My heart goes out to all affected in the flooding in Brisbane, Toowoomba and everywhere in between. I was born in, stay and travel often through these areas and am heart-broken to know how much has been effected. These are some truly magical landscapes and townships I have spent time in and bonded with over my lifetime.
While I have my own heartache to contend with the recent death of my grandfather in Toowoomba, I will not be able to lay him to rest until I can get there. We are holding our breath to the state of his property with no-one to watch it. The rest of my family in Gympie are waiting it out bravely.
As I grieve I cannot help grieving for all who have lost their lives and livelihoods in this astonishing and tragic event. Yes these areas flood just like the Dandenongs are fire-prone, but that doesn't mean this flood isn't extraordinary all the same.
