Making a Dark Banishing Powder

There is always something we can banish from our lives to help us
function as more complete spiritual beings. Whether it's a harmful
habit, attitude, situation, or illness, it's inevitable that something
is almost always keeping us from metaphysical growth. For this reason,
it's good to keep on hand a banishing potion or powder to use whenever
the need arises. Magic can assist in banishing harmful things from our
lives when used alongside necessary physical care and intelligent
choice-making.

To create a banishing powder, pulverize, grind, and mix
together any combination of the following: sulfur, snake skin, dead
bugs, black pepper, white salt, black salt, red pepper, snail shells,
graveyard dirt, anvil powder, black sand, iron, mullein, sage, and
"fiery" herbs. Keep the powder in a jar and store covered in black
fabric in order to keep energies contained.

Learned Self-Reliance
The Negative Effects of Spoiling Children

When children are spoiled we do them a great disservice because they are not being allowed to earn and learn.

Parents are moved by instinct to love, nurture, and provide for their offspring. Because our children are so much a part of us, we want to see them blissfully happy. Also, our own desire to be liked, materialist pressures, and a fervent wish that our children have everything we lacked as youngsters can prompt us to spoil them. However, while it might seem that buying your child expensive gifts will give them fond memories of childhood or that you can heal your emotional wounds by doting on your sons and daughters, you may be unconsciously interfering with your children's evolutional development. One of the most precious gifts you can grant your children is the true independence they gain when they learn to earn what they covet and become stewards of their own happiness. Try allowing your children to experience life to the fullest. Let them work and earn what they want. When the time comes for them to go to college and enter the workforce, you will have
the confidence that yo! u have raised a child that can both enter and contribute to society confidently.

When children are not afforded the opportunity to explore self-reliance, to understand that with possession comes price, and to fulfill their own needs, they develop a sense of entitlement that blinds them to the necessity of hard work and the needs of others. We may spoil children because giving them gifts is pleasurable. Or we may want to avoid conflict out of fear that our children won't love us. Yet children who are given acceptance, love, and affection in abundance are often kinder, more charitable, and more responsible than those whose parents accede to their every material demand. They develop a strong sense of self that stretches beyond possessions and the approval of their peers, and as adults they understand that each individual is responsible for building the life they desire. If you find yourself giving in to your child's every whim, ask yourself why. You may discover that you are trying to answer for what you feel is lacking in your own
life.

Rearing your children to respect the value of money and self-sufficiency as they grow from infants to young adults is a challenging but rewarding process. It can be difficult to watch a child struggle to meet a personal goal yet wonderful to be by their side as they achieve it. Your choice not to spoil your children will bless you with more opportunities to show them understanding and compassion and to be fully present with them as they journey toward adulthood.

Love, Light and Abundant Blessings,
LadyHawk

need some suggestions

I need some ideas to send to my granddaughter. She called me last night asking for some help.
School just started and she isn't in any classes with her friends..except for her math class. Her former "best friend" is also in the class. They had been friends for years and something happened last year and they no longer talk to each other.
My granddaughter wants some help in not being so negative and depressed. She said thats the way she was last year and she doesn't want to be that way this year. She is 15 (will be 16 Dec.1st) and this is really scaring me.
She said she has been wearing the bracelet made of black stones I gave her..don't remember the stone. I knew she had an amyethest..so told her to put that in her back pack. Told her to ask her Mom for help in "saging" her room and herself. To work on developing a positive attitude...each day to find even some little thing to be positive about. Yay, its only 95º out today and not 100....yay, my doggies love me. Then in regards to her friend...try not to think of how bad you feel because something happened and you are no longer friends..but to think of the good times you had together while you were friends.
I am going to send her an e-mail so she will remember what I told her...but...what other ideas can I give her to get her out of feeling so negative? She normally doesn't call me..but she does know I am a witch and do practice different things..so that is why I am really worried.
Any and all ideas will really be appreciated.

Dear Pat,  It sounds like your granddaughter has a very smart Grandmother.
Seriously, I think your advice was good.  She is aware and trying to generate the positive energies she feels she wants in her life.
As for your fear, perhaps lunch with her when you can will give her an outlet to vent, get some positive input to staying aware and upbeat will help on both sides.
I always hesitate to respond when children are involved because I've had none of my own, but, I have neices and nephews that are part of my heart.  It is very hurtful when they are hurting.  Lighting a candle for you both to find the right words to help her along.

