DailyOM - In Touch with True Emotions
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Gut Response
In Touch with True Emotions
Our bellies can be wonderful monitors of our emotional health and the truth can always be found there.
So often, emotions that we long to express get stored in our bodies instead. The space where this most often happens is in our bellies. Rather than telling people, our even ourselves, the way we truly feel, we may stuff our true feelings deep inside of us, where they take up space until we are ready to let them go. Stuffing our feelings in our bellies may feel like the âsafeâ response, since we then donât really have to deal with our emotions. Yet, doing so can actually be detrimental to our emotional well-being and physical health.
One way to connect with and release your emotions is to do a focused exercise with your stomach area. Take a moment to center yourself with some deep breathing and quiet meditation, relaxing your body fully and turning off the chatter in your brain. With your right hand on your stomach, tell yourself three times: âPlease reveal to me my true emotions.â Listen for the answers. Repeat the exercise as many times as you would like, allowing yourself to drop deeper into your body each time. Notice any physical response in the stomach area, whether you have a warm, relaxed feeling in the middle of your body or if you feel tight knots in response to any emotions that do come up. You may even want to write down any answers that come to you. Remember that the body doesnât lie.
Releasing our pent up feelings from our bellies can prevent disease and allow us to live more authentic and expressive lives. Sometimes, if too much emotional energy builds up inside of us, a blowout can result that can cause discomfort. You can help to alleviate this compression by doing the same exercise and adding sound to your emotional release. The more guttural the sounds released through your mouth, the more emotions you are likely letting go. Releasing your emotions from your belly doesnât have to be painful and hard; rather, it can be organic and effortless. Itâs important not to judge whatever comes up for you. We tend to stuff our feelings in our bellies when we are ashamed of them or not ready to express them. There is nothing wrong with having feelings, whatever they may be. You canât help your feelings; if anything, you can help yourself by acknowledging the truth of your emotions so you can set yourself free.

i love learning new things...
i did not know there was an optional holiday day. what is it for? when was
it created? can i google this?
festival of ranting and vaporing? is that like tempertantrums and passing
gas????? was this festival made for the two year old in all of us?
St. Eurosia? St. Molaug? wow, what's the story behind them? was one
a deity converted into saint? were people afraid headaches brought on
madness?
Please, don't take these questions critically, i really do like to learn new
things, and today's things just really struck me. ok, i'm going to bed now.

Today's Goddess: Hotogov Mailgan White Nights (Russia)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:29 pm (PDT)
Today's Goddess: Hotogov Mailgan
White Nights (Russia)
Themes: Sky; Tradition; Arts
Symbol: Pale Light
About Hotogov Mailgan: In Siberia, Hotogov Mailgan illuminates the night sky with her heavenly sparkle. She is the Queen of the Sky, a creative force for personal empowerment, and the manifester of the life energies in and around us.
To Do Today: Between June 21 and June 29 the skies in Russia always appear light gray at night because of the northern location. The effect throughout St. Petersburg is very magical, casting unique shadows on the lavender, pink, and yellow pastel-colored buildings. To celebrate this beauty, the citizens enjoy traditional Russian ballets, theatrical performances, and music. So, get out the theme music from Dr. Zhivago, rent a ballet featuring Barishnikov, or cook yourself up some Russian dumplings (varnekey) and invite this goddess to join you.
If you perform any magic today, try putting up some pastel-colored curtains around the space to filter the outside light so it suits Hotogove Mailgan. Or darken the room and use glow-in-the-dark stars to mark the magical circle so you're literally surrounded by her power.
Try taking a bubble bath and dotting the surface of the water with glitter to look like Hotogov Mailgan's night sky. Then sit, relax, and meditate, absorbing the hopeful, dreamy energy that her stars inspire in people everywhere.

WANING MOON RITUAL WITH BABA YAGA
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

WANING MOON RITUAL WITH BABA YAGA
You will need:
1 Black Candle to banish negativity and
release any unneeded 'baggage' you are carrying
1 White Candle for Positivite Energy
1 Candle for Baba Yaga (any dark color that appeals
to you will do)
1 Candle for yourself, in a color of your choice
Oil(s) for 'dressing' the candles
Incense, if desired
Cast your Circle, call in your guides and guardians, and the
Higher Powers. If you wish, call in the elements and the guardians
of the four directions... (all you have to do is say just that, if you are
keeping it simple). Remember that Baba Yaga is a Russian Crone
Goddess, also an Earth/Nature goddess. She can give you advice,
protection, and teach you about psychic things and rebirth. She
has some similarities to the Greek Hecate and the Celtic Cerridwen.
So if you have oils that will go well with the Crone aspect, by all
means use them, and an oil for the black candle such as Van Van
or some sort of banishing oil. If you don't have a variety, use olive
oil. Intent is the main thing. If you don't have a variety of candles,
use white or whatever you have... you are going to carve something
on the candles anyway, to intensify the intent.
First carve the candles, then oil them. On the black candle, carve
'banish negativity, release troubles'. On the white candle, you can
leave it uncarved, or carve 'positivity'. On your own candle, just carve
your name. On the goddess' candle just carve 'Baba Yaga'. You can
carve symbols that have meaning for you on them if you like. Then
oil your candles, and light them. When you are through with that, say
the invocation three times, feeling the energy growing and connecting
with Baba Yaga.
BABA YAGA INVOCATION
Grandmother Yaga, Baba Yaga!
We journey to your hut
That is carried on chicken feet;
And like the Russian heroes of old,
We come to seek your counsel.
You guard the fountain
With the Waters of Life and Death,
And live at the world's edge
Guarding the portal to the Otherworld;
You are full of great wisdom.
Teach us to let go of the unnecessary,
To be reborn in spiritual waters.
Your nature is wild and untamable...
Help us find that within ourselves,
And courage to walk our True Path.
I have seen you flying across the sky
Riding in your mortar, laughing!
Ancient Nature Mother,
Teach us to fly in the other worlds...
Give us your protection.
Baba Yaga, Baba Yaga!
We are outside your hut, knocking...
We will make tea and eat little cakes.
Please tell us stories of your adventures,
And help us develop our own.
When you are through with the invocation, open your Circle, saying
something like "The Circle is open, but unbroken", or whatever you
usually say. Then go to the door and open it, visualizing what you have
asked for coming to pass. Then say or yell (depending
on your neighbors), "So Mote It Be!"
Let the candles finish burning down safely before you go to bed.

Finnish Kalevala, Creation Myth
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:34 pm (PDT)
Luonatar made the mountains
from the footprints of her dancing.
Luonatar made sea caverns
as she dove and swan in pleasure.
Luonatar made the seashores
as she floated in the water.
Luonatar touched the seashores
and made spots for salmon netting.
~Finnish Kalevala, Creation Myth
Creativity is a natural part of life. It is not available only to the gifted people, but is something that is part of nature's way for all of us. As children, we all engaged our creative selves at every opportunity. We danced, we painted, we sculpted, we sang, we made up stories. Yet somewhere in our childhoods, we began to hear the critical message that our creative efforts would be judged - and judged harshly. So most of us limited ourselves. Perhaps we stayed creative in one aspect of our lives, defining ourselves by what was most praised by others. Meanwhile, within us, that child is still dancing and singing and sculpting and painting. She doesn't care whether anyone sees or praises her work, she just wants to create. Let her out to play during the summer days. She is a force of the Goddess, and she will enliven your life with energy.
