We are playing the Wicked Faire which is being held in 2 hotels - the Doubletree and the Crowne Plaza. Our set will take place in the Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza.
We've got a few surprises that come along with this show. First of all, you will notice only Steve and I on stage. We are performing this event as a 2-piece. "A 2-piece metal band," you ask? Lighter And Darker Energies
An excerpt from Lightworker, The Unique Souls Who Have Come to Heal the Planet

Over the last twenty years I worked hard at building my spirituality practice and also helping those who come to me to recognize the power of the divine support that is always available for them. The current state of the world we live in sometimes makes it difficult to maintain that faith. I noticed more and more 'everyday' people coming to me seeking guidance because they were unknowingly absorbing the darker energy of the collective that was created from living in a state of fear and negative emotion. These seemingly ordinary people who had no understanding of their own complexities and acute nature suffered greatly throughout their day-to-day lives, just trying to combat the heavier and darker energies of the earth plane. These ordinary people were unaware Lightworkers who have come here to heal the planet...
After an ongoing accumulation of the darker energy on the planet, Lightworkers have been activated to return here to balance out the energy. Lightworkers descend to Earth, one by one, naturally harboring an excess of light energy, which begins to tip the scales back into energetic balance. As a Lightworker, it is important to learn to identify darker energy by the way it makes you feel-cold, heavy, and weighed down-before you can learn how to deflect it. You can feel these reactions physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Some symptomatic reactions to darker energy may include:
* Excessive fatigue
* Anxiety
* Headaches
* Backache
* Stomachache
* Depression
* Feeling alone or isolated
When you recognize what is happening, it's important to try to keep your outlook bright and positive as much as possible to deflect the most amount of the darker energy.
Only when a Lightworker becomes stagnant and is not able to process this darker energy does it begin to overshadow his or her light. This can happen if the Lightworker is not aware of the light and dark-inducing emotions and how to balance energy in a world that is already unbalanced.
Lightworkers who don't understand what is happening can find that as this darker energy deepens, it affects their actions. Addictions, antisocial behaviors and committing acts of self-harm are common signs of an excess of darker energy. Also, Lightworkers heavy with darker energy repeatedly get into unhealthy relationships, all in an effort to quell the feelings that these heavy, dense energies induce. Sadly, all this does is add more darker energy to the Lightworker's personal energy field and as he or she spirals deeper, escape can become more difficult, as if the Lightworker were mired in quick sand.
Why Lightworkers need dark energy sometimes
At times, Lightworkers will find that although the effects of darker energy may not feel good, limited periods of darkness can be beneficial. Darker energy has its time and place in a Lightworker's incarnation. Darker energy based on your emotions will force you to retreat and can indicate a period of healing. Within each and every one of us is a soft, soothing, dark space where we can be tucked in tightly and take the time to convalesce. Since we are never alone, our guides and loved ones in the spirit world will accompany us there while we repair our spirits after trauma.
The grief we suffer when a loved one transitions into the spirit world, for example, will often put us into a dark place deep inside ourselves. Feelings of sadness, isolation, and emotional pain (all dark-energy-inducing emotions) are to be expected, but also be aware that during this time, you will be guided through the internal darkness to a place where you can work through the grieving process and heal your energy. Because Lightworkers are naturally composed of more light than dark energy, it's perfectly okay to settle into the darkness for a period of time. Once the healing process is complete, you will emerge back into the light in a state of acceptance.
Another benefit of these darker periods is rapid soul progression. During dark times, the universe presents us with one or more major life lessons. As we experience them, we overcome karma, complete soul contracts, and transmute dark energy, further elevating our spiritual status and that of the collective energy. After all, a Lightworker who combats darker energy in his or her own lifetime is actually servicing the entire collective by transmuting darker energy into light.
Helping others through your own personal experiences with darkness is also another way to shift darker energy to light. Finding and dedicating yourself to causes that have personal significance is a wonderful way to transmute darker energy. Even a simple prayer for others, a thought of love and light, will begin to transmute the darker energy around you.
Oceans of emotions
Whether you consider yourself a Lightworker or not, you can create more light energy by living in a state of positive emotion. Examples of these light-inducing emotions include:
* Love
* Gratitude
* Forgiveness
* Kindness
* Acceptance
* Generosity
* Tolerance
* Understanding
Conversely, we create darker energy when we live in a state of negative emotion. Examples of negative emotions that create darker energy are:
* Fear
* Greed
* Envy
Drawing from the emotions that are made up of light energy is simply a matter of using our free will to align with the light - and then making choice after choice that will keep us in that alignment. Getting off course every once in a while is to be expected. But those who are able to stay in the light most of the time can do so only by using the power of their intention to consistently make that choice.
On a final but important note, please remember that as super-sensitive beings, Lightworkers may absorb the dark energy of those around them - or even of the collective - and feel the effects. In this way, the suffering they feel may not always belong to them. It is important to be aware of this collective darker energy so you won't be blindsided by it - especially because, as a Lightworker, you are here to balance and transmute the darker energy for the entire planet.

