DailyOM: Reversed Perceptions

DailyOM - Being Projected Upon
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

June 22, 2011
Reversed Perceptions
Being Projected Upon
When we take ownership of our thoughts we are less likely to project our issues or disowned qualities onto others.

We all have issues, as well as undesirable qualities or traits that we don’t like about ourselves. Most of us realize that we are not perfect and that it is natural to have unpleasant thoughts, motivations, desires, or feelings. However, when a person does not acknowledge these, they may ascribe those characteristics to someone else, deeming other people instead as angry, jealous, or insecure. In psychological terms, such blaming and fault finding is called projection.

When we are the target of projections, it can be confusing and frustrating, not to mention maddening, particularly when we know that we are not the cause of another person’s distress. Even people who are well aware of their issues may find that sensitive subjects can bring up unexpected projections. They may feel insecure about a lack of funds and thus view a friend as extravagant. Or, if they really want to get in shape, they may preach the benefits of exercise to anyone and everyone.

While we can try to avoid people we know who engage in projecting their “stuff” onto others, we can’t always steer clear of such encounters. We can, however, deflect some projections through mindfulness and meditation. A useful visualization tool is to imagine wrapping ourselves in a protective light everyday. At other times, we may have to put up a protective shield when we feel a projection coming our way, reminding ourselves that someone else’s issues are not ours. Although it’s difficult not to react when we are the recipient of a projection, it is a good idea to try to remain calm and let the other person know if they are being unreasonable and disrespectful. We all know that it’s not fun to be dumped on. Likewise, we should be mindful that we don’t take our own frustrations out on others. When we take ownership of our thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings, we are less likely to project our issues or disowned qualities onto
others.

THREE GREAT REASONS to go to Laurelin's Lughnasadh festival this yea

Posted by: "Kirk White" laurelin@sover.net   laurelinkirk

Wed Jun 22, 2011 7:08 pm (PDT)

Our speakers! Here is just one of our many great speakers:

Travis Shores

Travis has studied and performed drumming extensively with many teachers in various genres including: Hatian Vodou Drummers Fritz "Juju" Joseph and Wilmeyer Marcelin (in addition to various VT guest artists), Cuban Santeria drummer Reynaldo Gonzalez, Middle Eastern Virtuoso Issam Houshan (Sting / Bellydance Superstars), Ghanaian Dagbamba Drummers Sulemana Abu and Baba Alhassan, Ghanaian Ashanti Drummer "Little Noah", and many noted jazz recording artists known worldwide.

Intrigued by the journey of West African Dahomean drumming culture and spirituality to that of the Caribbean, Travis dove into the deeper relationships between the drum and the practitioner, within the Vodou (Juju,) religion. Travis strives to make clear efforts to disolve the predjudice and misconceptions of Vodou drumming within the African Diaspora and enlighten students to the beauty, complexity and powerful nature of these ancient ritual rhythms. Travis is an adopted member of Sagneregu Village in Northern Ghana and is a standing member of the Agbekor Drum and Dance Society in Boston MA. He currently plays and teaches Haitian, Cuban, Middle Eastern, Ghanaian, and drum set to students, dancers and audiences throughout the Northeast USA.

Our rituals! Here is one of the perennial favorites of our attendees:

Greek Shrine Procession

Led by our community priestess of Aphrodite and her cohorts, Daitales (The Banqueters), there will be a torch lit procession around to the various Greek and community shrines with offerings to the Gods, heroes, nymphs and spirits. Join us!

Camping and Overnight Accommodations

Again this year, we are going to let people camp wherever they want - in the field, forest or in-between. The pottapotties, showers, potable water, meals and concerts will all still be down near the house so if you camp in the woods, plan to get your hiking in. There will be designated fire pits. Do not make new ones. This time of year is typically dry but rainstorms have been known to happen, so we strongly recommend you bring a tarp or ground cloth to put under your tent.

Parking space is limited, so no campers or RV's, please.
There are a limited number of B&B's and inns in Bethel and nearby towns. Please contact Laurelin staff if you would like further information.

