May I ask a question of the group. I am still getting acclimated to this part of the country and it seems that the house I am living in is older and my moving in has upset the creepy crawlies living here before me. I felt something on my arm a few minutes ago and thought it might have been a fly. I juggled my arm and almost immediately felt it again. I used my mouse led to see what i thought was maybe a moth instead. Unfortunately it was not either a fly or a small moth. It seems that the spiders in the house have decided to come not only to my room, but to my bed. It was not just a common spider. It was a brown recluse spider. I have read that they are prevalent in the south west, but was not expecting to find them here. I was really hoping upon seeing the Spirit Houses Spell subject line that it would be about protecting myself in my new home. Does anyone have any suggestions other than bug spray? I do not want that near me or my bedding. But the
spiders are definitely NOT welcome in my bed with me. I put in some of those electronic pest repellent modules, the ones that plug in when I moved in a few weeks ago and it seems that the natives are indeed getting restless. I really do NOT want to get bit, even inadventently. Help Please!!!!

Feng Shui Tip

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Thursday, April 14

It's a bird, it's a plane -- no, it's just 'Look Up at the Sky Day!' This is a perfect day to take in some serious breaths of life and to embrace a famous Russian health remedy of that same name. This alternative remedy that builds back Chi, vital essence or being comes from the P. K. Ivanov pantheon of easy and all-natural ways to rejuvenate, revivify and restore. Get outside today and very gently stretch your head so that you're looking up at the open sky. Open your mouth and inhale slowly through the nose, taking in a deep breath from the air above. As you begin to slowly exhale, 'swallow' the air, visualizing this pure oxygenated energy coursing through every part of your body. Once you've visualized all that air circulating and spreading through your being, go ahead and exhale. Repeat this exercise two more times for a total of three times, starting from the very beginning. Ivanov preached that not only did this practice promise to cleanse and clear the aura, but it could also help to prevent overeating and obesity. In fact, he often advocated practicing this procedure immediately prior to indulging in any meal. So you can cleanse your aura, increase healthy circulation and kill your appetite all by breathing a specific sort of breath. This tip should have you walking on air, you know, when you're not swallowing it!

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Thursday, April 14

Yesterday's on-and-off, up-and-down type of shenanigans by the Sun, Moon, planets and asteroids may help you realize why so many human beings are plagued by manic-depressive and bi-polar ailments. After all, the ancient keynote in astrology was always considered to be As Above, So Below - meaning that whatever was true in the macrocosm or greater universe reflects its truth in the microcosm. Therefore, when the celestial seasonings are contradictory - as they often are - earthlings follow suit and the results on terra firma can be quite appalling.

Today has an additional dose of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde behavioral trends as the Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces (12:08AM PDT) - a short-lived lunar polarity that has the capacity to spread confusion like a virus. Fortunately, the Moon follows that chaotic interaction with a far more upbeat, benevolent parallel to giant Jupiter (3:53AM PDT) - one of this day's highlights and a catalyst for expanding your consciousness into new realms of intellectual and intuitive bliss.

The Moon tries to keep the positive vibes flowing via a trine of 120-degrees to distant Pluto (11:58AM PDT). Visualize yourself as a supreme organizer and efficiency master across the board. However, the Moon makes an off-kilter, 150-degree link to Mars (3:51PM PDT) while also forming a parallel to the red planet (4:36PM PDT). Pushing your agenda at all cost can boomerang.

The later hours show more resilience and helpful energy since Mars makes a supportive, 60-degree tie to Pallas (7:03PM PDT) followed by the monthly Moon-Juno union (11:55PM PDT). Problem-solving, strategy sessions, research and strengthening your immune system are back in vogue. Empower your primary partnerships by striving for balanced, equal and respectful interactions.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Elder's Meditation of the Day - April 14

"The base of all things is love and respect."

-- Vickie Downey, TEWA/Tesuque Pueblo

The greatest weapon of any Spiritual Warrior is love. Love will change minds; love will forgive; love will let go; love will cause good luck; love will heal; love will cry; love will get rid of resentments; love will overcome fear. Love loves love. Any human who is loving will be guaranteed respect. Respect loves love. We need to love and respect ourselves.

Grandmother, Grandfather, today, lead me on the path of love.

How to Get Rid of Spiders Naturally

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

How to Get Rid of SPIDERS Naturally

Looking for ways to get rid of spiders naturally and inexpensively?

Are you looking for ways to get rid of spiders naturally? There is no need for expensive sprays, bug bombs or paying someone to come out and spray around your house in the majority of situations. However, there are many ways to get rid of spiders, ants and other pests without spending a fortune or filling your home with poisons.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

Eucalyptus leaves or oils
Baking soda
Lemon scented Pledge

Get what you need for every
project at HomeDepot.com

1

Clean and declutter your home. Spiders love to hide away in dark little cubbyholes. They also love wood and cardboard. If you have lots of cluttered shelves or boxes around, those spiders are going to come find them. Get rid of them and immediately you will have less spiders.