Beginnings and Endings

We are told all our lives that some things must end so new things can begin, time and time again that has proven to be true.
Right now my son is on a journey that keeps ending and beginning, even though it's the same journey that continues to grow and change, it has taken years to follow this dream. When he started this leg of the journey I was reminded of beginnings and endings as well as our paths through life.
When we set things down or walk away from situations in life, it doesn't necessarily mean that part of our life has ended, it may feel like it at the time, or it may just feel like you need a break from it. There is a big difference here. Looking at it as an ending sends negative energy to the future of the goal. Accepting that it is time to set it down and grow in other ways allows the dream to stay alive, and the energy to continue to build, to wait for you when you are ready to pick it up again.
I agree that we must face endings in our lives. I also agree that all to often we don't allow the ending to fully take place before moving on with almost the same circumstances, only to live the same patterns over and over again. I know this personally, I have lived it, I think I had to in order to get where I am now. Part of my private practice allows me to help people through endings in their lives, and opening them up to see the patterns they are living over and over again. In fact it brings be great joy to assist people in this manner, I am eternally grateful for the gifts I have.
If we break our lives down to the basic necessities that we think we need to be happy, we can see relationships, jobs/careers, family, and our passions/dreams are at the top of the list. We can also look back at the journeys each one of these has taken us on. If we look with an objective eye, we will be able to see if we allowed the endings to happen before the beginnings started. We can see when we walked away, when we sat down to rest, and when we simply gave up. It is very important in our growth to take a look at the past to see where we have been so we can chart a straighter path to where we want to go. This can be a very therapeutic exercise as long as we don't become attached to the past and stay there.
There are times in our lives when we don't completely understand why something ended, or we weren't ready for that part of our lives to end. These are very dark times in our journey, very emotional, a time when we look around us for support and answers. These are also the times in our lives when we grow and learn the most about our selves. We can't see it at the time, but this ending is a gift in our life, it is setting us up for bigger and better to come into our lives. These times are also times when we have the opportunity to take control of our lives, rather than let life happen to us.
We also have times in our lives when we want something to end, such as a job, or relationship and it just doesn't look as though it will ever happen. This is the universes way of getting us to look within for the answers we seek. All to often we look outside of us, when all we need to know is right inside. We obviously have a lesson to learn where we are at in this point of our life before it can end. Once we have learned the lesson, the situation falls to the wayside with no effort from us. The sooner we start looking for what it is we are meant to learn, the sooner we can move on to a better place in our life.
Many times our journeys connect themselves, much like the one my son is on. When we have a dream that we want to accomplish in life, sometimes we need to break it down into steps we can manage. People who can do this, and stay focused on the goal are my biggest inspirations. There has been many beginnings and endings along the way, but with each ending, he knows there will be a beginning when he is ready to take the next step. He has always ended each step with his eye on the next. Life has taken him away from the goal at times, but he has always returned to it. He lives his passion at a very young age, and for the I am so excited for his journeys, and very proud of his focus. He is on some what of the last leg of a journey that will get him his Bridge Watchman's papers, this part of the journey takes him back to the Caribbean to finish up his required sea time. He is working aboard the Norwegian Tall Ship, Sorlandet. When this trip ends in a few
weeks, he will start a new journey of studying for exams in order to end the overall journey to get his ticket. Once he has his ticket he will start a whole new journey of sailing and teaching for his career.
This journey began as a child of only 11 years old when he and his twin brother sailed on a tall ship for the summer. He has worked each year to get back out on the waters ever since and hasn't missed a season yet. Together they sailed the great lakes several times, the Saint Lawrence, crossed the Atlantic, and he has sailed in the Caribbean for 3 winters now. He has had the experiences of a life time as far as I am concerned while at the same time being responsible for not only his own future, but the future of many while working the jobs he has had. I will never forget the first time I saw him dock a boat more than 200 feet long filled with passengers in the Toronto harbor, I think at the time he may have been 20 years old, definitely a proud mom moment.
Like I said, life has taken him away from this goal many times, but he has always returned. It may seem like this has taken him many years to achieve, yes, 14 years is a long time, but the point is he stayed true to himself, allowed the beginnings and the ending to take place. He worked to pay off each leg of the journey, took some down time, and started back up again. I am proud to say, he has taught me so much, in honoring the cycles of his life, he lives his passion.