Toilets, Showers, and Water
Port-a-potties will be available on-site. There is an outdoor shower with warm water. (You may want to bring solar showers if you like warm/ hot showers). There is an outdoor sink for washing dishes and drinking water. All of these are down near the main house.

Meal Plan
We will again be offering our delicious meal plan - with both carnivore and vegetarian options - catered by the amazing Chef Dave. It includes: breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and brunch on Sunday (10 meals).

The plan can be bought either for the whole festival, Friday through Sunday, or just Saturday and Sunday. If you are signing up for the meal plan, we need your registration NO LATER than July 15th.

Please also let us know right away if you have any special dietary needs/ allergies.

Village Builders
This year we will be having a special day for those people who would like to come together as a smaller group to share, connect and participate in the creation of our magickal village. In ritual and with magickal intent, we will break into teams each dedicated to creating and maintaining one aspect of our magickal community - some hard physical labor, and others less so. Arrival is by Noon on Tuesday, August 3rd. There is no cost for coming to Village Builders however the meal plan will be offered (dinner on Tuesday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Wednesday). Cost for the Builders meal plan is an additional $28.00.

Workshops, Rituals, and Activities
If you have an idea for a workshop, ritual, discussion, performance, or children's activity - we'd LOVE to hear about it! Don't be shy - we're open to any and all ideas. Help us make Lughnasadh an exciting, rich and fun-filled experience that will keep everyone coming back year after year (and bringing more friends too!). Send your proposals via email to: laurelin@sover.net before July 1st. (Sooner is better!) You will be notified by July 8th whether or not it is accepted.

Vendor Info
We'd love to have lots of vendors for Lughnasadh 2011! Crafts, clothing, food, mead, New Age, whatever! We've got plenty of space and there is no fee for merchanting; however, we do ask a 10% commission on your sales at the end of the event. One person (the merchant) can have their registration fee waived. Any guests/ helpers would have to pay full registration. You still have to provide your own food, travel, etc. Please complete the Vendor Registration form and return it with your reservation along with photos of your booth and/or website information. These can be very useful for promoting you before you even get here. Please bring your own setup/display, weather protection, and safe storage facilities.

Pets/ Dogs
Dogs are welcome this year at the festival. However, you MUST provide proof of rabies vaccination or your dog will not be permitted. Further, all dogs must be kept on-leash at all times in the fields or around the house. They are free to run loose in the wooded areas. You are expected to pick up and dispose of any waste left in areas where people will be walking, camping, etc.

Your pet must be calm, non-disruptive, and under your control (on leash or off) at all times. If it fights with other animals, is disruptive by barking or other behaviors, is threatening or causes damage to the site or its other occupants, or not under your control at all times you will be required to take the pet off-site with no refund.

For more information or to get a registration packet: contact Kirk at laurelin@sover.net or 802-234-9670

Reader bios:

Annette

Annette is a renowned international psychic and a
Wiccan high priestess. She has been psychic all her life, but has only been
"reading" professionally since May 1964. This was after a near death experience
on the operating table. During those few secondsher heart stopped and her soul
left her body. Since this near death experience she has been able to
successfully communicate with the beyond.

She "inherited" her psychic ability since her
grandmother and great grandmother were both psychics and were both knowledgeable
in "Magick".

She has successfully solved two murders and found
a kidnapped child.

Besides her psychic and metaphysical abilities,
Annette is an ordained minister with the Church of Eternal Life. And as such, is
a Reiki master trained to heal and teach the art of hands on healing known as
Reiki.

She attended several seminars with world renowned
psychics, Uri Geller and James Van Praagh.

Bridget

Reiki, Light Therapy, Rain Drop therapy, and
crystal healing can all be utilized to help the body heal itself. Reiki and
Light therapy channel healing energy to the body through the practitioner.
Crystal work balances the chakras to help the body to heal and essential oils
(Rain Drop Therapy) improves body function and detoxifies to allow self healing.
By using the pendulum to determine what is needed for each person this can be a
wonderful and enlightening experience.

