What types of Healing is out there, how do you get involved, learn, and how
do
you use it in your daily lives?

Cher
New_Jersey_Pagans.New_Jersey_Pagans.<WBR>..Come

I have a passion for healing animals. So I would be an animal healer, I
guess, though I am often asked questions about people problems too.

I am able to look in an animals eyes, and tell what is wrong. Last week my
son found a Red Tailed Hawk. The Hawk was just sitting on the ground, and
did not try to get away. I was able to tell that the hawk had fallen, hurt
it's shoulder, and had been walking on the ground for 3 days. The bird was
starving to death. I fed the hawk for a week, got the shoulder injury
healed, and turned over to a Bird rehab yesterday, to learn to hunt. (The Hawk
was a baby just off the nest).

It wasn't until later (3 days after the Hawk was here) I found out that
the Hawk had spent a couple of nights in the neighbors barn, and he had
walked over half a mile to get to our house. Being scared of the bird, they had
just called for help, but no one showed up. They did not feed him at all.

I don't know how I know these things, but when I look in their eyes, I
feel they talk to me, though I hear no words in my head. It's nice when later
on some one shows up, to confirms what you thought all along.

Today's Goddess: Charila Pharmakos (Greece)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jun 2, 2011 7:33 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: Charila
Pharmakos (Greece)

Themes: Cleansing; Fertility; Luck; Protection; Providence; Kindness
Symbols: Leeks; Onions; Grain; Honey Cake

About Charila: Charila comes to our aid when there is a famine, a drought, or
some kind of abuse, be it in the earth or in our spirits. Greek mythology tells
us that Charila was a young girl who approached a king seeking food. The king
was angered and slapped her. Charila hung herself in disgrace, but not without
some notice by the Delphic oracle. The prophetess told the king to change his
unsympathetic ways and make offerings to Charila to appease her spirit. Some
traditional offerings for her include honey cakes and grains.

To Do Today: During this observance in Greece, a criminal representing the
community was ritually driven out of the city with leeks and onions rather than
being executed. This act of mercy propitiated Charila, cleansed the city of its
"sins," and ensured continuing good fortune for the region. This also brought
fertility, onions being an aphrodisiac. So, whether you need Charila's luck,
productivity, forgiveness, or protection, definitely add onions and leeks to the
menu (followed by a hefty dose of breath mints)!

To draw Charila's kindness or good fortune to your home, take a handful of any
type of grain and sprinkle it on the walkway near your living space, saying,

Follow me, wherever I roam, and let tenderness and luck fill my home!

A Sweet Woodruff Spell for Prosperity

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

A Sweet Woodruff Spell for Prosperity
. At dusk in my woodland garden, sweet woodruff sends out its fresh haylike
scent, and its white flowers glow in the June twilight. In June, sweet woodruff
reaches the height of its magical power, and is valuable in attracting
prosperity. The prosperity spell which follows should be concluded next month,
beneath July’s Blessing Moon. On a June evening, just before nightfall, gather
some woodruff flowers, leaves, and stems. Cut them all, and put them in a
darkened room to dry on a hook or beam. When July’s Moon is at its height, and
the woodruff has dried, bury it with a dollar and a copper coin. Now, with what
you’ve sown your wealth will increase. By: James Kambos

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Lavender Bath Bombs

Daily Aromatherapy Tip- Lavender Bath Bombs

Lavender essential oil is reassuring, soporific, and is often ther first choice
of aromatherapists for treating emotional or mental stress. It also reduces
muscular pain, whether from illness or physical exertion, and soothes the skin.
I can't think of a more perfect herb for a relaxing bath.

Ingredients for a lavender bath treatment:

4 cups epsom salts
2 cups Sea salt
1 cup non fat powdered milk
2 cups oatmeal ground to a very fine powder in a food processor or
coffee grinder-use the old fashioned kind
40 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix together all the dry ingredients in a large bowl, sieve if you
wish, then add the lavender 10 drops at a time, thoroughly mix it
through. Do this 4 times, so that the lavender essential oil is distributed.

I then put the mix in glass jars and put a pretty sticker on the jar
with all the ingredients and the date when I made it.

Get Ready for Litha!

Day 1: Introduction to Litha
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
Litha is a time to celebrate the power of the sun during the middle of summer.
The sun is at its highest point in the sky, and Litha is the longest day of the
year. At this time of warmth and light, gardens are in full bloom, crops are
beginning to flourish, and the planet teems with abundant life. In this
Seven-Day Sabbat course, we'll talk about the history of Litha, ways you can
mark the Midsummer Sabbat with rites and rituals, some Litha magic, legends and
folklore, craft projects, and even recipe ideas for your Litha celebration.

Let's begin by looking at when Litha actually takes place, as well as some of
the history of this sunny summer holiday! We'll also discuss ideas for your
Litha altar, and you can view photos of other readers' altars as well.

When is Litha 2010?

Although Litha is celebrated in June if you're above the equator, in the
Southern Hemisphere it's observed at a different time of year. Read on to find
out when Litha falls in your part of the world... Read More

Litha History

Litha celebrates the summer solstice, and has a long history. This festival is
celebrated with sun worship, bonfires, and lots of magical solar energy. The
Saxons, the ancient Romans, and the Celts are just a few of the early cultures
that marked this important season with celebrations. Learn about how they
observed the longest and brightest day of the year...Litha History

Your Litha Altar
Setting Up Your Altar

DailyOM - Poetry as Meditation
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

June 2, 2011
Composing Bliss
Poetry as Meditation
Sculpting your thoughts into a poem can take you on a journey where your
conscious mind is momentarily cast adrift.

The creation of any kind of art can be as much a form of meditation as a vehicle
for self-expression. Energetically splashing colors of paint onto a canvas can
be like casting the weight of the world off your shoulders, while raising your
voice to hit the high notes of a song can inspire you to release your fears so
you can reach new heights in your own life. And then there is the act of
meditation that can take place when you create poetry. Sculpting your thoughts
and emotions into a poem can take you on a journey into your inner universe
where your conscious mind is momentarily cast adrift.

Like other forms of meditation, writing poetry requires that you stay fully
present during the process, rather than focusing on any outcome. In doing so,
you release any inhibitions or ideas of “what needs to happen,” so that your
thoughts can flow freely through you. When you write poetry, you are able to see
the reflections of your innermost self imprinted on a page.

If you’d like to experience poetry as a meditation practice, you might want to
try this exercise: Set aside twenty minutes where you can be alone in a quiet
space. You may want to look at poems other people have written to see if there
is a style of poetry you would like to try. You can also try writing in
freeform. The structure of the poem will then organically reveal itself to you.
When you are ready, sit down with pen and paper and let the words flow. Don’t
think about what you are going to say next, and don’t worry about spelling,
grammar, or logic. Instead, be as descriptive, visually precise, rhythmic, or
lyrical as you want to be. When you feel complete, put the pen down, and read
over what you’ve written. Appreciate this work of art you have created. You may
even find that thoughts and emotions you had repressed before are now making
themselves known so you can process and release them. Writing poetry as a form
of meditation lets you slow down your mind long enough! for you to get out of
your own way, so that your soul can freely express its deepest yearnings.
