We have what we refer to as "the imp". Usually manifests as a black cat we see out of the corner of our eye or feel brushing against our leg. I always assumed it took that form to blend or play with our physical cats. Had one in the last two places we lived that drove our roommate's dog crazy. Don't know if it's the same one following us or if each place had it's own.

Yes we have three. My Uncle Lloyd who died in Vietnam, a young male child named Bert, and a malevolent male spirit who I can always recognize by the scent of cigarettes (no one in my home smokes).

Sama,

We had negative spirits who came into my home along with my mentally unstable adult step-son. This poor sould is haunted in his dreams by a spirit who wears a wolfe mask and teaches children how to play "games" where tricks were played on the family and things were hidden or stolen. The dreams started when he was about 9 years old and the "Wolfe" is with him still at 27.

The spirit(s) were like a poltergeist. Things like washcloths would fall off of bathroom hooks - often times the hook would be torn down as well, paintings fell from the wall, and books fell from the shelf. There was a constant problem with strange noises both upstairs and down and things were often moved to weird locations as though to be hidden. Also during this time the shower curtain would develope unexplainable large black stains which were not mold.

The spirits stayed on after I sent my step-son to Texas as the Wolfe" was far from his only problem.

These spirits were removed by way of a cleansing ritual on them and a binding spell on the step-son. The binding spell has been in place now for over a year and there have been no issues.

My wife has a departed family member who visits from time to time. My wife had an aorta replacement surgery five months ago. Last weekend her grandmother patted her gently on the shoulder and whispered "I am still here..."

My mother also visits occasionally. You smell her powdery cologne and then she likes to reach out and ever so softly touch you. The first time she touched my ear I thought it was a fly a swatted her away. However, her unmistakable scent lengered and she evently returned.

So we have had both negative and positive experiences with spirits living in the house with us.

If anyone would like a copy of the cleansing rituals used and the spells which were cast, please do let me know.

Brightest Blessings,
Stormy )O(

An imp story... One night my husband and I woke up because our TV kicked on and was blaring. Very confused, he stumbled out into the living room and shut it off. A few minutes later, it turned on again. He shut it off again. Next morning, we found our car had been broken into. We've had this TV for years, and it's never done this before or since. Also, the remote we had at the time did not turn the TV off or on, it only affected volume, so it's impossible that one of our cats turned it on by stepping on the remote. Our interpretation is the imp was trying to warn us about the car, and gave up after our very obtuse selves kept going back to bed. We apologized for not listening.

DEALING WITH ELEMENTALS, GHOSTS, AND OTHER BEINGS

... I have yet to get any of the spirits I know to do the dishes and vacuum for me (darn it), but they do often help. They are terrific at letting me know when something is wrong, whether it is someone trying to illegally enter via the fire door, or someone who left a burning cigarette in the hallway....

Dealing with Elementals, Ghosts, and Other Beings

I have sooo many incidents that have happened to me - here are a few of the more dramatic ones - I would love any feedback anyone has....

The last condo I lived in had several incidents. The first was when reflected in the glass of a fish tank we had in the living room I saw the body of someone wearing what I guess I would describe as clothing out of a Shakespearean play.  The figure was pacing back and forth through the living room, but was only reflected in the glass of the fish tank.  This went on for at least 20 minutes.
After that incident we had a very noisy exhaust fan above our stove that had a button you had to press very hard to turn on.  We were sitting having dinner and suddenly the exhaust fan turned on by itself.  This was physically impossible because of the difficult button.  I then said, that fan is so loud, I can’t hear, one moment while I go turn it off.  As I rounded the corner to turn it off, I literally saw the button depress and the fan then turned itself off.  This happened three times in a row.

