What's Happening Today:
Pagan: This day commemorates the Martyrdom of Hypatia, known as the Divine
Pagan. She was dean of the Neoplatonic school at Alexandria. A famed
philosopher and mathematician, she was murdered by a Christian death
squad.

Persia: Day of Marduk - Marduk (called Jehovah by the
ancient Hebrews) was the sun god who defeated the sea goddess Tiamat and
took claim to the creation of the world. Tiamat was the cause of the
Great Flood according to the Babylonians, freeing Marduk from the stigma
of being a murderer of innocent men, women, and children. Other
religions take the blasphemous view that Jehovah caused the flood.

Goddess of The Day:  WHITE SHELL WOMAN Eagle Dance (New Mexico)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:18 am (PST)

Goddess of The Day:  WHITE SHELL WOMAN
Eagle Dance (New Mexico)

Themes: Magic; Overcoming; Spirituality, Freedom; Hope; Success; Protection; Joy; Dreams
Symbols: Eagle; Rattle; White

About White Shell Woman: In Native American tradition, White Shell Woman came to earth bearing elemental blankets and the sunshine of protection, dreams, and renewed hope. When she arrived a rainbow appeared, banishing sadness with the promise of eventually reuniting humankind with the gods. Today she renews this promise to us, whispering her message on March's winds and bearing it on the wings of an eagle.

To Do Today: Sometime in spring, the Pueblos of New Mexico hold an Eagle Dance to bring rain and ensure the tribe's success in difficult situations. The mimelike movements of the dance unite the dancers with the Eagle spirit, connecting them with the sacred powers. To adapt this in your own life, grab a feather duster and dance a little of White Shell Woman's hope into your heart while you clean up the house!

If you have young children in your life, work with them on a Shell Woman anti-nightmare blanket or happiness charm. Take four strips of cloth in elemental colors, or seven in the colors of the rainbow. Sew them together to form a blanket or portable swatch. Bless the charm, saying,

Love and joy within each seam brings me only happy dreams;
Shell Woman, shine through the night; keep me safe till down's first light.

Quiet Space Spell

Quiet Space Spell

To rid yourself of the headaches that a lack of money frequently causes, gather together all your current bills, your checkbook, and any cash or coins you have in the house. Wrap them together in a green velvet cloth, and go to a quiet space, preferably in nature. Lie down on the ground, and place the velvet bag under your head.

Close your eyes and slowly chew two fresh leaves of feverfew. Imagine what your life will be like when all your financial obligations are easily met each month. What type of work would you have? What would you eat? What would you do after work? Remember this feeling of freedom whenever you pay a bill or are feeling particularly panicky about money. Do not do this ritual if you are taking prescription medications.

Poppet Magic Healing Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Poppet Magic Healing Spell

Toxic emotions can bring on health concerns. It is essential to clear the air after any kind of argument or misunderstanding. One way to clear the air is by using poppet magic. For this, go to a craft store and buy a small rag doll without features or hair. Pin to the doll the name of the person who has been causing you problems, as well as his or her astrological sign on the doll’s chest, near the area of the heart. If you have a picture of the person, all the better; you can scan the image and pin it to the doll’s face. Light a white candle, saying:

Peace we make,
disquiet friend.
With this prick
our troubles end.

Peace is the way.
Love is the power.
Our problems flee
this very hour.

Serenity,
that is the key.
Heal our love.
So mote it be.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip ... Terra Cotta Pot

Keep a small terra cotta pot on a coffee table.Add your favorite essential oil or blend.

This will add just a hint of scent to your room while freshening the air.
Be sure to place the clay pot on a dish so as not to damage wood furniture. Any terra cotta vessel will do.

