A Magic Tree Spell

Now the trees are flourishing with the promise of new life. Buds are swelling and the sap is rising. Trees are frequently used in magic and now is a good time to select your very own magic tree. This will be a tree you'll wish to use in your magical work. For example, if a spell calls for a leaf, a bit of bark, or a twig, this will be the tree that will provide that item. Take a walk in a secluded area and see if there is a tree to which you are drawn. Then, make an offering to the tree. You may bury a coin near the trunk or sprinkle some birdseed. Now you've formed a pact with your tree. Seal your pact by saying:

"Magic tree, I offer a humble gift to thee.
From root to leaf, I bless this sacred ground."

You and your tree are now connected.

A Balm For Abundance

To make a useful balm, blend a small jar of cold cream together with the following:


2 drops of green food coloring
2 teaspoons rosewater
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon powdered clove
1 teaspoon mint extract
1 tablespoon of honey

Beat the ingredients until well incorporated, always stirring clockwise for growing, positive energy. Chant while you stir:

"I leave my life no more to chance,
I evoke the power of abundance!"

Visualize your needs being met. Make a label for the preparation that states its purpose "Bounteous Balm," for example. Use this cream on pulse points or areas of dry skin to bring revitalization physically, spiritually, and financially. If you can't find rose water, substitute dried powdered rose petals or scented oil.

General Uses - Improving finances. Increasing ideas or creativity. Spiritual growth. Flourishing magical gardens.

Timing - Generally during the waxing to full moon. During moon signs of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, or Pisces. Spring (specifically April and May).

Take an egg and, by poking small holes at each end of it, empty it out. Fill the egg with Cinquefoil leaf and Dogwood, then tape the holes shut. You can decorate the egg with Runes or symbols of protection, or you can leave it natural. Your home and property will be protected.

A Spell Of Reawakening

The Spring Equinox, called Ostara by many, is a day of perfect balance between night and day, darkness and light, slumber and awakening. Many craft traditions, covens, and solitaries have devised their own rituals for awakening Mother Earth at this time. Many of these can be traced back to England.

One common practice is to walk through a natural area, tap the earth three times with a staff or wand, and make a joyful noise to welcome the Goddess's return. This ritual is performed three times in keeping with the sacred number of many of the Pagan sects from western European countries. Now is not only a good time to awaken Mother Earth, but also to awaken ourselves. We should ask: Are we only going through the motions now? Or are we reawakening our spiritual selves, and seeing anew all the magical possibilities of spring? To awaken your own body, mind, and soul to spring's rebirth, give back to Mother Earth some of the things we've taken from her. Plant a tree, herb garden, or flowers. Feed her animals and birds. As you do any of these things, consecrate your offering by saying:

Mother Earth,
Goddess we walk upon,
May my gifts be of value
Even after I'm gone.
Today, while I'm here,
May my offering be,
An act of love
for you from me.
