What types of Healing is out there, how do you get involved, learn, and how
do
you use it in your daily
lives?

Cher

us!

I have a passion for healing animals. So I would be an animal
healer, I guess, though I am often asked questions about people problems too.

I am able to look in an animals eyes, and tell what is wrong.
Last week my son found a Red Tailed Hawk. The Hawk was just sitting on the
ground, and did not try to get away. I was able to tell that the hawk had
fallen, hurt it's shoulder, and had been walking on the ground for 3 days. The
bird was starving to death. I fed the hawk for a week, got the shoulder injury
healed, and turned over to a Bird rehab yesterday, to learn to hunt. (The Hawk
was a baby just off the nest).

It wasn't until later (3 days after the Hawk was here) I found
out that the Hawk had spent a couple of nights in the neighbors barn, and he had
walked over half a mile to get to our house. Being scared of the bird, they had
just called for help, but no one showed up. They did not feed him at all.

I don't know how I know these things, but when I look in their
eyes, I feel they talk to me, though I hear no words in my head. It's nice when
later on some one shows up, to confirms what you thought all along.

Get Ready for Litha!

Day 4: Litha Ritual and Ceremony
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
For most Pagans and Wiccans, Litha is cause for big celebration. It's the middle of summer, we're outside, and our gardens are chock-full of herbs, veggies, fruit and flowers. Naturally, it's a good excuse to have a big ritual! You can try any of these rituals to celebrate the season, or you can take a moment to honor the men in your life -- after all, Father's Day is in June as well. We'll also look at some Litha prayers, and you can submit your own to the site if you like!

Litha Prayers

At Litha, we celebrated the season of the sun. Incorporate one of these simple prayers into your celebration or ritual -- or share your own with other readers!

* A Garden Prayer
* Prayer for the Beach
* Fourth of July Prayer
* Prayer to Honor the Sun
* Share Your Litha Prayers

Litha Nature Meditation

Amergin was a leader of the Milesians, one of the ancient tribes that conquered Ireland around 1500 B.C.E., removing the Tuatha de Danaan from power. One of three Druids who spearheaded the takeover, Amergin is referred to as the First Druid of the Gaels in the Irish Book of Invasions. Thought to be the oldest poem in the Irish language, Amergin's song is lyrical and narrative, evocative of the strength and power of Ireland itself. There's a story that this song answers the question, "What is a Druid?" This meditation is based on the translation by Lady Gregory. Read More

Litha Fire Ritual

There are plenty of ways to celebrate the summer solstice, and many of them include fire. This Celtic-inspired ritual honors Midsummer as Alban Heruin, the longest day of the year. It's the time when the sun is most powerful, and new life has begun to grow within the earth. After today, the nights will once more begin to grow longer, and the sun will move further away in the sky. Try this rite alone, or with a group. Read More

Tool Recharging Ritual

At Litha, the sun is at its most powerful. Why not take advantage of that fiery solar energy, and recharge your magical tools? Try to hold this ceremony at noon, on the day of the summer solstice, if possible. Read More

Celebrating Dads

In many traditions of Wicca and Paganism, there is a great deal of focus on the Goddess. Sometimes, there's so much attention to the feminine that the masculine aspects get overlooked. By welcoming the God of your tradition, you can honor the men who have impacted your life -- whether they raised you, loved you, or are being brought up by you. This simple rite also offers your boys a chance to get out there and dance, and to celebrate the masculine within themselves. Read More

Tomorrow: Midsummer Magic

In tomorrow's lesson, we'll look at some of the magical customs associated with Litha -- from holy wells and stone circles to the mystical ley lines. We'll also talk about responsible wildcrafting, and how to create an elemental garden.

Egungun-Oya - In Yoruba mythology, Egungun-Oya is a goddess of divination. "Egungun" refers to the collective spirits of the ancestral dead; the Orisha "Oya" is seen as the mother of the Egun.

In Egba and Egbado area, as well as many parts of Yorubaland, Odun Egungun festivals are held in communities to commemorate the ancestors. Egungun masquerade are performed during these annual or biennial ceremonies as well as during specific funeral rites throughout the year. The masquerade is a multifaceted ceremony which includes the making of offerings as well as the honoring of ancestors for past and future aid.

