Tiamet,
I am soooo screwed. That link didn't work, however I got so frustrated that I left the lab. I cannot even draw an apple...lol, but for real i can't, yet. I am going to calm down and go back. I was wanting to get into fashion design, and this is a pre-req. Every time I do something the whole "thing" that I have created F#$@s up. I must have missed something early on! I do not know why I am asking...you just seem like a lifeline?
Brightest Blessings,

Adobe products are virtually the same, PC or Mac, you just have to remember that the command key on a Mac is the control key on a PC, and the option key on a Mac is the Alt key on a PC. With the pen tool, it's easier to make your starting point and then use the option/alt key to fine tune as you go along. example you want to crop out a leaf from a plant and it has a long curved shape. Make your 1st point and then the 2nd point goes on the leaf where it changes direction or straightens out. Now with your white arrow tool select your 1st point, you will see 2 toggles. Holding down your option/alt key select one of the toggles with the white arrow. you can now adjust the curve until it fits against the leaf. Do this with the other toggles and points until you are happy. Repeat these steps and soon you will have a perfect outline of your leaf or what ever you are working on.

Fw: [13Witches] I'm going to ask these question(s) again...

This divination technique is called augury and is ancient. I have enclosed some information. I found the best way to improve your abilities is to watch out for birds and natural phenomena around you and make copious notes. As with anything practise makes perfect.
Hope this helps.
Kiele
The Art Of Augury
Augury is oftem misdefined as being any type of divination using objects or beings who inhabit the natural world. This is not true. Each type of divination with natural phenomena has a name all its own. For example...
Apantomancy - Divination based on the sudden appearance of a creature in the wild.
Aeromancy - Divination based on wind patterns.
Austromancy - Divination based on sounds in nature.
Botanomancy - Divination based on the manipulation of specific plants and trees.
Capnomancy - Divination done by reading smoke patterns.
Chiromancy - A fancy name for palmistry.
Critomancy - A sortilege type of divination done by tossing and reading grain patterns.
Estrellomancy - Divination by reading shooting start or commet patterns.
Geomancy - Complex divination process using holes poked into freshly turned sand or earth.
Herbomancy - Divination using herbs and other plants.
Hippomancy - Divination done by examining the movements of wild horses.
Hydromancy - Any divination process using water.
Ichthyomancy - Divination using the movemnets or appearance of fish or fish entrails.
Lithomancy - Divination using gemstones or pieces of glass.
Margaritomancy - Divination done by tossing stones.
Meteoromancy - Divination using weather patterns.
Myomancy - Divination from the movement and appearance of rodents.
Nephelomancy - Divination by watching cloud shape movements.
Ololygmancy - Divination derived from the barking or howling patterns of wolves or dogs.
Ophiomancy - Divination by examining the trails left by passing serpents.
Ovomancy - Divination using eggs.
Pegomancy - Reading the patterns of bubbles in natural springs.
Pessomancy - Divination using the naturally occurring patterns on creek beds or river banks.
Pyromancy - Divination using fire.
Selenomancy - Divination using the appearance of the moon, named for Grecian Lunar Goddess Selena.
Spodomancy - Reading pattern of embers and falling logs in dying fires.
Zoomancy - General name for any divination using animals, principally mammals.
Augury as it is practised in witchcraft focuses on birds, a divination properly called Orinthomancy, and their activities and immediate appearance and relationship to their environment. This involves other "mancies" including aleuromancy which examines the packing pattern of birds and meteromancy, the reading of weather patterns. A knowledge of the magickal and divinatory meaning of trees and plants is also useful. Augury is documented from Roman times and was used in Anglo-celtic traditions both old and new. From Britain and Ireland, bird lore - particularly omens and portents came to the new world, where it is still common in the Appalachian and Ozark Mountain regions of the US.
In many mythologies we see characters shapeshifting or being transformed into birds after a magickal experience or battle. This usually indicates a shifting of body or conciousness from this world to the otherworld. This does not necessarily mean a physical death has taken place, but maybe interpreted as a shift to a higher level of conciousness.
Some auguries are dependent upon which trees a bird chooses to settle in, and a thorough study ofaugury requires at least a basic understanding of the magickal power of trees. For example, the bluebird has long been touted as a symbol of happiness, but what if you find one sitting in a yew tree? The Yew is poisonous and associated with negative magick and the otherworld. Does this mean your happiness is not firmaly settled yet, or that its foundation needs strengthening? Yet the Yew is the world tree in some societies. What about if the bird was in an Ash Tree, another world tree? Does this mean your joy is assured in all worlds? Or how about a hawthorn bush, the faery tree? Is this omen telling you you may need to seek out the elemental kingdom to find the key to your happiness?
The list that follows attempts to identify common birds and various meanings or omens they represent. Keep in mind that many of these birds have hundreds of sub-species around the world. The duck alone has over 200 noted sub-species, each with its own swimming, migration, behaviour and flight patterns.
Embarking on the study of Augury will take a full year and lots and lots of notes. Each time you see a bird in your environment or dreams and visions. Taking a year will help you gain a sense of which birds appear at which times of the year, which migrate elsewhere and which stay close to home.
Remember too, that your particular area or region will have birds native only to your area. These local birds can tell you much when you look to them for help, but you first have to establish what they mean by keeping that year long augury diary. When making your augury notes its good to include as much information as possible so that you have a complete picture of what was being shown to you. Consider including the following as a minimum...
Species
Sub-species
Gender if possible
Mannerisms
Colouring
Date and Day
Time of Day
Moon Phase
Weather
Where seen
Associated Dieties
Type of Roost
Meaning of Roosting Place
Flight Pattern
Flight Partners
Behaviour
Activity
Does species prey on other birds?
Does species mate for life?
Is species prolific?
Others of species nearby
Other birds nearby

