Haha! My first censorship! Yes, it seems my creation was too much for them.
Yesterday the lovely venue at which some of my art is on show, asked me to
consider removing a piece to a quiet backroom or leave it out altogether.
Apparently they received some remarks and requests by patrons concerning the
subject matter - words like demonic, evil, blood-thirsty and inappropriate being
thrown about.
In my delirium I considered the lovely piece in question, hiding in a dark
antechamber and knew this wasn't for her. So I happily brought her home with me
to reclaim her honoured place on my wall where she was sorely missed.
All I can say is wow! WOW! I thought it was a strong piece and would have some
difficulty at the venue (they had assured me they were very happy with it when I
showed them). But only 2 days on the wall? (and it would have been 3 if they
hadn't removed it for a group of Christians meeting for breakfast).
2 days!! She wasn't even my most controversial piece! Sigh contentment.
My only sorrow is for all those who might have liked to see her and experience
the energy she relentlessly exudes. If anyone wants to view the lovely and in my
opinion perfectly appropriate artwork let me know. There are full size prints
available and we (the subject and I) are not shy.
Brightest and most blessed blessings
Minka

Greetings Minka.
Now you have peked my curiosity! Sounds like the sort of art the world just has too little of, but having not seen it can't comment too much. BUT,if it had that effect on the great unwashed, then it gets the thumbs up from me.
Cotty.

Description:
The Australian Reclaiming Community (ARC) is pleased to announce that
we will be hosting the very first Australian WitchCamp in April 2011.
Reclaiming WitchCamps are renowned internationally as deeply ecstatic
and transformative events. We are very excited to be able to offer
the first ever Reclaiming WitchCamp here in Australia, to be held in
the beautiful native bushland of Healesville, Victoria!
WitchCamps were
first organised in California during the 1980s and have since
flourished across the US, Canada and Western Europe. Each Camp includes
a series of workshops and rituals inspired by a central Camp theme, and
are created by an experienced teaching team. The teaching team for the
first ARC WitchCamp includes both Australian and International teachers:
John Brazaitis (US)
Rhonda King (Vic, AUS)
Fiona Mariposa (Vic, AUS)
Jane Meredith (NSW, AUS)
Gede Parma (Qld, AUS)
Ravyn Stanfield (US)
This
teaching team has many years of priest/priestessing and teaching
experience between them. We are thrilled to be able to host this event
as an offering to the Australian Pagan community.
WitchCamp Teaching Paths:
The
2011 Australian WitchCamp will include three different Teaching Paths
(or structured series of workshops). Each participant will be asked to
nominate the Path that they would like to travel for the duration of
the Camp.
The Path descriptions are as follows:
Elements Path
with John Brazaitis and Rhonda King
What is Reclaiming Witchcraft? Join us as we immerse ourselves in
the art of this tradition. Discover new ways of experiencing the
elements and magical practice Reclaiming style as together we share
& explore not just the "what", but also the "why" and "how" of
creating the magic that is WitchCamp.
In the course of this path we will allow the elements to speak
through us via story, movement, sacred drama and song. How do the
elements connect us with this ancient land on which we walk? How are
the elements a gateway to empowerment?
The Elements Path is designed to enhance or instill magical practice,
ritual etiquette and to deepen individual experience in the evening
rituals. This path is for all those who come prepared to know the
elements in a new and experiential way, whether skilled practitioners
or newcomers to the Reclaiming tradition. The Elements Path is
structured to be accessible and useful to all campers, but is
especially recommended to those not familiar with the Reclaiming
tradition or who have limited experience working in group rituals.
Earthsong: Listening to the Voice of Nature
Earth Path with Ravyn Stanfield and Fiona Mariposa
Our Pagan spirituality is deeply rooted in the planet on which we make
our home. We may struggle with daily living in urban settings removed
from connection with the Earth's song. The modern culture we live in
encourages us to be divorced from our bodies and separate from the land
on which we depend - a hex that we have the power to break.
This week, we will reclaim our primal nature, remembering ourselves as
divine human animals. We will dissolve layers of fear, dissociation,
technology, self-hatred and loneliness, and learn practices that will
help us to better understand the voices of Mother Nature. We will
design solitary and tribal play for our bodies, and reconnect to the
possibility of wild human beauty and purpose within the web of life.
We will seek wisdom and inspiration from the voices of our
co-inhabitants of the Earth, rededicating to ancient alliances and
beginning new conversations.
On this Path we will renew our
love songs to the land in ecstatic passion, our human trademark. We
will create practical magic for healing our bodies and our planet, and
remind ourselves that we are never alone in this work.
Inner Path of Power
with Jane Meredith and Gede Parma
"Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" (Marianne Williamson).
As
Witches we undertake to work with power consciously and responsibly.
Recognising that to have and use power is to be able, in this Path we
will undertake an exploration of Self to discover our Power within.
'Know thyself' is an unending journey all of us choose to take again
and again, discovering deeper layers of our essential truth, self and
power. We will work with ritual, self-discovery, communion and creative
processes both as individuals and as a group. For this Path, a strong
grounding in Elements and personal magical practice and discipline is
required.
Self and Power are two points of the Iron Pentacle,
a Reclaiming and Feri magical construct. Travelling the Inner Path of
Power we will explore aspects of Shadow, ethics of Power and cultural
concepts. We will combine personal exploration and ecstatic ritual to
examine these two points and how they intersect intrinsically, arriving
at a place where they are balanced, alive and vibrant. The relationship
between Self and Power is as the devotion of prayer to Deity.
