Sibyl,
Thanks for the pics. I can just imagine the congestion in the parking area, as they really don't have a great area for that unless they have changed it since 2007.

Yes, it did look crowded, but the energy of the gathering seemed very upbeat! Although I don't enjoy crowded conditions, I would have loved being there, I think. You were there in 2007? Lucky you!

Deily Feng Shui Tip for June 23

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Thursday, June 23

How many times have you had someone tell you to 'just breathe' and 'let it go'? Every time I moan to someone about something that's really bothering me, I'm quite sure that I'll hear that same piece of empowering advice. On this 'Let It Go Day' I want to offer a specific way of breathing that will help you to stay centered in the energies of the day while also helping you eliminate anything keeping you from a state of perfect bliss and balance. Inhale, visualizing light beginning at your feet and traveling smoothly up the inside of your body until it gets to your eyebrows. Breathe this light into your body in five consecutive stages without exhaling. In the sixth stage you can exhale while seeing the light shoot out the top of your head, returning to the source of all light from whence it came. As you breathe, mentally hear the sounds of the Buddhist Six True Words mantra and be sure to visualize all corresponding colors as follows: Inhale one big breath and then immediately 'see' white light traveling from the bottom of your feet to your knees. Hear the sound Om. Next see red light traveling from your knees to your hips and hear the sound Ma. See yellow light moving from your hips to the naval while hearing the sound Ni. Green light goes from your belly button up to your neckline while you hear the sound Pad. Blue light goes from your neck to your eyebrows as you hear the sound Me, and lastly, see black light moving from your eyebrows and shooting out the top of your head going towards infinity. Hear the sound Hum. Now, do the whole sequence two more times for a total of three inhalations/exhalations. Now you're aligned and balanced and have increased positive Chi in your internal and external environments. So, it's time to relax and Let It Go!

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Midsummer Fairy Contact--Part 2

Protection From Mischievous Fairies

While you might like to meet some happy and friendly fairies, there
are others who like to play cruel and evil tricks on humans at
Midsummer. Their favorite prank is to lead travelers away from their path; this is called being pixie-led. Other fairies try to frighten people, steal away young girls for brides, or shoot harmful elf-bolts at those who intrude on fairy territory. It may be necessary to take precautions against the attentions of such creatures.

According to Irish lore these fairies try to pass around the baal
fires in a whirlwind in order to extinguish them, but may be kept off by
throwing fire at them.

Humans can protect themselves from fairies by leaping through the
fire. Cattle too are protected from the attentions of evil spirits by
driving them through the embers of the baal fire.

Other charms against fairies: Cross a stream of running water. Carry
a bit of rue in your pocket. If fairies are troubling you, confuse them
long enough to allow you to make your escape. If a friend has been
dragged into a fairy ring, toss one of your gloves inside and the revelers will disperse. To keep fairies out of your bedroom, scatter flax on the floor.

Fairies are terrified of iron and they will vanish immediately on
being shown any form of the metal. Keep a knife or a nail in your pocket and under your pillow at night. A hag stone, or naturally holed stone, hung up by the door or in the byre will keep bad fairies away. A rowan cross-tied with red thread will offer protection when hung in a high place in the house or byre. The besom placed beside the hearth will prevent fairies coming down the chimney. A witch bottle, or bottle containing sharp objects such as nails and pins, ashes, salt and rowan wood, can be buried before the doorstep for protection.

If oatmeal is sprinkled on clothes or carried in the pockets no bad
fairy will approach. St. John's Wort prevents fairies from carrying off
people while they sleep. A mulberry tree in your garden will keep away evil fairies. At the dangerous time of Midsummer, you should dance around the mulberry tree counterclockwise for protection. This is likely the origin of the rhyme "Here we go round the mulberry bush."

Good fairies start to come out around the Vernal Equinox, and are
very animated by Beltane, or May Day, and at the peak of their activities by Midsummer. By Samhain, most of the good fairies have disappeared
from sight. Bad fairies, such as goblins, rule the winter period.

Moon Readings

Moon Readings

Here are some ideas for how you can use the tarot along with the energies of the natural lunar cycle to reach a goal, complete a task, or simply live more in tune with the energies of the Moon. There are three levels of readings presented:

Basic: Four lunar phases, one tarot card per phase
Intermediate: Eight lunar phases, two tarot cards on the quarters, one for the eighths
Advanced: Lunar phases plus astrological transits and void-of-course periods

The theme of these readings is to pay special attention to the phases and Moon signs and how they influence your emotions and activities during the month. the overall concept is to choose one area to focus on for the coming lunar month, and use the energies of the Moon to help you bring it to fruition. Your goal should be something that can be realistically accomplished in this time frame, or a small part of something larger that can be broken down into month-long increments. I have found that a month is a useful timeframe for accomplishing reasonable tasks, getting focused, and feeling good about the result, and this is one reason why lunar cycles are so valuable.

No matter which reading you're doing, keep a record of what happens with respect to the goal or area you have chosen to focus on. Be as specific as possible: if something noteworthy happens with respect to that goal, write down the date and time that it happened. At a consistent time each day, also write down your feelings about the task that day--good, bad, indifferent, focused on something else entirely, confused, elated, depressed, encouraged, etc. Since the Moon governs your emotional life, this record of your emotions will be very interesting to look at later. Also, as you go along, write down any progress, or lack of progress you make toward your goal. It's especially helpful to do this near the end of the month, so you can create a retrospective. At the end of the lunar month, take a close look at these journals and evaluate how and whether the lunar energies and the tarot readings helped you achieve your goals.

Basic--Quarter Phases

This is a month-long reading where one card is drawn at each quarter phase. Note in advance when the quarter phases will occur, so you can draw one card at the New Moon, First Quarter Moon, Full Moon, and Third Quarter Moon. It is beneficial to draw the card as close to the actual time of that phase as possible, but any time within the first day after the Moon enters that phase would be fine.

New Moon: The beginning of your project, taking the initiative, getting started, helping the seed to grow. You will use this card to focus your approach on getting started on this project for the first week, until the quarter Moon. If you prefer to wait to draw this card until just after the Dark Moon, when the first sliver of light appears, that is fine also.

First Quarter Moon: This is where you meet the first challenging energy, and you'll need to analyze and evaluate how things are going and possible modify your approach. If you use uprights and reversals, you can use them to see how much difficulty you are likely to encounter, although you may already be quite aware of how well it's going. Possible questions for this phase could include: "What problem do I need to resolve to get back on track?" "What should be my approach over the next week to have the best chance of accomplishing my goal?" or even just "How's it going so far? Anything I should know about?"

Full Moon: This phase of the Moon represents accomplishment, completion, maturity, and fulfillment of your project or goal. The card yo draw here will help you determine what to do with this accomplishment over the next week. There may still be something you need to finish up, or this may be a card about sharing or disseminating what you have learned to others, or the card may simply be reflecting your accomplishment back to you, so that you can appreciate the progress you've made. If things have really fallen apart, you may want to use this card to ask yourself how things went so dramatically wrong, or what you can do over the next week to lessen the damage.

Third Quarter Moon: This quarter is where we let go of our task or accomplishment and prepare for the next cycle. Questions yo may want to ask with your tarot cared include: "What have I learned from this experience?", "How would I do it differently next time?", "What accomplishment can I feel good about?", What do I need to do to wrap this up?", or "What should I do to recharge and get ready for the next cycle?"

A completed example of a Phases of the Moon reading can be found at www.tarotmoon.com/readingdescriptions/PhasesMoon?phasesmoon.html. ; In this case, the reading itself was used to help the reader decide what to focus on in the coming month. If you would like to do it that way, then the New Moon card sets the tone and direction for the coming month by giving guidance on what would be most productive to work on. I did this reading at a time when my life was so complicated that I couldn't decide what to focus on. the answer was "Focus on simplifying your life!"

Intermediate--Eight Phases

This is an expanded version of the previous reading, with the intermediate phases added in and extra cards at the quarter phases.

