Notes:
Come along, have a picnic and meet those of like mind. It's a fun day of laughter, chatting and meeting new people.

The park is beautiful, it's next to the lake with a playground for the kids and toilet facilities including a disabled toilet.

Coffee and tea are available (gold coin donation appreciated). Bring along a picnic lunch or if you wish to cook up a feast use the BBQ facilities. But if cooking is not on your agenda, there are shops within walking distance.

Just look out for the colourful marquee and banner. Even if it's raining, Pagans in the Park is still on, we'll be sitting under the large undercover area at the front of the park.

We have a "Topic of Discussion" for each of these gatherings. These are informal "talks" that start at 1pm and, while we may begin the conversation, we look forward to hearing everyone's opinions and takes on the topics – just bring an open mind!!!

Hi Hawthorn and Seline,

There's an old saying about "eggs in a basket". I certain use
Facebook, but a significant number of members of this particular
eGroup either specifically don't use it or else use Facebook in a
very different way to the way the Yahoo groups are utilised.

It is interesting to see how there has been a significant trend away
from eGroups. In the ADHD environment of Facebook I've yet to see
meaningful dialogue such as I see on Yahoo eGroups. If Facebook and
Twitter were people I'd describe their personality-behaviour profile
as "social-butterflies", as they flit from one coloured flower to
another.

You might say such behaviour has been designed into the Facebook/
Twitter DNA, but I think it is also a cultural influence that has
come principally from a North American city-based background. There
are certainly parts of the Australian Psyche that has been influenced
by this.

I raise these thoughts simply because in my experience I don't feel
Facebook by itself is a very effective mode of real communication. It
is however effective in the circulation the "headline news". Word
gets out quickly, sometimes immediately as it happens. The
WitchesWorkshop is certainly no dinosaur in the field of technology
and the net. In the early days of a simpler Internet of the late
1980s we even had a computer set-up at our annual "Eostre Gatherings"
offering participants their first encounter with live-reporting to
the world via the original "Ozpagan-network". Pre-World Wide Web was
populated by a lively and burgeoning Internet Pagan community.

vinum sabbati,
a reflective Tim 'ozpagan'

Hi Tim

Yep, I agree, that message was meant to go out to the people on the old Euphoria Hotmail account, (having so many contact lists is getting un-weildly. I forgot that the yahoo groups were also on that e-mail list.

We will most certainly continue to be a part of the Yahoo groups!

I have to admit that I regret this shift, as I find Facebook very unsatisfactory, except as a means of letting people know about various events.

LOL! Totally agree! I'm not on twitter, but I suppose I will have to go there eventually if I want to stay in the 'Loop"!

Yeah, I think its a kind of feed-back loop.

Yep, thats how we plan to use it. I have to admit that I haven't been very active on any of my Yahoo groups lately, but I'm still here and plan to stay, as I feel that these groups definetly provide a deeper form of communication that FB & Twitter.
