Good article in SMH today.

What do we think of the proposition - to self-nominate as "Pagan-(subset)" described in this paragraph below, from the article:

"Mr Hepworth hopes the weight of people nominating ''pagan'' as their primary faith, followed by their variant after a dash, will prompt it to be reclassified as an umbrella term by the Australian Bureau of Statistics - the first step in consolidating pagan numbers and gaining wider recognition as a legitimate religious choice."

What do we think?

<smile> We think very positively! I didn't see the article, but I've been doing something similar (maybe a colon instead of a dash) for decades. It could catch on!

Yesterday I was visited by one of my brothers - the one with a Pagan wife - and his family. I was chatting away, and one of the little boys asked in all innocence "What does Pagan mean?"

It was so deeply embedded in his lifestyle that he just thought of it as "normal". <grin>

So one could put "Normal" in the "religion" field on the Census form!

Helpful and constructive as always, Bill.

Those familiar three syllables, yet again, carefully chosen from what is clearly an impressive, nuanced philosophical repertoire, the magnificence of whose full spectrum is likely to be beyond the comprehension of the uninitiated.

I must confess to harbouring a secret desire to know what inscrutable wisdom went into this effort of sheer intellectual prowess as to be able to process an algorithm the sum of whose potentia extend into the loftiest reaches of the dim future of our Sacred isle, and to then condense it into a trisyllabic exclamation. For such abilities are rare and highly prized.

I would therefore humbly ask, out of personal curiosity, that over and above the admirably concise gesture offered in your initial response, that you perhaps share with us some of the bases upon which you erect such glistening, Palladian spires of objection?
