Ok so this may be silly for me to ask but like I said when I requested to this group. I'm new and still learning the ways. so my question i have been asking my self is how do I decorate my house for samhain? I have looked it up and found nothing but how to decorate my alter which is help full really it is but I also want to decorate my house. so if you all could help me with some ideas that would be great. I don't mean to sound silly but I'm new at this and don't have any one around me that practices. thanks for the help . Merry meet Merry part Merry meet again

Blessed be

It is your house, decorate it how you want to :). I have a living tree that we
use all year round and I decorate it for each sabbat. I am going to decorate it
this weekend for Samhain. I have little witches hats and boots make from felt
and little broomsticks as well as small jack o lanterns and cauldrons. I am
thinking about maybe doing skulls to represent the ancestors as well. My home is
pretty much decorated for the seasons, so I have a lot of fall items, leaves,
scarecrows, but I do have cauldrons and the crone everywhere as well.

Hi Cayla, One of the most wonderous things about this path for me is it allows me to do as much as I want.... I used to have hay bales, figurines... all kinds of things around outside on the porch and whatever. I no longer can do all of that..... but, I use dried corn for a door hanging. I do have a cutsie scarecrow stuck in the ground in front of my patio and fall plants in the flower bed. I have some autumn garland which is made of shiny copper and gold leaves that I bought at a craft store. I set a table on my patio and use them as part of the center piece for the feast.
What kinds of things from your altar can you expand to a larger area? What are the things about this Sabbat that touch your heart? Use those things to decorate.
There is no right or wrong...so, have fun and make it meaningfull to you!

A couple of years ago, I sat on the porch, table set and candles lit to hand out trick or treat candy to the neighborhood kids.... Every one commented on how I "got into the spirit" lol lol If they only knew.
Blessings,
LadyHawk

I would just go with what makes you happy, my friend gets black roses, and
spider webs and skulls, I like pumpkins, and leaves in fall colours it just
depends on what you like.

I look upon my house as a temple and therefore an extension of the
altar. It has taken me several years to acquire all the decorations I
desire, but I have quite a variety. My altar cloth came from a fabric
store and just shows leaves and acorns in a bright cheery print. I
have, scattered throughout the house, candles scented like apples,
pumpkin pie, and other baked goods which I bought at Wal-Mart. Hobby
Lobby and other craft stores provided the swags of autumn leaves,
sprigs of bright silk autumn wildflowers, and a few traditional
decorations as well. I have black cat statues, a really nifty black
cat jack-o-lantern which holds an LED candle, a wonderful papier mache
hag/witch/crone which I found at Michael's. My salt and pepper
shakers were a holiday offering from the local grocery store (they're
shaped like squash and pumpkins). I have a black raven twined in the
spider web bells leading to my temple room/office and another on the
antlers on the altar. My end tables have little scar crow dolls which
say things like "Happy Harvest". My front door piece has a hag on a
broomstick under a crescent moon and says "Best Witches". My mantel
has another swag, lighted this time, of autumn leaves. I have orange
and tan pillar candles on my cast iron candelabra and I refilled the
hurricane lamps with a cheery red colored oil. The pride of my
decoration is a collection of stuffed Halloween cats issued from a
local grocery store. I buy them every year because each year they're
different. These sit on an ancient stereo covered with a transparent
piece of cloth emblazoned with copper and gold autumn leaves.

You decorate with whatever you feel comfortable/appropriate. In my
case, I just used the standard autumn decorations.

Sam Hain

Who is this guy they call Sam Hain?
I see his name in witchy books;
But when I ask my witchy friends;
They just give me the strangest looks.

He seems to be so important;
And everyone knows him but me;
Each year they throw him a party;
It sounds like THE cool place to be!

When I ask my friends what he's like;
They all practically turn and run;
I need to get to know Sam Hain;
So I can join in all the fun!

I asked friends to introduce me;
I'll have to introduce myself;
'Cuz when I asked they looked at me;
As if I'm a demented elf!

So I searched the yellow pages;
I called up information too;
I just can't find this guy Sam Hain;
I surfed the web 'til I turned blue!

I've heard my witchy friends planning;
And although they'll think I'm a pain;
I'm going to crash his party;
Then I'll finally meet Sam Hain!

The Wolf Man comes home one day from a long day
At the office.
"How was work, dear?" his wife asks.
"Listen! I don't want to talk about work!" he shouts.
"Okay. Would you like to sit down and eat a nice
Home cooked meal?" she asks sweetly.
"Listen!" he shouts again. "I'm not hungry!
I don't wanna eat! All right!
Is that all right with you?
Can't I come home from work and just do my own
Thing without you forcing food down my throat? Huh?"
At this moment, the wolf man started growling, and
Throwing things around the apartment in a mad rage.
Looking out the window, his wife sees a full moon
And says to herself...
"Well, I guess it's that time of themonth!"

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard
And all of a sudden he hears some music.
No one is around, so he starts searching
For the source.
   He finally locates the origin and finds it is coming from a grave
With a headstone that reads: Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827.

    Then he realizes that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is
Being played backward!

    Puzzled, he leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return
With him.
   By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music
Has changed.
This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the
Previous piece, it is being played backward.
Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar.

    When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing,
Again backward. The expert notices that the symphonies are being
Played in the reverse order in which they were composed, the 9th,
Then the 7th, then the 5th.

    By the next day the word has spread and a throng has gathered around  the
grave. They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played  backward.

    Just then the graveyard's caretaker ambles up to the group. Someone in the
crowd asks him if he has an explanation for the music.

    "Don't you get it?" the caretaker says incredulously,
"He's  decomposing! "

ALL SOULS NIGHT
Words by music by Loreena McKennitt

Bonfires dot the rolling hills
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound.
Somewhere in a hidden memory
Images float before my eyes
Of fragrant nights of straw and of bonfires
And dancing till the next sunrise.

CHORUS
I can see lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night.

Figures of cornstalks bend in the shadows
Held up tall as the flames leap high
The green knight holds the holly bush
To mark where the old year passes by.

CHORUS
I can see lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night.

Bonfires dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
And moving to the pagan sound.
Standing on the bridge that crosses
The river that goes out to the sea
The wind is full of a thousand voices
They pass by the bridge and me

It seems as if change of season colds are making their rounds.

Be sure to diffuse an antiviral oil such as Tea Tree essential oil
at home and the office. For added protection use a Tea Tree Spray
to wipe down counter tops, door knobs, work surfaces, keyboards,
lunch tables, telephones and anything else that is shared at home or the
office.

Draining Negativity Spell

Draining Negativity Spell

To rid yourself of excess negativity, pour a cup of dark, old liquid such as stale coffee or tea into an old paper cup. Send all that's bothering you into the cup, visualizing the bad energy leaving you and flowing into the liquid. Turn on the faucet at the sink, and pour the liquid into the drain. Say these or similar words:

Drain, drain, drain away,
All my pain and strain leaves today.

Watch it swirl away, out of your house and out of your life. Let the water run for a while, then toss a pinch of salt into the drain to purify it. Burn or throw away the paper cup. This spell is best done on the dark of the Moon, but is effective anytime.

Fun Friday--The Joy of Coffee

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Oct 7, 2010 9:12 pm (PDT)

This is my prayer EVERY morning! :o)

The Joy of Coffee

Caffeine is my shepherd: I shall not doze.

It maketh me to wake in green pastures:

It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.

It restoreth my buzz:

It leadeth me to the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,

I will fear no Equal (tm):

For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.

Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez:

Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.

Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the House of Maxwell forever.