Chris

I learned palm reading from my grandmother from
a  very young age. Though I am still young, I have a good amount of
experience in this art. Palm reading is a very efficient tool in discovering
more about yourself and what to focus on in the upcoming future. If one would
like to reveal their inner ambitions and be prepared for future troubles, palm
reading is perfect for just that.

Dana

Dana is an intuitive reader who uses the tools of
Tarot, Astrology and Numerology in order to give the best readings possible in
hopes of improving the life-area in question of the client.  She has been a
student of Astrology (western and eastern) for twenty years and has been doing
Tarot, Numerology and Astrology readings for seven years.  Her insatiable
desire for knowledge and her quest for inner truth have lead her to believe that
magic or miracles stem from deep within one’s soul. All one needs in order to
make dreams come true are pure desire and the certainty (faith) that it will
come to manifest in one’s life at the right moment in time.

Deborah

Deborah was trained and initiated in the
Wiccan tradition with teachings in the arts of high magic more than 7 years
ago.  Taught by an old Gypsy woman to read cards in her young adult years,
Deborah learned to read regular playing cards.  Deborah has been reading
regularly for friends for more than 20 years. Following the signs that the
universe has sent her, she is setting forth on a path to read
professionally for clients both privately and for parties and psychic
fairs.

Janice

Janice is an intuitive counselor and a Wiccan
Priestess. Long enamored of the Ancient Norse, and an avid student of their
customs and life ways, she prefers the innately minimalistic spirituality of
Runes, with which these northern peoples have long been associated, through
which best to sensitively channel guidance. Janice holds an MA in anthropology,
with a concentration in molecular studies, and also a U.S. Patent for a
nondestructive method through which ancient DNA can be recovered from teeth.

Judy

Judy is a Practical Magick II first degree
initiated Wiccan eligible for second degree in 2011. She has been reading Tarot
Cards for 25 years, but still hones her skills by frequently studying tarot
instructive and educational books. She continues to study so that she can help
others with their spiritual needs and guide them on the right path. Judy has
studied mediumship with Steve & Stella Upton, ministers and officiates of
the Spiritualists' National Union, and Joann Gerber, an internationally known
psychic medium and spiritual teacher. Judy is also a qualified spiritual healer.

Pauline

I am a clairvoyant/clairsentient/clairolfaction
psychic. In other words, I use my sense of vision (seeing, dreams), feeling and
olfaction as a tool for my intuitive knowing. I started having visions at a very
young age. During that time I was afraid of what I saw and knew, so I tried to
shut it down for fear of being misunderstood. Not everyone was like me, so I hid
it. But as time went by, I realized that whatever gift had been given to me was
not going away.  Actually, it was getting stronger and now I was beginning
to see and feel people who had passed away!  Immediately, I knew that my
gift was a blessing and I didn’t need to be afraid of it. I accepted it, and
even though I didn’t (back then) announce it to the world, I know now that I
must deliver information to you, the client.

I stumbled upon the Tarot cards not too long ago
and found my haven. I have been helping others through Tarot for two years.
However, throughout my life I have been “reading” and helping others without
realizing what I was doing. I’ve had dreams of loved ones and have been able to
guide them by helping them interpret their dreams. I usually begin to get
impressions of people as soon as I meet them.
I hope to be able to help you with whatever you
may be going through in your life.

Blessed Be!!!

Fun Events with NJ healing Center, July 2011!

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jun 22, 2011 7:26 pm (PDT)

Dear Friends,

I hope you are enjoying the strength of the sun, the warm days and the starry nights. Days of summer take me back to the time when I was a child. During this time, I would venture into the forest with my friends in search of treasure, which at the end of the day, it would end up being simply sticks and rocks and the occasional penny. As I grew older, books began to replace the forest, and the treasure was simply the magic contained within the pages of old books that my grandfather would hide in his study. This initial grandfather-study-venture became the seed of my insatiable curiosity for knowledge.

And the years went by and now all that I have devoured and learned needs to find and outlet. I have tons of goodies to share. In order to study more I must share what I have. Therefore, I am taking a leap in e-mailing you this small little note just to tell you that I will be periodically informing you of upcoming workshops that I will be offering. Many of you have taken some of my workshops, and those I will still be offering. In addition, I have several one-day workshops which I guarantee will be fun, informational, entertaining and inspirational.