About a week after the incident with the fan,  I was sweeping the kitchen floor and each time I swept I had the routine of picking up the wastebasket and sweeping under it then returning the wastebasket to it’s place.  This time though before I could reach for the wastebasket, it literally levitated in front of me and was set down on the floor exactly where I normally set it down.  Terrified I still resumed my sweeping and then as I was about to pick up the wastebasket it levitated again and was set back down in it’s usual place.  I am not sure why or how, but I just gasped the word Thank you to my “invisible helper” and ran out of the room.

When I was a little girl I asked my grandmother to try on her beautiful opal ring.  She looked very scared when I asked her this question and she told me that the opal was her birthstone and it held a large amount of power.  She said if anyone else would wear it, the ring would bring disastrous events.  She then told me my birthstone was an amethyst and that I should only wear that stone for power.  I disregarded this story thinking it was just a story my grandmother made up to discourage me from wanting to play with her jewelry.  A couple years ago when I was at the Milwaukee Public Museum I walked up to a large display of uncut amethyst.  Remembering my grandmother’s story I held my hands palms down above the amethyst rock.  I didn’t touch the rock at all.  I then felt what could only be described as an electrical surge go through my hands.  When I lifted my hands up there were physical burn marks on my palms.

1. I was in a dark parking lot with a streetlight shining down into the window of the car I was unlocking.  I saw very clearly reflected in the window of the car a body that was dressed in the fashions of about 10 years previous standing directly behind me.  This body did not have a head.  I whirled around and looked behind me and there was nothing there.  Then I turned to unlock my car again and the body was again reflected in the mirror.  I turned again and there was nothing there.  I literally repeated this at least 10 times with the same result before I jumped in my car in terror and drove away.

2. I moved into a second story apartment in Las Vegas.  The first incident that occurred there is my then 4 year old son kept complaining that a girl was coming out of his closet stating that she lived there and if he didnt leave she would kill him.  He repeated this story to me almost on a daily basis.  The second thing that happened there was that my son started telling me that the venetian masks that I hung on the wall were also telling him they were going to kill him.  After that I got very uneasy being in the apartment although I had not witnessed anything for myself.  I did a blessing on the home.  After I performed this blessing every door in the apartment flew violently shut at the same time and literally shook as if someone was behind each door shaking it.  This kept up all night until I ran to a neighbors house in terror.  When I recounted this story to my downstairs neighbors the next morning they informed me that a witch that
practiced black magic had lived there and after she moved out they still heard someone walking around upstairs even though the apartment was empty.  I moved out within days after that, demanding a different apartment in the complex.

3. The last condo I lived in before I moved into the one I presently occupy I saw a figure of a man leaning over the railing when I moved in, watching us move in.  It disappeared as I looked at it but it occurred almost nightly after that.  After my daughter saw it and it scared her I demanded the spirit leave the house and told it we lived there now that it had to go.  It then moved to the attached garage.  Everyday I would lock the garage door that attached to the house and 5 minutes later the door would reopen on its own.  This happened constantly and one night I came in from work and one of my son's matchbox cars that were out there in a storage box was thrown hard at my head out of the garage as the door was again open even though I had locked it with the deadbolt.  There was no one in the garage at the time that could have thrown this car at me.  After that I got angry and screamed at the empty garage, "Stop it now and leave!" I slammed the
door to the garage and locked it. After I did that I felt something slam really hard into the door.  I held my body against the door blocking the door and it kept slamming into the door.  It felt like a large man slamming his body into the door.  After moving from there with my children my ex husband occuppied a room there for a month afterward.  He told me that he was terrified to go into the living room after dark as he kept seeing a bunch of people in the living room which were spirits as noone else was physically in the house.

3.  I have had several times but one that stands out in my memory the most where I walked out of the house and a pile of fall leaves literally lifted itself up from the ground and formed a perfect spiral garland and started swirling around my body and then would drop to the ground again.

4. I was driving by a graveyard one day and saw a jogger that looked like he was trying to catch up with a car that was driving by going the opposite direction from myself.  I laughed as it looked as if the car was playing a joke on their friend and driving slowly away.  Just as the jogger caught up with the car and grabbed the bumper of the car the jogger literally started fading away before my eyes and disappeared.