New Moon (Two Cards): One card is the seed, the idea, the overall focus of the entire coming month. You can use this to choose your goal for the month, or to evaluate the types of challenges and activities and energies you will need to deal with in order to achieve your goal. the second card is the initial planning for your idea: how to make it happen, what research you might need to do, getting your reserves together, and getting ready.

Crescent Moon (One Card): One card is drawn here to represent your first actions toward your goal. there is positive energy flowing between the Sun and the Moon during this phase, so make use of that energy to get off to a good start.

First Quarter Moon (Two Cards): Choose one card to represent difficulties, problems, or adjustments to your plans that you might need to make, and another card to represent the actions you need to take in order to positively resolve this challenging energy.

Gibbous Moon (One Card): This card indicates what you need to do to bring your project or goal to fruition at the Full Moon--any last-minute adjustments or changes, final issues to resolve, or how to deal most productively with what may be a very busy time.

Full Moon (Two Cards): One card is chosen to represent what you are bringing into being at the Full Moon. This can be compared to the card you drew at the New Moon to see if you are creating what you expected to bring about, or something different. This is the culmination of your efforts this cycle, though not necessarily your last chance to complete something. The second card represents how to find balance in this emotional time when the Sun and the Moon are in opposition and tugging you in different directions. This card shows how to integrate the emotional and intellectual sides of whatever you are bringing into being.

Disseminating Moon (One Card): This card represents what you can do with this creation--celebrate, learn from it, give it away, teach others about it, write an article, check it off your list.....

Third Quarter (Two Cards): One card is chosen to represent any last thing you need to do to finish up this cycle, tie up loose ends, settle issues, put on the finishing touches, and begin the process of releasing this task. The second card is an evaluation card--how did things go? What can you learn from what happened this cycle? What was done well or poorly?

Balsamic Moon (One Card): This card represents how to achieve a complete release of what has happened this cycle, and how you can rest and recover from its activities. This card suggests a way to recharge your energies, release any negativity, and even release attachment to your positive outcomes. this is a time to quiet your mind and body for renewal of the cycle.

Advanced--Astrological Signs and the Void-of-Course Moon

This reading supplements the basic or intermediate reading, taking into account the special energies supplied by the Moon's sign (and any other astrological considerations your experience allows). For example, a New Moon in an earth sign might be a good time to begin a practical endeavor. A First Quarter Moon in Leo might represent challenges that come in the form of having to deal with people's need for recognition. These energies can be taken into consideration as you frame your questions and draw your cards. Try this approach first before moving on to the more complex methods below

Instead of drawing cards at the lunar phases, you may choose to focus on the Moon's transits through astrological signs. As soon as the Moon moves into a new sign, draw one tarot card to represent the area of your life in which you are most likely to feel the Moon's influence while it is in that sign, or the way in which you are most likely to feel the Moon's influence while it is in that sign, or the way in which it is likely to affect you. You can have a goal in mind for the month, or you may just want to use this approach to become more familiar with how various lunar energies affect you. If you do choose to set a goal for the lunar cycle, you could ask how this type of lunar energy tends to help or hinder your goal. If the lunar energy appears challenging, you may wish to choose a second card to indicate how you can best work with this energy. Either way, keep track of how you feel and what happens, and see if it matches what the Moon and tarot ca rd(s) together would suggest.

How a particular lunar energy feels to you depends in part on the elemental affinities of the signs and the aspects they make to your personal Moon sign.

Same Sign: If the Moon in your birthchart (your natal Moon) is the same as the current Moon sign, the two will tend to reinforce each other (like a conjunction). You will feel at home and comfortable emotionally. The down side is that it may tend to exaggerate any traits or tendencies that are negative as well as positive. So, for example, someone with a natal Moon in Capricorn has a tendency to be a workaholic during the Capricorn Moon; a natal Leo Moon will want even more attention and recognition than usual during the Leo Moon, etc. This is also true if the current Moon sign matches your natal Sun sign or rising sigh: there will be a familiar connection that makes that Moon's energy more comfortable for you.

Same Element: If your natal Moon is in the same element as the current Moon sign, energies should flow fairly freely and comfortably between them. In the zodiac, signs that share an element are in a trine aspect to each other (120 degrees apart), which is considered a positive aspect. There will still be a tendency to reinforce and increase whatever that element is known for. In the case of water Moons, it may be a very emotional, intuitive time; for Fire Moons, the need for action may be reinforced.

Friendly Element, Opposite Sign: The sign opposite another sign in the zodiac is always a friendly element--Fire/Air or Earth/Water combination. These signs have a strong attraction for each other and can work together in quite positive ways. There is usually a lot of energy flow, but there can also be some tension in these combinations. When the Moon is in Scorpio, for example, someone with a natal Taurus Moon will feel this energy and tension--the powerful sexuality of the Scorpio Moon bringing out the sensual, emotional nature of the Taurus (and perhaps tempting her past her usually more cautious boundaries).

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Which Element of the Horoscope Are You"

Which Element of the Horoscope Are You?
By Alma De La Cruz

No doubt that millions of persons begin their journey rushing through the newspapers to see the daily horoscope. We want the horoscope to tell us positive things will happen in the next 24 hours, like how somebody will look at us nicely, how fast we will be rich, or our love compatability. In contrast, we are less interested to come up with a horror-scopes like "today is not your day for love, business deals are not in the stars for you today."

But first of all, which element of the horoscope are you? Hmm? Don't really know what the horoscope is? Well, the horoscope is an astrological chart for a specific person or group that correlates each zodiac sign as they are crossed by the Sun, Moon and planets and the position of planets in astrology. Now, the elements Fire, Earth, Air and Water are based on ancient Greek philosophy; they are the building blocks of life: the solid earth upon which we stand, the running water we use as a resource, the air we breathe and the fire which keeps us warm and aids in the creation of additional resources. The horoscope elements reflect a quality of human nature and correspond also with the Tarot: Fire = Wands; Earth = Coins; Air = Swords; Water = Cups.

Here are the list of the Sun Signs elements, but if you still don't know, keep reading this:
1. Earth Signs

Well-grounded, and realistic, your earth sign makes sure you stay in the real world. When it comes to friendship, no one is more rock steady than you. A builder of long-lasting bonds, you are talented in business and good with money. You find fulfillment in seeing tangible results for your efforts.

Earth signs are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

Taurus (April 21 - May 21): They are faithful and generous friends with a great capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with anyone outside their social rank. The ruling planet for Taurus is Venus; the color of choice is Pink, and its star stone is the Emerald.

Virgo (August 23 - September 23): They need the stimulus of practical problems to be solved rather than the mere routine or working to set specifications that need no thought. The ruling planet for Virgo is Mercury; the colors are Green and Dark Brown, and its star stone is the Sardonyx.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 20): They plan carefully to fulfill their ambitions; they are economical without meanness, and able to achieve great results due to their organizing ability. The ruling planet for Capricorn is Saturn; the color of choice is Brown, and its star stone is the Black Onyx. 2. Fire Signs

These three are the sexiest signs in the Horoscope. Enthusiastic and creative, courageous and spontaneous, confident and fun-loving, you are ardent in love. Other cooler signs may be dazzled by your bright flame.

Fire signs are: Leo, Aries and Sagittarius.

Leo (July 23 - August 22): Their personal magnetism and innate courtesy of mind bring out the best of loyalty from subordinates. The ruling planet for Leo is the Sun; the color of choice is Gold, and its star stone is the red Ruby.

Aries (March 21 - April 20): The Arian is a pioneer both in thought and action, adventurous, ambitious, and impulsive. The ruling planet for Aries is Mars; the color of choice is Red, and its star stone is the precious Diamond.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 21): Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. The ruling planet for Sagittarius is Jupiter; the color of choice is the Rich Purple, and its star stone is the Topaz. 3. Air Signs

These three are the most intellectual signs of the Horoscope. Their skills make them great thinkers and problems solvers.

Air signs are: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Gemini (May 22 - June 21): Since they lack the quality of conscientiousness, they are apt to fight a losing battle in any attempts they make to be moral. The ruling planet for Gemini is Mercury; the color of choice is Green, and its star stone is the Agate.