My only desire is to share and inspire so that we may live in accordance with our own natures and desires. I truly believe that whatever you desire can be manifested in your life, and that whatever challenges you may be encountering are simply there to guide you to where you need to go. And as I express and share I learn - thank you.

Upcoming Workshops at the Healing Center
 http://www.njhealingcenter.com/ :

Tarot Workshop:

This is a fun four-week workshop in which you will experience how it feels to be an Oracle. At the oracle of Delphi (Temple of Apollo), in Greece, there is an inscription which reads, "Know thyself." It is exactly this phrase what is required to become an oracle or a prophet. By knowing ourselves, we can discover our weaknesses and strengths. In doing so, we touch upon true gentle power.

In this workshop I will take you through a journey in which you will meet many archetypes and characters. I use storytelling to better convey the ancient meaning of the cards. You will learn to use Tarot as a tool for developing and/or furthering your intuitive abilities. With your questions we will find answers.

Dates: June, 23, 30 & July, 7, 14
Time: 7:00-9:15 pm

----------------------------

Journey into Empowerment!

Own your Life!
Be yourself!
Embody abundance!

Connect with the mythical energies of your subconscious to create an environment of peace, love and abundance!

Have you ever listened to a story, read a book, or watched a movie in which you felt touched by some strange power? If so, then you have been empowered by the words of the story, movie and/or storyteller.

The subconscious is a powerful source of images and beliefs. Some of those images are not well suited for the present manifestation of your desires. Those images must be erased and replaced with new ones that will aid in quickening your powers of manifestation. There are many ways that we can achieve this: prayer, strong belief, meditation, visualization and habit. But story-telling, especially mythical story-telling will "speak-enchant" directly at your subconscious, hence chasing out those undesirable beliefs and images away from the confines of your mind. Story-telling has the capacity to heal your heart and soul back into Love.

This is a one-day workshop in which we will be travelling into the world of mythos. Many would call this world the basic, universal intelligence, or the basic patterns of all civilizations. For in truth, the cultures of the entire world are strongly woven with the threads of the ancient stories and myths of the world. Additionally, through myth, we are better able to understand concepts that may be too radical for our present mode of understanding. The phrase that I often get from students and clients when I have tried to explain certain concepts through a story is, "I get it! I don't know how..but I got it!" Others simply smile and that's when I know that they know.

Each time I teach this workshop I will tell a different myth, story, folktale or fairy-tale. Usually, I touch upon the Celtic, Norse, Greek, Roman, Mayan and Hindu myths, Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson tales, folktales from around the world, life-stories of people, and from my own collection of writings. My aim is to put you in contact with the powerful mythical archetypes that dwell hidden within yourself. In connecting with these powerful images you will be able to harness the power of creation; these are the basic tools needed to manifest the reality you wish to experience. Weaving mythos into reality is your God-given right.

Concepts to be discussed during this workshop: the power of letting go to clear up space for the new; the power of the word and sound to create; and the power of love and forgiveness to bring in abundance!

Mythological Source for this Workshop: Hindu Mythology

Date: July 21
Time: 7-9:30 pm

**************************************************************************

Upcoming workshops at Goddess in Eden:
http://www.goddessineden.com/Workshops.html

Divine Artist: Principles of Alchemy:

Life can seem chaotic sometimes for many, and organizing life into a peaceful whole becomes a lifetime effort, however it does not have to be that way. It only takes to change belief structures that have been created during your lifetime to begin to enjoy the life that you wish to live. We live in an archetypal world filled with symbols that are embedded in our psyche or subconscious. Transmuting certain limiting symbols and archetypal behaviors into more “efficient” patterns can affect the pattern of life â€" your life. Change, however, is no easy task, but it is the way towards a more fulfilling life.

