Labor Day

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

RANDOM TIDBITS

Some records show that Peter J. McGuire, a Carpenters and Joiners Union secretary, was the first to propose a day to honor workers. However, others believe that it was Matthew Maguire, a machinist in Paterson, N.J., who proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York.

Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of September every year since President Grover Cleveland declared that day Labor Day in 1894.

In many countries, Labor Day is celebrated as May Day or International Workers Day (May 1), which was originally spawned by Europe's proletariat movement.

The form that the observance and celebration of Labor Day should take were outlined in the first proposal of the holiday — a street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families.

Oregon was the first, then Colorado, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey followed as the first states to declare Labor Day a state holiday.

The first Labor Day celebration in the United States can be traced to New York City's Union Square on Sept. 5, 1882. It was designed as a way to appease city workers after numerous strikes and in some cases even violence.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for September 5

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Monday, September 5

Happy Labor Day to all who celebrate that holiday in the United States! By the time you read this, though, I'm sure you will have already packed up the car, and are leaving your leisurely weekend behind. As the cost of air travel skyrockets and more of us are taking vacations by car, we should know some of the basics of backseat Feng Shui to save the driving day. First, don't leave clutter anywhere in the car. Treat your car as you would your home and realize that clutter can stink up your whole life. Speaking of scents, adding ten drops of lemon essential oil to a spray bottle filled with distilled water and spritzing the car's interior will help with those mildew odors from wet towels that never made it into the laundry. This odor squelcher will bring a bright and sunshiny scent to your driving experience as well. Lastly, hanging a round, faceted clear quartz crystal on a red string or ribbon from your rearview mirror will help pump positive energies inside the car while al so fueling a circle of cosmic support and invisible protection all around you. Using one or all of these Feng Shui advisos might even cut down on the inevitable 'are we there yet' questions.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Hogwarts Takes Title of "Best Onscreen School of All Time"

Hogwarts takes title of 'best on screen school' of all time
Sep 1 2011
HOGWARTS has topped the league tables - as the all-time best screen school.
Fans clearly preferred lessons in witchcraft and wizardry to more traditional classes in maths and English, edging ahead of Grease's Rydell High and Shermer High from The Breakfast Club.
The Harry Potter school picked up 45% of the votes in the poll for streaming and DVD rental service Lovefilm.
More than 1500 film fans gave their choices, ahead of the start of the autumn school term.
Fans said goodbye to Hogwarts this year as the final Harry Potter instalment, The Deathly Hallows Part 2, was released in cinemas to become the third highest grossing film of all time.
Also highly ranked were institutions from Jack Black's comedy hit School Of Rock and TV's Saved By The Bell.
Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley said she was pleased to see some of the older films landing a place in the table: "It is great to see some nostalgia creeping into the list, with schools from the 80s and 90s."
Top 10 on-screen schools:
1. Hogwarts (Harry Potter series)
2. Rydell High (Grease)
3. Sunnydale High (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)
4. Shermer High (The Breakfast Club)
5. Bayside High (Saved By The Bell)
6. Horace Green (School Of Rock)
7. Padua Stadium High (10 Things I Hate About You)
8. William McKinkley High (Glee)
9. Westerberg High (Heathers)
10. New York City High School for the Performing Arts (Fame)

I honestly recommend either leaving the teacher, for you're dishonoring him by skipping ahead and not wanting to wait for information for which you may not be prepared to use, or waiting patiently. Part of the dedication process prior to initiation is to demonstrate that you CAN wait and you can put in the work needed to advance in training.

It doesn't hurt to ask questions; after all, curiosity is a good thing. There is no need for a priest/priestess to make a dedicant feel subservient. It has nothing to do with respect, but smacks of a power trip to me.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Releasing Judgment--Snake Spirit Communication

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Releasing Judgment--Snake Spirit Communication
Adapted from Animal Voices, by Dawn Baumann Brunke (Inner Traditions, 2002).

Animal communicator Dawn Brunke offers this wisdom about releasing judgment, from a conversation she telecommunicated with a snake!
Learn more about what Snake-energy offers us, and what snakes have agreed to come here to teach us. Hear the voice of Snake, here:

"We come into this world for a variety of reasons. On the one hand, we are
not meant to be caged or treated as pets. However, some of us come consciously to work with humans and, at this time, many are willing to live in the glass house in order to work on relationship issues.

We have agreed as a species to take on some "misunderstandings" from
humans. We cry out when we are killed for no reason other than just being who we are. We are often a reflection of hate in your culture: hate for the unknown and that which is beyond you in understanding. We embody--as well as represent--beginnings and endings, the continuous cycle. We work deeply in the human subconscious to help you connect with ancient and timeless memories. One of our tasks is to help you release judgment and open to the energy of Snake within. Snake energy is for awakening, connecting that which is most ancient with that which is most spiritual. Snakes exist in all aspects of your life--snake as caduceus; snake as symbol of royalty; snake representing sin, sexuality, the umbilical connection, and the cycle of beginnings and endings. Those who fear snakes often fear their own true nature. We work on a different level from animals such as dolphins, who have chosen an engaging form that most humans find appealing. Right now, we most often work with specific individuals to help open particular passageways in humanity at large. That is the nature of snakes at this time-- not to work with the many, but to initiate the few. There are reasons why we are associated with fear to some degree, for not everyone is ready for our kind of initiation. We send you blessings and hope you too will open more to our kind. There is much more to snakes than meets the eye." (Lady N's Note: My beautiful boa Stellamara has communicated with me on many occasions, with sadness, about the general negative perceptions of snakes, as with the Witches many people don't want to understand or accept).

Hi, sorry to hear you are not feeling well, first you should remore mucus forming foods from your diet:Dairy products, including yoghurt, eggs, grains, esp gluten rich such as wheat, oats, rye and barley, sugar, potatoes, turnips and other starchy root veggies.  Replace with fresh fruit and juices.  Some helpful herbs are echinacea, golden rod, golden seal, and marshmallow. Prepare an infusion using one part of each herb, and drink a cup every 2 hours.  Hope this helps.  Some of this info came from David Hoffmans book, holistic healing., hope it helps

I got a question. What herbs are good for enhancing (stimulating, etc.), nasal decongestant? I'm particularly interested in finding herbs that might help with a stuffed up head - nose ears and throat in particular. I have a couple ideas, but would definitely be grateful for some ideas!

I've been sick this last week. Too much MUCUS!

Blessed Be,

Merletta Rut

(P.S. I don't have insurance, and I don't have a family doctor, i.e., no money... I went to talk to a pharmacists - they are great at helping people in the community at no cost. However, I really want a grasp on what herbs would be useful. I've always had sinus problems, since... age 5!...)