Libra (September 24 - October 23): Librans are sensitive and have the psychic gift of understanding the emotional needs of their companions and meeting them with their own innate optimism. The ruling planet for Libra is Venus; the color of choice is Blues, and its star stone is the Sapphire.

Aquarius (January 21 - February 19): Many are psychically intuitive to the Age of Aquarius, an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The ruling planet for Aquarius is Uranus; the color of choice is Turquoise, and its star stone is the Turquoise.

4. Water Signs

These three always stay tuned to their feelings, conscious and subconscious, with a level of intuitiveness sometimes bordering on the psychic. Water is the element of the poet, which have them ready to interpret the universe.
Air signs are: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Cancer (June 22 - July 22): The Cancerian character is the least clear-cut of all those associated with the signs of the zodiac: It can range from the timid, dull, shy and withdrawn to the most brilliant, and famous. The ruling planet for Cancer is the Moon; the color of choice is Silver, and its star stone is the Pearl.

Scorpio (October 24 - November 22): They are like a volcano; they can erupt at any moment. Their tenacity and willpower are immense. The ruling planet for Scorpio is Pluto; the color of choice is dark Red to Maroon, and its star stone is Opal.

Pisces (February 20 - March 20): They are more readily concerned with the problems of others than with their own. Their psychic and spiritual qualities can lead them into careers in the church or as mediums and mystics. They are also sexually delicate. The ruling planet for Pisces is Neptune; the color of choice is soft Sea Green, and its star stone is the Moonstone.

Midsummer Fairy Contact--Part 1

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:52 pm (PDT)

Midsummer Fairy Contact--Part 1

Midsummer Eve is, along with Halloween and May Eve, one of the three
great fairy festivals. All sorts of enchantments are in the air on this
day. Spirits and fairies, who are abroad until St. Peter's Day on June 29, suddenly find themselves moving among humankind again, frolicking
around the Midsummer bonfires and playing all sorts of tricks--ranging from small pranks to horrible curses and even death for those that offend them. It is also at this time that male fairies most often steal away human women to become their brides.

Traditionally, therefore, the best time to see fairies is on
Midsummer Eve. Wreaths of eerie mist often surround fairy mounds, fairy rings, stone circles, and other magical places. Should you find a gap in the mist you will be able to pass through into the otherworld. In fact, on this night the fairy mounds open, and numerous fairy denizens may be seen feasting inside. To find the entrance to a fairy hill you should walk nine times around it. Sometimes a procession of lights can be seen moving from one hill to another, and this is the fairies moving house or visiting their neighbors. They use well-trodden paths running in straight lines between the mounds. Any building on one of these fairy ways will meet with disturbances.

It was on Midsummer Eve that St. Levan saw the fairy gardens near
Logan Rock in Cornwall, as he wrote long ago:

When I have been to sea close under the cliffs, of a fine summer's
night, I have heard the sweetest music, and seen hundreds of little lights
moving about amongst what looked like flowers. Ay! And they are flowers, too, for you may smell the sweet scent far out at sea. Indeed, I have heard many of the old men say that they have smelt the sweet perfume and heard the fairy music from the fairy gardens of the castle when ore then a mile from the shore.

Those who have seen the gardens in the Midsummer moonlight say they
are covered with flowers of every color, all more brilliant than any
mortal flower.

Fairy kingdoms exist in another dimension from that of humankind.
Still, there is a square of turf in Wales where, if you trip over it, you
will get a single glimpse of fairies, though the spot can never be found twice.

Fairies can become visible or invisible at will, or be visible to one
person while being invisible to another, though sometimes they can be spied at their revels unawares. You must gaze steadily to see fairies, for if you blink they will disappear. They are most often seen at noon, midnight, or twilight.

If you want to see fairies then you will need the aid of certain
magical herbs such as thyme and primrose. The sight can also be opened by a four-leaf clover, as the milkmaid discovered when she accidentally
picked a four-leaf clover with the grass she used to soften the weight of the pail on her head. Imagine her surprise when she looked at her cow and she saw dozens of fairies milking it. An old recipe for a potion to enable you to see fairies ran thus:

Take a pint of Sallet oil and put it in a glasse, first washing it
with rose water. Then put thereto the budds of hollyhocke, of marygolde, of young hazel and the topps of wild thyme. Take the grasse of a fairy
throne, then all these put into the glasse--dissolve three dayes in the sunne, and keep it for thy use.

You may note that the recipe includes wild thyme. If you can find a
bed of wild thyme, know that the King of the Fairies will dance there with his followers at midnight on Midsummer Eve. Wild thyme is an ingredient of many magical potions, dating from around 1600, which allow those who take them to see fairies. One simple charm is to make a brew of wild thyme tops gathered near the side of a fairy hill and take grass from a fairy throne, and anoint your eyes with it. Take care, though, wild thyme is unlucky if brought indoors.

A simpler spell involves gathering fern seeds at midnight on
Midsummer Eve and rubbing them on your eyelids The fairy folk are also particularly fond of rosemary. The incense attracts them. Pour a libation of rosemary infusion on a fairy-haunted spot to please them.

The Good Folk often inhabit woody dells, concealing themselves among
the flowers of the foxglove. Growing foxgloves in your garden will
attract fairies, so if you want to keep fairies away, you should weed these plants out. Like other fairy flowers, it is unlucky to take them indoors.

In Brittany the rite off sounding the basins, or senin ar cihirinou,
is taken at Midsummer to conjure up the wildfolk. For this, pebbles and coins were placed into a copper basin and shaken.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

The Wisdom of Knowing What and When to Let Go

The Wisdom of Knowing What and When to Let Go

June 22, 2011

The following essay is an excerpt from a wonderful little book, "The Art of Uncertainty: How to Live in the Mystery of Life and Love It," by Dennis Merritt Jones.

Fruit drops from the tree when it is ready. Staying too long, or moving too early, misses the mark. The mark is the appropriateness that causes the fruit to fall when it is ready…the process has its own timing, and it creates changes in your life when those changes need to happen.
~ Gary Zukav

We already know that change in life is a given. There is no way around this fact. The larger concern should be how we manage the process when it does happen. If we are conscious, we can perceive change in a manner that allows us to understand the deeper meaning, value, and purpose in the experience. When change is thrust upon us unexpectedly, we may be greatly challenged to see it as the appropriate doorway through which we must pass to our greater good. However, if we are to move forward in Earth School to "what can be," there comes a time when letting go of "what was" becomes a prerequisite.
With mastering the art of uncertainty comes the necessary wisdom of knowing not only what to let go of, but also when to let it go. No doubt, this is a linear process in which timing plays a vital role. The good news is that contained within our karmic and spiritual DNA lies an inherent wisdom that knows far better than we when it is appropriate to release our grasp and let go of that to which we have been clinging. Our job is to bring ourselves into alignment with this inherent wisdom and trust the process.
I once talked to a man who was a professional trapeze artist and teacher. One day while teaching, he seriously injured his shoulder when the woman he was "catching" failed to let go of her trapeze at the right time. He had to hyperextend his arm to catch her, unexpectedly bearing all of her weight with his one arm. He said that if she had let go just one second sooner everything would have been fine. He went on to say that, being a fairly new student, she was probably afraid to let go. Had she been more focused on the rhythm between the two trapezes, it would have been a perfect release and catch. Rubbing his shoulder-slung arm he smiled and declared, "timing is everything."