Egungun performances organized for funerary purposes mark the death of important individuals. In this context, the masks reflect a creative response to death as a time of crisis involving mourning and loss. Elaborate performances serve to commemorate the dead through the remembrance of their past life while simultaneously reinforcing the relationship between the living and the recently deceased ancestor.

Among the broad range of themes incorporated in the Egungun masks are representations of numerous societal and cultural stereotypes as well as acrobatic images in which dancers turn their clothing inside out, in part to suggest the power and distance of the ancestral world. Entertaining satirical masks depicting animals and humans are performed during the masquerade and often serve as a social commentary on the life of the community.

National Gardening Exercise Day - Everyone knows gardening is therapeutic.  It's good for the mind, body, and soul. Gardening Exercise Day gives us an opportunity to go out and burn off calories and have fun doing it. National Gardening Exercise Day is intended to recognize the important physical health benefits of gardening. In reality, gardening is exercise. Experts say the various activities and tasks of gardening ultimately uses all of the major muscle groups. In addition, strenuous gardening activities such as raking, hoeing, and digging is both aerobic and muscle strengthening. Take time today to celebrate one of America's favorite hobbies. Go out and exercise with, and among, your plants.

Hunger Awareness Day (US National) - On this day, volunteers, churches, corporations, food banks and other organizations will come together to raise awareness about hunger and the acute situation that too many Americans face. See Web site: www.hungerday.org

OYA -   Oya is the powerful Yoruba Goddess of the Winds of Change; the Primeval Mother of Chaos; Queen of the Nine (for the nine tributaries of the Niger River). Using her machete, or sword of truth, she cuts through stagnation and clears the way for new growth. She does what needs to be done. She is the wild woman, the force of change; lightning, fire, tornadoes, earthquakes and storms of all kinds are ruled by Oya. She is also Queen of the Marketplace, a shrewd businesswoman and adept with horses. As the wind, she is the first breath and the last, the one who carries the spirits of the dead to the other world, which is why she is associated with cemeteries. The sculpture is after the Oya Shrine: Female Equestrian by Bamgboye, Odo-Owa, Ekiti region, mid 20th century. The heads on her necklace are from the same piece. by Sandra Stanton

World Environment Day Ritual

World Environment Day Ritual
The planet is a living organism. To send
your protective energies out to the environment, decorate your altar with a
green cloth, plants, and tree branches today. Burn a green candle that has been
anointed with myrrh and vetiver. Center yourself, and know that each of us is
connected to every animal and plant and stone on this planet. Imagine Mother
Gaia whole and healed. Breathe in the green scent from the candle, and consider
what you could do this day to promote the health of Mother Earth; any little
thing will help. When you are finished with your visualization go outdoors and
put into action what you have visualized. ~Lily Gardner-Butts

Brighten Your Space Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Brighten Your Space Spell

We are often forced to spend a great
deal of our day in an environment other than our home. To keep that space
filled with positive energy, create an amulet. To start, sprinkle a cotton ball
with orange and lemon oils, and place it in the center of a small square of
bright fabric—whatever appeals to you. Sprinkle dried basil, cloves, and
crushed frankincense resin over the cotton. Add some small stones, such as
tiger's eye, carnelian, pyrite, or citrine. Surround the fabric with a
circle of candles, making sure they're not too close to each other, and
allow the candles to burn out. When finished, pull up the sides of the fabric
and tie it up with gold string. Use more string to hang the bundle and brighten
your surroundings. ~Ember

Serbian Song To The Goddess

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Jun 5, 2011 8:50 pm (PDT)

Think of a sapling growing in the morning sun.
Think of its strength: that is the Goddess.
Think of corn silk: that is her hair.
Think of matched jewels: those are her eyes.
Think of swan's wings: her hands.
Think of grey doves: her breasts.
Think of how sweet pigeons coo:
now you are hearing the voice of the Goddess.
~Serbian Song To The Goddess

As in so many lands, we find in Serbian literature many poems praising the beauty of the Goddess. Such poems praise as well the beauty of nature, for the goddess is part of - perhaps the sum of - the natural world. In the birds and plants and animals and mountains and oceans that are our planetary mother creates, we see a reflection of all that she is. Yet nature, plentiful and prolific, is beyond all that we witness, ceaselessly producing new creatures, inventing and creating with a power that far exceeds our ability to comprehend it.

How can we not take care of the earth? Each action we take affects the planet that gave us life and sustains that life. If we actually look at the world for one day, seeing its myriad beauties, how could we ever injure her again?
