Free-ware program for witchcraft

Greetings!
I am (finally) getting around to writing a program (it will be offered for free)that will "crunch the numbers" for a specific task....say, the best day for making money choices- it will produce the angel, archangel, best hour, best day, best candle color, best herbs, metal, gem, symbol, planet, best number, track lunar position, and maybe? suggest a base spell?

I know many have all this information committed to memory, but for me personally, by the time I have looked everything up, the hour has come and passed and I need to start again. I also thought this could be a quite useful tool for planning ahead....on such and such day at 11 am Mars will move into Scorpio, the Moon will be in Scorpio, it will be a tuesday, so you better plant your magic basil.......just an example, but you get the idea.

I would like to ask the group for some feedback on this:

what would you like to see in such a program?

what do you think are the most important aspects to be addressed? (I'm personally a Hedge, so I'm kinda slack on ceramony and getting ALL the goodies together.....ugh...)

would you be interested in contributing from your own BoS a spell?(your own or maybe a wonderful little ditty from the 16th centry :D ) I will definately credit anyone who contributes if you wish it so.

Should TRUE holidays be included? (I don't mean the commercial xian asymulated- rather, the ORIGINALS)...and maybe a little write up about the TRUE origin of the day with suggestions on how to honor the day? (like KEEPING a bit of your Yule to start next year's fire..and so on)

Would you rather it be structured like a calander or should one simply enter a day and time- or, enter a project and have the optium day, time present it's self? (hmm... kinda seeing the answer already...all of the above!)

Any and ALL feedback is welcome - IF this site does not want this discussion here, PLEASE accept my apology.....members may feel free to send their input to my e-mail clmb59@yahoo.com

Weaver/Artisan using floor looms to create rag rugs. Also, creating and
selling vintage-type aprons. Spent the past three years (as of today)
re-building a house. Several magickal areas existed and created a few
more. Probably my gifts and attributes are inherited. Recognizing them
is fun. Keeping my mouth shut and all of my other senses open is
interesting. I taught my daughters to keep an open mind, but not so open
as to let their brains tumble out. I am a solitary as my husband needs
to teach school here and what the neighborhood doesn't know is for the
best. Had an interesting night Tuesday. Bad storms hit our street. Every
one of my neighbors had major or minor property damage. We did not get a
scratch or even loose one shingle. Was I lucky ? Had just read some
"protection material"...had not even done any of the spells, etc yet.
Books were in the dresser drawer in the upstairs room I was sleeping in.
Large tree not 20' from the window fell the other way !?! We were able
to help various neighbors as we had electricity and none of them did.
Also, able to let one of them borrow our truck to take a dog to the vet
hospital an hour away once we got it out from under a tree. Also, lent
ladders, tarps, tools, etc. Babysat. My daughter says that with the
damage all around us, I must have built up some good karma to have been
missed! I think I built up some more this past week for the next storm.
I might be a hedge witch, probably not a Wiccan, though. Hope I am
welcome here. Thanks.

GAIA:

Hi Laralee --

I want to start off by saying that you are most *definitely* welcome
here -- We're Delighted you wanted to join, and hope you will continue
to participate!

I think many people who come into Paganism understand the initial
concerns and desire, even the need -- to remain anonymous, especially
until they "get the lay of the land" so to speak, both of Paganism (or
whatever Path they choose) and of the people and political and spiritual
"atmosphere" in their area. It can be a very wise move, actually.

I've written some suggestions on Getting Started -- If that might help
or interest you, try the following links/ articles:

GAIA:

Funny you should mention that <g> -- In fact, as you probably know,
Joseph Smith and other leading LDS men had "Seer Stones" -- actual stone
that were used to obtain "visions" --

Well, it wasn't just the male leadership of the Church that had and used
them.....Clear through the (early to mid) Utah period, there were LDS
women known for their Seeress Gifts ...Some stones can still be seen in
the Utah Historical Society --

See for example: http://www.realmormonhistory.com/pixof.htm
<http://www.realmormonhistory.com/pixof.htm>

And for more information on LDS women using ALL the "Gifts of the
Spirit" (what we Pagans might refer to as "Magick") , see Carol Lynn
Pearson's excellent book, "Daughters of Light" -

Introduction and Mormonism

Hello Everyone;
I thought it was about time that I sent in an introduction, and this post gave
me the inspiration to do so.I am an eclectic, solitary Witch and have been
practicing for about 20 years. I tend to be wary of "organized" religions,
including Wicca and the reason for that is probably because I was raised Mormon.
Gaia...thank you for your post and for all the interesting links and resources.
I mean no disrespect by the following comments....
I was raised LDS, in Utah and my family was LDS back to my
great-grandparents, on my fathers side. I never remember hearing the term,
Heavenly Mother. Girls/ women were not even encouraged to ask questions about
church doctrine, let alone participate in the making of it. Our sole purpose, in
the eyes of the men who created this church, was to have as many children as
possible...that was our value. The LDS church qualifies as a cult, and although
they have managed to become accepted as a major religion, it doesn't change the
beginnings of the church, or the things that go on in it today. They are in
fact, a business, and one of the wealthiest entities in the US.

To learn that Joseph Smith studied the Kabbalah and other religious teachings
does not surprise me.... he used many resources to set up a church, and was
very good at "picking and choosing" the teachings and philosophies that he
wished to incorporate into his, allegedly divinely- inspired doctrine. He also
borrowed from the old testament, from Freemasonry, and many other teachings to
create his little empire. To this day, church elders ( men only) have
"revelations" which have been used to change church rules to suit their needs.
One of those early teachings was polygamy, where men sought out multiple
wives....the younger the better, I might add, so that they could build there own
little empires. The only reason polygamy was stopped is because Utah wouldn't
have been granted statehood until they abandoned it. Hundreds, maybe thousands
of LDS members where murdered when they refused to give up the practice of
polygamy.

Like every other religion, cult or not, there are good people in the LDS
church....extremely brainwashed and gullible, but good people nonetheless. Oh...
and where did those darn gold plates go anyway.....:)

>>>GAIA:

I used to be a very devout member of the Mormon (actually, LDS -
"Latter-day Saint") religion, and i am very familiar with their history
and doctrine.

Actually, the basic, central theme of "Book of Mormon" (the book/
scripture, not the play) is that members of religions tend to develop a
creeping self-righteousness and judgementalism toward others, that
eventually leads to their downfall and the "displeasure" -- often even
"punishment" -- of God. That theme is restated in various ways, over
and over and over again, in the Book, with different groups, iin
different eras....>>>>>