All things entail rising and falling timing.
You must be able to discern this.
~ Miyamoto Musashi

How true it is that when it comes to letting go of anything that has been deeply rooted in our lives, timing really is everything. We need only observe the rhythm of Life to know this is true. As we witness nature in "process" we will see that it is not a stagnate thing, but rather a vital life-force always moving; a cyclic movement of things coming and going in a manner that requires letting go and honoring the process of change with grace and ease, making space for that which is to come. When undesired "shift" happens in our lives, it can be difficult to see the appropriateness in that change.
If we were able to take a large enough step back and view the universe at work, we would be able to see the appropriateness in the natural rhythm of change moving through all that is; no one and no thing is exempt. Some things change appropriately slow, so much so that we will never see the change in a visible way in our lifetime, such as mountain ranges rising and crumbing, or the giant Sequoia Redwood trees that grow for thousands of years before they return to the elements from which they came, only to spring up again as a new seedling. Nonetheless, they do change according to their own rhythm. Other changes, such as the coming and going of winter, spring, summer and fall are more obvious and, if we are present enough in the moment to observe the appropriateness of those changes, we will see the perfection of it all.
Again, timing is everything. When we observe Life closely, we can see that every living thing is hardwired with the innate wisdom to know when change happens, not to resist it but to let go and flow with it. The only difference between ourselves and nature is that we need to be reminded that this is so. At the end of the day, the wisdom of knowing when to let go is as important as knowing what to let go of. The good news is, this wisdom lies within each of us and we are never too old to access it on our journey into uncertainty.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - June 15

"Today, what is important for us is to realize that the old sacred ways are correct, and that if we do not follow them we will be lost and without a guide."

-- Thomas Yellowtail, CROW

A long time ago the Creator gave to the people all the knowledge on how we should live and conduct ourselves. The Native people have been influenced by outside "tribes" who don't know about the Sacred Way. Our Elders still know about the old sacred ways. We need to consult and talk to them before it's too late. Every family needs to seriously evaluate whether they are living according to the old knowledge. If we are fault finding, putting one another down, being selfish, being violent to our spouses or children, if we are cheating and being dishonest, then we are not living the old Sacred Way. The old way is about respect, love, forgiveness and sharing.

Great Spirt, today, teach me the old Sacred Way you taught my ancestors.

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the
woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the
beech says to the birch: "Is that a son of a beech or a
son of a birch?"

The birch says he cannot tell.

Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says,
"Wood- pecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a
beech or a son of a birch?"

The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree. He replies:
"It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however,
the best piece of Ash I have ever put my pecker in."

Summertime Magickal Spells for Witchlings

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Summertime Magickal Spells For Witchlings
From Baby Magic by Vidar Andrewson - Mind Fire

Decide what rituals are suitable for your child's age and which ones are too
much for them. I have tried to make them as simplistic as possible.

~ Bubblemagic: Have you ever blown bubbles when you were a child? This
rite is quite simple but will work if the right mindset is in order.
First go out into nature, on a hill, in a field etc on a windy day if
possible. Tell your child to make a wish and blow the bubbles. When they
blow the bubbles their wishes are put inside the bubbles and carried up
to the Gods where the bubbles pop who will see their wishes and grant
them. Explain to them that sometimes the bubbles will pop before getting
there by being attacked by Loki's forces who take the form of bugs,
birds, crosswinds, people and other things. If they say a little prayer
before the bubbles are blown to ensure a safe journey of the bubbles to
the Gods then that will help them do beginning invocations.

~ Kite Magic: Hand make a kite with your child(ren) doing most of the
work. On the kite write messages of what they want, wishes. The message
can be anything they want the gods(desses) to hear. It can have a poem
written on it, or a request or a simple happy birthday to the God during
Yuletide for the beginning of our year. The thought being that the
higher the kite goes it gets closer to the realm of the Gods and they
can read it easier. If the kite string ever breaks and the kite is lost
maybe the Gods have decided to keep the kite? Don't lie to them but let
their imagination decide what happened to the kite. If you lie to them
they'll never believe you again or will have doubts about what you say
in the future.

~ Balloon Magic: Write on a piece of paper your wishes, a song, poem or
whatever you want the Gods(desses) to see. Roll up the paper and insert
it into a balloon. Inflate the balloon with helium and let it fly on the end
of a string <but don't let it fly away because ballons are not
environmentally friendly>. A good variation to this would be to put a
handful of birdseed inside the
balloon so that when it pops the seed will feed the Goddesses children,
the birds.

~ Water Magic: Work together to make a boat made of wood or out of scraps
of wood. Fill the boat with fish food and a leaf that your kid has
written his/her wishes onto. Before your child sends the boat into the
water have them say a prayer of what they wish and that in exchange for
granting their wish they have fed the Goddesses children, the fish.

~ Magic with Fire: You will need to supervise your kids with this one.
Have them write down everything that makes them mad onto a piece of
paper and then have them toss it into a fire. If they want wishes to be
granted by the Gods(desses) have them write, or draw a picture or what
they want on a piece of paper and toss it into the fire. Tell them that
as the paper gets burned up it turns into smoke and is carried up to the
Gods and then magically turns back into a piece of paper and lands on
their alter where they read it.

~ Home For the Faeryfolk: If you have access to a forest this one is cool.
Go out to the forest and assist your child in building a home for the
faeryfolk there. Don't use two-by-fours but branches instead. Make it as
elaborate as you wish. Tell your children that sometimes the faeryfolk
take on the form of animals and will move into the home you've built for
them. To lure them into the home put a variety of fruits and vegetables
inside and a note to them stating that you've built this home for them
and if they wish they can grant you your wishes. When the winter snows
start piling up they will be very happy you've built them a home and
stocked it with food. They may feel grateful enough to grant you your
wishes.

These are only a few of the spells I am working on. feel free to use
these and pass them around. Permission is granted to put these in
publications as long as credit is given to me

Ten Healing Crystals for Men

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:40 pm (PDT)

Ten Healing Crystals for Men
Excerpt from: A Guide to Gem and Crystal Therapy
by Karen Ryan, Crystal Energy Therapist

Crystals and gemstones have often been worn by men as jewelry, or to
decorate formal suits to signify their official or regal status in
society. In ancient times polished crystals were embedded on shields
for protection during battle. Carved crystal amulets offered
protection from poisoned wine. Gem and crystal crafting today is
still almost exclusively men's work. However, the use of precious
metals and gem synthetics has slowly replaced the use of gemstones in
popular men's jewelry. The use of crystals for healing was
popularized in the tale of England's King Arthur with his wizard,
Merlin, who lived in the Crystal Cave.

If you feel awkward about wearing crystals dangling down in front of
your tie in public, and are not inclined to be an "urban shaman",
here are some suggestions:

a.. Wear your healing crystals in a medicine pouch (a pouch on a
string) and tuck it down inside your shirt. Try to select crystals
that are relatively flat, and your pouch will go unnoticed. Place
your crystals inside a small pouch and drop it into your breast
pocket to help heal your Heart.

b.. For the office or workplace, leave your stones out as
decorative objects. If anyone asks, you can say you are a collector,
or you are buying it for your kids as part of their geology class.

c.. Keep your crystals loose inside your front pants pockets, and
hold them for a while several times during the day.

d.. At night, leave the crystals next to your bed or under your
pillow. Remember to cleanse and recharge your crystals at least once
a month.

I asked a number of healers (both men and women) about what they felt
were the healing issues for men. The responses are grouped as:

a.. social isolation
b.. stress-related
c.. emotional health
d.. intuition
e.. communications
f.. health issues
g.. self-esteem and power
h.. communication

I have listed a selection of ten crystals and gemstones from a group
of twenty-five which are useful in healing men and some of the men's
issues listed above.

Amethyst
A "Master Healing Crystal". Also called "the Royal Stone". Amethyst's
most noted healing quality is its ability to purify and transmute all
forms of negativity. Get a large Amethyst crystal cluster for your
home or office to protect yourself from hostile energies around you.
If anxiety causes shortness of breath, put the cluster on or near
your chest and breath slowly for a few minutes to lessen the
symptoms. Consider a large, well-set amethyst gemstone ring to
enhance your personal magnetism and to provide mental clarity.
Amethyst is also helpful for migraines, arthritic pains, and
connecting to one's spirituality for guidance.

Garnet
The "Sex Stone" - Garnet strengthens and restores physical and
emotional energy lost through constantly ensuring the protection and
welfare of others. When you feel a bit lost or abandoned in the
chaos of daily life, Garnet helps to provide the needed grounding and
empowering to become more decisive and committed to a direction.
Garnet is well-known for enhancing and regenerating one's sexuality
(the physical aspects). For best effects, tape a small half-inch
piece at the Hara centre - one and one-half inches below the navel -
and wear it overnight.

