Hey, they're posting what he said and what his followers are doing, with NO
editing. And don't call me honey. You've not earned that right. If you
choose not to see what he's saying for what it actually is, HONEY, that's
not my problem. He was a freaking basket case when he was playing neo-pop
on the local FM station near my house, then he conned them into a slot on
the AM talk side and went further bat crap crazy. Facts are facts and the
facts are that several people have tried to or succeeded in committing
crimes, ACTUAL CRIMES, because Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Bernard Goldberg, et
al, have said that someone needs to be neutralized. Mrs. Piven wrote the
article Beck has his panties in a bunch over FOUR DECADES AGO. Want some
examples?

A man was stopped and got into a fire fight with police while he was on his
way to assassinate people at the Tides Foundation. He was a regular
listener to Glenn Beck at one of the points where Beck ranted and raved and
freaked out about the Tides Foundation. Here's a story from CBS news...

Another man ADMITTED he shot up a UU church in Tennessee because he had
taken his cue from Bernard Goldberg when he appeared on Bill O'Reilly... from
CNN

Seriously, one of these days, someone's going to get killed because of the
violent talk from the Right.

Oh, wait, IT ALREADY HAS!

As I tweeted, Beck should spout his venom at me. That 78-year-old woman may
not want to bring down our economic system, but I damn well do!

^5 Laurel.

I WANT my government bigger than my banks, to keep the banks from ripping
me off, then making me foot the bill through my tax dollars, while they
stick my investment dollars away in offshore banks as part of their bonuses. I
WANT my government to tell Big Oil that they MUST spend half a million
bucks on a better kill switch for deep water drilling, like ALL other coastal
nations do. Half a million dollars is NOTHING to BP. Tony Hayward
probably pissed more away on yachting outfits for himself last year. I want my
government to tell Massey Energy that they MUST adhere to strict safety
guidelines to protect miners and the surrounding environment. I want my
government to forbid mountaintop removal mining, where they just toss the crushed
top of a coal rich mountain over the side and into the DRINKING WATER. I
am so sick of being told that the super wealthy deserve to pay less in
taxes that my retired school teacher mother-in-law or my mother who is an
office manager for a small office, who hasn't gotten a raise in 9 years because
her boss can't afford to both give raises and pay health insurance premiums
for his workers. He chooses to pay for the premiums, but would love to
ALSO raise pay. Under the new health insurance law, he can now get a
deduction for those premiums. WE spend our money, the super rich don't. The
facts are out there, the statistics exist. Glenn Beck needs to be medicated.

I'm done with the person who demanded all this evidence about Beck, yet
criticized it when it was given. I'm done with this thread on this board,
because we've been asked to stop. This is my last word on the topic.

I wholeheartedly second EVERYTHING you said. I loathe the super rich, and
yes, I loathe capitalism. I'm not a communist either; I'm a green. I was
physically abused as a kid because my father was treated like crap in his
job; his boss went to Aruba, and I paid for the boss's crimes. What I meant
was that if Glenn Beck thinks this 78-year-old woman is a threat to the
current economic system, he should meet me. I am Beck's worst nightmare.
Whether or not this woman wants to bring the system down, I do. It is rotten
from the inside out, and there is nothing about it worth saving.

The whole concept of super rich is toxic to this planet and has to go.

Who says astrology doesn't work?

Look up Uranus-Pluto conjunction in opposition to Saturn-Chiron conjunction,
both angular and making squares to a whole bunch of other planets, in the
natal chart. You will find the birth chart of a revolutionary.

I find this nostalgic and comforting.
Iff, I believed in the conservative-liberal myth, which I don't, I'd keep a scorecard of uncivil remarks and requests for "moderator action" on these lists.
I wonder if my position would be supported or not, being: That taking a liberal position is one of the descriptors of the "truly pagan". Or more pointedly, the Craft is being used as a cat's paw, or an arm of the DNC's machine.

conservatives are grossly outnumbered, and a lot of those who are
conservative pagans are afraid to speak out because there is some
ostricisation (I so just made that word up) when I came back after actually
leaving the craft because of this, I vowed I'm not going to keep silent.
Judging by the emails I get sent to my personal email account when something
like this comes up it seems more conservative is a growing trend.

Some are more equal than others, Right Don?
Baaaaaaaaaah!
Did you deliberately propose a double standard in this post? But this is the same Don who writes about his whimsically non historical matriarchal societies that existed in a fictitious ancient world. Give your audience credit for having read a little before meeting you man. We didn't appear in an intellectual void. This ain't the 60's no more.
G><><

Cher and the other moderators:

Since when did this become a political site. And when did the statement in the home page of this list, " We don't discriminate against anyones beliefs," become null and void.

From what I understand this person had been moderated on other lists for her argumentative attitude and statements. It seem that she should be moderated here.

