Friday Finds An Idea!
Friday May 6, 2011
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)

Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

What I learned on my Walk Today

Posted by: "holly@ravenmadness.com" holly@ravenmadness.com   fshaunt

Fri May 6, 2011 12:36 pm (PDT)

What a beautiful Spring day!

I pushed myself away from my desk and took myself down the street to the
park and walked for my lunch break. I was greeted at the path entrance
by sister crow, cawing from overhead.

Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very
powerful. Personal Integrity are your watchwords and your guide in Life.
If you have a Crow totem, your prime path is to be mindful of your
opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak
your truth and to know your life’s mission. Crow is a omen of Change.
Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time, therefore, it sees
past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and
dark, both inner and outer.
It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such. They
are symbols of creation and spiritual strength. Look for opportunities
to create and manifest the magic of life. Crows are messengers calling
to us about the creation and magic that is alive in the world today and
available to us.

As I rounded my path for the 3rd time.. look at what was gifted to
me!!!! A Nice Big Black FEATHER!! :-)

As I’m making my rounds my dear friend the dragonfly swoops by for a
visit… and I say hello!

Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change, the messages of wisdom
and enlightenment; and the communication from the elemental world.
Dragonfly medicine beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits
which need changing. Call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists
of illusion to the pathway of transformation.

The Jasmine is starting to bud and the fragrance is already filling the
warm spring air… mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…. so relaxing!

Jasmine is an astringent, anti bacterial, anti viral, cooling and bitter
herb. It stimulates the uterus, calms nerves and is reportedly an
aphrodisiac for women.

It is also used as an alternative for cancers, as well as viral and
bacterial infections. J. officinale is used in perfumes, as well as
flavoring for maraschino cherries.

It is mostly used in Ayurvedic medicine for infections with high fever,
conjunctivitis, sunstroke, dermatitis, as well as cancer of the bones,
lymphatic nodes and breast cancer.
Also it is used for mouth ulcers, and the fresh juice is applied to
corns.

* This is useful for severe depression and especially for postnatal
depression.
* It is useful during childbirth since it relieves pain and
strengthens contractions and is also a hormonal balancer.
* On the skin it is used with great effect to treat dry, stressed
and sensitive skins and also helps to increase elasticity.
* It has anti-depressant, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, aphrodisiac,
emmenagogue, emollient, galactagogue, sedative and uterine properties.

The Robins are everywhere .. preparing their nests and fetching food for
the young ones that have already hatched.. I always smile when I see the
Robin.. it reminds me of the fairies.

A Robin totem will stimulate new growth in all areas of your life.
Believe in yourself as you move forward. Obstacles will fall by the
wayside if you do and confrontations will be for show only. This totem
gives you the ability to will new growth into your life. Meditate on
Robin and the correct path will be revealed to you.

I have to also speak of the Polk Salad that grew along the path .. It
reminds me of my grandmother… when I was young she would always send
me out to pick it when was ready. Then she would take it inside…. wash
it off and cook a big pot of it … I never ate because I couldn’t
stand the smell.. but she sure loved it!

Since pioneer times, pokeweed has been used as a folk remedy to treat
many ailments. It can be applied topically or taken internally. Topical
treatments have been used for acne and other ailments. Internal
treatments include tonsillitis, swollen glands and weight loss. Dried
berries were ingested whole as a treatment for boils, taken 1 berry per
day for 7 days. Grated pokeroot was used by Native Americans as a
poultice to treat inflammations and rashes of the breast. Independent
researchers are investigating phytolacca’s use in treating AIDS and
cancer patients. Especially to those who have not been properly trained
in its use, pokeweed should be considered dangerous and possibly deadly.

All in all I’d say another productive walk :-)

See you on the next round!

Many Blessings,

DailyOM: Empowered Forgiveness

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

DailyOM - Apologies
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

May 5, 2011
Empowered Forgiveness
Apologies
If we can remember that our response to others is important, we can realize that
trust and forgiveness go hand in hand.

In life there will always be times when we are affected by the actions of
another person. When this happens, we often receive an apology. More often than
not we say, “It’s alright,” or “ It’s okay,” and by saying this we are allowing,
accepting, and giving permission for the behavior to happen again. When we say
“thank you,” or “I accept your apology,” we are forced to sit in our feelings
rather than ignore them.