Jade
A "Crystal of Tranquility." Also called "the Sport Stone", promoting
agility and swiftness. Many men from the Far East know the benefits
of wearing Jade. Some will tell you that it is for their health, and
how the colour of the Jade gets darker with good health and lighter
with declining health. Jade soothes the emotions, and provides
emotional detachment and restoration after various traumas such as
minor surgery, divorce, funerals, or loss of job. Some say it is for
good luck. Jade is a stone which is easily obtained in most city
centres and can be openly worn as a pendant.

Rose Quartz
"The Love Stone" - Rose Quartz is another Master Healing Crystal that
specializes in transmuting emotional negativity at all levels. It
enhances one's ability to give and receive love, by opening the Heart
chakra and stimulating greater flexibility in communications. It
mellows out a reluctant Heart, and provides peace in relationships
through harmony. Rose Quartz is used for meditation, as it stills
one's aggressive thoughts and provides mental tranquility. It can
heal a broken heart very quickly too.

Smokey Quartz
The "Emotional Balancer Crystal" - Smokey Quartz is a very
specialized crystal for negative emotional energy. This crystal is
excellent for mood swings, aggressive actions, ill temper, and
generally nasty thoughts. It grounds all kinds of negative energy.
This stone is helpful for burnout, fear of failure, reluctance to
take risks, or wanting revenge, as well as for tendencies to over-
eat, smoke or drink due to stress. It helps you accept responsibility
for yourself, and to broaden your capacity for effective
communication by dissolving self-limiting perceptions.

Diamond
"The King of Crystals" - Diamond intensifies and activates one's
internal energies through its purity of vibration. The better the
quality of Diamond, the better one's own personal qualities and
actions. When freely given, Diamond power becomes activated and can
be used for manifesting abundance and increasing personal self-
esteem. It is a token of one's love to another, and both enhances and
radiates the beauty of the wearer. The Diamond is also known for
invincibility, representing the life force (prana).

Hematite
"The Stress Stone" - Hematite is a versatile metallic-like crystal
used for enhancing one's logic, mathematical abilities, rational
thinking and depth of technical knowledge. It grounds creative energy
to make one's thoughts more practical and focused. As a "Stress
Stone", Hematite reflects negativity back to the sender, so you don't
end up with someone else's stress. For backache or leg cramps, use
surgical tape to fix a few pieces onto painful areas. The crystal's
energy is like a magnet and effectively draws out pain related to
muscular or joint alignment problems. Hematite is also used to reduce
insomnia.

Lapis Lazuli
"The Stone of The Pharaohs" - Lapis Lazuli is well-known as a
favorite stone used in the courts of the ancient Egyptian Kings.
Lapis means "stone" and Lazuli means "blue". This deep blue stone is
used for stimulating mental strength and intellectual precision.
Lapis is a consciousness elevator, raising one's awareness to new
heights and to greater expansion. It brings feelings of success and
connectedness and protection. For intuitive people, Lapis intensifies
psychic power.

Malachite
"A Man's Stone" - The deep forest green of Malachite is symbolic of
the deep healing and cleansing this stone provides. It can aid in
breaking down old patterns, whether emotional (stuck patterns of
behavior) or physical (tumors, swollen joints, muscular). Malachite
promotes business relationships and the increase of wealth by
removing obstacles to one's growth. The most important aspect of this
crystal's healing ability, however, is for the preventive health of
the physical heart and liver. If you are attracted to this crystal,
chances are you have a family history of heart-related problems and
probably need a heart check-up.

Moonstone (Adularia)
"The Feminine Balancing Crystal". To soften and balance dominant male
attributes with some feminine qualities, Moonstone provides for a
depth of perception and feelings, discernment, creativity and self-
expression. Other properties of Moonstone - increases awareness and
focus, releases one's intuition, has rejuvenating qualities for the
skin and hair (baldness?), reduces water retention, and provides
protection for travelers. Moonstones increase their powers before and
during the full moon, so leave them out at night to soak up the
moon's rays.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Ten Healing Crystals for Children

Ten Healing Crystals for Children
Excerpt from: A Guide to Gem and Crystal Therapy
by Karen Ryan, Crystal Energy Therapist

Crystals are truly gifts from the Earth. Children seem to have a
natural attraction to pick them up and fully explore any kind of
stone or crystal. They will often use all their senses, seeing what
the crystal looks like, feeling the texture with their fingertips, or
even rubbing the crystal against other parts of their body. They are
curious to know what it sounds like when the crystal drops on the
ground or plops into water, what it smells like and tastes like.
Some children use their psychic senses, telling what the crystal is
saying to them; or they will mysteriously use the crystal for healing
without any instructions. Children can respond very quickly to the
healing energy of crystals. However, please consult the best
available qualified medical help on the care of your children and use
your common sense in regard to your children's health and wellness.

Take your children to a rock shop, gem and mineral show, museums as
well as to areas of high mineral content (check a geological survey
map) such as quarries, caves and mines. Let your children pick
crystals for themselves. Often they will select a crystal that is
helpful to their healing process. One four-year-old girl I met
selected an Apache Tear, used for the grieving process. The little
girl, clutching it in her hand, remarked, "Oh, I want to wear this
all the time!" I asked the mother if there had been a death in the
family recently. Astonished, she replied, "I just lost my brother
four weeks ago, but we didn't tell her." The girl was obviously
sensitive to the family's sorrow and needed some protection from the
feelings of others around her.

I have listed some crystals to help in your child's healing. Let your
child carry the crystal in his or her pocket, or place 1 or 2 in a
small medicine bag around the neck. Let your child even sleep with
his or her special crystal. Crystals often get lost or misplaced by
children, so you might want to have a few extras on hand.

Amethyst
A "Master Healing Crystal." Amethyst's most noted healing quality is
its ability to purify and transmute all forms of negativity. For
children "in transition", whether it be a growth spurt, a major
disappointment such as failing a grade, or even hearing the
devastating news of divorce or death, Amethyst accepts all negative
emotions and provides comfort through spiritual acceptance. For
children with various disabilities or with either physical or
emotional pain, an Amethyst cluster in the room will help clear
unwanted discharged energies, bringing the room back into a balanced
state. For local pain, hold an Amethyst directly on or over the area
for up to 20 minutes.

Apache Tear
The "Grief Stone." Apache Tear is actually Obsidian and is very dark
but transparent. When you hold a small piece up to the light you can
see through it. However, if you have been using the Apache Tear to
absorb negative emotions, you will see it cloud up and become opaque.
Sometimes it will clear up after the grieving is over.

Aventurine
The "Leadership Stone." Aventurine strengthens and restores the Heart
energy, providing a balance of male and female energies. This crystal
is green and very loving, embracing, and protective of the Heart.
Many children who are shy, timid, or suppressing their leadership
qualities need a crystal like Aventurine. This stone helps the
individual to become active and to initiate action on their own
accord. Asthmatic children seem attracted to this stone as it opens
up the lungs and they experience a sense of relief.

Carnelian
A "Self-Esteem Crystal." Carnelian is used to help restore feelings
of inadequacy and low self-esteem. The deep orange colors relate
well to strengthening and blending the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd chakras,
promoting self-security and self-love. The pinker shades relate to
enhancing love between child and parent, through self-acceptance.
This crystal is also used for dermatological ailments such as acne,
by holding the stone over the skin and moving it in circles for
several minutes, several times a day.

Clear Quartz
The "Healing Crystal." Clear Quartz is a general all-purpose healing
crystal. Each Quartz crystal has its own energy signature and healing
mission. When a child makes contact with the right crystal, the
energy is discharged either very slowly, or quite suddenly so it
feels like a very mild electric shock. This natural energy can be
just enough to transform a disharmonious thought pattern, burn off
some negative emotional state, or even place the spiritual seeds of
one's future into consciousness. Using a cluster of Clear Quartz
crystals for children is particularly nice, as so many different
types of crystals (record-keepers, transmitters, channelers, etc.)
are included. There's a crystal for any occasion! Crystal clusters
are also helpful to organize scattered thoughts and to deflect
negative energies.

