Friday Finds An Idea!
Friday April 8, 2011
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)

Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

Karen,
The petition starts, "We, the women of the world, who are mothers and have mothers, proclaim the following..." Are they only looking for women to sign this or are males to sign also. I know that Z. Budapest always said that only women will be taught the mysteries, but then further qualified it by saying, "Women or people born of Women.." I certainly want to show my support for the petition but I don't want to step on any toes.
B*B, Don
PS, I am also on the facebook site to "get rid of Patriarchy."

New tarot decks, some Shoyeido incense, mini pillar candle holders, some mini pillars, lots of ritual kits, prisms, some jewelry and wands (both crystal and wood), and much more. I would have responded to your post about the things you wanted to get rid
of but I'm all the way across the country.

I hope things go well for you.

No matter where you go, what you do, or what your beliefs, there will always
be someone who thinks you're wrong.

Don't waste time worrying that something may happen but don't close your
eyes and pretend that it won't.

Change may be slow but all it takes is for someone to keep moving forward.

The Patrick McCollum Foundation Needs Your Support

Posted by: "arlynnec" arlynne@thepaganalliance.org   dymphna333

Fri Apr 8, 2011 5:31 pm (PDT)

We want to thank all of you for your support and belief in the work that The Patrick McCollum Foundation is involved in. We need your help now to continue funding the important programs supported by the Foundation. We know that you are aware that Patrick McCollum is dedicated to being a warrior for human rights, social justice, and religious pluralism. Here are just a few of the extraordinary projects he has recently been involved in. Through religion and spiritually he is bringing a new message of planetary consciousness on a global level that will alert the world to our sacred connection with Divinity and with each other. Patrick is a chaplain who works to foster inter-religious understanding and cooperation, end religious discrimination, and show that the religions of the world, including indigenous religions, all offer wisdom that should be shared. His goal is that all people of the world recognize each other and all beings on the planet as honored brothers and sisters – our home being, not this or that place, but the earth itself. Patrick advocates that it is through honoring the sacredness of each and every one of us and the earth that there can be any hope for peace and a real effort to preserve what nature has given us.

How has Patrick affected the world? Patrick's advocacy work in prisons has substantially shifted both state and federal religion programs nationwide to now acknowledge and include minority faiths. He founded the National Correctional Chaplaincy Directors Association seven years ago, which trains high level government officials about pluralism and which is well attended by representatives from many states, and representatives of the Federal government. On a broader scale, his additional work with government officials, agencies, academics, and the legal system, has forced government as a whole to reevaluate the importance of pluralism in the United States, and to enact programs and laws to protect it. On a world scale, Patrick's vision for a sustainable humanity and planet, has given him a voice worldwide to make change, and he has. His work with Children of the Earth, an NGO for the UN, has empowered youth across the world to become the compassionate and pluralistic leaders of the future, and his interaction with political and religious leaders worldwide has added leverage to his message. There are many projects which have been successful as a result of Patrick's participation, but a couple which have gained national attention in this country are:

The Military Headstone Project, wherein Patrick was a central player in a movement to force the Veterans Administration of the United States to give equal access to minority faith soldiers killed in action the right to have their religious symbols displayed on their military headstones, a right that was denied previously. The project received nationwide coverage and successfully changed US policy.

A second project launched by Patrick is the McCollum vs California Department of Corrections lawsuit, wherein Patrick challenged the infamous Five State Sanctioned Faiths policy of the State of California, where the state has taken the position that there are only five faiths that are afforded equal rights under the US Constitution. Patrick has received nationwide support from religious and civil rights organizations and the media. This case is still in process and has been coined as a Landmark Case.

In 2010, Patrick received the prestigious Mahatma Ghandi Award for the Advancement of Religious Pluralism from the Hindu American Foundation. In October he traveled to Kazakhstan where he presented at the first World Forum of Spiritual Culture, an event attended by representatives from 75 countries, and gave input into the development of the Noosphere Ethical Ecological Constitution for Mankind.

Thanks to donations from people like you, in 2011, Patrick was able to travel to Thailand where he was honored by Buddhists as a World Inner Peace Ambassador. Patrick was an honored guest at a gathering of over 150,000 Buddhist monks from around the world at the Dhammakaya temple in the Pathumtani Province. His trip included spiritual meditation, sharing of Pagan ritual and practices, and meetings with Buddhist Lamas to work together on world peace. Following that event, Patrick had the honor of traveling to the renowned temple at Borobudur on the Island of Java, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with Lama Gangchen Rinpoche, of the World Peace Foundation.