Prosperity Tips

Lately many of my friends and clients have been experiencing financial challenges and are asking me for advices how to have a smooth ride, instead of a roller coaster. Here are some of the Prosperity tips I learned from my teacher Yogi Bhajan (the first to bring Kundalini yoga to the West):
Think big and you become big. God is Infinity. Whenever the finite tunes in with Infinity, it enriches itself. That's the secret of prosperity.
Your supply is equal to your demand. There is no lack of supply, only a lack of demand.
No one can limit you. If you want to limit yourself, you can. Otherwise the entire resources of the Universe are yours to use.
Visualize as much as you conceive of yourself receiving and then lay positive claims to that visualization.
Success adores prosperous attitude, so if you like to be a millionaire act like one.
One prosperous thought is more powerful than 1000 thoughts of failure. Be positive! Eliminate negative thoughts.
Make the intelligent choice, persist with your success and not with your failures.
A failure is only a step on the way to your success.
Gratitude is an open door to abundance.
Paying debts is one of the primary prerequisites to becoming prosperous.
You must start giving before you can start receiving. This is the nature of the universe we live in.
Truly great fortunes were not received by hoarding money, but by circulating it.
Make no excuses for your desire to be prosperous; it is a divine desire that should be given divine expression.
The shocking truth about prosperity is that is shockingly right instead of shockingly wrong to be prosperous.
You ought to be rich; you have no right to be poor.
Believe in yourself! Believe in what you're doing, what you say, and stand strong on your belief. If you don't believe in you, who should? So believe that you are better or are going to be better. Believe that no matter what you look like or whatever your circumstances are that you are worth the best, and if you believe that you are worth the best don't settle for less. Don't settle for negativity. Have a positive mind about yourself and know that you are unique and that's what make you worth every good thing that is coming your way.
Think only in prosperous terms and think big!
There are two forces on earth, the power of love and fear, there are two ways of living in this world; the way of worry and the way of relaxation. If you worry, you have to concentrate to imagine, and it becomes physical work. But if you turn your mind to the Universal Mind, then things will come to you.
In order to manifest we have to be present in our bodies and connected to the Earth. We have to be here now. To attract and to receive, we have to be home when the postman arrives. It takes careful, vigilant practice to cultivate an awareness of the self. We have to train ourselves to be present to the feelings and sensations in our bodies. We have to process the mental stories that come up, so our emotions become pure expressions of our soul instead of mental trauma dramas. We have to cultivate a strong navel center so we can take effective and timely action. We have to cultivate a powerful base chakra so we have the ability to stay present. We have to be comfortable and free in our second chakra so we can simultaneously contain (consciously hold) and expand our creative energy.