Rose Quartz
"The Love Stone." Rose Quartz is another terrific general healing
crystal for children especially for those who have a lot of hurt
feelings or aggressive tendencies. Rose Quartz can soothe a broken
heart shattered by seeing raw Reality - the ways things are, rather
than the way one wants them to be. For hyperactive children Rose
Quartz soothes erratic emotional states, anxiety, fear, compulsions,
and many other mental disorders. Some neurological benefits have also
been noticed with muscle spasms relaxing when Rose Quartz is guided
over the nerve centers. For young hearts, Rose Quartz helps to keep
the Heart chakra open, vital and protected, filtering in good
energies and keeping out the bad.

Lapis Lazuli
A "Psychic Balance Stone." Lapis Lazuli is an incredible stabilizer
for children who show psychic gifts early in life. The deep blue
color stimulates expansion of consciousness in a supportive way,
promoting purification and clarity of spiritual insight. Lapis Lazuli
provides self-acceptance of one's given gifts and encourages openness
of one's spiritual awareness. This stone is highly prized for its
protective powers and stimulation of all psychic senses.

Jade
A "Soother of Emotions Stone." Jade is easily obtained and can be
openly worn by children as regular "jewelry." Emotionally sensitive
children often need a supportive system to ensure that their feelings
do not overwhelm them. Jade enhances confidence, self-assurance, and
self-reliance. Jade is very inspirational in helping one achieve
one's desires in life. This stone is often available from a Chinese
goods merchant and is often sold in the shape of thin coins.

Tiger Eye
A "Grounding Stone." Tiger Eye has thin rutile inclusions, and when
rocked back and forth the light reflects in a certain way as if the
tiger's eye were winking at you! Let your children explore this
fascinating stone and help them find the flashing Tiger's Eye. This
stone is excellent for grounding psychic energy and providing
security for opening up the psychic centers. Sometimes children get
carried away and get lost in their dream world. Tiger Eye helps to
pull them back into their bodies (after astral travel). This stone is
very useful to put action to one's thoughts. Tiger's Eye is about
being practical. Perhaps every parent needs one for their child
before trips to the shopping mall.

Pyrite
A "Protection Stone." Iron Pyrite comes in many different shapes,
from sun discs to cubes. Children are attracted to its shiny brassy
surfaces. Pyrite is like a small mirror; negative energy is reflected
away. The terror of being unprotected is reduced. There is also a
feeling of physical empowerment, that life in the physical form is
perfect, and love is abundant.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Ten Healing Crystals for Women

Ten Healing Crystals for Women
Excerpt from: A Guide to Gem and Crystal Therapy
by Karen Ryan, Crystal Energy Therapist

Crystals can be used to assist women of all ages and in all stages of
healing. The awakening of the Self to a spiritual journey is not an
easy task. It can demand much time and resources to achieve self-
development and growth. Some choose not to undertake the risks and
perils of peeling off our defenses to become fully human and alive,
and to experience the full wealth of life.

"Isis Unveiled" is a term which refers to the Egyptian goddess whose
face and form was covered with a red cloth, symbolic of the ignorance
and emotionalism that stood forever between a person and Truth. To
the wise, Isis lifts her veil, dispelling and revealing the mysteries
of the Universe. The inner journey becomes sacred to those who can
withstand the intensity of full consciousness.

Crystals have a healing role to play in this fantastic journey. Like
the mysteries of a woman's consciousness, crystals help to contain
the inner processes of "Isis Unveiled", and help to prepare the
unveiling of female consciousness through healing all levels of her
being. Crystals provide protection and give sanctuary for the deep
healing a woman does within herself. I have listed a selection of ten
crystals and gemstones from a group of forty-four that are useful in
healing women and women's issues.

Amber
A "Gentle Stone." Amber is very soothing and calming to the nerves.
It can uplift a negative disposition and encourage you to take life
less seriously. It promotes fidelity in relationships. As a self-
healing stone, amber guides the emotions into a clearer mental
outlook and to take greater responsibility for one's choices in life.
It is also excellent for soothing emotions during postoperative
care. See also Jade.

Amethyst
A "Master Healing Crystal." Amethyst purifies and transmutes
negativity. Amethyst provides protection and balance during
transition periods. It reduces the feeling of being victimized,
giving you a spiritual perspective on life's circumstances. The
lavender-pink colour amethyst relates to the Heart chakra, to open
and lighten up a betrayed heart and to heal the sense of loss of life
and innocence. The blue-red colour amethyst promotes a deep spiritual
connection between one's self and one's life challenges, supporting
the challenge one has taken on, giving patience and calmness despite
overwhelming odds. The Chevron Amethyst (banded white and purple)
helps peel off old karmic patterns to promote self-love and the
ability to get along with others especially with one's Soul Mate or
family members.

Apache Tears (transparent Obsidian)
The "Grief Stone." Apache Tears allow for tears to be shed,
stimulating emotional spontaneity and the release of barriers that
prevent you from experiencing deep sorrow. This stone is excellent
for transmuting one's own negativity under stressful situations. The
Apache Tear is a dark black stone of obsidian and when held up to the
light appears transparent. However, it has been noted that the grief
one feels goes into the stone and can turn it opaque.

Coral - Red Coral
A "Woman's Stone." Red Coral quiets the emotions and dispels feelings
of despair and despondency. It encourages a passionate energy, and
stimulates and strengthens female reproductive organs through tissue
regeneration. This stone relates well to the Spleen meridian for
blood circulation, and to purification of the kidneys and bladder.
Red Coral is considered to be "The Blood of Mother Earth" by Native
Americans and is considered particularly precious by Tibetan women
for menstruation and fertility.

Garnet
The "Sex Stone." Garnet strengthens the life force and provides for
the spontaneous availability of energy when needed. This gemstone is
especially good for the restoration of victimized and abused women,
helping them reclaim lost power. It promotes regeneration of
emotional energy and the acceptance of one's thoughts and emotions.
Garnet stabilizes energy devoted to accomplishing one's purpose. It
also empowers and strengthens the Root and Navel chakras. Garnet
heightens sexuality (the physical aspects) and increases fertility.

Jade
A "Crystal of Tranquility." Jade soothes the emotions and helps keep
the peace for community relations. It provides a sense of self-worth,
self-sufficiency and capability in dealing with any situation. Jade
promotes harmony, balance, and tranquility through emotional
detachment. Jade is excellent for recovery after an unpleasant
experience (minor surgery, divorce, funerals, loss of job). See also
Amber.

Jasper
A "Nurturing Stone." Jasper makes it easier to use one's own power
and to know that it cannot be taken away. It calms aggressive energy,
and facilitates safety and protection during recovery periods (e.g.,
from stress, operations, and other life traumas). Red Jasper provides
lively fresh energy and reduces feelings of being victimized. Yellow
Jasper balances hormones and protects during travel. Green Jasper
restores energy and focus during recovery from burnout.

Rose Quartz
"The Love Stone." Rose Quartz is a Master Healer and transmutes
emotional negativity at all levels. It enhances meditation and
healing by harmonizing and balancing energy fluctuations. Rose Quartz
embodies the expression "Love Conquers All." It is excellent for
calming the Heart and Solar Plexus chakras after situations involving
emotional upheaval, chaos, trauma, or crisis. Rose Quartz allows love
to come to the wearers who have trouble finding love within
themselves to give to either themselves or to others. This is also a
great friendship stone to give to someone you care for.

Smokey Quartz
The "Emotional Balancer Crystal." Smokey Quartz clears and transmutes
negative emotions. This crystal is an excellent stabilizer for mood
swings and grounds all kinds of negative energy. Excellent for PMS
sufferers and other cranky persons. It is an excellent crystal to use
in times of stress, and to rebuild emotional burnout by offering
protection during the healing period. Smokey Quartz reduces the fear
of failure, unblocks self-limitations, and lets you risk trying some
new experiences.

Sodalite
"A Stone of Peace." Sodalite helps alleviate insomnia caused by
overactive mental chatter. It helps to dispel irrelevant thoughts,
provides mental focus, and maintains logical reasoning with regard to
emotional upsets. Sodalite promotes issues of trust, enhances
companionship and the commonality of goals with others. It is
excellent for busy women who find no time for peace, who need to
relax and to restore one's mental energies. [Sodalite is actually
a "rock" composed of several types of micro-crystals.]

A Note on How to Use Crystals for Healing
By wearing the crystals throughout the day for 21 days - preferably
as a full necklace, as a pendant, or in a small pouch at the Heart
Chakra -the vibrations of the crystals will continue to affect areas
of the imbalance, restoring a positive state where the imbalance has
occurred. The effects of crystal healing at the emotional and
psychological levels are subtle, yet are often noticed more by others
than yourself!

Some Hints On Crystal Healing
Your commitment to the crystal is part of the healing process. Let
the crystal do the work for you.

It is best not to wear more than two crystals at any one time if you
are new to crystal healing, as many find the effects too distracting.
The length of time to obtain the effects desired will depend on the
quality of the crystal (size, colour, energy charge), location of
wear, duration, and the crystal's appropriateness to your healing
issue. Some crystals are better suited to the overall underlying
problem than to just treat superficial symptoms. Select your crystal
with an honest outlook on the problem.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Vibrations Matter
Frequency Can Change Your Life!
by Red

Have you ever really thought about some of the terminology we use to describe our moods? If you say that your spirits are "low," people immediately conclude that you are troubled or depressed. However, an extreme victory or positive experience may cause such a "rush" that you are flying "high" for days.

Words such as high, low, rush, up, and down can be used to portray not only how we are feeling, but also describe the vibes in which we are living and emitting.

Everything is energy
Everything that exists, whether or not you can see or touch it, is made up of energy. From the floor that is beneath your feet to the thoughts that run through your mind, it all boils down to energy, and energy is never still.

For all intents and purposes, a floor is solid matter. You can see it, touch it and it supports your weight. Seems like it is just sitting there, serving its flooring purpose, but that doesn't mean that it is still. The energy that makes up the floor is hard at work, moving and vibrating at just the right speed and frequency to maintain its solid structure and physical appearance.

Thoughts are no less real than the floor beneath your feet, but they vibrate at a different speed and frequency. You may not be able to touch them, but that doesn't make them any less substantial. Your body also has its own vibrations. After all, there is a whole lot going on underneath the skin that most of us don't really think about!

Can you feel it?
We all have good days and bad, but have you ever really paid attention to how life tends to flow in relation to your mood? How about when you meet someone for the first time and immediately like or dislike them, without really knowing why? Everyone and everything is throwing off vibrations. Sometimes, we are consciously aware of the resonance and frequency, and the intermingling vibrations that either harmonize or repel. Because like attracts like, the vibes that we emit are similar to a mating call, drawing in people, events and things that exist on the same or similar vibrational plane as our own.

Most times, looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. When we are feeling good about our selves and our lives, we tend to have a bit more confidence and it shows. We are more charismatic, appearing brighter and more beautiful - to ourselves and others. Those "happy to be alive" days are the best. We may dismiss them as luck or a fluke, but the reality is we have kicked our vibrations up a notch, and we are emitting and feeling an energetic boost.

Harmonize energy
When our vibrations are low, we are more tired, pessimistic and can even be mean or depressed. Those vibrations are the energy we project and the energy we attract. This vibe is more likely to cause a bad hair day, get us caught in traffic and possibly top it all off by having our morning coffee spill on us before the big meeting or presentation. We tend to look at the incidents as the cause or source for our state of vibration, but many times it is our vibrations that attract the incidents.

Not all of us are meant to be one of those happy-shiny people who are bouncing off the walls with boundless energy, but each of us does have a positive vibrational groove. We've all experienced that level of harmony before, and with a little effort we can find it, maintain it and even increase it. Like a finely tuned automobile, when our mental and physical energies are in harmony, we hum with personal power.

Change your vibe
Life is probably never going to be easy, but there's no law that states we have to continually add to the chaos and confusion. With a little bit of effort, each and every one of us can be a little better and a little brighter, which will help clear away some of our obstacles or attract what we need to surmount them.

If life isn't going the way you want it to, change it. Put down that never-ending list of everything you have to do, and all the things you don't have for five minutes and simply focus on yourself. Understand that in your life, you are the point of origin - the place where everything begins. Therefore, the vibrations you project are like a magnet, drawing in things of the same frequency. When you truly understand that principle, you will feel a shift in consciousness and your vibrations will begin to change in accordance with that shift.

Words like "can't," "want" and "never" may begin to fade if your quest is one geared toward happiness and improvement. These low frequency words are powerful, particularly in thought, especially if you believe them. They are heavy and limiting, and what they hold down and hold back is your vibrations - the essence of you. Try replacing them with will, can and deserve, and you have just created opportunity rather than obstacle. Believe those words and your vibrations will increase, lighten… and so will you.

A higher frequency
Changing your vibes can be fairly easy, but maintaining that shift may take a little practice. Fortunately, there is opportunity in every thought and every action. Focus on the good things in your life, even when things are tough. Visualize yourself as you want to be. Meditate. Exercise. Recite positive affirmations of your own creation or ones that resonate well with you. Absorb the energy of music that lifts you, pumps you up, or brings you peace. Sing. Dance. These are only a few simple things you can do to raise your frequency, but with consistent and conscious effort, you will be able to measure your improvement and success.

Our perceptions not only influence, but also create our realities. Like a ripple caused by throwing a pebble into water, the vibes we send expand and touch others just as their vibes are flowing and seeking us. Some moments in life seem so perfect. Even though those moments pass, their vibrations can remain. Surround yourself with the people and things that you love and make you feel good and consciously project the same.

The Magical Bully

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:47 pm (PDT)

The Magical Bully

When you think back to grade school, are your clearest memories of the
bullies in your class and their endless and insidious torments? This is
probably true of middle school and high school as well. Some things never change,
even into adulthood bullies seldom change their ways. Well, I'm here to tell
you, the longer we allow the bullying to continue without confronting the
behavior, the more it will always continue.

Bullies in Magical Communities

Those of us who belong to a coven or who are active in magical communities
no doubt have come in contact with what I call the magical bully. These are
people who, like their forebears on the playground, endlessly brag (about all
of their magical affiliations) and (as if anyone really cares) seek to "one
up" anyone else who will listen to them. They will feign interest in asking
you about your training and how you came to the Craft, and the moment you open
yourself up they will snicker. Despite the fact that you long ago left the
playground behind, the magical bully almost always leaves you feeling down
and out of place.

In general, the magical bully always has to be heard. They want the first
word and the last, even if they contradict themselves or are simply wrong.
Whether they actually know more than everyone else doesn't matter, because they
are certain they do. Typically, magical bullies see themselves far
differently than others actually do--usually as a great benefactor rather than
a manipulator. If they are reading this, they will not see that this applies to
them.

The magical bully criticizes everyone and everything. Their view of life is
essentially negative, and eventually no one wants to be around them except
those individuals who are just like them. The magical bully is an emotional
batterer. You can never do anything right; they are here to correct you and
make you better as a result.

Ultimately, their goal is to control those closest to them--the magical
community they claim to embrace. If you disagree with them, the magical bully
will fly into a tirade, perhaps even a rage, until you just shut up and they
"win."

General Bully Traits

To help you recognize a magical bully, here are some general traits they
typically exhibit:

The magical bully is:

A master liar, especially when confronted. They often will blame others for
any misunderstandings. The magical bully excels at deception and should
never be given the benefit of the doubt.

A charmer. But this is the false charm of a "Jekyll and Hyde" quality.
They do not show their vicious side publicly whenever possible, but tell their
true feelings to a confidant. They employ harm to gain things they want. It
is generally excessive in nature. They are sycophants.

