Cosmic Calendar September 30
Posted by: "LadyHawk_Jax" ladyhawk_jax@yahoo.com ladyhawk_jax
Fri Sep 30, 2011 5:28 am (PDT)
September 2011 is going to end more with a whimper than a bang on this Friday. The reason is that after four days of almost non-stop cosmic intensity and shenanigans, the universe has depleted its energy reserves. All that is left from the shadow side is a Moon-Mars contra-parallel (2:47AM PDT) and a relatively feeble Mercury-Jupiter 150-degree liaison (11:17AM PDT).
While both of these sky patterns carry a challenging astro-psychic demeanor, compared to what you have been dealing with in the last week you should be able to maneuver through this day with little trouble. Of course, adding some humility and taking a go-slow approach (particularly in communications and with travel plans) won't hurt.
The Moon continues its march through Scorpio - indicating that it is wise to learn more about esoteric philosophy, psychology, and the secret teachings of ancient civilizations. It may not surprise you that the celestial power-brokers toss in one more void lun ar cycle - perhaps to spook you a little from 7:19PM PDT to 9:43PM PDT. Complete old business during this 2+ hour twilight zone and leave the initiation of new, bold plans for the Moon's arrival in upbeat Sagittarius (9:43PM PDT).
Once the Moon enters Sagittarian territory, fun and games are back on the agenda. With the entire, upcoming weekend under the aegis of Sagittarius Moon, sports and outdoor adventures can certainly light your fire.
Love, Light and Abundant Blessings,
LadyHawk

Thank you for all the beautiful fall pictures. I love the colors of fall, but it is for such a short spell and I know that at least in my area, soon everything will be covered in snowy white.

I wish that was my case. The leaves don't start turning here (Florida) until maybe November or December. Then, it is cold for maybe January and February. Right now it is still in the 90s, and I am soooo ready for cool weather.

PLEASE TRIM MESSAGES
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Fri Sep 30, 2011 9:37 am (PDT)
PLEASE, PLEASE TRIM MESSAGES. If my instructions weren't clear enough in the previous email entitled "Please, Trim Your Messages," find a site on the Internet and learn how to do it. I'm not trying to be a bitch about it, but it only takes a moment and a bit of effort to do it. The people on Daiy Digest continue to complain about it, especially those emails containing pictures or illustrations. These people receive all the posts in one (or more) emails. For those on moderated status who don't do this, the mods have to display that e-mail, trim the message, and make sure it is okay to send through. This takes time. I want to keep the people on the list happy and user friendly. I understand this is extremely difficult from iphones and smartphones, but if you are using a PC, it isn't hard at all to do this. Please take this into consideration when you post.
The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Healing With Breath
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:51 pm (PDT)
Healing With Breath
The technique is based on an ancient Hindu technique, which the yogis practiced to attain miraculous powers. The same meditative principles can be used to cultivate extraordinary powers of self-healing. Here are the directions to this powerful 10-step self-healing meditation:
The author calls this technique "The Healing Triangle" because it involves three basic elements that are kept in a delicate state of balance at all times. The first element is our consciousness (our mind in meditation); the second is the breath; and the third is the particular symptom of illness we wish to heal.
This is how it is done:
You will need a matched pair of sponge-rubber balls that are a bit smaller and softer than a tennis ball.
1. Sit in a comfortable posture with one rubber ball in each hand, and meditate on your breath for five to ten minutes to establish a good state of
meditative consciousness.
2. Next, do enough rounds of gentle rapid breathing to be sure that your breath is open and flowing.
Note: Gentle-rapid breathing is to first pant like a dog, having in-breaths and out-breaths well-matched. Next, do the same thing and close your mouth and "pant" through your nostrils instead.
3. Once your breath is moving freely, keep watching your breath and use your consciousness like a radar beam. Slowly scan your body looking for symptoms of distress.
4. As you scan the inside of your body, you might come across any number of symptoms.
5. Work first with the symptom that is calling the loudest for your attention.
6. Without losing track of your breath, focus your attention on the most intense part of the pain or tension, then squeeze your rubber balls firmly
enough to match its intensity. This will bring your breathing tensions into synch with the tension. On the very next inhalation, you'll find yourself breathing directly into the knot.
7. Keep the same steady pressure on the balls to keep the compression of your breath in synch with the tension you feel, and then do about five to ten seconds of gentle rapid breathing directly into the knot. This will weaken the energy blocks surrounding the knot and bring concentrated waves of healing prana directly into the tissues that feel dis-eased. Within seconds, the knot will begin to feel a bit softer and the pain will diminish noticeably.
8. Still watching your breath, allow these change to run their course for a full minute. At the end of this assimilation period, change the pressure on the balls to match the new feelings of pain or tension. Then do another round of gentle rapid breathing.
9. Each time you repeat this cycle, the pain and tension will grow increasingly weak, until the tension finally disappears. As the knot in your stomach begins to fade away, subtler symptoms of distress will begin to reveal their presence.
10. Whatever form these newly emerging disturbances take--feelings of irritation, pressure, burning, or anything else--treat them the same way as you did the original feelings of pain or tension; repeat the process.
The feelings of release and relief will gradually move from one symptom to another, as if playing a slow-motion game of "healing tag."
The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Relaxation to Sleep Meditation
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:52 pm (PDT)
Relaxation to Sleep Meditation
This is a simple meditation that can help you fall asleep at bedtime or fall back to sleep if you awaken through the night. It works better than you may think.
How to Practice:
1. Remind yourself that you are in bed to sleep and that any worries you have can wait until tomorrow.
2. Find a comfortable position in bed.
3. Take a deep breath and let it out. Sigh like this once or twice.
4. Bring your attention to your upper back near your shoulders.
5. Notice any physical sensations here: the feeling of your pajamas or bedding against the skin, winges, tingles, heat or cool. Try not to invest any energy in a story about these sensations. It's not about why there may be a tingle there.
It's about noticing the tingle alone. If you have trouble noticing anything, shift your shoulders just enough that you can get a sense of what that upper back area feels like, then sigh softly and settle back to notice.
6. Scan the whole upper back area. Notice how some sensations change as you watch them. Notice how some stay the same. Notice the areas where there seems to be no sensations at all. Let your drowsy self notice.
7. If your thoughts wander, sleepily remind yourself what you were doing and gently come back to the sensations in your upper back. Allow yourself the comfort of the bed.
Allow your attention to get lazy. Let your awareness driftalong the area of the upper back.
8. In time, you will start to nod off. Let it go and let yourself sleep.
Notes: Having trouble sleeping can often be about worried thoughts. This meditation helps not just to distract your mind but to bring your mind back into your body.
The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Letting Go of the Past
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:54 pm (PDT)
Letting Go of the Past
You will need:
A black box
paper
sea salt
nine garlic cloves
black ribbon
Write on the paper what you need to let go of then put it in the box
with the salt and garlic on top. Focus on your sadness, if you cry, let
your tears fall in the box. When you are ready put the lid on and wrap
the ribbon around it tying off with nine knots. As you do this say
"Good-bye to the past that dwells here. Then bury the box at
least three feet under a tree (first asking for the tree's permission --
it's life force will transform the negativity in the box so that it will
never affect you again). When you are finished, walk away without
looking back.