5. My mother called to tell me my father had just died.  Upon hearing the news I broke down crying and said I wish he would call me just one more time.  The minute I said that an old cell phone (the one he would have had the number to) suddenly rang although a call didnt register with a phone number on the caller id just lit up and showed a call.  It was physically impossible for this phone to ring as it had been completely dead for months as the battery had been removed and the service shut off.

6. Quite a few times in my life out of the blue I will constantly smell roses very very strong as if I suddenly were in a rosegarden.  This has happened in places where it is physically impossible to smell roses drifting in from anywhere.

7. I constantly can predict when the phone will ring and who will be on it as well as know things happened to friends before they tell me and I literally can predict what will happen in the relationships of friends of my immediate family the first time I meet the person or the first time one of my family mention that person.  I was right literally every time.

8. I had an incident happen to me twice in my life where suddenly I heard a loud roaring sound of wind in my ears and the room starts drifting away.  The first time it was Christmas eve and everyone was asleep.  During the sound of this wind roaring I heard a child's voice yelling "MOM!" over and over as if trying to yell over the roar of the wind.  It stopped suddenly and I was positive it was the child I had lost during a pregnancy, why I thought this I have no idea the idea just came on strongly that he was trying to contact me from the other side.  The second time this happened I was browsing faces on myspace randomly.  I suddenly saw this handsome man and the same exact thing happened again with the roar of the wind and the room starting to fade away.  After the roaring went away I was absolutely obsessed of wanting to meet this person.  I went to his page and read every last morsel of information he put there and then commented on one of his
blogs and asked for a friend request.  I hoped for a response to my comment and went to his page everyday reading everything printed there.  He did accept my friend request but did not contact me.  One night he posted a bulletin that said, "Im bored come talk to me".  I contacted him then and we IMed and talked all night.  After repeating this talking for weeks he IMed me and asked me to marry him.  That person is my current fiance who I now live with.

9. Before I moved to the condos I am in now, I didnt even realize they existed.  I was in a side by side house that was in bad repair and had a horrible slumlord running it.  I was going through rent.com and other sites trying to find a place to live.  I got frustrated and closed down every window on the computer preparing to log out.  I answered the phone at my desk and remarked that I wish I could live on the water as my father (who was then deceased) had always talked about living on the water.  As I hung up the phone from that conversation, I turned around to turn off the power switch on my computer and suddenly there was a full color add for the condo that I now live in that has a manmade lake literally in the back yard.  It is directly on the water.  Funny how that appeared when I had no internet explorer tab opened at all and had not touched my computer even though I was sitting right next to it.

10. I almost died three times but had intervention each time.  The first time I was driving very fast (over 70 mph) down the freeway and fell asleep at the wheel (I was going to school and working 3 jobs and never slept!).  When I fell asleep I struck another car headon.  As I opened my eyes I saw a pair of arms with a white robe on the pushing my car back away from the other car.  I had only a very minor cut from my face hitting the wheel and no other injury which should have been physically impossible.  The other cars passengers were equally uninjured.  The second time I was driving from Las Vegas to Wisconsin with my newborn daughter and 5 year old son in the car.  My exhusband was driving and we were driving along a very steep dropoff on a freeway where it was possible to go directly off the edge as there was no guard rail up.  Suddenly a wheel axle snapped completely and my ex husband expertly reacted and turned away from the edge.  He then
told me that directly before that happened he had a vision it would happen and was told how to turn the wheel and take his foot of the pedal to prevent us from going over the edge!  3. The third time was when I had a persistent pain in the side of my chest.  I ignored it thinking it was some kind of muscle ache.  I was in the car with all my children driving to my son's bday party at chuck e cheese.  Suddenly I heard a voice in my ear as if someone were sitting directly behind my ear saying, GO TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW!  This voice kept repeating these instructions over and over!  I finally pushed the Onstar button and told them to direct me to the nearest emergency room.  Upon testing me in the emergency room I was suddenly surrounded by doctors with very grave looks on their face.  I was told if I hadn't come into the hospital right then I could easily be dead as I had an advanced pulmonary blood clot.  I received treatment for this and it
saved my life.

The Voodoo Doll
We moved into a rental house that had an opening in a hall ceiling that lead to a crawl space where storage could go.  Since the first day of moving into that house I was constantly uneasy walking directly underneath that panel and could not figure out why.  I tried to open it with a broomstick to see what was inside but couldn't reach it completely as I didn't have the appropriate ladder, all I could see with the help of the broomstick propping it open where what looked like some sort of chalk drawings.
Shortly after moving in my daughter Zoe whose room was at the end of this hallway and whose doorway was almost directly under that crawlspace, kept complaining of seeing a doll floating in the doorway of her room night after night.  Finally I slept in her room with her to "help her resolve this terror".  I told her to wake me when the doll appeared.  It appeared at midnight.  Zoe woke me and pointed to the open door.  The hall light was on and very clearly there was a rag doll that appeared to look like what I had seen depictions of voodoo dolls look like.  This was not an apparition, it was extremely solid, not at all transparent and was swinging back and forth through the air.  Not believing my eyes I asked Zoe to describe to me exactly what she was seeing and she gave me the same description of the doll I was seeing to verify that we both where experiencing see this doll.  I suddenly felt very angry at this doll and ran up to it yelling for it
to leave my home.  It swung at me as if to try to hit me with its feet and starting swinging through the air violently.  The closer I got to the doll the more solid and substantial it looked.  It kept swinging but seemed to go against an invisible force field when trying to come through the open door.  As I finally got directly in front of it still screaming for it to leave, it jerked one more time violently and literally started fading away in front of my eyes.  My daughter witnessed and described this exact incident as it happened.
Out of curiousity I contacted a voodoo priestess and described the doll to her and asked her if she had ever encountered or heard of anything like this.  Her answer to me upon hearing the physical description of the doll as well as the incident was that she had never encountered it in her lifetime and didn't feel her magic would be strong enough to go up against it.  She then told me her grandmother had experienced it in her lifetime and if unless you have extremely powerful ability that this doll is meant to cause death.

More Incidents....
This occurred years ago while pregnant with my son.  Several incidents happened in the same apartment.  The first incident - I made a habit of keeping a bowl of fruit on the kitchen's table.  Every morning there would be a piece of fruit laying on the counter with tiny child like bites out of it.  Now bear in mind we are in a second story apartment with no access but the front door which had a chain and three deadbolts on it.  I had no children at the time to take this small of bites out of the apple and even if my exhusband or I had been sleep walking there is no way possible our teeth or mouths could have physically formed the bites out of that fruit.  Finally I asked "it" to stop and stated it was wasting fruit and it never occurred again.

The second incidentin that same apartment - I opened the drapes to show my exhusband the very thick frost the window contained.  It was a second story window with no access to the ground unless one would have a very high ladder such as a fireman's ladder.  The frost was so thick that evening that you would really have to push an icescraper very hard for it come off the window.  Suddenly as both my ex and I were watching, letters started to be written on the outside of the window.  They were quite large and formed the word LIE.  I never did find out what that meant or why the entity was trying to communicate this to me.  It did occur before myself and my ex and we had this verified as we asked several neighbors to come in and witness the occurence.

The third incident in that same apartment - My son was a newborn and being a new mother I didn't know any better and put some toys in his crib.  I went to bed and fell asleep after my son fell asleep in his crib.  Three times I felt something shaking me very hard.  Being a worn out new mother I kept ignoring the shaking and said "No you go get the bottle".  Finally with a fourth strong shake I heard the very loud whisper in my ear, "Go check the baby now!".  I ran over to my son's crib and he had fallen asleep with a toy cupping his nose and mouth and stopped breathing.  I removed the toy and it saved my sons life that night.  After I picked up my son in arms, I checked the apartment, no one was home except me and my infant son and the three deadbolts were in place on the door.  My ex was out that night and had not returned all night.

