TO WAKE UP NEW JERSEY AGAIN
If anyone is looking to host a meet up (adults only and children of course with permission of Parents) Just make an Event Listing on your own Profiles, copy and paste that link here and NJ Pagans will invite people in your area to help
Usually they start off small which is the best to keep it small but it may turn into something later with local meets....Let us know
Anyone willing to host an Ostara for instance, make it small, like Egg hunts, coloring eggs, crafts, small ostara Ritual (make it your own even use one online but keep it small) Pot luck and story time or workshop on Ostara which can be kept small (articles, books, write your own, poems ect) This really isn't hard, people I think are scared to fail or what they will look like but I'm telling y ou everyone enjoys these types of meets more then the bigger events! Plus they are mostly free or small donations

Healing

Essential oils have been used in ritual, religious worship & divination in many cultures throughout the centuries. While the main purpose was to carry prayers to the gods and goddesses, essential oils were also used for healing, purification, grounding & beauty.

About Hera: Hera rules the earth, its people, and the hearts of those people. Using passion and creativity, Hera nudges star-crossed lovers together, chaperones trysts, and helps struggling marriages with a case of spring twitterpation!
Legend tells us that Hera refused to return to Zeus's bed because of a quarrel. Zeus, however, had a plan. He humorously dressed up a wooden figure to look like a bride and declared he was going to marry. When Hera tore off the dummy's clothes and discovered the ruse, she was so amused and impressed by Zeus's ingenuity that she forgave him.
To Do Today: Ancient Greeks honored Hera and Zeus's reconciliation today, often in the company of old oak trees. Small pieces of fallen wood are collected to symbolize the divinities, then burned on the ritual fire to keep love warm. To mirror this custom, find a fallen branch and burn a small part of it as an offering to Hera. Keep the rest to use as a goddess image year-round, burning a few slivers whenever love needs encouragement.
Present someone you love or admire with a poppy today to symbolically bestow Hera's blessings on your relationship. If you have a loved one away from home, burn some myrrh incense in front of their picture so Hera can watch over them and keep that connection strong.

Flowing Money Spell
Incense of the day: Sandalwood
To bring yourself a flowing source of money, take a coin of silver or a
silvery metal and toss it into a flowing body of water, such as a river
or a stream. Reinforce this spell with a visualization of the coin
floating away with the moving water, and in return visualize that dollar bills, in denominations of 10s, 20s, and 100s, are coming back toward
you on the water's surface. Softly chant "abundance" as you work this
visualization.

Burning Barriers Ritual
Invoking Mars can help remove barriers that are preventing you from achieving
success. Since the related element is fire, burning and smoldering are
actions to take on this day. Prepare a sacred space and create a relaxed atmosphere. Incense smoke is easiest to watch against a dark
background, so place a black cloth or board nearby; light as many
candles as you desire. Prepare your preferred method of incense and
light it. Spend long moments watching the smoke curl and float through
the air. Gaze upon the candle flames. Consider the burning process, and
invoke the fiery presence of Mars for energy, courage, and success.

In northern lands, the spring Goddess was embodied by the sun. During the winter, she retreated southward, so that by midwinter she rose only briefly each day, setting hastily and leaving the lands in cold and dark. But as spring approaches, she stays longer and longer each day, shedding warmth on her people. As the equinox nears, bringing balance between light and dark, the sun brings back growth and seasonal change.
The ancient Scandinavians recognized that the human reaction to increasing daylight was return of interest in connecting with others - through lust as well as through love. They acknowledged, as did many other people, the way the sap rises in our bodies as well as in the trees and plants around us. Celebrating the fruitfulness of our womanly bodies is a way to celebrate the Goddess. And at no time is her energy stronger than in early spring.

Do you feel suddenly conspicuous? Do you accept the compliment? How do
you openly express yourself during a compliment? Does this affect your
spirituality in a good or bad way? If we don't know how to accept
compliments what can we do to help ourselves?
Would learning to except compliments be part of your spiritual health?