Love, Light and Abundant Blessings,
LadyHawk

Lionaire, that is such a difficult age. I remember it with my own kids...glad I (and they) got through it.

Wearing the black stones is a great idea--they might be obsidian, which will absorb negativity. Have her carry the amethyst or a rose quartz on her which will radiate warmth and positive energy.

If her mom won't let her cleanse the room with sage or incense, she could use a broom, sweeping counterclockwise, to remove the negative energy.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for August 23

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Tuesday, August 23

One of the fonder memories of my childhood was waking up after losing a tooth to find that the Tooth Fairy had rewarded me with two quarters for showing such courage in the face of mouth pain. Given my propensity to still believe in elves and faeries, this fact shouldn't be too surprising. Still, yesterday was 'Tooth Fairy Day' and aside from all the wee ones who still believe in being stealthily rewarded while snuggled in their beds, as an adult I'd like nothing better than to keep that darn Tooth Fairy at bay. Loose teeth are a sign of gum disease and can plague even the most dedicated flosser. Aside from brushing and flossing twice a day, and seeing your dentist for regular check ups, there's one other alternative remedy that is said to strengthen loose teeth. This holistic remedy says to pour one quart of freshly boiled water over one cup of chopped fresh parsley and to let it stand for 15 minutes. Strain and refrigerate this mixture and keep it as parsley water. This advice says to drink three cups of this water daily until those loose teeth go away. But if you've just got that loose tooth feeling, this herbal remedy will make it go away. Without all the glitter, I'm afraid, but this advice is still worth its weight in gold fillings.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Using Banishing Powders

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Tue Aug 23, 2011 12:35 pm (PDT)

Using Banishing Powders

The simplest of these methods is the powdering of ourselves or an amulet, candle, or ritual tool with a particular ritual Powder, more complex methods can involve full magickal rituals, with the casting of the circle, calling and invocation of the elements, the burning of Ritual Incense, anointing with Ritual Oils and then the blowing of Ritual Powders to affect particular circumstances, people or spirits. However, in general Powders are use in one of a few basic ways, Sprinkling, Blowing, Dressing items, Making Drawings, Wearing, or as part of a larger ritual or magickal spell.
Sprinkling is done in a number of ways. It can involve laying down powders while walking backwards, placing small piles in the corners of rooms, making a line at the doors, casting powders out over walkways, or even onto carpets to then be vacuumed up.
Blowing is done normally by placing a small amount of the powder into the palm of the hand, or onto a sheet of paper and then blowing the Powders towards a person, place, direction, or the Sacred Four Quarters.
Dressing items is often as simple as sprinkling the powders over items (or lightly dusting the items with sachet powders on a makeup brush) and then blowing or shaking off the extra for collection and reuse later. This method can be used on almost anything; ritual candles, paper money and coins, business cards, job applications, mortgage papers, handkerchiefs, and especially love letters.
Making Drawings with powders is done in a number of ways; powders can be used to mark out the circle for rituals, to make magickal patterns on the altar, or to mark out visually the intentions of a spell. Although this can take a little artistry to pull off it can be visually stunning and often well worth the extra effort of getting it just right.
Wearing powders is as easy as using normal Talc or other cosmetic powders and you can dress your body with perfumed Ritual Powders or carry them in an old fashion bosom bag sachet bag but you can also carry them along with other magickal items in a bag in your pocket or even hidden in your shoe.
The following is a list of powders and their properties that can be used in assistance of your magickal work.

Pagan and Witchcraft Powders and Dusts
Here are some of the oldest Powders you might want to have amongst your ritual tools:

ABRAMELIN POWDER comes down from an ancient Jewish formula specified by Abramelin the Mage from a medieval grimoire called "The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage". This powder, and its accompanying ritual oil, is highly esteemed by those who follow more ceremonial magickal traditions and is of great benefit to those who follow the course of ritual activities.

SALT is a common household item but it has a long history of use for Purification and Protection. Some magicians particularly those from ceremonial traditions believe it is better to use Kosher Salt and that it has more power to it.