Glib, verbose, and says a lot about nothing. In the end, their point is
often lost in their wordiness, and you leave feeling they've stuffed your head
with a lot of nothing. The bully usually only possesses superficial knowledge,
and relies more on hearsay than on actual study.

Illogical and flighty, even contradictory, in their thinking, often
contradicting themselves. Confront them with the contradictions and watch them
squirm.

Exceptionally gifted at knowing what someone wants to hear and at presenting
convincing arguments.

Irresponsible and not to be relied on. The magical bully is not capable of
sustaining intimacy in relationships.

Emotionally immature. They may speak like an adult, but they react like a
five-year-old. Tantrums are not uncommon.

Deeply prejudiced, exhibiting a hatred for the opposite sex, of different
religions or races. Typically, they try to hide this from the community,
though it is often very obvious to everyone.

Arrogant and opinionated, yet projects a sense of being untouchable. Rules
do not apply to them, though they love imposing rules on others.

Compulsive and a control freak. They want to control what you say and do.
If you act independently, they will attempt to restrict you and even damage
your standing in the community.

Ruthless. They will do anything they can to undermine or destroy the
standing of the person who sees through their bravado. They usually do this by
unconsciously projecting their own character flaws on to this person.

Adept at creating conflict between individuals whom they see as their
enemies.

False in making claims about education, knowledge, expertise, and
experience. They live in a false reality and fabricate their existence to be
what they really wish it could be. The magical bully is a phony, but excels at
presenting a believable self to the community. They also appear to truly
believe in this fabrication.

Selfish and self-aggrandizing. The magical bully has only self-preservation
in mind at all times. They are not a team player.

Callous and insensitive to the needs of others. They will gossip, backstab,
and start rumors to discredit others. If confronted, they will deny they
said anything.

A lousy and ungenerous giver. They will never volunteer to do anything for
the sake of the community. They'll always be around to "advise," but never
to do any sort of work.

Be Magical In Dealing With A Bully

Does this sound like anyone you know? Bullies cause a great deal of stress
wherever they live, work, worship, and play. This stress becomes unhealthy
for people who have to deal with them on a daily basis. So, the question is:
How should we deal with such a person? Is there anything we can do to
protect ourselves?

First and foremost, once you make a determination based on the character
points above, you should not hesitate: vote them out of your coven or
community. Do yourself a favor and keep them from threatening you and your spiritual
beliefs ever again. And do not let them charm their way back in to your
circle or community. They are not going to change. This behavior is a pattern
that no doubt goes back to their childhood.

As a special warning to coven and community leaders: The magical bully will
want to be your special friend. They want to have your authority and your
respect, but they don't want to work to get it. They will present one face to
you and another to your coven members or community. The end result is that
your coven members and community will resent you for not seeing through this
bully. And once you lose your standing in the coven or community as a result
of constantly praising, rewarding, or defending your bully while your coven
and community members are being maligned by them, the magical bully will move
on to another group or community and will have nothing good to say about you.

After reading this, you may be thinking, well, this bully behavior applies
to people in my workplace, in my family, and in my circle of friends who have
nothing to do with the magical community. All I can say is: Bingo!

Bullies are bullies. You must recognize them where you find them and get
them out of your life. They are everywhere.

The European community is miles ahead of the United States in recognizing
the destruction that bullies cause. They have legislation for dealing with
such people in the workplace and community. I can only hope the United States
will follow their example some time in the near future.

The Comfort of Ritual

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:49 pm (PDT)

The Comfort of Ritual

Comfort. In the past few years, our definition of the word has changed. "Comfort" used to be most often found on the physical plane--300-thread-count sheets, designer clothes, things, things, things. In the aftermath of 9/11, the tsunami, the London bombings, and Hurricane Katrina, comfort relies far more on emotional solace than physical.

We want and heed to know that we matter. Not just to our immediate circle, but in the larger context of the world. Ritual helps us find that place, that comfort, in ways that can last longer than the actual ritual itself. And in ways that allow us to take the comfort we achieve in ritual and enhance the world around us, thereby increasing the comfort of those around us.

The act of performing a ritual means that one takes specific and familiar steps in a considered sequence to achieve a desired result. Rituals gain meaning through repetition. Rituals that evoke specific emotions or feelings start triggering these feelings as the ritual starts, giving us a sense of security and place in the world. While one does not want the movements and words to ever become simple "muscle memory," the repetition of rites allows them to gain power over a period of time. No matter how many times the ritual is performed, rendering it mindfully is of vital importance to its success. The comfort found in the repetition adds to the mindfulness. The feeling of pleasure, serenity, and familiarity in the rite feeds its power.

Does that mean that you must craft a set of rituals and never deviate? Of course not. Because our lives and our spirits are in constant evolution, our rituals must grow and change along with them. Although that sounds like a contradiction of the previous paragraphs, it's not.

Traditions are set up to support rituals. Rituals fit in with specific paths. Even an eclectic practitioner has specific ways to cast a circle, call in the elements, and perform ritual. Experimenting with different types of ritual will allow you to find what works best for you. In your private, personal ritual work, you don't need to be defined by anyone else's ordinances. Even if you work with a group, you can create specific and personal rituals for your private work that answer to nothing but your own spirit.

In order to find what works for you, you need to read everything you possibly can, and experiment. Finding rituals that give you comfort takes time. There will be some ceremonies you try that won't feel right. They won't give you that inner sense of knowing that means you've found the ritual best matched to your spirit. The knowing starts in your gut, at the solar plexus chakra, and it radiates both up and down, filling you. It's an experience you can read about a hundred times, but it won't make any sense until you experience it.

Once you experience it, you'll want to write out the details of the ritual (hopefully, you've taken notes during all your explorations), so you can create it. Be aware that you will never recreate exactly that first experience. Because rituals are live, each one is unique, even if all the same steps are taken. You will find the rhythm of the right ritual, but nothing ever matches, exactly, the first time a particular ritual touches your soul. But within the context of the familiar, you will continue to make new discoveries. That's yet another comfort of ritual--a safe place in which to explore your spiritual goals.

Creating a book of rituals for esbats, sabbats, and specific needs will help in your growth. It gives you a touchstone, a place of sanctuary, and a foundation for your future work. As the world grows and changes, and as you grow and change, you will create more rituals to meet specific needs.

Creating rituals specific to a tragedy--to encompass humanity, healing, and, most importantly, actions for positive change so this type of aftermath never happens again in the wake of any other disaster--is vital to our survival as a species. The rituals created will continue to grow and evolve and still be relevant by the time the article is published, and beyond. Finding comfort in ritual gives us the strength and courage to continue with our lives. Living in a state of fear and anger after a tragedy will eat you alive. You need to seek respite, to recharge, to step back and mull over creative and positive solutions, to do your part in making sure the tragedy is not repeated. By creating and performing specific rituals and garnering the comfort derived from them, you regain your sense of purpose and your strength. Then and only then can you take the action needed to create positive change.

Ritual gives you the time and place to connect specifically with the spirits that work most closely with you. It's not about kowtowing to them or begging them. It's about interaction, an exchange of energy. You are perfectly within your rights to question the fates, to question the angels, to ask for explanations. Ritual gives you a place of sanctuary to explore the myriad feelings that tangle you up and can trip you up--whether it's a tragedy on a global scale, or a tragedy on a personal one. And the personal pains are just as real and just as relevant as the global ones. Rituals don't need to be elaborate. The way you light a candle, the way you prepare a specific type of tea that you drink before meditation, the way you prepare yourself in the morning to meet the day--all of these actions can be ritualized, and utilized in a way to give you comfort. Comfort, in the spiritual sense, creates strength, and only with humane strength can we save and improve our planet. It is also a place to express gratitude, and give thanks for what does work, and to promote joy and love. The energy flows both ways. It's not about payment to spirit, it's about partnership with spirit.

The firmer your foundation, the more comfort you give; and receive in the ritual process, the more strength you gain, and the more positive impact you can have on the world.