Cauldron Spirit
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:57 pm (PDT)
Cauldron Spirit
Many Witches pour a bit of ordinary surgical spirit [rubbing alcohol] into their cast-iron cauldrons and light it by carefully dropping in a lit match. This is often done as part of a healing ritual, invocations to the elemental spirit of Fire, Scrying divinations, Sabbat fire festivals, and various working rituals. The sight of the cauldron blazing with flames can be very magical and mesmerizing, and when the alcohol has been steeped in aromatic herbs, a sweet, but gently, incense like fragrance is produced.
To make an herbal "Cauldron Spirit", put into a glass bottle a small bunch of any of all of the following: fresh lavender flowers and leaves, fresh mint leaves, fresh rosemary flowers and leaves, or fresh thyme flowers and leaves. Fill the bottle to the top with the alcohol; cap it tightly, and then give it a good shake. Keep it in a cool dry place for thirteen days, shaking it twice daily [every sunrise and every moonrise]. Strain through a double thickness of muslin into a clear bottle, cap tightly, and store away from heat or flame. Cauldron spirit will keep indefinitely.

The Magic of Old Places

The Magic of Old Places
Here are some exercises that will greatly enrich some of your outings into old places or into the wilderness.
Houses and Buildings
There is a power and a strength to be drawn from things that are old.
Perhaps the veils between the dimensions are thin, or perhaps events long past have left an imprint and a charge on a piece of land or a building. It's the feeling we get when we walk through a semi-ruined ghost town in the West, or among the restored houses and shops of an Eastern Colonial village. In Britain and Europe the sensation comes even stronger and more often as we walk through castles, cathedrals, or houses that are several hundreds of years old and have known generations upon generations within their walls.
As you pass through an old, out-of-the-way place, preferably alone, take a while to get the feeling of the place as it was in times past. Look around you and consider that the walls, the windows, and the very paving-stones that are there now and that you are gazing at have been viewed in exactly the same way by others who lived a hundred years ago, two hundred, or more. Much more. Perhaps their feelings were the same as yours are now, and their own lives as immediate and vital as your own. Simply stand there and listen with your mind and your psychic senses.
Bear in mind that your impressions don't have to be totally accurate. We all interpret psychic and past-life impressions through our own personal frames of reference. The details might vary, but the basic meaning behind it all will be the same.
Let's say you're standing in front of an old abandoned house. Look at it and estimate its age. Look at the trees around it, and imagine them being much smaller and much younger. You might want to say something like the following:
In the name of the Gracious Lady
And the Lord of Life,
May only the good and the magical
Come to me while I am here.
And may I see and hear ever more clearly
The past of this place and those who once lived here.
Look at the dark windows, and imagine what they were like when a family gave the place a warmth and a life. Good times and bad, they will all be there, in the cracked walls and empty doorways. Go into the old house and pick up a piece of plaster, wood, or something else that has long been a part of the house. Hold it up to your forehead, and for a minute or more let yourself spontaneously sense psychically what is in the relic. Let your mind and thoughts freewheel, and grasp the impressions that you get. Sense the families, the scenes, the loves, the sorrows, and the joys. Feel and listen! Walk from room to room, touching, feeling, and sensing everything. Take your time as you put yourself more and more back into another time, another place, another century.
When you are finished and finally walk out of the house, you might want to say something like this:
I return, safe and secure
And locked firmly within
The here and the now.
I may return to the past,
Be it in this place or some other,
Though only when I so desire.
I may see much and experience much,
But only when I do desire.
And may the blessings of the Ancient Ones
Be on those who once lived here.
Blessed Be!
Take your time. Such experiences are to be savored.
Drawing The Power of the Past
Once you have been in and around an old, special place that has its own particular strength and vitality and that appeals to you greatly, try the following exercise to draw power and presence within yourself. Breathe in ten times slowly, saying:
