Notes:
"We must get back into relation, vivid and nourishing relation to the cosmos and the universe. The way is through daily ritual, and is an affair of the individual and the household, a ritual of dawn and noon and sunset, the ritual of the kindling fire and pouring water, the ritual of the first breath, and the last."

Camping and Overnight Accommodations

Again this year, we are going to let people camp wherever they want - in the field, forest or in-between. The pottapotties, showers, potable water, meals and concerts will all still be down near the house so if you camp in the woods, plan to get your hiking in. There will be designated fire pits. Do not make new ones. This time of year is typically dry but rainstorms have been known to happen, so we strongly recommend you bring a tarp or ground cloth to put under your tent.

Parking space is limited, so no campers or RV's, please.
There are a limited number of B&B's and inns in Bethel and nearby towns. Please contact Laurelin staff if you would like further information.

Toilets, Showers, and Water
Port-a-potties will be available on-site. There is an outdoor shower with warm water. (You may want to bring solar showers if you like warm/ hot showers). There is an outdoor sink for washing dishes and drinking water. All of these are down near the main house.

Meal Plan
We will again be offering our delicious meal plan - with both carnivore and vegetarian options - catered by the amazing Chef Dave. It includes: breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and brunch on Sunday (10 meals).

The plan can be bought either for the whole festival, Friday through Sunday, or just Saturday and Sunday. If you are signing up for the meal plan, we need your registration NO LATER than July 15th.

Please also let us know right away if you have any special dietary needs/ allergies.

Village Builders
This year we will be having a special day for those people who would like to come together as a smaller group to share, connect and participate in the creation of our magickal village. In ritual and with magickal intent, we will break into teams each dedicated to creating and maintaining one aspect of our magickal community - some hard physical labor, and others less so. Arrival is by Noon on Tuesday, August 3rd. There is no cost for coming to Village Builders however the meal plan will be offered (dinner on Tuesday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Wednesday). Cost for the Builders meal plan is an additional $28.00.

Workshops, Rituals, and Activities
If you have an idea for a workshop, ritual, discussion, performance, or children's activity - we'd LOVE to hear about it! Don't be shy - we're open to any and all ideas. Help us make Lughnasadh an exciting, rich and fun-filled experience that will keep everyone coming back year after year (and bringing more friends too!). Send your proposals via email to: laurelin@sover.net before July 1st. (Sooner is better!) You will be notified by July 8th whether or not it is accepted.

Vendor Info
We'd love to have lots of vendors for Lughnasadh 2011! Crafts, clothing, food, mead, New Age, whatever! We've got plenty of space and there is no fee for merchanting; however, we do ask a 10% commission on your sales at the end of the event. One person (the merchant) can have their registration fee waived. Any guests/ helpers would have to pay full registration. You still have to provide your own food, travel, etc. Please complete the Vendor Registration form and return it with your reservation along with photos of your booth and/or website information. These can be very useful for promoting you before you even get here. Please bring your own setup/display, weather protection, and safe storage facilities.

Pets/ Dogs
Dogs are welcome this year at the festival. However, you MUST provide proof of rabies vaccination or your dog will not be permitted. Further, all dogs must be kept on-leash at all times in the fields or around the house. They are free to run loose in the wooded areas. You are expected to pick up and dispose of any waste left in areas where people will be walking, camping, etc.

Your pet must be calm, non-disruptive, and under your control (on leash or off) at all times. If it fights with other animals, is disruptive by barking or other behaviors, is threatening or causes damage to the site or its other occupants, or not under your control at all times you will be required to take the pet off-site with no refund.

For more information or to get a registration packet: contact Kirk at laurelin@sover.net or 802-234-9670

Pompton Lakes is having their town wide garage sale on saturday, July 16th. I would like to ask if people wanted to donate things to sell for the garage sale and all proceeds from those items will go to an animal shelter. It is a great way to get rid of stuff and give back at the same time.

DailyOM - We Are All Mirrors for Each Other
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

June 29, 2011
Reflections of Self
We Are All Mirrors for Each Other
People you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them as well.

When we look at other people, we see many of their qualities in innumerable and seemingly random combinations. However, the qualities that we see in the people around us are directly related to the traits that exist in us. “Like attracts like” is one of the spiritual laws of the universe. We attract individuals into our lives that mirror who we are. Those you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them. Simply put, when you look at others, you will likely see what exists in you. When you see beauty, divinity, sweetness, or light in the soul of another, you are seeing the goodness that resides in your soul. When you see traits in others that evoke feelings of anger, annoyance, or hatred, you may be seeing reflected back at you those parts of yourself that you have disowned or do not like.

Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in your life can tell you a lot about yourself. Who you are can be laid bare to you through what you see in others. It is easy to see the traits you do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that you possess those same traits. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviors of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.

When you come into contact with someone you admire, search your soul for similarly admirable traits. Likewise, when you meet someone exhibiting traits that you dislike, accept that you are looking at your reflection. Looking at yourself through your perception of others can be a humbling and eye-opening experience. You can also cultivate in you the traits and behaviors that you do like. Be loving and respectful to all people, and you will attract individuals that will love and respect you back. Nurture compassion and empathy and let the goodness you see in others be your mirror.

Are we Seeking a Balance?

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Are we Seeking a Balance?

The Four Pillars of Strength are:

"To dare, to will, to know, to keep silence"

How do we encourage a balance in our every day life with ourselves?
How do you know yourself?

What are our connections in the world around us?

How hard it it to keep an open mind and act with responsibilities, respect others and keep that balance when we have to share a relationship with many different cultures out there?

Is there any good exercises to encourage a sense of inner and outer balance?

What does the four Pillars and how do you use it in everyday life, spells and rituals?

Isaiah 54:2-7

Stretch out your tent. Pull out the curtains of the entry
to form a welcoming pavilion. Make strong the stakes
and test the tautness of the cords. For your lover approaches.
Tonight, you too will be spread open in welcome love.
Fear not, for love extends across the years and the nations.
Fear not, for your lover is passionate and compassionate,
your lover brings the spirit into your life.
~Isaiah 54:2-7

In mystical literature, the spirit's highest self often appears as the lover, the beloved one of the heart. Sometimes this lover appears as a god, but sometimes there is no apparent divinity, just the beauty of human love.

What is the mystery this language embodies? That the soul becomes one with itself in the great transformation that is life. As we move through our life's seasons, we meet and marry our inner opposites. We who are outwardly oriented in our youth become more withdrawn as we mature; those for whom the inner life is more important are drawn to the outer world. The talkative grow more silent, the silent more loquacious. Spiritual literature encourages us to embrace our opposites, to love them passionately and compassionately, for they are what move us toward wholeness.

Saint Joan of Arc Feast Day - St Joan is listed for three different dates in May: May 12, May 14 and May 30. This peasant girl heard the voices of St Michael, St Catherine and St Margaret, advising her to help the King of France recover his throne from the English. She led a small army which was successful at first. When she was captured by the English, she was tried and condemned to death as a witch. Facing her funeral pyre, she recanted and said that she had lied about the voices coming from God. She was sentenced to life imprisonment and told she must wear women's clothing from now on. A few days later, after suffering "great wrongs and violence," at the hands of her captors, she put on men's clothing again and shortly thereafter (on May 30) at the age of 19 was burned to death at Rouen.

Her story reminds us of the dangers of claiming direct revelation from God (although medieval women saints like Teresa of Avila and Hildegard of Bingen had done so earlier) in a time when all divine messages were supposed to be mediated through the hierarchy of the Church. She also violated the traditional sense of a woman's role, with her insistence on dressing as a man and leading an army. Although she would not have considered herself a witch, her death was the harbinger of the Burning Times which began a century later. Ironically, the Catholic church condemned the council that condemned her in 1456, at the same time women were being burnt as witches, although Joan was not canonized until 1920. In the Vodou tradition, Ogun, the God of Iron, a warrior deity, is celebrated on St Joan's day.

The Festival of Frigg - Frigg, in Norse mythology, goddess of the sky and wife of Odin, the chief of the gods. She was worshiped as the protector of married love and housewives. A bunch of keys was her symbol. Frigg had two sons, Balder, the god of light, and Hoder, the blind god of darkness, who killed Balder with a mistletoe sprig. Frigg's name survives in the English word Friday (Frigg's day). In German mythology, Frigg was sometimes identified with Freya, the goddess of love.

Einherjar (Norse/Teutonic) - Minor modern Asatru festival honoring the warriors who fell during battle and who asceded to Valhalla's halls.

16th day of Epipi - Ma´at is taken to Ra in Heliopolis.

Plynteria - Solemn cleansing of image of Greek Athena Polias in the sea.

Feast of the Queen of the Underworld - celebration honoring the underworld goddesses such as Hecate, Cybele, and in later times Black Isis.

Today's Goddess: Juno Festival of Juno (Rome)

Wed Jun 29, 2011 8:23 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: Juno
Festival of Juno (Rome)

Themes:  Femininity; Love; Relationships; Romance; Kinship; Time; Protection (Women and Children); Leadership
Symbols:  Cypress; Peacocks; Cuckoo; Luxurious Clothing; Figs; Moon (or Silver Items)

About Juno:  The supreme Goddess of the Roman pantheon, Juno offers a helping hand in every aspect of our relationships, especially the safety and happiness of women and children in those settings.  Juno is also a very modern minded goddess, taking an active role in public life and finances.  Beyond this, she rules women's cycles giving her connections with the moon.  Art depicts Juno always wearing majestic clothing befitting the "Queen of Heaven."