SALTPETER is often mixed with two other minerals to make a Sprinkling Powder. One very popular mixture consists of a teaspoon of SALTPETER, a cup of SALT, and a tablespoon of POWDERED BLUEING to help remove negative influences and for Spiritual Cleaning.

SULPHUR POWDER is a naturally occurring mineral dust and can be mixed with Salt and then sprinkled or laid down to help clear and clean out an area of negative spell work.

WITCHES' SALT, also known as Black Salt, is a mixture of Salt and Charcoal, Salt and Iron Pot Scrapings, Salt and Black Pepper, or Salt that has been dyed black and is used to drive away evil, or to make an enemy leave you alone.

Hoodoo Powders
and Conjure Sachet Powders
Here are some more modern Powders which are really great to have on hand:

BANISHING POWDER: Never call anything up you can not put down. How often have we been taught this and how often do we find ourselves having to put down the negative actions of others? Banishing Powder is a must! It helps remove unwanted people or situations and is strong without being heavy handed or destructive.

BEWITCHING SACHET POWDER: How could we leave out a magickal Powder called Bewitching? Obviously we can't! Bewitching Powder is a lady's best friend it adds just the right blend of mystery, fascination, and sexual allure to love spells. This is a great one to use during the full of the moon on that certain partner.

CROWN OF SUCCESS SACHET POWDER: To help you succeed and achieve recognition in school, career, or your magical work there is no finer magical formula than the Crown of Success family. This traditional Powder is tried and true and helps crown you and uplift you in all endeavors that you might undertake.

CRUCIBLE OF COURAGE POWDER: Here is a Ritual Powder that is an invaluable tool amongst any set of tools. Too often we allow fear to climb up on top of us and rob of our intent and will and this powder helps increase one's personal determination, courage, and bravery. Always good to have on hand particularly when one must face darker, negative powers.

KISS ME NOW! SACHET POWDER: This old fashion Sachet Powder helps to rapidly bring about a sexual encounter or increase desire in marriage. It has a firm draw to it and some might find it a little coercive but it works more with Venus natural feminine allure and sometimes you just need a good time, you know?

LOOK ME OVER SACHET POWDER: This is a really great ritual and daily use Powder, it's just the right blend of soft attraction without being coercive and is very useful in glamouring spell work and to help attract the visual admiration of men. Use this one after a Ritual Bath, for an extra oomph use this at the time of the full moon and she'll help make the men howl.

TRANQUILITY POWDER: This is a very handy powder to have in your ritual arsenal to help calm situations down and return a peaceful environment. It is a good smelling powder that traditionally has a soothing, quieting scent that helps invoke calmness, gentle thoughts, and tranquility.

PLANETARY SACHET POWDERS the seven sacred planets (the five visible planets plus the Sun and Moon) relate to the days of the week and also planetary hours within days and seven sacred planets were associated with ancient Gods and Goddesses. The use then of these planets and their hours has an ancient history in Witchcraft and Paganism. These powders help invoke the powers and characteristics of the individual planetary power. You can use these powders to draw ritual symbols; dress ritual tools; dust on candles, papers, letters, or your Book of Shadows; or wear them as a personal scent to help convey the power of the deities represented by the Planets. They may also be combined with Zodiacal Sachet Powders when one is working an astrologically-based spell.

Vanderbilt Adds Pagan Sabbats to calendar

Vanderbilt Adds Pagan Sabbats to Calendar
By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide August 17, 2011

Vanderbilt University is the latest institution of higher learning to add Pagan sabbats to their calendar of religious holidays. This means that students who follow Wicca or other Pagan faiths may opt to take those dates off from class for religious observances. The school's Office of Religious Life recently sent professors a calendar of 2011-12 "religious holy days and observances" and a related policy on student absences. Four Pagan sabbats were included in the calendar, including Beltane and Samhain.

Interestingly, the policy appears to state that while students "must be excused from classes and other academic activities on days when their religious traditions put restrictions on labor or forbid it outright," professors or department chairs can opt to excuse a student's absence if it's not work-restricted. In other words, even though there's no restriction on work or labor for Beltane, a student could still be excused from classes as long as he or she arranged it in advance with instructors.