Throughout my life, I have been able to see the energy from the other side. I knew that spirits were present and that I had the ability to communicate with them. I kept this to myself until one evening, in 2002, I was having dinner with a co-worker. I was aware of the fact that my friend's husband, who had been deceased for the last year, was standing beside me. I had been seeing my friend's husband for a few months since his crossing over to the other side. My co-worker, whom I did not know was spiritual, until that point in time said, "Joy, I know you are aware of the man standing next to you smiling. Do not be afraid, I see him too." With that, I finally was able to share my experiences with someone. It turned out that my co-worker was American Indian, a very wise spiritual man, who could see energy from other dimensions. He explained to me that it is like a ceiling fan. When the blades are still, you can see them clearly. When the blades are
spinning fast, they disappear through the energy. Our loved one's that cross over are still here with us. Their soul is just vibrating on another dimension of energy. We are still able to communicate with them. I learned that love is eternal and your loved ones never leave you. We each have a soul group. Our souls will reincarnate surrounding ourselves with some of the same souls from our past lives. This is why many of you think to yourself upon meeting someone, "I know I have met this person before. Or, I feel like I know him/her. Or, I get a bad feeling from this person. Or, I get a good feeling about this person." Our cell memory remembers feelings, emotions, and energy...good or bad. So, you must always be aware of what kind of familiarity this energy is because karma can play a large role. What goes around comes around, they say! The Universe is balanced, whether things balance out in the same life or in a different life, the saying remains the
same.
Q: When did you notice that you were connecting with the other side?
A: When I was a young child, I used to sit and play games with my friends. The only thing is, those friends, were not able to be seen by anyone but me. They were real, but they were spirits. My family thought I had imaginary friends. Years later, my imaginary friend Yacki, was not so imaginary when a psychic medium picked up on his energy. I had never heard of the name Yacki before and just recently found out it is a name commonly used in Israel. Yacki and I must've had some kind of a past life in Israel, because Yacki is the name I knew that spirit to be.
Q: How did you process your gift? Was it hard? Was it easy?
A: I used to be very frightened and would close my eyes when I would see spirits, the only problem was, it didn't matter if I closed my eyes. They were still there because I saw them with my 3rd eye. I realized through the years, that I had to not panic. Spirits want to only bring you love, peace, comfort, and insight. So, if I took a deep breath and listened to them, I could easily translate what they were saying. The spirits, spirit guides, and loved ones are always so excited and eager to speak to the soul I am reading for, that sometimes they will appear a few days before if that soul already knew they were contacting me. I have had spirits follow me around for weeks or even months if a particular reading was delayed, or if they still had more to say.
Q: What is the coolest thing you would say about being able to help your clients connect with their loved ones who have crossed?
A: To know that you are making a difference in someone's life and bringing them peace is a true gift. I remember how I would suffer long ago to know I lost someone close to me. Just to know that they are seriously still with you is a true miracle. I love bringing my clients miracles and giving them faith that all is meant to be the way it is and that all that will come to be is in divine time. My "thing" is names. Every medium has a different "thing." Once I hear the name, I then see the physical body of who they were in their life and I start hearing all the messages. I love naming the names of my client's family members, close friends, co-workers or deceased relatives. They know it is no joke, when I get all the names and they know I have never met them or spoken to them before. I realize I am just a medium, like a tunnel or a telephone they can go through to connect to each other. It is amazing!
