How do we Teach Others esp Children about False hopes and Promises made my
religious leaders?

How many times has this happened someone predicts the end of the world, some
will have fun and make parties, joke and seriously there are some that actually
believe and will lose everything....

It's sad when people fall for these false prediction made by these religious
idiots that cause a massive destruction not in the end of the world but the end
of the world for their followers, many people believed, many spent their
savings, in the past some where led into suicides...How can we teach our
children about these hungry starved predictors out there that bring false hope
and promises?

yet another end of the world?

From when I was a wee little wiccan, I remember those who preached about surviving the end. If the offended Earth Momma didn't visit retribution upon civilization, then it would simpley fall under it's own obesity.
*We*, on the other hand, being illuminated, wise and having built our retreat in the woods, will survive the great fustercluck, and will live in harmony with nature, after she has wiped out the bulk of those low-life cowen who have been trying so hard to poison her.
Sound familiar?

Azimov, Hienlien and Bonezitz have written about the social dynamic that drives the popularity of these doomsday cults.
Two premises are obvious to all. 1)The world sucks. 2)You don't suck, you are special and good. Wouldn't it be cool to have the "world" out of your way, so you can spend more of your time being special and good? You wouldn't have bills to pay, wouldn't have to go to court over missing a stoplight, no one to tell you you can't smoke that! Your dishes would be clean all the time and your tax return would never be audited.

Yes civilization sucks! it's in my way, and I'm looking forward to some Karma-neutral way of getting it out of my hair. But, My fear is that the prophecy of the omega man may be true. I may be the last man on earth, except for the other assholes that survived. What if you're the ONLY NICE PERSON LEFT, that the end took the form of getting all the nice people out of the way, leaving more room for asswholes? Evan worse, you wake up to find YOU are one of the asswholes deemed by Darwinian fate to be worthy?

Alas, the end of the world isn't what it used to be.

Haven't seen this movie yet, although I read the comics, back in the day...

I wonder if our Nordic or asatru friends have any comments they'd care to share?

Today's Goddess: -  Bellona

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun May 22, 2011 8:17 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: - Bellona

Tubilustrium (Rome)

Themes: Protection; Victory; Communication; Strength

Symbols: Swords or (Athame); Spear

About Bellona: She who kindles the fire of the sun and the fire in the bellies
of warriors, Bellona is both a mother and a battle Goddess, being the female
equivalent of Mars with a distinct diplomatic twist. Those who call upon
Bellona receive strategy, tactfulness, and a keen sense of how to handle
explosive situations effectively.

To Do Today: Romans spent today ritually cleansing their trumpets for battle
and honoring the people who make the trumpets. In this part of the world, a
horn not only signaled a charge but invoked the goddess's attention. So, for
what personal battle(s) do you need to sound Bellona's horn today? Find a horn
with which to do just that (perhaps a kazoo or a piece of construction paper
rolled to look like a megaphone). Shout your battle plans to Bellona so she can
respond with all her resources to help you.

If you use a sword, athame (sacred knife), or wand in magic, today is an
excellent time to take out that tool and invoke Bellona's blessing upon it. Oil
and sharpen the blade, polish the wand, then hold it in your hand as if it were
a weapon, saying,

Bellona, see this implement of magic, which, as any,

has two edges--for boon and bane. May only goodness

flow through this tool, and may I ever remain

aware of the responsibility for its use. So be it.

Anam Cara Spell

Sun May 22, 2011 8:18 pm (PDT)

Anam Cara Spell
The anam cara is the Celtic soul friend. This is someone that loves you
unconditionally, either physically or spiritually. Cover a mirror with a scarf
or translucent cloth. Light one yellow, one white, and one pink or green candle,
and place them on a table beside the mirror. Turn off the remaining lights in
the room, and light some cedar incense. Turn the mirror slightly to the left
side and greet your anam cara. Imagine that your soul friend is joining you
through the mirror and is listening lovingly to you. Speak from the heart, and
share all that you need to share. Tell everything to this friend that you are
afraid to tell others. Be completely honest. Stop every now and then and be
silent, allowing messages to come through. When you are finished, thank your
friend and blow out your candles. By: Kristin Madden,

Apuleius, The Golden Ass

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun May 22, 2011 8:20 pm (PDT)

The Gods above adore her, the Gods below adore her.
She sets the heavens spinning around the pole.
She lights the sun and orders all the universe.
At her voice the stars and planets move,
the seasons turn in their stately dance,
the Earth sings out and the elements obey.
She need only nod, and the winds blow sweetly,
clouds water the earth with rain, seeds sprout,
buds swell. Everything serves her: birds in the air,
beasts upon the mountain, serpents in the dust,
all tremble in awe of the great good Goddess.
~Apuleius, The Golden Ass

The great cosmic Goddess inspires both awe and love; she controls both the
heavens and the underworld; she is a complex of all that exists, whether we see
it as positive or negative. Learning to accept that all life is sacred - even
what we might choose to resist or reject - is a challenge. Yet the order of our
universe, of our lives, is the natural order. Change and death are not only
inevitable; they are part of nature, which creates and sustains us throughout
our lives. We cannot accept one part of the Goddess' creation and reject the
rest. We cannot have a spring without fall, love without loss.

The great traditions of the Goddess emphasize her overwhelming power, but call
us to love her. Not in spite of her power, but because of it. Not in spite of
death, but because of life. It is not easy to travel on the path of the Goddess,
but once her challenges are met, life is filled with unimaginable sweetness.