Divine Artist I will introduce the individual to the basic concepts of change. Through story, symbol and metaphor I will encourage, empower and inspire you into the land of self-fulfillment. I will break down hard-to-understand concepts to its basic components, hence transmuting (changing) the basic limiting beliefs that are stopping you from attaining the life you wish to see manifest.
It is time to use the wonderful spiritual tools that you posses but may barely use due to the societal noise that deafens the ears and clouds the mind. It is time to hear, it is time to see, it is time that you made contact with the one powerful and creative source that lies deep within your magnificent and divine soul.

Dates: July 12, 19 & 26, August 2
Time: 7
-------------------------------

Tarot Workshop:

See description above and/or on the website.

Dates: July 13, 20 & 27, August 3
Time: 7pm

Daily Aromatherapy Tip  - BUG REPELLENT PILLOW

Daily Aromatherapy Tip  - BUG REPELLENT PILLOW

You can make a bug repellent pillow for a cat or dog by adding equals amounts of Lavender flowers, Cedarwood chips and Pennyroyal herb (NOT THE OIL), to the stuffing of a pillow or small homemade pet mattress. If you are substituting essential oils for the dried herbs, us ONLY 5 drops TOTAL to pillow or mattress and again AVOID PENNYROYAL OIL. I know that Penny royal oil is used in many animals recipes but I feel that it is too strong to be used directly on an animal. Also AVOID using Citrus Oils. While they are an ingredient in many flea repellents, they are used highly diluted. I once witnessed a small kitten go into convulsions after an unsuspecting owner applied orange oil to its fur. I would not use pure essential oils on young kittens and dogs. I tend to use homeopathy with my cats and seldom have the need to use essential oils on them.

~Sia, Southwestern America, Rain Invocation

Cover the earth four times with flowers.
Cover the sky with banks of clouds.
Cover the earth with fog.
Cover the earth with rain.
Let lightning cover the earth.
Let thunder cover the earth.
Let great rain cover the earth.
Let thunder be heard on the face of my mother.
~Sia, Southwestern America, Rain Invocation

This is the week when light and dark are least in balance. Light has won the annual struggle. The sun shines brightly for many hours every day.

Yet even now, the earth is moving in the direction of the autumnal equinox, when for a brief time all will rest in perfect balance. Just as both sun and rain are necessary for plant growth, so darkness as well as light is necessary for the earth's life to thrive. If there were no darkness, there would be no rest for the plants that comprise our basic food. If there were no darkness in our lives, we would not encounter the deep secrets that darkness holds. In this season of light, the earth reaches out to embrace again the dark. Let us do the same.

What's Happening Today:

Brittany: PARDON OF THE FIRE. The pagan FEAST OF THE SUN, celebrated until a soldier displayed the finger of John the Baptist in the 16th century. Bonfires & romancing continues, & a "dragon" still
lights fires.

England: ANCIENT DRUIDIC MIDSUMMER BALL.

New Orleans: Major Annual VOODOO CEREMONIES, since 1820, with ceremonies since the 1850's held at
Lake Pontchartrain.

Midsummer's Night's Eve - This is the eve of St. John's Day, which replaced the more ancient celebrations on Summer Solstice with a Saint's Day.  In a Victorian book of spells and incantations,
I found this divination which is supposed to be performed on Midsummer's Eve, around sunset. An odd number of women (three, five or seven) go into a garden and each picks a sprig of red sage. They put these into a basin of rosewater setting on a stool in the middle of a room they have set aside for this purpose. Then they tie a line from the stool to the wall and each woman takes off her shift and
hangs it, inside out, on the line. I assume this leaves them naked. Then they sit, silently (no matter what happens), in a row on the other side of the stool. Around midnight, each one's future
mate will take her sprig out of the water and sprinkle her shift with it. Cagliostro, attributed to, Spells and Incantations of Yesteryear, from an earlier edition by J Fletcher & Company, 1876, reprinted by Metheglin Press

Midsummer’s Eve is also called St John’s Eve. The official version says that St John was assigned this feast because he was born six months before Christ (who gets the other great solar festival,
the winter solstice). Actually it may have more to do with the story of St John losing his head to Salome. In ancient times, a ritual sacrifice was made to the goddess of midsummer.