Q: When did you decide to become a reader?
A: In 2004, I decided to start my company Healing Visions. I started giving readings and then realized I wanted to reach more people. Having a website and really getting out there by letting people have the opportunity to make an appointment with me, so I could take quality time out and really connect to their charts for them was important. Instead of just blurting out messages all over town, it is so nice to just sit and read for people whether it be in person or over the phone. I tend to like phone readings the best because it is all based on energy, all of the physical elements of Earth do not get in the way and it is just you and the other spirit you are reading for....and of course all their guests that pop up for the fun too!
Q: Out of spiritual modalities you have learned, which is your favorite?
A: My abilities as a Medium, Channel, Mind Reader, Spiritual Counselor, and Intuitive, Animal Communicator, Reiki Master/Chakra Balancing.
As a medium, it is my intention to be the channel through which your loved ones who have crossed over into spirit form reconnect with you. It is the spirit's intention to convey to you their true essence and love while letting you know they have made the journey and are okay. The connection can be a tremendous source of healing for both worlds. Whether your loved ones wish to make amends with you and find closure, assure you they are still very much a part of your life, or simply provide you with guidance along your path; the experience will renew your faith that the soul does survive. My job is not to question or judge the information that comes through, but simply to deliver the messages. It is my prayer that everyone in need has the opportunity to experience a genuine connection with the spirit world. It brings me great joy to be able to share with you the peace and comfort I have found in this healing work.
Though I have a strong psychic ability that presents itself during each reading, please keep in mind that the emphasis of my work is making connections with and delivering messages from loved ones who have passed on.
The first thing any medium will tell you is not to have any expectations when going for a reading. That is, do not decide who it is you are going to hear from and what information they will bring through. The spirits are in control when it comes to the communication process. The strongest energy with the greatest need to contact comes through. Sometimes it's not who you expect to hear from. You can help increase your chances of hearing from desired loved ones by praying and talking to them prior to your session. The spirit world responds to your thoughts, and by sending out thoughts of love you are inspiring them to come through. I ask the spirits to make reference to many memories or significant details about themselves or you. Though sometimes the information they bring up is factual, you may wonder why it is they chose to bring up seemingly insignificant things. The reason is to validate their identity and to prove they are still with you, though in a
different dimension.
When you come for a reading, I will begin by briefly explaining the process. I will say a silent prayer for protection and go into the state of alpha. This is when I start to acknowledge the spirits in the room, either by initials, names, relationship to you or significant details that best reflect them. Usually several spirits come in the beginning to say hello, but only the closest energy to you carries on the dialogue. I continue to deliver the messages until they decide to pull back their energy. It takes a tremendous amount of the spirit's energy to come through and they can only sustain it for so long. The stronger the energy of your loved one is, the longer, louder and clearer the connection.
Whether their intention is to make amends and find closure with you or other living family members and friends, to acknowledge what's going on in your life now and offer guidance on your path, or simply to let you know they are still "alive" and watching over you and your loved ones, know that by coming through they are expressing their love for you.