Thank you Lady Nightshayde for this very informative post. I did not realize just how it is for the visually impaired. I thought it was bad that I have to see all the repetition; it must be very frustrating for the visually impaired. Now I see triming my post as a way to help the handicap as well as just plan being nice to others.

If you belong to a Yahoo Group or a list, how often have you seen this request? Do you trim your posts? If you don't why don't you? Is it because you:

2.* Don't see why you should?

If none of the above moves you to trim, think about this. For folks who are vision impaired and depend on screen readers, there is no option to 'visually skim' trying find the pertinent information. They must listen to each and every word; maybe even listen to the mechanical voice count how many asterisks are in the attempt to mark off a section. Many aspects of email, and the Internet in general, can be huge boosts for accessible living. Other aspects, like untrimmed email, can be equally huge roadblocks.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Wednesday, Sept. 28

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:44 am (PDT)

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Wednesday, September 28

Some might say that 'good fences make good neighbors' but I say that using Feng Shui can make you an even better one. But what do you do if no matter how peaceful, harmonious and balanced your home is, you still have that noisy or adversarial neighbor? Feng Shui says that if you live in an apartment and the problem comes from a neighbor living directly across from you, you could try placing a small mirror on your front door to reflect the neighbor's negative energy. If the neighbor living to your right is always wrong, hanging a 6-rod hollow wind chime on this same side of the outside of your front door will lift negativity away. If the nuisance neighbor lives on your left, place an image of a dragon on that same side or position a healthy green standing plant there. All of these adjustments are applicable if you live in a house as well. But householders have the additional bonus of using light cures to negate neighborly darkness. Light is considered an especially effective c ure when attempting to stop evening irritations and annoyances. Position a motion-detecting spotlight outside on the side of the house where the irritation comes from and shine some sense into those people. The granddaddy of all Feng Shui bad neighbor cures says to place a large mouthed basin, or half barrel of water, between you and your neighbor. This water will absorb negative energies and soften relations between the two of you. It might even get that old Ford in their driveway off the cinderblocks and at the scrap metal heap where it belongs. Hey, stranger things have happened when using this cure. Like I said, good fences might make good neighbors, but Feng Shui helps make the bad ones go away.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Tarot Tuesday

Does Tarot Tuesday involve requests for a reading?

I knew another Pagan Website, where people did make requests (this was awhile ago), for readings. That's why I asked.

It's okay with me, either/or. I just wanted to know! :)

Elder's Meditation of the Day

"Love is something that you can leave behind you when you die. It's that powerful."

-- John (Fire) Lame Deer, ROSEBUD LAKOTA

The Old Ones say, love is all anyone needs. Love doesn't go away nor can love be divided. Once you commit an act of love, you'll find it continues. Love is like setting up dominos one behind the other. Once you hit the first domino, it will touch the second one which will touch the third one and so on. Every love act or love thought has an affect on each person as well as touching the whole world. If you live a life filled with love, the results will affect your friends, relatives, and other people, even after you go to the other side. So... Love.

My Creator, let me love. Let me put into action the love dominos.

The Healing Gift

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:27 pm (PDT)

The Healing Gift

Shamans and medicine people do not just wake up one morning and say, "Hmmm, I think I'll be a healer." The knowledge and wisdom attained by those who wish to doctor the sick does not just drop down from the sky. In fact, many who receive the healing gift are hesitant to accept the responsibility because they realize that their lives will no longer be their own. Long-term study or apprenticeship in working with stones, herbs, massage, emotions, and the spiritual beliefs of a particular culture or tradition,
accompanied by selfless work and great personal sacrifice, is what it takes to gain acceptance and status by the local people, tribe, or community in which the healer resides.

Where Does The Healing Gift Come From?