~Song from the Faroe Islands

On Hildar Hill the Goddess sat.
Poets someday will say that
light itself paled beside her,
casting shadows on the wall.
On Hildar Hill the Goddess sat,
radiance streaming from her.
Poets someday will say that
looking at her was like staring at fire.
On Hildar Hill the Goddess sat,
combing out her fine hair.
Poets someday will say that
it was as fin-spun silk
and shone like gold.
~Song from the Faroe Islands

As the sun grows in strength at this time of year, we become more and more aware of the world around us. Winter is a time of retreat. Even though our electric lights open possibilities never dreamed of by earlier people, we still find ourselves slowly withdrawing in winter. We may become less active; we may see people less frequently; we may engage in quieter pastimes. But then, as light returns, we wake up to the world around us.

And again, we see its beauty. Even before the plants begin their annual cycle of budding and blooming, we see the sky opening up to the sunlight. White clouds scud across the blue, or wispy ones decorate the sky's dome. Light dazzles us with its golden radiance. Absorbed in the world's beauty, we move together toward the dawning springtime.

Re: How do you Write your Own Spells?

MM Cher,

My process is a little long-so I make sure that I really have a *need* for
it.

First I figure out what I want to do. Because I like working with color
magick, I usually light a candle of the appropriate color before I write my
spell (for example, if I am working healing magick, I usually light a blue
candle, love magick a pink or red one, etc). I find that this helps put me
in the "magickal frame of mind."

I also have my BOS open to my correspondences, and notes I have made on
other spells (what works, what doesn't). I write out the best time to
perform the spell (phase of the Moon, day, planetary hour)-this may not
always be practical, but I find that the more "energies" I can get for a
specific time the better. Then I just wright-whatever comes to me, I write
down. From that, I write my spell.

Sometimes, if I have no need for a magick spell, but I get an idea I'll do
my "notes" (basically just writing whatever comes to mind), and write spells
for another time. This is helpful if, later on, I need to do something
quick and don't have time to write a specific spell for it.

And that is my process. J As you can imagine, after 17 years, my BOS is
MASSIVE, LOL!

Disandra

Get Ready for Ostara!: Day 4: Ostara Ritual and Ceremony

Get Ready for Ostara!

Day 4: Ostara Ritual and Ceremony
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
For many people in the Pagan and Wiccan communities, Ostara is a time of great celebration. It's when we recognize the balance between light and dark, as well as the coming of the earth's fertile season. Try one of these rituals to help you connect to the ever-changing Wheel of the Year at the spring equinox.
Ostara Rite for Solitaries

Ostara is a time of balance. It is a time of equal parts light and dark. At Mabon, we have this same balance, but the light is leaving us. Today, six months later, it is returning. Spring has arrived, and with it comes hope and warmth. Although this rite is written for one person practicing alone, it can easily be adapted for a small group. Read About a Rite for Solitaries

Ostara Rebirthing Ceremony

Spring is the time of year when the cycle of life, death, and rebirth is complete. As plants bloom and new life returns, the theme of resurrection is ever present. As Ostara, the spring equinox, arrives, it's the season for that which has gone dormant to become revitalized, alive, and reborn. This ritual includes a symbolic rebirthing -- you can perform this rite either as a solitary, or as a part of a group ceremony. Read About a Rebirthing Ceremony

Ostara Labyrinth Meditation

The labyrinth has long been considered a place of magic and introspection. Labyrinthine designs have been found in nearly every major religion, and are an integral part of many ancient cultures. Labyrinths have been found all over the world. They are, in essence, a magical geometric shape which helps define sacred space. A labyrinth is not the same as a maze -- there is only one path in, and one path out.
You can set up a real labyrinth outside, or you can visualize one to walk the path of this meditaiton. Read About Labyrinth Meditation

Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Chocolate Rabbit

Ostara is a time to celebrate spirituality and the turning of the earth, but there's no reason we can't have a good time with it as well. If you've got kids -- or even if you don't -- this simple rite is a great way to welcome the season using some things that are readily available in the discount stores at this time of year! Bear in mind, this is meant to be fun and a little bit silly. It's a lot of fun to perform this one with your family, but you can do it with adult friends as well! Read the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Chocolate Rabbit

Tomorrow: The Magic of Spring

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, and of the earth coming back to life. Tomorrow, we'll look at the magic of spring planting, gardening, herbalism, and how to plant a magical moon garden!