2

Wipe down window and door frames with Lemon Pledge. Spiders can taste through their legs and they do not like the taste of Lemon Pledge. This will repel them and make them more likely to enter your home.

3

Go electronic. There are some devices, which plug into the wall and let out a high pitched tone that makes bugs stay away. You can find them at home supply stores, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart and similar stores.

4

Sprinkle baking soda, place eucalyptus leaves or hedge apples in the places where you've seen spiders. Many people swear by these items and that they work in reducing the number of spiders in your home.

Tips & Warnings

Consider leaving non-poisonous spiders alone as they eat other insects, such as mosquitoes.

If you have a problem with brown recluse spiders, black widows or other poisonous spiders, and natural methods don't work to get rid of them, you may want to call in a professional exterminator for the safety of your family.

What are 'hedge apples'? Latin name would be best, if someone knows it.

Thanks.

Folklore provides numerous claims that hedgeapples are repellent to insects and spiders. The fruit of the osage orange has been placed in households for ages.

The Hedgeapple's average lifespan in an air-condition environment is 2-3 months. Although some can develop spots at an early stage, Hedgeapples should only be discarded once most of the green has disappeared.

Thank you, Lady N. I was able to find some info on it now, including
references to it being used to repel spiders or insects.

The Dancers Tarot

[Dancers Tarot Flier]
<http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/600727120/the-dancers-tarot>

Dear friends, fellow artists, witches, magicians, and dancers,

I'm so excited to share with you my latest project! Since I
began to photograph dancers, I've had the vision to create a
deck of tarot cards with photos of dancers to represent the
archetypes (using Contact Improv and Authentic Movement as approaches to
finding genuine expressions of the archetypes.) I've been
incubating the idea, researching, and trying things out, and
I'm ready to start working on the first 22 images—The Major
Arcana. It's quite an ambitious project and will require an
investment in time, energy, and money. Right now the financial
side is where I need your help to get things going.

I've just launched my project "The Dancers Tarot" on
Kickstarter.com, a new online platform for grassroots
fundraising, where you can watch a video I made, read more
about the project, and pledge your support. Kickstarter is
powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where
projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
Please go take a look at my page:

<http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/600727120/the-dancers-tarot>

<http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/600727120/the-dancers-tarot>
Thanks for any support you are able to offer! Even a few
dollars helps. The more pledges I get the more popular the
project will become on Kickstarter, which means... more
pledges... and the project's success!
I can't wait to update you on my progress.

Blessed Be,
Moti Mark Zemelman

A Reason to Smile
Five Minutes to Happiness

In the flip of a switch, a thought, we all have the capacity to be happy in this moment.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the rigors of modern life that we tend to forget that happiness need not come with stipulations. Happiness becomes something we must schedule and strive for — a hard-won emotion — and then only when we have no worries to occupy our thoughts. In reality, overwhelming joy is not the exclusive province of those with unlimited time and no troubles to speak of. Many of the happiest people on earth are also those coping with the most serious challenges. They have learned to make time for those simple yet superb pleasures that can be enjoyed quickly and easily. Cultivating a happy heart takes no more than five minutes. The resultant delight will be neither complex nor complicated, but it will be profound and will serve as a reminder that there is always a reason to smile.

So much that is ecstasy-inducing can be accomplished in five minutes. Alone, we can enjoy an aromatic cup of our favorite tea, take a stroll through the garden we have created, write about the day's events in a journal, doodle while daydreaming, or breathe deeply while we listen to the silence around us. In the company of a good friend or treasured relative, we can share a few silly jokes, enjoy a waltz around the room, play a fast-paced hand of cards, or reconnect through lighthearted conversation. The key is to first identify what makes us dizzyingly happy. If we do only what we believe should bring us contentment, our five minutes will not be particularly satisfying. When we allow ourselves the freedom to do whatever brings us pleasure, five minutes out of 14 wakeful hours can brighten our lives immeasurably.

It is often when we have the least free time or energy to devote to joy that we need to unwind and enjoy ourselves the most. Making happiness a priority will help you find five minutes every day to indulge in the things that inspire elation within you. Eventually, your happiness breaks will become an established part of your routine. If you start by pursuing activities you already enjoy and then gradually think up new and different ways to fill your daily five minutes of happiness, you will never be without something to smile about.

It's time again for the annual 'Stella Awards'! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's in New Mexico , where she purchased coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right? That's right; these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy.

           Here are the Stella's for the past year:

* SEVENTH PLACE *

Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.

Start scratching!

* SIXTH PLACE *

Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

Scratch some more....

* FIFTH PLACE *

Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT days and survive on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish.
Keep scratching. There are more...

Double hand scratching after this one..

* FOURTH PLACE *

Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

Pick a new spot to scratch, you're getting a bald spot..

* THIRD PLACE *

Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tail bone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?

Only two more so ease up on the scratching....

*SECOND PLACE*

Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.
Ok. Here we go!!

* FIRST PLACE *

This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was: Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , who purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down?
$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.

Are we, as a society, getting more stupid....
or are more members of Congress serving on juries these days?