A true healer acknowledges the real source of healing power as the universal energy that animates, vilifies, and ensouls all creatures and things. We all know this universal energy or healing power source by many names--electromagnetism,spiritual ether, limitless light, prana or prakriti, Great Spirit, Great Mystery, God, or Goddess. However, no matter what we choose to call it, this universal power is both the healer and the medicine.
The shaman or medicine worker works with all the totems, helpers, and guides--the spirits, animals, and ancestors--are very real friends and allies that the healer may call upon for guidance, but it's not really all that necessary.

Healing Customs

Tribal and rural village people take the healing process very seriously. Among many traditions, there is usually much discussion by the patient with family, friends, and elders. Everything and everyone involved--the healer, the illness or issue demanding treatment, as well as the suggested therapy--must all be synchronistically correct and in its proper place according to custom before the healer is called upon to perform the work.
It may require several sojourns between the healer, the patient, and his or her relations before the patient accepts the healer and the healer accepts the patient. Then there may also be certain preliminary activities before the actual medicine work takes place, such as fasting, seeking a vision, sweating or purification, prayers, offerings, and feasting. The concept
behind shamanic medicine work is to alter the patient's consciousness because a glimpse into non-ordinary reality may bring about spontaneous healing, and thus affect a cure. Nor will the healer ever seek to help a person who does not formally ask, as this would be considered a violation of natural principles and laws.

Faith is a most necessary ingredient for successful healing. This spiritual virtue forms an emotional connection between the healer and the patient, allowing the healer to transmit vital life-giving energy via the methods selected for healing. The patient should expect to be healed, for if there is any doubt in the healer or his or her abilities, the results may be unstable. A healer must be ready to compensate for any physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual imbalance within the patient. This makes the healer a
spiritual go-between due to his or her ability to speak with the spirits, animals, plants, and stones, and receive an answer as to how to achieve wholeness.

AstroZen

AstroZen

Zen is both a way of meditation that pacifies the mind and a life path leading to spiritual enlightenment. It teaches that problems result from three "evils"-- anger, greed and ignorance, all born of faulty conditioning of the mind.

The astrology chart is a mandala that can be used as both an object of meditation and a way to discover the cause of our problems. The planets, signs and houses indicate clearly the mental conditioning that has distorted our way of perceiving life and is causing difficulty.

For now let's just consider the signs of the zodiac and how they may reveal our individual dharma, or truth. The energy of the signs, as we know, can be expressed both positively and negatively. Negative expression occurs when we are acting or reacting in a conditioned state. Astrology and Zen together can help us decondition ourselves and express the positive energy of the signs.

The Cardinal Signs: Anger
Distortions of our true nature through anger are indicated in the horoscope by the cardinal signs. The self-assertion of Aries, the first cardinal sign, is necessary for survival and holding our own in the world, but when it turns into blind anger at others, Aries can cause much suffering. Zen, the spirit of the Samurai, stands with Aries' wish to fight for what's right, but asks the warrior to curb selfishness and ego.

The next cardinal sign, Cancer, does not come to mind so readily as a cause of anger or hatred. But think about it. Cancer is the sign of the home and patriotism. How many wars have been fought for the sake of the homeland? How much angst have humans suffered over their lives, especially from problems that originate in childhood? Zen, however, sees the earth as a nurturing mother, giving sustenance to all without concern for race, nation or political belief.

Libra can be anger in the form of open combat against known enemies. Libra is also the sign of relationships, and where, other than in our marriages and close personal partnerships, can we experience more anger? In Zen terms, Libra stands for the desire for harmony that exists within all--harmony with our environment, our fellow man and with the Tao, the unnameable something that created this universe, sustains it, and expresses itself through its myriad creations.

Capricorn stands for ambition, which when under control, leads an individual to his rightful place in society. But when attached to a self-serving point of view, Capricorn's drive can become a ruthless pursuit of rank and prestige. The Emperor Wu was shocked when he asked Bodhidharma what merit he had earned by building many monasteries and universities, and the Zen patriarch answered, "None whatever."