Augury is a very old skill for the witch and any true witch would never ever dismiss it. Its something that all traditional witches seek - to be able to look at the weather, the birds and the trees and be able to make predictions from them.
Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate. The word is derived from the Greek phainomai (φαινομαι - to appear, come into view) and indicates that phenology has been principally concerned with the dates of first occurrence of biological events in their annual cycle. Examples include the date of emergence of leaves and flowers, the first flight of butterflies and the first appearance of migratory birds, the date of leaf colouring and fall in deciduous trees, the dates of egg-laying of birds and amphibia, or the timing of the developmental cycles of temperate-zone honey bee colonies. In the scientific literature on ecology, the term is used more generally to indicate the time frame for any seasonal biological phenomena, including the dates of last appearance (e.g., the seasonal phenology of a species may be from April through September).
Because many such phenomena are very sensitive to small variations in climate, especially to temperature, phenological records can be a useful proxy for temperature in historical climatology, especially in the study of climate change and global warming. For example, viticultural records of grape harvests in Europe have been used to reconstruct a record of summer growing season temperatures going back more than 500 years. In addition to providing a longer historical baseline than instrumental measurements, phenological observations also provides high temporal resolution of ongoing changes related to global warming.

Date Miner Virus

Greetings to the members. I wanted to let all of you know about a problem I encountered this past Tuesday.
I was searching for Halloween wallpapers and clicked on a site from a google search. A virus launched immediately and would not allow me to disable any programs or exit the site. My computer tech (my son-in-law Tim) was out of town and was unable to work on it even though he is my SystemAdmin. He spent all day today working on my computer, and told me it was a data miner that destroyed most of my programs and files. He had to put all the programs back on my computer, and told me to be careful about what sites I visit.
So, be careful about free sites, they nearly always come with a rice.

Elder's Meditation of the Day

Elder's Meditation of the Day
"It is a paradox in the contemporary world that in our desire for peace we must willingly give ourselves to struggle."
-- Linda Hogan, CHICKASAW
The Grandfathers have taught us about sacrifice. We have been taught to pray for the people in a pitiful way. Struggle and conflict is neither good nor bad, it just is. Everything that grows experiences conflict. When the deer is born it is through conflict. When the seed first grows, it is through conflict. Conflict precedes clarity. Everything has the seasons of growth. Recognize - acknowledge - forgive and change. All of these things are done through conflict.
Great Spirit, give me the courage today to see that struggle and conflict are here to teach me lessons that are a gift from you.

