when i feel threatened by someone/thing, i tend to picture a fuzzy grey
cloak that envelopes me had to toe, and hides me. it's black and starry,
like the night sky on the inside. then, i picture my mind as a main street,
and i bring in a fog that covers everything. then it becomes pink, and
sticky, and smells like cotton candy, and i let that fill my eyes. no one
can get to me through those defenses. -Deardre

I call on the fox. Fox has the magic of camouflage and hiding in plan sight. I use fox magic a lot when I go hunting. Used to work well in my old security jobs.
Many blessings

"They failed miserably."
-Editorial describing betrayal of public trust by Kansas officials "Stunning Betrayal" In Kansas
Kansas' leading newspapers are outraged over collusion between state officials and a power plant company that allows construction of a controversial coal-fired power plant. Earthjustice and its allies fought for years to keep the unnecessary, polluting Sunflower power plant from being permitted. Read Full Story.

From Earthjustice's blog: Tomorrow's Problem Today: Natural Gas
Instead of being the bridge fuel to a clean energy future, natural gas could actually stall progress in that direction, warns Earthjustice President Trip Van Noppen. Drilling for it can devastate our wild lands. Using it has health and climate change impacts, and can prevent adoption of renewables. Read Trip's Column

Cruising To Victory In Alaska
If nothing else, those mammoth cruise ships in Alaska are visual pollution—but there is an else, and lots of it. The ships generate tons of wastewater pollution allowed by the state under a faulty permitting system—that Earthjustice has successfully challenged. A court ordered the state to have ships prove they are using the best technologies to control their waste streams. Read More EPA Reveals Chemicals Used In Dispersants
Almost a year after Earthjustice sued, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has revealed some of the chemicals in dispersants used against oil spilled in the Gulf of Mexico during the BP well disaster. Millions of gallons of dispersants were released in a risky, unprecedented and untested tactic. Read More
Judge Slakes San Pedro Thirst
The almost-extinct San Pedro River, last free-flowing desert river in the southwest, has a friend in federal court. A judge, ruling in favor of an Earthjustice lawsuit, said that a plan to keep the river from being sucked dry by nearby Fort Huachuca and the town of Sierra Vista was inadequate. The ruling comes as the river flow dribbles to near an historic low. Read More

Magic Rose - Another Victorian love charm attributed to Cagliostro: Pick a full-blown, bright red rose on June 27th between the hours of three and four in the morning. Make sure no one sees you. Take it to you room and hold it over a chafing dish full of charcoal and sulphur of brimstone for about three minutes. Supposedly this has a marvelous effect on the rose although I can't imagine what and I suspect this concoction would be toxic. Now take the rose and put it into a sheet of writing paper on which you've written your name, the name of your sweetheart, the date of the year and the name of the morning star that is ascendant at the time (should be Mercury on this date in 2002). Fold the paper and seal with three separate seals, then immediately bury it under the bush from which you plucked the rose. It must stay there untouched until July 6th, when you dig it up at midnight, put it under your pillow and have a marvelous dream. You can repeat this for
three nights but at the end of that time, burn both the rose and the paper. Cagliostro, attributed to, Spells and Incantations of Yesteryear, from an earlier edition by J Fletcher & Company, 1876, reprinted by Metheglin Press

Today's Goddess: Shakuru Sun Dance (Northcentral United States)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Today's Goddess: Shakuru
Sun Dance (Northcentral United States)
Themes: Theft; Divination; Sun; Truth; Magic
Symbols: Sun; Gold/Yellow Items
About Shakuru: Pawnee Daughter of the Moon and Goddess of the sun, Shakuru joins summer celebrations by shining her light on today's ceremony. In Pawnee stories, Shakuru's son became the first man on earth, making her the mother of humankind.
To Do Today: About this time of year the Plains Indians gather to welcome the sun and all its power. All manner of magical practices take place during this rite, including divinations to uncover a thief or murderer using totemic practices. For our purposes this might translate into divining for a totem animal whom we can call on for guidance and energy in times of need.
To do this you'll need a lot of animal pictures (cut from magazines or anywhere else you can find them). Make the images the same shape and size to ensure randomness. Sit quietly with these face-down before you and ask Shakuru to guide your hand. Don't move quickly, and wait until the paper below your hand feels warm, a sign of Shakuru's presence. Turn it over and see what animal it is, then read up on that creature in folklore collections to see what message it's bringing you.
As much as possible, try to move clockwise today (imitating the natural movement of the sun through the sky). Walk through your house going to the right, stir your coffee clockwise, clean windows using clockwise strokes, and so forth. This honors Shakuru and draws the sun's blessings into your life.

Mint Spell for Sleep

Mint Spell for Sleep
I
The mints in my herb garden reach their peak
in June. Their leaves glisten in the Sun, and their scent fills that corner of
the garden. Herbalists have long regarded mint as a healing herb that calms us
physically and mentally. If you're tense and can't rest, the scent
of mint can help ease you into a peaceful sleep. To work this spell, cut at
least three stems of mint—spearmint or peppermint are best—and
place the stems in a small vase by your bed. Finely chop another three stems of
mint, and place these on a white cloth. Tie the cloth up with blue ribbon.
Inhale the scent deeply. Place the bag of mint beneath your pillow, and repeat
these words three times: "Mint so green, bring me peaceful rest." ~ James Kambos

Daily
Aromatherapy Tip– Elemi
Known as the "Poor Man's Frankincense", it has many of the same
properties. Wonderful for stress, especially when the stress
has led to exhaustion. Elemi acts as a tonic and has a stimulating action. Yet
it calms without making one sleepy.

Serbian Song To The Goddess
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Sun Jun 26, 2011 9:35 pm (PDT)
Think of a sapling growing in the morning sun.
Think of its strength: that is the Goddess.
Think of corn silk: that is her hair.
Think of matched jewels: those are her eyes.
Think of swan's wings: her hands.
Think of gray doves: her breasts.
Think of how sweet pigeons coo:
now you are hearing the voice of the Goddess.
~Serbian Song To The Goddess
As in so many lands, we find in Serbian literature many poems praising the beauty of the Goddess. Such poems praise as well the beauty of nature, for the Goddess is part of - perhaps the sum of - the natural world. In the birds and plants and animals and mountains and oceans that are our planetary mother creates, we see a reflection of all that she is. Yet nature, plentiful and prolific, is beyond all that we witness, ceaselessly producing new creatures, inventing and creating with a power that far exceeds our ability to comprehend it.
How can we not take care of the earth? Each action we take affects the planet that gave us life and sustains that life. If we actually look at the world for one day, seeing its myriad beauties, how could we ever injure her again?
