As I read the article, I come to an uncomfortable conclusion. The worst bullies I ever knew were both my parents. My father was the more obvious, making my childhood hell until my mom, my sister, and I moved out when I was 18. My mother was more emotionally abusive, demeaning my dreams and only giving support to the goals that matched her vision of what she wanted me to be (they did NOT include magic, as you can guess). Things finally snapped three Christmases ago and, though we never say it out loud, whatever good things our relationship once had are gone. I still talk to her. I still reach out. But she has all but given up on me, it feels like.
I knew plenty of bullies growing up, but, in terms of poisoning the well of what I could have been, they were always the worst...and still are.

I firmly believe that our families: those who nurture us, protect use, and give us succor from the pains of the world when needed, and for whom we in turn do the same... are who we make them to be, not who fate choose for us by accident of birth. For many, their family of choice is the same as their birth family. For others, a healthy family relationship means knowing when to end it... emotionally at least. For some, it is a brave choice for personal healing that others often condemn through a lack of understanding.... or and unwillingness to make the hard decisions in their own life they need to.
So happy mothers day to all the birth mothers out there... and also to those who have been the mothers of our hearts and spirits if not our bodies.

One day a year the time has come
For all Mother's to be as one
A day we set aside for Mother's
For there will never be no others
So strong yet frail yet warm not cold
A Love that continues when they get old
A special day for the Mom's out there
Yet for some Mom's life's a bear
For those of you who have lost someone
Know deep in their heart it can't be undone
Their wish cannot be granted that day
But maybe a tear will shed anyway
The love and loss still lingers there
The grief and sorrow that you share
To all those Mother's who weep that day
I pray that God will come your way
To send an angel just to you
For he knows best and it's true
So on this mother's day I wish
Peace and love with eternal bliss
May your day be warm and bright
All aglow with God's pure light
And when Mother's day does
come to an end

This day honors all those wonderful women we call 'mother' who nurture and nourish us. Happy Mother's Day to every woman who shares the maternal energies that help to shape the lives of those she loves. But sometimes that one word can evoke a flood of emotions that aren't always so positive, and there are many who have issues with their own mothers. Truth be told, there are sonnets written, songs sung and years of emotional baggage weighing one down as a result of this cord that connects. Umbilical or not, the attachment is very real and often has long-lasting and tremendous impact on our lives. But I believe that every relationship that influences our lives has a Divine reason for being, and behind all of those influences, challenging or not, lies a benefit and a blessing. So, today let's honor the woman we call Mom, although, like the Chinese, we should be putting that intention into practice every day. The Chinese don't have one specific day to honor Mom, believing instead that she is the ultimate symbol of family harmony and unity and she should therefore be honored every day. But sometimes Mother really does know best, and she's often the comfort and the kindness, the wisdom and the well. So we should consider an old Feng Shui cure that will gift her with health, healing, virtue and happiness. Feng Shui says that any jewelry made with jade is more miraculous than the gift of life itself. This precious gem is believed to be imbued with miraculous powers, and what Mom couldn't use more of those? This year give Mom some meaning with your card and give her a bauble made of miracles. Long live Mom!

WHy I Love Mom!

WHY I LOVE MOM
Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's
getting late. I think I'll go to bed."
She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's
lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer
for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels,
filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and
started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.
She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes
into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.
She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back
on the charger and put ! the telephone book into the drawer.
She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel
to dry.
She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom.
She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out
some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding
under the chair.
She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the
envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both
near her purse.
Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night
solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth
and filed her nails.
Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my
way," she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the
cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio
light was on.
She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside
lamps and TV's, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the
hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing
homework.
In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next
day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6
most important things to do list She said her prayers, and
visualized the accomplishment of her goals.
About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in
particular. "I'm going to bed."
And he did...without another thought.
Any thing extraordinary here?
Wonder why women live longer...?
CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL.....
(and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)
Now: GO TO BED!

A Mother's Crown
The heavens lit up with Her mighty presence,
As all the Angels looked down,
Today the Lady was placing the jewels,
In all the mother's crowns.
As She held up a golden crown,
As all the mother's looked on,
She said in Her gentle voice,
"I just want to explain each stone".
She held the first gem in Her hand
But the radiance couldn't match Her own.
For She was the light of the heavens,
Reflecting off each of the stones.
"The first gem," She said, "is an emerald,
And it's for endurance alone,
For all the nights you waited up.
For your children to come home.
For all the nights by their bedside,
You stayed till the fever went down,
For nursing every little wound,
I add this emerald to your crown."
"A ruby, I'll place by the emerald,
For leading your child in the right way,
For if you hadn't taught them about me,
They wouldn't be here with you today.
For always being right there,
Thru all life's important events,
I give you a sapphire stone,
For the time and love you spent."
"For untying the strings that held them,
When they grew up and left home,
I give you this one for courage."
Then the Lady added an amethyst stone.
"I'll place a stone of garnet," She said,
"For all the times you spent on your knees,
When you asked me to take care of your children,
And them for having faith in me."
"I have a pearl for every little sacrifice,
That you made without them knowing,
For all the times you went without,
To keep them happy, healthy, and growing."
"And last of all I have a diamond,
The greatest of all gems,
For those mothers who lost their children,
When they came home to the Summerland before them."
"This is the most precious sacrifice,
So I give the most precious stone,
For I know just how you felt,
I too lost a child of my own."
After the Lady placed the last jewel in,
She said, "The Summerland is now complete,
For every mother has her crown of jewels,
And all her children are at her feet."

Love Your Mother Earth
Happy Mother's Day! Today is an ideal day for reconnecting to the Great
Goddess, the mother of us all. For starters, you can help secure this
connection by spending a bit of time with your mother or grandmother,
acknowledging the holiday. If you are either not close to your mom or
grandma, or if they are not in your life for some reason, you can, of
course, perform this Great Mother working regardless. Whatever your own
situation, today is the day to connect to this force.
Today, I suggest you perform a ritual of surrender, gratitude, and
connection—all centered around Mother Earth.
Go to a secluded place outdoors, carrying three fresh organic apples,
and feel the energy of the Earth. Lie on the ground, feel the soil and
grass, commune with the trees and the spirits. Allow yourself to cry.
Weep deep tears, thinking about the destruction of the Earth and her
creatures. Think of all the painful, Earth-related images you've seen,
and stories you've heard. Bring to mind clear-cutting, factory farming,
and other issues that are killing our Mother. Let your tears spill on
the soil. Once you've gathered yourself, express the depth of your
gratitude. Tell the Mother why you love her. Reflect on all the positive
Earth aspects that come to mind, and give thanks. Offer the three apples
by leaving them behind. To conclude, head to the bathtub and take a bath
with the herb parsley, to further attune and bind you to the Great
Mother of us all.