Other midsummer symbols also accumulate around St John. He's the patron of shepherds and beekeepers. This is a time to acknowledge those wild things which man culls but cannot tame, like the sheep and
bees. The full moon which occurs in June is sometimes called the Mead Moon. The hives are full of honey. In ancient times, the honey was fermented and made into mead. According to Pauline Campanelli
in The Wheel of the Year, this is the derivation of honeymoon.

This is a traditional time for honoring water, perhaps because it plays such a vital role in maintaining life while the sun is blazing overhead. Several of the goddesses worshipped at midsummer
â€" Matuta, Anahita and Kupala â€" are associated with moisture and dampness. St John baptized with water while Christ baptizes with fire and the Holy Spirit. In Mexico, St John presides over all
waters. People dress wells and fountains with flowers, candles and paper festoons. They go out and athe at midnight in the nearest body of water. In the city, they celebrate at the bathhouse or pool
with diving and swimming contests.

Herbs and Lovers Midsummer Eve is also known as Herb Evening. This is the most potent night (and midnight the most potent time) for gathering magical herbs, particularly St John’s wort, vervain,
mugwort, mistletoe, ivy and fern seed. In some legends, a special plant, which is guarded by demons, flowers only on this one night a year. Successfully picking it gives one magical powers, like being
able to understand the language of the trees.

This is also a time for lovers. An old Swedish proverb says “Midsummer Night is not long but it sets many cradles rocking.” According to Dorothy Gladys Spicer in The Book of Festivals, Irish girls drop melted lead into water and interpret the shapes it makes. In Spain, girls do the same with eggs. In Poland, they combine three of the symbols of the holiday for a divination. Girls make a wreath of
wild flowers, put a candle in the middle, set it adrift on the river and tell the future by observing its fate.

Celebrating This is a great festival to celebrate outdoors. Go camping. Go out into the woods or up into the mountains or down to the beach. Find some place where you can build a bonfire and light it
when the sun sets. Bring along plenty of flowers (especially roses or yellow flowers like calendulas, St John’s wort, or marigolds). Fashion them into wreaths, wear them as you dance around the fire and throw them into the fire at the end of the night. Bring along sparklers too (but use them carefully). Indoors, use whatever symbols represent light and warmth to you: golden discs, sunflowers, shiny metal trays, chili pepper lights.

Gather magical and healing herbs at night on June 23. Hang St John’s wort over your doors and windows for protection; toss some on the fire as well. Harvest your garden herbs now so they will be extra potent.

To acknowledge the gift of water in your everyday life, decorate the faucets in your house. Z Budapest in The Grandmother of Time suggests walking to the nearest body of water, making a wish and then throwing in a rose you have kissed to carry your wish home. She provides the following wishing poem:

Yes, you are here in the soft buzzing grass. Yes, you are listening among the flowering gardens. Yes, you are shining from the most royal blue sky. Yes, you are granting me what I wish tonight. Grant me a healthy life rich with high purpose, A true partner to share my joys and my tears, Wisdom to hear your voice giving me guidance, Wealth to give to others as you have given to me.

Honoring Your Strength The sun is associated with will, vitality, accomplishment, victory and fame. As you throw your flowers into the fire, acknowledge your accomplishments. Write about these at
length in your journal, perhaps while sipping a cup of tea sweetened with honey, or gather your friends in a circle and go around several times with each person boasting about their strengths.  Assign a different topic for each round, for instance, aspirations, courage, achievement, competence. Toast each other (with mead, if you can find it). This is your night to shine. Source:

Britain:  Traditional Midsummer. Although Midsummer is celebrated by most Pagans worldwide on the eve and day of the actual Solstice, Britain traditionally celebrates on June 23rd. The Neo-Pagan holiday has been dedicated to the Green Man. The day also commemorates Cu Chulainn, a legendary Irish hero.