You are a love conqueror and a love champion. You have demonstrated these before you were even born. Remember, you beat out millions and millions of sperm cells to be here today. Congratulations! LOVE ordained you to be here!
Now that you are here, make your love mark here. Celebrate your life with love. Build love time monuments. Loosen up and do something silly, in the name of LOVE. Be your own love superhero. And be the star of your own love show and stop trying to audition for other people's love shows.
Make to most of every love moment before it becomes a memory and before your age is more than a century. Will you let the moment fade away? Or will you let it be for eternity? Can you let the pieces fall as they may? Or will you stand up with something love-significant to say? We all have a love lifetime to live once. Make the best of it in every way. Surrender to Heal
All my life I've felt ashamed of the way I look and my relationship with food. My parents, looking back, shared this same feeling. They spent a lot of time and money on looking the best. They invested as much in their three daughters.
When I was six, I went on my first liquid diet. The chalky beverage held promise of a thin, pudge-free body, acceptance by others, love and a new me. I wasn't entirely sure what was wrong with me, but I was aware there was something.
It was around this age that I brought two of my friends up to the bathroom scale. I jumped on, shared the number, and pressured them to do the same. Both resisted, and one left the house entirely. I didn't understand why this didn't seem normal to them. It was common in our household. Everyone knew what they weighed and everyone strived to do better, no matter the numbers. It was a family mantra. "If only you were thinner...you'd have the friends you want...you'd get to do the things you want to do...you'd be more popular..."
The pressure my parent put on us in this regard was met with resistance. Their three daughters morphed into snacking machines once the final school bell had rung for the day, often chowing down bowls of cereal until we were sick. This, over time, led to extra pounds and that led to panic from our parents.
We were put on more diets and the microscope got larger. On Sunday afternoons, after our biggest meal of the day, we would stand in line in our underwear as our mom would, at the direction of our dad, weigh and measure each of us. Several hours after this concluded, our dad would take us down to the local mini-mart where we would order pizza and pick out sundae fixings.
What followed for me was years of deprivation diets, followed by shameful binges, fluctuating weight to extremes, and the ever-present feelings of shame.
I've had thin times during my life, usually brought on by a failed love relationship and sadness and motivated by my overwhelming fear of not being good enough. But most of my life I've been heavy, the extra pounds like bricks I used to build walls between me and other people.
Recently, I left the workforce. I felt compelled to stop the world as much as possible and heal my soul. During my attempts to sit down and write creatively every day, I developed a small frame of time, following meditation, where I put pen to paper and write whatever comes up. The first day, I wrote a very boring account of the day before...what I'd eaten, how I'd exercised, etc. I remember closing the journal and thinking, "there, I've started getting a handle on it."
The next day, my husband and I began the process of clearing the energy in our apartment. Going through boxes, and dumping anything that we felt we were ready to be rid of for good. I opened up several old journals and felt my soul drop as I flipped through pages and read journal entries almost exactly the same as the one I'd made the day before. I felt sad, as though nothing would ever change for me.
The next day, I began to write after meditation. This time it was different. My hand went numb, with cold then hot tingling sensations, and the pen seemed to be moving of its own accord. I was receiving information that was not coming from me. The language was different. The messages were not messages I had heard before. The messages were mostly about the life lesson I had just learned the hard way and about the writing that I am meant to do; there was also a strong message about turning over to Divine Spirit that which troubled me a lifetime.
A few days later, I was at a local bookstore to meet an old friend for coffee and a chat. I arrived early, and headed straight for a book I'd not read before called "A Course in Weight Loss," by Marianne Williamson. The strange thing was, it felt very much like I was on a mission, but had no idea I was on a mission. I picked up the book, read two pages and headed to the register to purchase it.
I'm filled with excitement as I write this because I feel that I have been divinely inspired. I have waited a long time for this feeling, this experience, to wash over me. I've searched many dead ends, only to second guess myself and not trust that what I was receiving was a divine message.
Today, I am done second-guessing myself. I'm done struggling. Today, somehow, I coax myself to the paper and pen, and writing comes. I can see now, as if I'm being shown a slideshow, how every experience, every triumph, and every failure that came before this last measure of time was necessary to get my spirit into alignment so that I may receive the information I desire to share with the world.
I am divinely guided today; we all are. We have only to look up, then look inside, to see it.