To Do Today:  According to Roman folklore, marrying today ensures a long, happy relationship.  So if you're planning a wedding or an engagement, or even moving in together, Juno can bless that commitment if you time the big step for today!  As part of your devotion ritual, don't forget to wear special clothing (perhaps something your partner especially likes) to invoke Juno's attention and loving energy.

If you'd like to connect with Juno's feminine force, her leadership skills, or her sense of timing within yourself, eat some fig-filled cookies today (or just some figs), saying,

“Juno, bring _______to my spirit, my wish fulfill.
By your power, through my will.”

Fill in the blank with whatever aspect of Juno you most need to develop.

Playful Wishes Spell Bottle

A home where people know how to be playful, and where they have a sense
of humor, is a welcoming place where you want to spend time. Use this
spell bottle to help counterbalance the sometimes harmful effects a busy life can have on our psyche and family dynamicsâ€"effects that overshadow the natural humor and lightheartedness in a household. To start, you’ll need a small, wide-mouthed jar to serve as a container. Into the bottle go the following goodies, in order: beach sand, small shells, hemlock
or other small cones and seed pods, and one butterfly wing. As you place them in the jar, remember the fun you had while gathering your items
and imagine this playful energy infusing your home, making it more and
more welcoming. Remember: Please don’t harm a live butterfly in order to get its wing. Be patient and ask natureâ€"in time, you will be provided
with one.

June Fairy Attraction Spell

June Fairy Attraction Spell

In June, my garden is an oasis of color and fragrance-I hope yours is too. Now is a good time to attract the fairy folk
to your garden. First, mark off the area with a mixture of water and olive oil, sprinkling it here and there with your fingers,
and say:

"Water, olive oil, bind and protect the soil I call mine.

Beneath ferns and foxgloves, and near rocks and the base of trees, sprinkle a few grains of clear glitter. Then say:

I welcome you spirits of tree and vine."

Ground your energy when done. Perform this spell during a waxing Moon outdoors, at that breathless moment just before sunset.

Orange Geranium French Clay Body Mask

Orange Geranium French Clay Body Mask

This is a fantastically fragrant blend of delicious ingredients that
will bring a smile to your face while removing excess dirt and build-
up from the surface of your skin.

Ingredients:
5 ounces white clay (kaolin)
5 ounces French green clay
1/2 ounce honey
6 ounces distilled water
10 drops sweet orange essential oil
5 drops geranium essential oil

Blending Procedure:

Combine the white and green clays in a bowl and stir to mix fully.
Set aside.

In a heat proof bowl, warm the distilled water in the microwave. Do
not boil the water; make it warm to the touch.

Add the honey to the water and stir well to combine. Add the honey
water to the clay a little at a time, mixing between each addition
until a smooth and spreadable paste is formed. If the mixture is too
dry after adding all of the honey water, add more water and stir to
incorporate. If the mixture is too wet and runny after adding all of
the honey water, add more clay and stir to incorporate.

Add the essential oils and stir well to combine. To use, place an old
sheet or plastic bags together on a carpeted floor. Sit down and
apply the mask to clean, damp skin. Relax for 15-20 minutes so the
clay can exercise its drawing powers. Rinse well in the shower and
follow with the moisturizer of your choice. Enjoy!!

Women's Planting Song of the Jibaro People of South America

We are daughters of Nungui,
daughters of the earth.
We are daughters of the earth.
We are going to sow.
Mother, come and help us,
help us with our task.
Aren't you our mother?
Aren't we your girls?
There is only forest here
where we need to plant.
Only with your help
will we clear our way.
Who else can we call upon
as we plant our fruit?
~Women's Planting Song of the Jibaro People of South America

The cycle of agriculture is a great metaphor for our inner lives. First we must prepare the soil, then we plant; we tend and weed and water, and then we harvest. And finally, we rest before the next cycle begins.

In today's world, we often do not leave enough time for all the parts of this natural cycle to reveal themselves. It is as  though we are constantly planting and harvesting, allowing no fallow time nor time for growth. One thing ends and we are on to the next, whether that be a job or a relationship, a project or an interest. Yet, if we observe nature, we will se how much more gradual and graceful is her cycle. The corn does not rush to put out its tassled fruit. If we live within the grace of the Goddess' seasons, we will live well indeed.