This Weeks Moonscopes Forecast for week of Sept. 25 to Oct. 1

This Week's Moonscopes Forecast
For the week of Sept. 25 to Oct. 1
(Missed last week's forecast? Here it is.)
Sunday(*v/c-pm), Monday(v/c): the Moon is in Virgo
There's not a lot going on with the Moon right now, so this would a good time to collect all the bits of pieces of things that might have been left over from last week and start a new list (or lists, if you are like me) for this week in order that those details be completed first. The Moon is void-of-course (check farther down on this page for information on v/c) for a big part of Sunday and all day on Monday, which adds to the idea of finishing up leftovers before heading on to something new. Virgo is an earth sign and these signs in general like to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment. Virgo is also all about lists of things that you can check off as they are completed. Usually the Moon cycle likes to see work done on pending projects before a New Moon and new projects initiated after a New Moon. The neat thing about these two days when the Moon is in Virgo right before the New Moon is that making those lists is just as good as finishing something. In fact, Virgo prefers working on organized lists and detailed plans of action to rushing around all over the place trying to get things done.
Tuesday(New Moon), Wednesday: the Moon is in Libra
Several planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus, & Saturn - all in Libra), (Mars, Uranus, Neptune, & Pluto - all in strong aspect signs) are connected with the Moon during the middle of this week. In contrast to what we had at the beginning of this week, now things are very busy indeed - astrologically speaking! Maintaining a balanced and equalized state of affairs will be called for. Getting along with others is also highlighted, especially if a significant other and/or a business partner are a regular part of your life.
Thursday, Friday: the Moon is in Scorpio
Things slow down a bit now, with only a couple of planets in strong connections (aspects) with the Moon. Time to think about winding up weekday activities and focusing on the weekend. It would be nice to spend Friday or Friday evening in seclusion or retreat mode. Regenerate (a Scorpio word), refuel, and replenish your being after the events of this week. Physical, mental, and emotional endeavors may have used up a lot of energy, so take some time to refill your reservoir of resources.
Saturday: the Moon is in Sagittarius
Just cut loose, 'get out of Dodge', or whatever phrase you would like to use - but by all means set yourself free from responsibility and have lots of fun at whatever you enjoy. Sagittarius likes to be on the move both physically and mentally, so whether you are action-oriented or intellect-oriented (or both), this weekend is a super time to devote some attention to the great spaces around your mind and body and what they have to offer.
Check your astrology chart to find which house (section of your chart) has the current Moon sign on the cusp (the beginning edge) & apply Forecast information to that area of your life as well.
For example, the Moon is in Leo and one of the suggestions is to entertain - however Leo is located in the 12th house of your chart, which is an inward energy place...then have a small, quiet gathering. By contrast, if Leo is located in the 1st house of your chart, an outward energy place...have a party! Don't have an astrology chart? Click here .
It is interesting to note when the current Moon is in the same sign as your birth Moon and to see how the flavor of that day carries through the following 30 days.
Current Planet Positions:
Sun - Libra, until Oct. 24
Mercury - Libra, until Oct. 13
Venus - Libra, until Oct. 9
Mars - Leo, until Nov. 11
Jupiter - Taurus, until June 12, 2012
Saturn - Libra, until Oct. 6, 2012
Uranus - Aries, until Mar. 6, 2019
(Taurus, May 16, 2018-Nov. 7, 2018)
Neptune - Aquarius, until Feb. 4, 2012
Pluto - Capricorn, until Nov. 20, 2024
Current Asteroid Positions:
Ceres - Pisces, until Jan. 20, 2012
Pallas - Aquarius, until Feb. 13, 2012
Juno - Libra, until Oct. 26
Vesta - Aquarius, until Dec. 21
Chiron - Pisces, until Apr. 22, 2018
Current Asteroid Transits:
Ceres - Harvest the core basics of spiritual beliefs or philosophies.
Pallas - A practical application of information is the best approach.
Juno - Protocol and social practices are highlighted.
Vesta - Personal desires are mixed together with personal responsibilities.
Chiron - Transcend wounds and negativity through compassion.
Note: Timeframes for Moon signs, void-of-course periods, and current planet & asteroid positions are noted for Eastern time zone (USA). Please adjust according to your own location. Times are not given if the void-of-course Moon occurs for a very short period or if it occurs during the night (based on same Eastern time zone).
* v/c = Void-of-Course - When the Moon is void-of-course, spend time working on projects already in progress, creative endeavors, or self-improvement. Void-of-course simply means that no planets are aspecting the Moon as it gets ready to change signs. It's best not to start new projects, sign important agreements, or go shopping when the Moon is void-of-course because the result will probably be unsatisfactory in some way.
** Mercury Retrograde - the speed of the planet slows down considerably. Communications, paperwork, electronics, and traffic can become very mixed-up or delayed during this time. A situation will be in the process of changing, so wait until Mercury is direct to finalize anything. In general, maintain a slower, more cautious pace in daily affairs. Always allow at least two days before (to slow down) and after (to resume regular activities) a Mercury retrograde period. Read More about Mercury Retrograde here