There are many of us who feel that it is easier to brush off how we really feel
than to express our discomfort with something that has happened to us. While
this may initially seem like the best thing to do, what it really does is put us
into an unending pattern of behavior; since we are not honest with another
person, we continue the cycle of letting them overstep our emotional limits time
and time again. By doing this we place ourselves in the position of victim. We
can put an end to this karmic chain by first acknowledging to the other person
that we accept their request for forgiveness; often a simple “thank you” is
enough. To truly create a greater sense of harmony in our relationship, however,
we need to gently, and with compassion, express our innermost concerns about
what has transpired. By taking a deep breath and calling upon the deepest parts
of our spirit, we can usually find the right words to say and verbalize them in
a way that lets the other person recognize ! the consequences of what they have
done.

If we can remember that our response to others is important, we can begin to
realize that trust and forgiveness go hand in hand. And when we react in a way
that engenders a greater amount of honesty and candor, we will establish a more
positive and empowering way of being and interacting others.

Hello All,
Mark, my shadow work partner, is coming to town and we are planning a very cool
weekend. It is affordable and you can chose one or both days!
Below is the flyer for Sat, June 11th. Attached is the June 12th process day
flyer. Sat. is a one day workshop for those interested in Shadow work but have
not taken any classes. This is informational as well as experiential. So if you
know of someone that wants to dip their toe in sw, this is the day.
And the following Day, June 12th, is for those that have attended previous
workshops or weekends and would like to do a piece of center work or support
others as they step out.

Many of you know how profound this work is. It certainly has shaped my life. I
really want to build our shadow work community here in NJ and I need your help.
So if you found any value to your shadow work experience, press forward and let
your peeps know about this opportunity.
Hope to see you all that weekend so we can play and dive deeper into our
healing!

Today's Goddess:  Ix Chel Sealing the Frost (Guatemala)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri May 6, 2011 8:13 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: Ix Chel
Sealing the Frost (Guatemala)

Themes: Weather; Children; Fertility; Health
Symbols: Water; Turquoise; Jade; Silver; Blue or White Items

About Ix Chel: The aqueous Mayan Goddess of water, the moon, medicine, and
childbirth, Ix Chel lives in the land of mists and rainbows. Art shows her
wearing a skirt that flows with fertile waters, dotted with water lilies, and
adorned with tiny bits of turquoise and jade. This skirt reaches all the way to
earth, filling our lives with Ix Chel's well-being and enrichment.

To Do Today: Believing that the Frost Spirit lives in the cliffs of Santa
Eulalia, people brave the sheer stones once a year and make prayers to the
weather deities to keep away further intrusion by the frost, which would ruin
crops. Ix Chel is present to witness, being part of the frost and part of the
nurturing rains, for which the priests also pray. For our purposes this equates
to calling on Ix Chel's energy to "defrost" a frozen or emotionally chilly
situation, or to rain on us with her healing power.

To protect your health specifically, carry a turquoise, which also safeguards
you during travel today. To inspire productivity or fertility, wear blue and
white items, repeating this incantation as you put them on:

Ix Chel, be in this _________ of blue, so my thoughts stay fixed on you.
Ix Chel, be in this _________ of white, bring abundance both day and night.

Siberian Folksong

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri May 6, 2011 8:16 pm (PDT)

Mother, you carried me
for nine long months.
Mother, you carried me
for nine long months
and gave birth in an hour.
Mother, you carried me
for nine long months
and bore me and raised me
to be kind and fair and generous.
Mother, you carried me
for nine long months
and bore me and raised me
to be kind and fair and generous
just like you. Just like you.
~Siberian Folksong

In this season of burgeoning growth, we celebrate the annual civic feast of
motherhood. Julia Ward Howe, a nineteenth-century feminist leader, proposed and
promoted the original idea of Mother's Day, which - before it became an
occasion for merchandising - was an attempt to draw attention to women's great
but often invisible contributions in the family.

So, too, the energy of Mother Nature in creating and sustaining her earthly
children is often invisible to us. We consume, without acknowledging, her
prodigious creativity. We throw away, without recognizing that it is our Mother
Earth who must attend to our refuse, just as our individual mothers picked
up our toys in distant childhood. As we approach the festival of motherhood,
let us remember to honor our greatest mother as well.