We are looking for donations to support Patrick on a trip in June to Katmandu, Nepal on a humanitarian mission. This project will lend support to a series of schools and an educational program for underprivileged youth in Katmandu, in the village of Helambu, and in other outlaying regions of Nepal. While in Nepal, he will also meet with officials from the new Maoist government on human rights issues and to try to gain governmental support for the school project. In addition, he will also have the honor of meeting with interfaith leaders from Nepal, to discuss ways we can work together to form alliances toward the advancement of religious pluralism, the acceptance of diversity, planetary sustainability, and world peace. Lastly, he will be visiting a number of remote villages in the high country as their guest, to experience their lifestyle and hardship first hand, so that he might better understand what he can do to help them going forward.
With continued support from people like you, over the next five years, Patrick intends to travel and partner with other activists and organizations working toward similar goals and to continue to speak at universities, world events, and other relevant institutions to shift perspectives. Patrick also intends to expand training regarding pluralism to other governmental entities in the US, and to find ways to begin similar programs in other countries. And lastly, Patrick intends to continue his direct work supporting those needing spiritual support and counseling, in order to show other leaders that when caught up in the greater work, we must never lose sight of what we are fighting for.

We need your help.

All of the Patrick McCollum Foundation's work is supported with donations. As Patrick is called to travel all over the world helping people and speaking to the UN and Congress, and fighting the correctional system in California for equal rights for prisoners, he has not been able to do the jewelry design work with which the Foundation's work has thus far been supported.
Many of us desire to make a better world where the values we hold highest can replace those currently destroying all we hold dear, but don't have the time or skills to do so. But by supporting the Foundations work, you can have a direct and personal impact.
You can donate online via http://www.patrickmccollum.org/ or mail a donation to: The Patrick McCollum Foundation, 1480 Moraga Road, Suite 1 #237, Moraga, CA 94556.
There are many other ways you can get involved and support the organization. Those of you living in San Francisco will have an opportunity to attend a fundraising dinner with Patrick later this year where he will be talking about his trip to Thailand.

Blessings,
The Patrick McCollum Foundation

Get Ready for Beltane!

Day 3: Beltane Around the World
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
Although Beltane is a typically NeoPagan holiday, there are a number of other celebrations that take place at this time. In Germany, for example, residents celebrate Walpurgisnacht, which is a time of great feasting and bonfires. The ancient Romans observed Floralia, in honor of one of their agricultural goddesses. In England, mummer's plays and Morris dances became popular.

In addition to these celebrations, it's important to remember that there are many deities from around the world that are associated with fertility. Although Beltane isn't celebrated everywhere, nearly all cultures at some point had a god or goddess whose duty was to make sure both the crops and the people were fertile.
Walpurgisnacht

In parts of Germanic Europe, Walpurgisnacht is celebrated each year around April 30 - right around the time of Beltane. The festival is named for Walpurga, a Christian saint, who spent a number of years as a missionary in the Frankish empire. Over time, the celebration of St. Walpurga blended with the Viking celebrations of spring, and Walpurgisnacht was born. Walpurgisnacht

Floralia: The Roman May Day Celebration

The Romans had a celebration for just about everything. Certainly, any deity worth their salt got a holiday of their own, and Flora was no exception. She was the goddess of spring flowers and vegetation, and one of many fertility goddesses. Floralia

Morris Dancing and Mummer's Plays

Morris dancing was part of many social events in rural English towns. Although the dancing was for entertainment purposes, it was also quite theatrical, and dancers often worked for months preparing for a single event. Mummer's plays were also an extremely important part of English rural life. Although both of these forms of entertainment died out for a while, they're beginning to see a resurgence in popularity. Morris-men and Mummers

Fertility Deities of Beltane

Beltane is a time of great fertility -- for the earth itself, for animals, and of course for people as well. This season has been celebrated by cultures going back thousands of years, in a variety of ways, but nearly all shared the fertility aspect. Typically, this is a Sabbat to celebrate gods of the hunt or of the forest, and goddesses of passion and motherhood, as well as agricultural deities. Fertility Deities

Tomorrow: Ritual and Ceremony

Tomorrow we'll talk about some rituals you can use to celebrate the fire and fertility of Beltane, prayers for the Sabbat, and the tradition of Handfasting during the spring season.

Slow
Dance

This
is a poem
written by a teenager with cancer.

She wants to
see how many
people get her poem.

It is quite the poem
Please pass it
on.

This

poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a
New York

Hospital.

It was sent
by

a medical doctor -
Make sure to read what is in the closing statement
AFTER THE
POEM.

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever
watched
kids

On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to
the
rain

Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a

butterfly's erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the
fading
night?

You better slow down.

Don't
dance so
fast.

Time is short.

The music
won't
last.

Do you run through each day

On
the
fly?

When you ask How are you?

Do you hear
the
reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie
in your
bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through
your head?

You'd better
slow down

Don't dance so
fast.

Time is
short.

The music won't
last.