Please join us this Thursday (7:30 pm sharp) for a unique and FUN Full Moon observance!
Hands of Change (HOC) will meet on Feb. 17 at the Unitarian Society, 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.
Kokopelli and Fe'e will serve as Ritual Couple in Service, with Nadine Bergeron as Lead Drummer.
PLEASE BRING YOUR DRUM or other percussion instrument (or just bring your playful heart!).
We will first cast circle by drawing down and sharing MoonFire.
Then, we will invite the Elemental Spirits and the God and Goddess, using drumming and dancing.
Once the circle is cast and warded, we will conduct a working to use Full Moon energy to revitalize us and empower us to fulfill our dreams and accomplish our resolutions for healing change in our lives. Whether you've started at Samhain, Yule, or New Years Day - or at a HOC ritual or your own personal occasion - many have made resolutions to improve their own life in some way. (And if you haven't chosen such a resolution, you can take time to do so at this ritual.)
This Thursday's ritual will provide an opportunity to give you a BOOST in your resolve to continue to make the changes you need, whether for the month, for the season, or for the year.
AND it will be a fun way to pass a cold winter's night, as we help warm each other's hearts and look forward to the approaching Spring season.

The Unseen World
Just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Just because we can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, although this is a common way in which people deny the existence of spirit guides, angels, and other unseen helpers in our lives. However, anyone who has encountered such beings can attest to the fact that they do, indeed, exist, just as our breath exists, keeping us alive, even though we can't see it. The wind exists, too, but we only know this because we feel it on our skin and hear it moving the leaves on the trees. All around us and within us are things we can't see, and yet we know they are just as real as the grass beneath our feet.
What we see and don't see may just be a matter of perspective, like the ladybug who sees the leaf on which she sits, but not the tree the leaf grows on, or the person sitting beneath it. And the person beneath the tree may or may not see the ladybug, depending on where he focuses his attention. Still, all of these things, whether seen or not seen by the person or the ladybug, exist in reality. Some people are more gifted at accessing that which we cannot see, but given an open and willing heart, anyone can tune into the invisible realm and begin to find their way.
Human beings have always done this, and it is only recently that we have fallen into distrusting the existence of what we can't see. If you have lost touch with the unseen world, all you have to do is resolve to open your heart to its existence, and it will make itself known. Closing your eyes in meditation and visualization, or engaging the unseen through the written word, are just two ways to welcome the invisible back into your life. Whatever you choose to do, cultivating a relationship with that which you can't see is a time-honored human practice that can greatly enhance your life.

Treasure mapping is the art and science of mapping
and achieving our desires. In this fun & creative workshop, we'll be
combining visualizations, affirmations and practical measures specially designed
to help swiftly manifest our goals. At our first meeting we'll be creating
our own unique treasure map using images, photos and words. We'll then
learn visualizations and meditations to remove obstacles and manifest our
dreams.
Most manifestation workshops end here, but not ours! We know
working a spiritual plan can bring up questions and concerns along with
success. Sometimes, a life change can cause new or unforeseen obstacles to pop
up. When next we meet (at a convenient time for all), we will share our
successes, tweak our treasure maps and keep on
manifesting!
Please bring a notebook, pen, and a blank sheet of
paper (or posterboard if you want to go bigger) and photos, images, words and
phrases which illustrate the desires you wish to manifest. We'll have some
colored markers, fancy scissors and some special extras to jazz up your
maps.

The Lupercalia was one of the most important Roman festivals, a rowdy fertility festival loosely connected to the legend of the wolf that suckled the twin babies, Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, in her cave the Lupercal on Palatine Hill.
On this day, a band of priests called Luperci gathered at the Lupercal, sacrificed goats and a puppy and made offerings of a sacred grain mixture, mola salsa. Two youths were smeared on the forehead with the sacrificial blood, which was wiped off with swatches of milk-soaked wool. After a feast, they stripped off their clothes, wrapped themselves in the still-warm, still-wet skins of the sacrificed goats and ran around the circumference of the hill, striking everyone they met with goatskin thongs, called februa. Being struck by these whips was considered lucky for women who wanted to become fertile.
The whipping may have served several functions. It may have stirred up the blood. Or it may have been considered an expiation, a way of driving out sins and demons (as the Japanese expelled them at Setsubun by throwing beans (see Feb 5)). A similar custom is found at Carnival time in France and Germany: inflated pork bladders, said to contain the souls of the dead, are attached to sticks and used to beat members of the opposite sex.
When the Pope first tried to ban the Lupercalia in the 5th century, there was so much outrage that the papal residence was completely surrounded by the angry mob. He backed off and the festival was not officially banned again until the next century.