Birds of Omen and Auguries

Birds of Omen and Auguries
Animals and birds have long since been regarded in numerous cultural traditions throughout the world as having great significance as creatures of omen whose very arrival or appearance heralds a message of great portent. Birds in particular were considered the messengers of the Gods while some were even elevated to the role as deity such as the "Firebird" or Phoenix in China or the "Thunderbird" in Native American Indian Culture.
I am fortunate because I live near a large pond and often get the opportunity to come across various species of birds, but nevertheless I do have some strange encounters with these "messengers." One Summer's evening I was walking home when a large peacock appeared quite unexpectedly from behind a wall. I was totally amazed and had no idea how the bird had arrived there until a friend told me that they belonged to an Asian couple who lived nearby and often allowed them to roam free in the neighborhood.
I have known birds of omen to appear at significant periods in people's lives and therefore strongly believe in their magical properties. Interpretation: One can examine a single bird or flock and assess its portent by several factors for example the color of their plumage, the direction of flight and their seasonal activity.
Generally speaking bright colored birds suggest acting immediately, whilst darker species suggest waiting. Birds flying from the right indicate a smooth passage if confident action is undertaken. Birds flying from the left indicate patience, delay or suggest taking further advice on any matter. Birds that fly directly at you indicate happier times, whilst those flying away suggest the opposite. The higher the flight the more fortuitous the outcome of an inquiry especially if the flight goes vertical in which case this will occur sooner rather than later. If the flight is lower and more horizontal in approach then one needs to apply more effort, understanding and compromise if things are to succeed. A change in course suggests either inconsistent effort or unpredictable changes are likely to occur in one's affairs. If the bird hovers directly overhead be wary of those who may find cause to criticize you or examine your motives out of sheer envy.
The songs of birds have a special meaning also if the bird cries out before flight it is a sign to go ahead, if it calls when it lands it suggests caution is required and if silent in either case it means that things are badly aspected. If a dark bird cries shrieking and loudly it is a sign that conflict is likely and caution is recommended.
Crow Augury
The practice of Crow Augury has been around for centuries. It is about predicting the future by counting the number of crows present at significant times. Sometimes the direction of their flight is significant, or the time of day at which they are seen. Complex rules have been drawn up by some augurists, while simple rhymes are used by
others. The basic rhyme, which goes something like "One for Sorrow, Two for Joy..." has been a popular children's chant off and on through the years.
While 'Counting Crows' is a catchy phrase, crow augury may have started off as Magpie augury. The oldest rhymes, including at least one dating to the 1600's, deal with counting magpies rather than crows. The magpie rhyme seems to have been left on
European shores, though.
In North America, most people who know the rhyme use it in reference to crows. Various versions of the rhyme exist, but the basics are as follows:
One: Sorrow. An unhappy event. A change for the worse. Maybe loss or a death.
Two: Joy. A surprise. A change for the better. Sometimes the finding of something.
Three: Marriage. A celebration. Sometimes the birth of a female child. Othertimes some significant event around a daughter.
Four: Birth. Usually the birth of a male child. Sometimes a significant event surrounding a son.
Five: Silver. Something costly. Usually a positive transaction.
Six: Gold. Wealth. Sometimes money. Maybe greed. Occasionally a negative transaction.
Seven: Something of spiritual significance. Often a secret. In some cases witchcraft, or the performing of sacred rites.
Eight: Something profound. Death, dying, or a glimpse of Heaven. A life-altering journey or experience.
Nine: Something sensual. Passion, or forbidden delight. In some versions this is corruption, in others it is closer to temptation.
Ten: Something extreme. An overwhelming sensation. Something paid in full.
Eleven: Uncertainty. Waiting. Wanting. May be in relation to a spiritual matter.
Twelve: Fulfillment. Riches (though not always of a material sort). A fruitful labor. Something completed. An end to a problem, or the answer to a question."
I remember learning in school that the Romans did bird auguries; they had a templum, which originally didn´t mean a temple, but a certain area of sky they were watching; only the bird flight that they saw within that area was used for divination. I think that today we could substitute a window for the templum, so that we have a clearly defined area of the sky. And you don´t even have to go outside for birdwatching!

The Broom Purification
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:17 am (PDT)
THE BROOM PURIFICATION
Before dawn, take a branch from any tree. Thank the tree for its gift and
leave a coin or semiprecious stone at its base in payment.
Next, obtain several brightly colored flowers on long stalks. Tie these
flowers to the branch to fashion a sort of broom, then sweep the floor
in every room of the house, visualizing the flowers of the broom
absorbing negativity and "evil" as you work. Then, still before sunrise,
leave the broom at the crossroads'. Traditionally in the Southwest
United States and Mexico, this ritual is repeated at the first of each
month.
