I just wanted to say thank you so much to each of you. I gained a few new
friends from ones that reached out on msgr from my request to the healing circle
list of names.
I got an unexpected call at 4A this AM and it seems that some of the things that
i said and did, instead of destroying my relationship gave clear sight and
introspection to the one that I love so very dearly. He was in his
mancave but He was not angry, not apolgetic, but very loving and supportive and
reassuring. I had such high hopes for the request and at the same time was
steeling myself for it not to work. I should know better and trust my instincts
better than I do my heart.
thank you all once again for your love and blessings and prayers. You are
absolutely THE BOMB!!!!!
blessings and warmth and goodness be with you
amber

Question About Ostara
Posted by: "JacquelineR" jacquelinerocco@yahoo.com jacquelinerocco
Sat Mar 5, 2011 10:29 am (PST)
I've never really done any rituals or spells and I would like to start. I think I tend to put it off due to money and/or private space that day to do it.
I don't have any money to go and buy all this stuff to do an Ostara Ritual. Does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done with little or no money, maybe if I happen to have things around the house.
I just don't want to ignore the Sabbat and not honor it for lack of money.
Thanks everyone.
Brightest Blessings,
Jackie

We always liked to do a simple rite with the kids, but it works for adults too.
Do you have somewhere you can plant seeds? Even in a plastic cup on your window
sill. You can get seed at the dollar store now. We bless the seeds and thank the
mother for giving us another spring and then we plant the seeds. It also becomes
a daily ritual of thanks, watching and caring for the seeds. Sunflowers work
great.
My 2 cents

Ostara is the coming of spring, the changing of a season, and anything that helps make you aware of that and more in tune with the energy flow around you is ritual. Eggs are great. Can boil and color Ostara eggs, or look up tips on blowing eggs to make some decorations for your table. If you live in a climate where you can feel the coming of spring around you, setting aside 15 minutes to sit somewhere outside with your eyes closed and just be still is great. You feel the cool earth under you, warmth of the sun on your skin, birds singing. On a perfect day you can feel that contrast of warmth for the coming summer and crispness of the winter you're leaving behind. Ritual doesn't get any better than that!

Ostara Info

It's Ostara, and it's a time of year in which many Wiccans and Pagans choose celebrate the balance of light and dark that heralds the beginning of spring. It's a time to celebrate new life and rebirth -- not only the physical embodiment of renewal, but the spiritual as well. Try some -- or all -- of these ideas to ready your altar for Ostara.
Colors
To get an idea of what colors are appropriate for spring, all you really have to do is look outside. Notice the yellows of the forsythia blooming behind your house, the pale purples of lilacs, the green of new leaves appearing in the melting snow. Pastels are often considered spring colors as well, so feel free to add some pinks and blues into the mix if the idea strikes you. Decorate your altar in any of these colors -- try a pale green altar cloth with some purples and blues draped across it, and add some yellow or pink candles to carry the color up.
The Balance of the Equinox
Altar decor should reflect the theme of the Sabbat. Ostara is a time of balance between light and dark, so symbols of this polarity can be used. Use a god and goddess statue, a white candle and a black one, a sun and moon, even a yin/yang symbol.
New Life
Ostara is also a time of new growth and life -- add potted plants such as new crocuses, daffodils, lilies, and other magical spring flowers. This is the time of year when animals are bringing forth new life too -- put a basket of eggs on your altar, or figures of new lambs, rabbits, calves, etc. Add a chalice of milk or honey -- milk represents the lactating animals who have just given birth, and honey is long known as a symbol of abundance.
Other Symbols of the Season
Seeds and bulbs
Caterpillars, ladybugs, bumblebees
Symbols of nature deities -- Herne, Flora, Gaia, Attis, etc.
Gemstones and crystals such as aquamarine, rose quartz, and moonstone
Ritual fires in a cauldron or brazier

Re: Scary and silly

Lady Purehawk, I chose my magickal name of Aspen because I read that it meant "going forward in the face of fear". I was raised Xtian, and it was a major part of me growing up. It was, and continues to be, my biggest barrier in being all I could be as a witch. So I gave myself a constant reminder that when I feel the fear, I need to stop and examine where it's coming from. 99% of the time, it's the Xtian record that someone in my subconscious turned on again when I wasn't looking.
Of course she thinks you're doing evil. If you're praying to anyone other than the desert god, it's evil for her. That won't change, and any conversation you have with her about it while you're vulnerable now will only serve to create more damage for you in your chosen path that you'll have to repair later.
With the demon dream, this is her own fear attacking her. Don't get sucked into it. She may even be intuitive enough to feel your connection with the divine... which she would then interpret as a demon because if it's not of God then it must be of the devil.
As a child, I was always told that when demonic possession struck, you could ALWAYS find some door the victims had opened by doing something they shouldn't..... you know, all the stuff we all do every sabbat and esbat and in between. Anyway, as an adult I reazlied that what made those stories scary was really the actions and interpretation of the people experiencing them, not necessarily the thing itself.
Here's my first ritual I did for myself at Samhain, after about a year and a half of study: "Lady, help me to be more open. Help me to see your spirit around me, to hear your voice and feel your touch." I"m paraphrasing, but it was along those lines. Afterward, guess what? I was alone in the house and had an EXTREMELY strong feeling of being watched and followed for several hours. I was TERRIFIED, all the Xtian stories started coming back, I thought I had opened a door i shouldn't have and this was the start of the punishment. Then I realized I had gotten exactly what I asked for.
Something was attracted by my ritual, or had always been there, and i WAS feeling it. At that point, I stopped and asked myself to really examine what I was sensing from it, and the answer that came to me was simply curiousity. It wasn't something that wished me harm, or evil, or wanted to suck out my life energy.... it was just curious. And while I was still creeped out, my fear went away.
So when you get jumpy, stop and FEEL. Do what you know how to do as a witch, or pagan, or wiccan, or however you define yourself. Make the xtian record shut up for 2 seconds so that you can really asses what you're feeling around you, and decide for yourself if it's something to be concerned of. And take a moment to pity your xtian friend, who is unable to do that.
And if it helps, remember these words... "Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. Therefore, let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.... For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning, and I am that which is attained at the end of desire."
Blessings,
-Aspen

How very convenient for her agenda, I'd say. Playing on your fears, though
it should be no surprise when in essence her whole religion is based on fear
of hell-fire. See it for what it is and dismiss it with the same casualness
with which you'd dismiss someone's dreams of pink elephants invading your
home or purple emus residing behind your eyeballs. ;) She has taken fears
as manifested in her religion and used them to play on whatever subconscious
fears you might have, be they remnants of Christianity from your past or
anything else you might be 'attaching' them to. Cut the cords, recognise it
as something in *her* life and *her* agenda (consicous or subconscious), not
yours.
If seeing it for the nonsense it is does not 'do it for you' and you feel
the need, create a shield around yourself against any negativity, be it
thoughts, or thoughtforms if you believe the latter actually exist.

Miki

Sending Love to a Loved One Who Has Passed

Sending Love to a Loved One who Has Passed
Many cultures believe that when a person passes to the other side of the
veil, a burnt offering of our wishes, etc will rise in the column of smoke and
reach the person's spirit. You can adapt this ancient belief by sending your
love to those who are no longer with you.
Obtain a purple candle and write out your letter or message to the
deceased person. Fold over and anoint with a drop of dragon's blood oil.
Light the candle and light the paper to the flame and allow it to burn down.
The essence of your message will be sent to your beloved.
Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde
