Marriage Month Spell
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Marriage Month Spell
Incense of the day: NeroliÂ
Â
June is the marriage
month, and the month of the Mead Moon, from which we get the term
"honeymoon.â (Traditionally, a honey liquor called mead was consumed the night after a wedding). The idea of a sacred marriage comes from
medieval alchemy, in the search for the ideal union of opposites. That
is, in this system, fire and air (male elements) and earth and water
(female) were united to form matter. A ritualized marriage ceremony
often means offering a vision of the sacred marriage. In general, you
should open your mind and heart to unification and harmony in all
aspects of your life. If there are opposing forces or active conflicts
manifesting in your life, ask yourself if reconciliation or compromise
is possible. By seeing opposing forces for what they are, and giving
appropriate consideration to all sides, we gain perspective and learn
how to achieve balance and so enjoy the fullness of existence.Â

What's Happening Today:
Fornax
- The Romans celebrated the festival of Fornax, goddess of ovens, by
hanging garlands of flowers on ovens and wreaths on the necks of the
mules who turned the mills.
Field, Carol, The Italian Baker
Vestalia
- In ancient Rome, this was the day set aside for a public festival for
the hearth goddess Vesta. Women walked barefoot around her round temple
with offerings. The Vestal Virgins prepared the ritual food: mola
salsa, a cake of salt and the first grain. The water came from vessels
that could not be set down without spilling and the salt was pounded in a
mortar, baked and sawn. It became a holiday for millers and bakers.

St Columba*
Day of Colum Cille the beloved
Day to put the loom to use
Day to put sheep to pasture
Day to put coracle on the seas
Day to bear, day to die
Day to make prayer efficacious
Day of my beloved, the Thursday.
This
is the luckiest day of the year when it falls on Thursday (alas! This
year it falls on Monday). St Columba was one of the most beloved of
Celtic saints. The magical herb, St John's Wort, which flowers around
summer solstice, was said to be his favorite herb. He wore it underneath
his armpit to ward off all kinds of evil. If find some accidentally and
you say this charm when you pick it, you can use it the same way:
Arm-pit package of Columba the kindly
Unsought by me, unlooked for
I shall not be carried away in my sleep
Neither shall I be pierced with iron
Better the reward of its virtues
Than a herd of white cattle.

Every Day a Picnic Spell

Every Day a Picnic Spell
Â
Everybody loves a picnic, including ants. Those of us who walk on two legs generally prefer not to share a meal
with those who walk on six. You donât need to resort to chemicals in order to find a little picnic peace; instead, just ask:
Â
For our goodies you may yearn-
Sister Ant, please wait your turn.
Donât rush in to steal our food,
Thereâs no need to be rude.
We wonât eat up every crumb,
If youâre patient youâll get some.
We will leave them when weâre through;
Weâll leave a picnic just for you.
Itâs that easy to gain insect cooperation.

Book of Judith
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Wed Jun 8, 2011 8:27 pm (PDT)
She was Beautiful in appearance,
and had a very lovely face;
she had inherited gold and silver
and cattle and fields, and
she maintained her estate
well and made it flourish.
No one spoke ill of her.
~Book of Judith
Among the many strong
female figures in the Hebrew scriptures, the warrior maiden Judith is
one of the most memorable. When her people were subjugated under the
tyrannical Holofernes, Judith took it upon herself to convince the king
to entertain her - and then decapitated him while he slept.
This dramatic incident
is what we usually remember when we think of the Biblical Judith. Yet
before and after that heroic action, Judith was a woman whose life
resembles ours: working to sustain her family through her own
enterprise. She was recognized among her people for the care she took
with her fields and those who worked them. And out of that everyday
Discipline, Judith drew the strength to act courageously when necessary. For each of us too, our daily lives are the seedbed for the moments
when we are tested.. By Patricia Monaghan ~ From "The Goddess Companion"