I draw from all about myself
From this old and powerful place.
May the Lord and the Lady be with me,
So that only the good and the beautiful
May be with me.
Inhaling deeply, imagine that you are drawing in a strength and a power that has been accumulating in this place for decades or even centuries, pulling it in through every pore in your body and holding it there.
Feel yourself immersed in the past. Feel great strength building within every part of your body, renewing and regenerating your body.
Then hold the feeling of strength, wonder, and the feeling of the past within you as you say, in these or similar words:
I now look through space and through time,
Seeing and feeling and knowing
The times of the past, the people,
Their words, and their feelings
All the more clearly.
Breathe out ten times, imagining very clearly that you are leaving the past and letting it go from within you, but that the strength you have drawn within yourself is staying, and will always be with you. Imagine that you are exhaling this power out through every pore in your body, and sending it back into the old, unique place in which you stand. When you feel that you have given back all the power, say in these words or in similar ones:
My questing is now done.
I have known the power of time,
And have become far stronger thereby.
I ask the blessings of the Lady and the Lord,
And give them thanks.
Blessed Be!
Leave quietly and in your own time.

Joyful SImplicities for October

Joyful Simplicities for October
*Plan an outing to a pumpkin patch or farmers' market. Select the perfect jack-o'-lantern, but get an assortment of smaller pumpkins on which to carve different designs, like checkerboards, hearts, or the Moon and Stars. Pie Pumpkins are the perfect size for creating luminaries for steps or driveways, and the midget pumpkins make charming votive candle holders for dinner tables.
*Create a seasonal table. Set aside one small space on which to arrange an autumnal still life: wheat sheaves, pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, or bittersweet, with bouquets of dried flowers and preserved autumn leaves.
*Preserving autumn leaves was a favorite pastime for Victorian women. Select large branches, when the leaves have first turned their beautiful crimson, orange, and gold, and before they start to fall, just as you would flowers. Split the stems of your branches about three inches from the bottom; stand them in a bucket of warm water for several hours. If any leaves begin to curl, remove them. Prepare a solution of glycerine (available at pharmacies) and water by combining one part glycerine with two parts water. Bring the solution to a boil, simmer gently for ten minutes, and let it sit until completely cool. Cut the bottom of your stems at a very sharp angle and lightly hammer the ends; stand your branches in the mixture, storing your container in a cool, dark place until all the glycerine mixture has been absorbed (about a week to ten days). When you first notice tiny beads of glycerine forming on the leaves, remove the stems, wipe down the leaves with a damp paper towel, and dry thoroughly. Your leaves will stay beautiful and bright for several seasons.
*Pumpkins make very attractive natural vases for autumn bouquets. Scoop out the center as you would for a lantern and fill with a damp oasis (the floral sponge) cut to size. Arrange jewel-tone flowers, preserved leaves, and vines in the oasis for a long-lasting arrangement. Occasionally test the oasis to see if you need to add more water.
*Halloween (Samhain) is traditionally the night for fortunetelling. A delicious way to do this is with a Victorian fate cake. Make a spice cake and insert specially made silver charms into the batter after it is poured into the pan. When the cake is cut, the charms will reveal the future: the bell is a wedding, the thimble blesses the owner, the wishbone grants one wish; the coin promises prosperity; the horseshoe ensures good luck; and the button, domestic bliss. A set of English silver fate charms (which can be used again for Yule pudding, is available from the Seasons catalog. (1-800-776-9677).
*Dress up, or at least find yourself a wonderful mask to wear when opening the front door.
*This is the month to plant crocus, daffodils, and tulips outdoors for next spring's season of showing off.
*If you live in a four-season climate, take a Sunday drive in the country to revel in Mother Nature's flamboyant fancy dress. Pack a picnic. Linger as long as you can.
*Mull cider and/or wine on the weekends for an autumn cup of cheer, especially delightful after raking leaves! The best mulling spices I've ever found are the William-Sonoma brand, available from their shops and catalogue (1-800-541-2233).