Ever told your
child,

We'll do it
tomorrow?

And in your
haste,

Not see
his

sorrow?

Ever lost
touch,

Let a good
friendship die

Cause you
never had time

To call
and say,'Hi'

You'd
better slow down.

Don't dance
so fast.

Time
is short.

The music won't
last..

When you run
so fast to get somewhere

You
miss half the fun of getting
there.

When you worry and hurry
through your
day,

It is like an unopened
gift....

Thrown
away.

Life is not a
race.

Do take it
slower

Hear the
music

Before the song is
over.

E-MAILS ARE TRACKED TO OBTAIN THE TOTAL
COUNT.

Dear All:
PLEASE pass this mail on to everyone you know -
even to those you don't
know! It is the request of a special girl who will soon
leave this world
due to cancer.

This young girl has 6 months left
to live,
and as her dying wish, she wanted to send a letter telling everyone to

live their life to the fullest, since she never will.

She'll
never make it to prom, graduate from high school,
or get married and have a
family of her own.

By you sending
this to as many people as
possible, you can give her and her family a
little hope, because with every name
that this is sent to, The American
Cancer Society will donate 3 cents per name
to her treatment and recovery
plan. One guy sent this to 500 people! So I know
that we can at least send
it to 5 or 6. It's
not even your money, just
your
time!

PLEASE PASS ON AS A LAST REQUEST.

Use the energies of the Libra Full Moon to get your finances back in balance
The Libra Full Moon occurs this year on Sunday, April 17th at 10.44pm EDT. Libra is the sign of balance and justice. It is ruled by the planet Venus and is represented by the Justice Card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot.
We will be working with the Libra energies to draw in Prosperity and release debt, bringing in a balance to our finances.
Libra Full Moon Spell - to draw Prosperity and release debt
As close to the actual Full Moon as possible (Sunday 17th April at 10.44pm EDT), create your sacred space as you normally would. i.e: Cast your circle or prepare a place to work your magick where you will not be interrupted.
Focus for a moment on some reasonable financial goals. By this I mean you may not want to start off asking for millions, but think about releasing a debt, and gaining prosperity on a daily basis.
What you will need:
Awareness Shop Handcrafted Prosperity Soap
God & Goddess Tealights
Clear Quartz & Hematite Crystals
A Prosperity Mojo
You'll also need a Pen and Paper
We offer a complete kit of all the items you need for this spell (excluding the pen & paper) for just $13

Ways To Use Spices in Unusual Ways
Spices are just for cooking. Right? Not any more!

Cayenne pepper sprinkled on garbage can lids will keep animals out of the trash.

For a relaxing bath try this: Combine equal amounts of rosemary, peppermint and lemon thyme in a cloth bag. Hang the bag
from the tub faucet while the water is running. After the bath, massage the bag into your skin for an even more sensual
experience.

A whole Bay leaf will keep weevils out of stored flour, cornmeal, and other grains without flavoring it.

Mint repels mice. Long stems of it placed along the eaves in your attic will encourage mice to choose a different winter
home. A word of warning - anise attracts mice.

Rosemary is a symbol of remembrance. Enclose rosemary sprigs in your Christmas cards, birthday cards, etc., for a
fragrant reminder.

Plant garlic bulbs around the edge of a flower garden to keep animals out of the bed.

Cold hands and feet? Sprinkle a small amount of cayenne pepper in socks and gloves to help keep them warm. Warning:
Cayenne pepper should not be used in or around any mucous membrane.

For natural mouthwash mix 1 tablespoon each anise seed, dried peppermint and rosemary. Double the amounts if using fresh
spices. Strain, cool and refrigerate to be used as needed. Warning: this is not meant to be ingested.

For a refreshing potpourri add 1 tablespoon dried peppermint leaves and 1 tablespoon cinnamon bark pieces to a sauce pan
of water and simmer.

Bouquets of mint, rosemary, and thyme wrapped lightly in cheesecloth and hung in a closet will repel moths

Paying Debts Spell

 Paying Debts Spell

Most everyone has some kind of debt to overcome, whether it’s student loans, credit cards, or something more symbolic or spiritual. To help pay off
your debts, collect statements or symbols of what you owe, and with
black ink, or with an imaginary ink on the tip of your finger, mark an X on them. Then, using scissors, real or imaginary, cut the “bills” into
very small pieces, and let the pieces fall in a pile. Visualize the debt being cut until nothing remainsâ€"that is, you are free of the financial
burdens. Place the paper pieces in the bottom of a heat-proof container, and place a black votive candle on top of them. Light the candle, and
allow it to burn completely until cool. The wax will have covered the
paper and bound it. Remove the wax and paper and bury the whole where it won’t be disturbed. Put the bag out of your mind. Pay the bills, but
bury the worry.
