Thank you, Cher, for posting this. I love it. To me it sounds very similar to what Doreen Valiente in 'Natural Magic' calls 'colour magic.' Seeing yourself surrounded by an egg-shaped ball of light of a particular colour. She describes these correspondences:-

A clear, rosy red = Strength and confidence. Good to use in the presence of lowering/depleting conditions.

Golden yellow = Highly developed intellect. Good to use in the presence of people who will try to overcome you in argument.

Clear, bright blue = Use to cool and transmute emotional reactions.

Clear and shining white = protection against evel.

But I must say that, personally, I find blue, rather than white, to be the ultimate protection against evil.