Like I said in an earlier post, "Lets get back to what this list was intended for."

B*B, Don

Well, speaking only for myself (and knowing some close personal friends
who agree with me), I believe the values of the 60s are not for one decade;
they are eternal. People and movements have espoused those values over
centuries and millennia, and it is a fallacy to think they belong only to
one decade.

That doesn't mean 60s values are right for everybody or that they are the
"only way" to do things. One person's meat is another person's poison. For
me, the values of the 60s are the lifeblood that keep me going, and I would
do the Joan of Arc thing in that I would rather die than denounce my
beliefs.

I do own a lot of tie dye clothing. On an AOL fashion site, the author wrote
something about "how to look haute, not hippie." I commented that I much
rather would look hippie and also emphasized how I plan to keep my long hair
the rest of my life.

irritate me and it's long enough to donate to locks of love so I think I

Today's Goddess: CERES Roman Planting Festival (Rome)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jan 26, 2011 8:08 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess: CERES
Roman Planting Festival (Rome)

Themes: Fertility; Earth; Harvest; Growth

Symbols: Grains (especially corn); Poppies; Bread

About Ceres: Ceres, the Roman Goddess of corn, returns our attention to the land today to begin preparing for spring's
crop plantings. At the same time, Ceres reminds us to plant some figurative seeds of character now so they will mature throughout the year. Cere's name translates as "create." Ceres is truly the creator and mistress of our morning feast table, having lent her name to modern breakfast cereals, which shows her affiliation with essential food crops.

To Do Today: For growing energy and earth awareness, eat any grain-based food today. Ideal choices include, corn bread, corn flakes, puffed wheat, buttered corn, or corn chowder.

If you're a gardener, or even if you just enjoy a few houseplants, today is the perfect time to tend to the soil. The Romans took time out from their other duties and spent an entire week around this date blessing the land. They invoked Ceres as the essential vegetable spirit for aid after the seeds were laid into the ground.

While we may not be able to spend all week long doing likewise, a few minutes of caring for the earth is well worth the time. Put any seeds you plan to plant on an altar or in another visual spot. Visualize a yellow-golden light filling and fertilizing them. Leave them here to absorb Ceres's energy until your traditional planting season begins.

Aquarian World Healing Ritual
Incense of the day: Carnation

In honor of the sign of Aquarius, drape your altar in purple or put out an amethyst stone. Though an air sign, Aquarius is also the water-bearer.
Place a small pitcher or goblet of water on your altar as well. Aquarius is the sign of the humanitarian. Today, let your spell be for world
healing:

Let there be harmony in the world. Let there be loving intent. May all our
hearts be lifted to healing the wounds of Mother Earth and of her
people. Father Sky, please send your blessings to us today.

Ask yourself what one act you can perform to show your commitment to world
healing. Then do it. Also, wear something purple today to reinforce your commitment.

An Inch Will Do Spell

An Inch Will Do Spell
.
When I was young, I never felt satisfied just making a snowman. I made snow men, women, children, gods, goddesses,
and fantastic beasts of all shapes and kinds. If you live in a cold climate, and especially if you have children, you should
make the effort now to go play in the snow. Build a fort, throw snowballs, make sculptures. Enjoy the winter wonderland.

To make a snow god, first build a snowman and then put branches on his head for antlers. A snow goddess gets a crown
of icicles. Big icicles make terrific unicorn or dragon horns. You can "paint" snow sculptures by diluting food dye in water and spraying this on to the snow. If you have not received any snow, try saying:

Spirits of the snow,
we sing to you.
Send us your blessings, – an inch or two will do.

Homeric Hymn to Demeter

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jan 26, 2011 8:12 pm (PST)

Wherever the Goddess was, beauty was.
Beauty flowed from her like water,
like the light blue gown she wore, the gown
that carried the sweet smell of her presence
that hung as heavy as incense in the air.
Beauty flowed from her, like her thick gold hair
that spread out over her broad shoulders,
beauty flowed out from her like light,
radiating the brightness of lightning,
beauty blazing through the world,
wherever the goddess was.
~Homeric Hymn to Demeter

The beauty of the goddess is legendary. Songs, poems and prayers all praise her beauty. But hers is different than what we call beauty today. It more resembles what could be called radiance - a glowing sense of self, a shining smile, bright eyes, a honey-warm voice. These are the beauties of the goddess.

Today we measure and weigh beauty as though it can be found in numbers. But no ruler and no scale can measure the intesity of love, nor joy's delight. We do not need to know how old the goddess is, how tall, how light or heavy. We cannot trap the goddess in such ways. If we were to specify the perfection, the exact type of beauty, that we sought from her, we would limit her to our merely human imaginings. Her beauty is more, much more, than the merely physical. It is the transcendent power of love, which in its radiance transforms even the most ordinary features.