Asatru: Sommerblot. The Midsummer Festival is a century-old tradition in Scandinavia, celebrating the earth, summer, and the longest day of sunlight -- the Summer Solstice. In the North it is the time of the midnight sun. As with most Old World celebrations, Christianity has influenced some of the traditions. The festival now honors St. John the Baptist rather than pagan gods. Huge bonfires are built. In Finland, the bonfire is called a "kokko". The wood used is collected
throughout the year. Homes are decorated with garlands of wildflowers and greenery. People dance, visit friends and relatives all night. In pagan times people would jump over the bonfires for luck, and rituals and dances were once used to drive away evil spirits and ensure a fertile land. Today, Maypoles are erected and danced around. Huge crosses called "midsommarstoeng" are also built. The branches from birch trees are used to build the structure, and then covered with leaves and flowers. Young girls collect wildflowers and place them under their pillows to dream of their future loves, boys use a copper coin.

Slavic Pagan: Kupala - Kresen (June) 23. In the Old Russian tongue, Kupala means "bather", and the holiday is celebrated in remembrance of the human sacrifices made in olden times to the Master of things Submarine, Jasse, the Dragon. All through the night, people celebrate,
sing songs, hike, and tell fortunes. A blot is held near water. In times gone by, fires were lit in preparation for a sacrifice of a young maiden by drowning in the river. Later, human sacrifice was
replaced by a doll made of bread (a loaf-doll).

Goddess of The Day:  The Rousalii Rousalii (Romania)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:01 pm (PDT)

Goddess of The Day:  The Rousalii
Rousalii (Romania)

Themes:  Humor; Protection; Weather; Fertility; Fairies; Growth
Symbols:  Water; Linen; Green Robes

About the Rousalii:  A group of ill-treated women in life, these Goddesses often create mischief when they interact with humans, especially those with nasty dispositions.  They do, however, have a good side.  The Rousalii know the dances that make plants and people grow and thrive, and sometimes they will teach them to humans.  In literature, the Rousalii sometimes appear as water fairies, begging linen from passersby, which they use to make green robes for fertility rites.

To Do Today:  In Romania, people would tell you that it is best to stay home today and leave the Rousalii offerings of bread and salt to avert their impish ways.  If it's windy, definitely stay home; this means the ladies are in a foul mood.  To protect yourself, place wormwood under your pillow, pull the covers over your head, and stay put!

On a less drastic level, wear something green to keep them happy and try this spell to encourage the Rousalii's growth or maturity in any area of your life:  Take a little piece of linen (or cotton cloth) and dance with it in your hand, moving clockwise and saying,

"The dance of life, the dance of power, Rousalii, join me this magic hour!
To _____ bring growth and maturity; by your power this spell is freed!"

Fill in the blank with your intention. Tuck the swatch of cloth on your person, or close to the area that represents your goal.

Personal Energy Maintenance Spel

Personal Energy Maintenance Spell

For
protection and to maintain your personal energy field, visualize
yourself surrounded by an egg of energy. See this egg fill with light as
it surrounds you completely. In your mind, take a good look at this
egg. Inspect the front, the rear, and the sides, and examine the spaces
over your head and below your feet. If you notice any holes or anything
other than a clear, strong shell, fix it. See the outside of your egg as
strong yet flexible. Ask that this shell only allow in the most
beneficial energies, while it allows unwanted energy to flow freely out
and away from you. If you like, cover the shell with outward-facing
mirrors for added protection. Inspect and repair your shell regularly.

Abundance Floor Wash Spell

Ah,
the wonderful fields of summer greenâ€"symbolic of verdant earth,
abundance, the fecundity of Gaia. Try this green-scented floor wash to
harvest the abundance of the season. Add two cups fresh basil to a large
cauldron of boiling water. Remove the cauldron from heat. Add one ounce
of pyrite chips to the cauldron and cover. Set it outside overnight,
then strain the liquid. Be careful to remove and save the pyrite for
other spells. Add eight drops holy basil essential oil to the liquid.
Put a bowl of fine sea salt in the center of the room you are blessing.
Clean all surfaces with the abundance floor wash using a natural sea
sponge, concentrating on your desires the entire time. Sprinkle some of
the fine sea salt on stains as you work. Open the doors and windows if
possible so the spirits can aid your work. Good fortune should flow your
way.
