When I was trying to put something like this together for myself, I used
some things that I gathered from dreams. The first was finding the face of
this internal critic and the second was my memory of a person being 'fired'.
To start what does this critic 'look like'? Are they a cross of so,e
employer you once had and your third grade teacher? Once you get the picture
of them in your head, draw them on a piece of paper, or make a collage of
the way they make you feel, or what I did, was sculpt them out of wax. The
idea is to get a physical image that both parts of the brain can relate to.

The second part comes from when I was a little girl (back before color TV -
lol) I couldn't understand the concept of someone being fired from a job.
The only fire that I knew about was the fire like on the end of a match. So
to be 'fired' meant to set someone on fire. (Okay, so its an extreme way to
leave a job - but I was really, really young.)

So I put the two together and 'fired' my internal critic. I gathered the
materials I was going to need then cast the circle before I started the
figure.

When it was finished, I made sure that this poppet wasn't connected to any
person, living or dead, whom I may have encountered in this or any
lifetimes.Then I told the wax figure that their services were no longer
required and why. Once I felt I had gotten all of that influence off my
chest, I set fire to it. After it was just a puddle of goo, I went into
meditation and hired a cheerleader/CEO who could look at things with a
critical eye without being mean. (I still need an occasional voice to tell
me that some "wonderful" idea that I have may not be in my best
self-interest.;) )
