DailyOM: An Invitation to Love

DailyOM - Angel Meditation
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

April 27, 2011
An Invitation to Love
Angel Meditation
A meditation with your angels can provide a new gentleness into your normal
meditation routine.

Though your host of spirit guides encompasses many diverse beings, all of which
willingly watch over you, meditating with angels can be a uniquely insightful
experience. The angels stationed at your side are both powerful and
knowledgeableâ€"they possess a limitless understanding of your needs and desires,
your strengths and weaknesses, and your purpose. However, angels take an active
part in our lives only when invited to do so. Meditation allows you to make
contact with your angels and lovingly request that they participate actively in
your day-to-day life.

To begin, retreat to a solitary place where you won’t be distracted by concerns.
Incense and candlelight may aid you in achieving a meditative state but are not
necessary. However, laying an image of an angel, angel statue, or item
symbolizing your angels before you can focus your thoughts. Sit comfortably,
breathe deeply, and let yourself relax. When you feel peaceful, invite your
angels from the highest of light to sit with you as you meditate. Mentally
repeat your request and reiterate that this time together is important to you.
Then, in your mind’s eye, visualize a bright-white light floating above you. As
you breathe, draw this light first into the crown of your head and then into the
whole of your physical self. Allow this light to spread through your arms and
hands, your core, and your lower body. Repeat this integration of illumination
with a violet light.

Once again, ask your angels to be with you. Let the stillness surrounding you
enter your soul, and open your heart to your angel guides. If they wish to
communicate a message, they will do so now. Allow them to wrap their wings
around you and infuse you with their bountiful love. Breathe them in as you did
the light. As the meditation draws to a close, you may feel a presence,
fluttering wings, or billowing fabric, or you may see an angel in your mind’s
eye. Thank them for providing you with love and light, and being with you as you
meditated. If you don’t sense or feel anything, there is no cause for worryâ€"you
can be certain your angels are with you. Don’t be surprised if you start to see
signs throughout the day that your angels are near, perhaps a feather at your
doorstep. As you practice this meditation, you will become increasingly adept at
recognizing when your angels are near and sensing their presence.

What's Happening Today:

Floralia Begins - The Romans began honored the Sabine goddess of blossoms and
spring with six days of celebrations including games, pantomimes, plays and
stripteases, which went on into the night illuminated by torchlight. Everyone
wore their most colorful clothes and decked themselves and their animals in
flowers. Goats and hares were let loose--they represented fertility and
sexuality and Venus in her role as patroness of cultivated nature. Small
vegetables (one imagines cucumbers and zucchinis) were distributed as fertility
tokens. Flora represented the sexual aspect of plants, the attractiveness of the
flowers, and was the matron of prostitutes.

Floralia and Beltane
Ancient Roman Floralia (Florales Ludi) was a festival from April 28 - May 2
which began in Rome in 238 B.C. Floralia was originally a Spring Festival which
honors Roman goddess of flowers, Flora (Chloris) another manifestation of the
earth-goddess which includes Fauna, Maia and Ops. The temple of this goddess was
founded on this day on the Aventine. Offerings of milk and honey were made on
this day and the surrounding five days, which comprise the Florifertum. The city
would have been decorated in flowers, and the people would wear floral wreaths
or flowers in their hair. Games would be celebrated on this day. The celebration
of this day survives in many cultures where it is known as May Day.

The maypole was later added from the Celts' Druidic tree worship. The maypole
with its flower crown representing sexual organs channels the Earth's energy
through the circlet around its top, bringing fertility to all who dance around
it. The ribbons were traditionally red and white, the colors of marriage and
consummation. The dancers would go under the first person and over the next
weaving the ribbons about the tree.

Beltane is the Celtic festival marking the beginning of summer, where the cattle
was driven between purifying fires before they were let out to graze the
meadows. Also the festival of Belenus, the Celtic god of fire and the sun.
Beltane" was Bel-fire, or fire of the Celtic god Bel (Beli, Balar, Balor,
Belenus), "Bright One," God of light and fire. In the Celtic tradition, Beltane
was the beginning of Summer. On this date, the herds were driven to the summer
pastures, where they would graze and grow fat for the coming winter.

Flow of Life Meditation

Flow of Life Meditation
Incense of the day: Pine

While we are the masters of our own destinies, we are a part of the natural
world and the order of that world. Nature has a pattern of flow. Each creation
is given attributes and gifts that, when utilized, encourage our flow to the
universal abundance of mind, body, and spirit. When we make choices that
deviate from the life flow, we tend to find ourselves in need. Reattune
yourself to the natural pattern by picturing a waterway that leads to a
glorious Moon or starlit horizon. Burn sandalwood on a charcoal block and say:

Lead me back to the flow of the universe, attune me to the pattern of my life.

Meditate, using the guided imagery. Write any perceptions that enter your
awareness. Be alert for opportunities to improve your flow.

Purifying Your Tarot Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Purifying Your Tarot Spell

After consecrating a tarot deck, to prevent outside influences invading your
cards set it on a pentacle at the center of your altar with a white candle lit
at either side. In front of the pentacle, light a stick of frankincense or
lavender incense. Wrap a black thread around the deck as you say:

This tarot is mine, consecrated to my use, bound by the thread that ties it to
me. I charge that no unwanted influence hold sway over these cards by air [pass
through incense smoke], by fire, [pass quickly through candle flame], by water
[breathe with open mouth quickly over the cards, and by earth [set the cards on
the pentacle].

Remove and store the thread to wrap the deck whenever needed.

Hymn To Innana, 2000 B.C.E.

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Apr 27, 2011 8:35 pm (PDT)

He laid his hands upon me, my shepherd.
He stroked my curly hair.
He poured himself like milk on me.
He filled me with his cream.
Now I caress him back, my shepherd.
Now I caress his curly hair.
Now I caress my faithful one.
Now I grant him a happy future.
~Hymn To Innana, 2000 B.C.E.

In the ancient literature of Mesopotamia, we find many songs in which the
Goddess Innana addresses her beloved in direct, often highly sensuous terms. The
Goddess deeply loves her consort, the shepherd of her flocks. He pleases her,
and so she gives him happiness in return. This joining of masculine and feminine
is celebrated in the erotic, passionate language of Innana's ancient people.

For several thousand years, gods have walked the earth who do not make love,
tenderly or passionately, with a beloved one. Christ, Buddha, Jehovah: not only
do they offer only male images of the divine, but they offer as well stories
lacking both sensory and sexual joy. Thus a great part of human experience has
been banished from the spiritual realm. This literature of the goddess can do
much to restore the sense of sexuality's true sacredness. Then, with the great
Innana, we can glory in our lover, unifying body and soul as we do so.