Feb 15: Lantern Festival
The culmination of the New Year's festivities occurs on the 15th day of the first Chinese lunar month, during the full moon, with the Feast of the Lanterns. The Chinese hang lanterns of all shapes and sizes from doorways. Popular designs include lanterns shaped like red carp and goldfish and sheep (because the word for sheep is the same as the word for good auspices). Also popular are multifaceted good-luck lanterns, designed to resemble a water caltrop, a root vegetable whose name in Chinese sounds the same as the word for good luck.
Sweet rice balls (yuan xiao), are the traditional food for this holiday. Traditionally they are made by dipping a kernel of flavored sugar repeatedly in rice flour and water to form successive layers. The balls are then boiled in water until the sugar center dissolves into syrup. The simpler version, usually served today, involves stuffing the sweet rice balls with red bean paste, sweet crushed sesame seeds or peanut paste. Making the rice balls is a family ritual and while they are being made, family members only mention good things, to insure luck for the coming year.

The Tibetan supreme feminine power, Shakti does not stand by idly when
we are in distress. She is an active, loving force for change. When
called upon, Shakti manifests within us as intelligence, instinct,
willpower, energy, action, and ultimately, magick. Shakti especially
energizes communication skills, so that our words will be heard clearly
and understood.
To Do Today: Losar is the Tibetan new year celebration, highlighted by monks casting out negative influences using brilliantly colored costumes, masks, and
joyful dancing. Burn lotus incense (or any sweet, floral scent) to
remember Shakti today, and fill your living space with her abundant
power for postitive transformation. Alternatively, boil some
pleasant-smelling cooking spices in water to release their aroma and
energy throughout the sacred space of your home.
If possible, make a
mask or a token that represents what you want Shakti to banish. Put it
on (or carry it) early in the day, and remove it vigorously sometime
during your festivities. Bury this with six stones (to represent
Shakti's control) to symbolically bury the bad habit or situation,
giving it into Shakti's care.
In keeping with today's celebrations, wear bright-colored clothing to chase away evil
influences, which cannot bear the sight of radiant beauty.

An unusual park can be found in north-central Indiana. It exists not for the people of the state, but as a preserve for wolves and other wild canines that still roam this industrialized state. On Friday evenings, just before sundown, a guide takes parties out to small hill. There is no light except the Moon’s. Everyone stands in silence waiting for the ancient song of the wolves to begin. You may feel you’ve been holding your breath when finally the first howl of the night is heard echoing from another hilltop. Soon the chorus is picked up by the other wolves, a discordant yet beautiful song. As you raise your head to join the chorus, you may feel a primal stirring inside you. You know without being told that this is an ancient magic. Wolves mate for life, and often will remain in their birth packs unless dominance issues force part of the pack out of the area. In honor of this love and loyalty, the Romans instituted the festival of Lupercalia, or
the Festival of the Wolf. Later on the church would rename this festival in honor of St. Valentine. If you want to call out for a mate, or you wish to strengthen your bonds with your present partner or coven, go outside on Lupercalia Eve and raise your voice high in the ancient wolf song. This will help bond you with your partner, and bond all who participate to beautiful Mother Earth.

In ancient Rome, this was the day of Lupercalia, the Feast of Juno Februa - she who gives our month its name. Queen of the Goddesses, Juno represented the inner essence of femininity found in every woman. Part of this power was the great gift of motherhood which, throughout human history, has been a dangerous occupation for women. Such rituals as the one the Roman poet Ovid describes here emphasized the risk women took with their lives in bringing forth their children.
Whenever we enact the creative power of the goddess, we open ourselves to risk and potential loss. This deep truth is often hidden today, when creativity is diminished to entertainment. But to truly create something new, we must encounter our fears and our despairs, as well as our hopes and great dreams. Queenly Juno reminds us of the power and risk of the creative imperative.
