DailyOM - Writing Your Story
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

May 16, 2011
Letting Your Voice Be Heard
Writing Your Story
Writing your own story can provide an outlet which can help purge any
frustration, anxiety, or long-dormant feelings.

Everyone, at one time or another, has wanted to express his or her story.
Writing a memoir to read privately, share with family or friends, or publish is
an emotionally satisfying way to gain perspective on your experiences and to
share your unique voice. We've all experienced feelings and events in our lives
that we are longing to write down. Giving into that urge also can provide an
outlet which can help purge any frustration, anxiety, or long-dormant feelings.
No one else has to read it. You may even want to write your story without
reading it afterward and put it away to read in the future. Satisfying the need
to tell your story is not predicated upon your writing ability. It does, however
take effort to write down the truth in detail. Your memories, captured on paper
as descriptive scenes, sights, sounds, and scents, may at first seem
disconnected or incomplete. But rest assured that you possess the ability to
shape your recollections into stories.

Writing your story is different from journaling. Everyone wants to be heard and
know that they matter. Reading your story to others meets the human need to be
heard. Writing your story helps validate your life. We all want to know that
what we have to say matters. And when you finish writing, even you may be
surprised at what you have accomplished. Your story can encompass as much or as
little of your life as you prefer. You may surprise yourself with new insights,
or you may find yourself exploring your roots, your identity, and your future
through your words. Allow your writing to guide you and write as truthfully as
possible. Don't worry about what others will think of your personal journey,
your style of writing, or your words.

Research has shown that writing a narrative filled with feelings and perceptions
can create long-term health benefits. As you write, remember to express
compassion and understanding toward yourself, particularly when writing about
traumatic events. If you are a young person, you can add to your life story as
you grow older. Your writing may even help family members know you better or
understand themselves more. Most importantly, in writing your personal story,
you are expressing yourself in a permanent way, giving a gift to your future
self, and letting your voice be heard.

Shamanic Drum Circle This Friday, May 20, Butler NJ

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Mon May 16, 2011 6:48 pm (PDT)

Good Morning Lightworkers,

Just a brief reminder that I am facilitating our Shamanic Drum Circle this
Friday at 7pm at Peaceful Paths. We will be engaging in a ceremony to release
any energy/soul parts of others that may be lingering and calling our power/soul
parts that are ready to return to us back home. This is a brief introduction to
the traditional shamanic healing process called Soul Retrieval, and it is very
powerful work! General details of the circle are below. Please RSVP to me to
reserve your spot!

Also, I will be at Peaceful Paths from 12-6 this Friday for Shaman Readings and
Healing Sessions. Whether you would like some help in making important
decisions, begin to truly heal a long-standing challenge, or have a pet in need
of healing, we will work together to empower you to find harmony physically,
emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Please contact me to make an
appointment.

Many Blessings....

In Love and Harmony,
~Denise~

Shamanic Drumming Circle
Friday, May 20th, 2011
7:00pm – 9:00pm
Spiritual Exchange: $25.00
Peaceful Paths, 7 High Street, Butler, NJ
May Focus: Calling The Soul Back Home
Our Western society commonly swaps energy with friends, coworkers, family,
significant others, etc. With the giving of ourselves to others, we become
fragmented, holding energy that is not our own, and realizing that energy cannot
help us become "whole" again. We become accustomed to walking through life with
an incomplete feeling. Sometimes, we don't even know that we're not "fully
here".
In this month's drumming circle, we will explore via journeywork what parts of
other people in our lives we are holding onto. In ceremony, we will release
these parts that are not our own and call back the parts of us that are ready to
return home to us.
Please bring drums/rattles, an eyeshade/bandana, a pillow/blanket to sit and lie
on, a bottle of water, and a notebook/pen to journal your experience!
Please RSVP to Denise to reserve your spot at swiftwindtherapy@gmail.comor
862-268-3213.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Ginger for Pain Relief

Try Ginger for lower back pain and/or muscular fatigue. Ginger is warming and
stimulates circulation.
It's helpful for arthritis and rheumatism.Use in a massage blend with Lavender
or another soothing oil.
Remember to use only a small amount of Ginger in the blend as it is kind of
overpowering and stimulating.
Avoid during Pregnancy.

Personal Power Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Mon May 16, 2011 8:28 pm (PDT)

Personal Power Spell
Incense of the day: Myrrh

Personal power means many things to many people. The common denominator in
personal power is confidence—confidence with who you are and what you can
accomplish, and that allows you to take the path of your choosing while
honoring others in the paths they choose. Power is a divine spark that burns in
each of us. This power chant can be used to ignite a power spark for any
desired goal. Visualize yourself as a powerful person obtaining a specific
goal. Begin the chant by saying: "Power divine, your spark is mine." Feel the
energy's warm flow. Allow the warmth to build through your chakras. As you feel
the warmth intensify, change the chant to: "Power divine, your flame is mine."
Release the energy as it crests. Draw your power back through your chakras from
crown to root, and ground any excess energy.

Herbs For Protection

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Mon May 16, 2011 8:29 pm (PDT)

Herbs For Protection

Ague Weed: This can be mixed with any incense and burned to break the
power of a hex that has been placed on you.

Bay Leaves: One in the corner of each room of a house is believed to
protect all who dwell there, as well as the house itself. If you
carry it on your person it is reputed to protect against witchcraft.

Bladderwrack: To be carried by the traveler as a protection,
especially when traveling by water.

Blood Root: Place on windows and doorways to protect against curses
and evil spirits from entering.

Cinquefoil: Take an egg and cut a small hole in one end. Drain the
contents and let the shell dry. Then stuff the shell with Cinquefoil
and reseal the hole with tape. As long as this egg is kept in the
home it will be protected from evil forces.

Clover: Soak one tablespoonful in one cup of vinegar for three days.
Then strain and sprinkle the vinegar in each corner of every room.
All alien spirits will leave the premises.

Elm Bark: To eliminate slander against you bury some in a box along
with a piece of paper that contains the name of the individual who is
speaking adversely about you.

Pearl Moss: Sprinkle this across the front doorway of the home to
only allow good spirits to enter (this actually works well in
conjunction with the below Sulphur one).

Sulphur: Burn at midnight near your back door to ward off evil. Make
sure the door is open and room well ventilated.

Apuleius, The Golden Ass

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Mon May 16, 2011 8:30 pm (PDT)

he sun rose golden, to dispel night's shadows
and the streets filled suddenly with people.
The whole world seemed suddenly lavish with delight.
The animals, the houses, even the sky were filled
with pleasure and serenity. It was only a sunny morning,
but it was though everything sang out to her,
the queen of stars, mother of the seasons, mistress of all.
Trees, both fruit and shade, waved their branches slightly.
The air was still. The storms were gone, dark clouds
has all dispersed, and the calm blue sky shone with her light.
~Apuleius, The Golden Ass

After she has tested Lucius, the hero of Apuleius' classic fable, the Goddess
Isis redeems not only him, but the entire world. When he awakens from his dream
of her immense and kindly power, he finds the world transformed with beauty.
Believing in her and in her love for him, he embraces the day that was to have
been his doom - and he survives, transformed.

We each face tests, some more difficult than others. When we lose a friendship
or a loved one, when we face financial difficulty, when we are challenged beyond
what we think we can endure, it is difficult to trust in the universal
beneficence the goddess Isis promised her servant. These tests seem unfair,
unsolvable, beyond our strength. And yet, over and over, we endure. Over and
over, she supports us as we move through life's difficulties. Over and over, we
wake to sunny spring days and know that she is there - hidden, perhaps, but
supporting us.