The cure for psychological ills stemming from anger, according to Zen, is compassion. Most of us are capable of limited forms of compassion. We feel compassion for those we love or can identify with. But Zen calls for universal compassion for all beings.

The Fixed Signs: Greed
The fixed signs indicate where an individual may become ensnared in the tentacles of greed in its many forms. Taurus relates to values, and when expressed positively, results in well-formed value judgments that lead to good decision making and goal formation. Zen turns our conditional way of setting values upside down. When Master Tung-shan was asked, "What is Buddha-nature (or the highest value)?" he immediately answered, "Three pounds of flax" (something seemingly valueless). Here clearly the master saw the conditioning of the monk's mind that led him to believe that Buddha-nature was just one more thing to pursue and possess in order to enhance his existence.
Leo seeks to shine and be the best it can be. But when not fully aware of their inner processes, Leos can be too greedy for love, appreciation and acknowledgment. Yet the Sun, Leo's ruler, is also the key to personal salvation--the path one must walk. In Zen, when you give yourself completely to life, letting nature act through you, you are said to be a golden-maned lion.

No other sign of the zodiac is more associated with desire than Scorpio. Scorpio is known for its intensity and the desire to be consumed totally by the object of one's passion. In Zen, this deep interpenetrating focus is known as "Samadhi”--total absorption of the mind in the practice of meditation, the individual merged with All, the One.

Aquarius represents rebellion and innovation, and those who seek out the different, the shocking and the unique. Positive Aquarian expression is humanitarian and intuitive. A conditioned expression results in people who are greedy for attention by appearing too unique, too special. The Zen spirit is very Aquarian in nature, however, and enlightenment comes in a typically Uranian flash. Zen masters throughout history constantly used techniques that shocked and jolted their students.

The remedy for psychological ills stemming from greed is love. Through unconditional love we no longer desire to possess and accumulate things for ourselves, but rather our focus is on what we can give to others.

The Mutable Signs: Ignorance
Ignorance or delusion, and its opposite, wisdom, is the province of the mutable signs. Gemini clearly falls under the Zen description, "the monkey mind." Gemini perceives subject and object, but Zen teaches that it is this dualistic way of perception that is the root of all trouble. Rational thinking has its uses, but can only take us so far. It stops short at the gate to true understanding.

Virgo seeks perfection and to know the world in greater detail. But when too narrowly focused, Virgo energy becomes the "discriminating mind" that Zen seeks to overturn in favor of a more transcendental view. The third patriarch of Zen, Seng-ts'an, once said, "The Great Way is very simple. Just avoid picking and choosing."

The farsighted vision of Sagittarius seeks the broader horizons of knowledge. Its ultimate goal is wisdom, but too often pomposity and prejudice result when one clings too tightly to one's view of the world. In forming our own opinions, we must at all times keep an open mind.

Pisces energy is pure, unconditional love. But no sign has a greater potential for succumbing to delusion. Likewise, the Twelfth House, associated with Pisces, is the place where the mind either seeks enlightenment or becomes lost in illusions. Pisces is meditation, pure consciousness, and the place where we experience the truth of the words of Hui-Neng, the Sixth Patriarch (638-713 AD), "From the first, not a thing is."
The cure for ignorance is the cultivation of wisdom. Following the Zen saying that "those who know, speak not, while those who speak know not," we must listen for the voice from within.

The Therapy of Zen
We suffer because we depend too much on the conditions of our lives, according to Zen. When things are good, we're happy. When life starts to fall apart, we panic. The goal of Zen is to clear away the conditioning of the mind and to reach one's true nature.
In his book Zen Therapy, Transcending the Sorrows of the Human Mind, David Brazier says our true nature is nothing more than the fact that we all exist in the same universe of which we are all a part. We are in it and it is in us. An ethical life is lived, he says, not because of some externally-imposed rules, but because we realize we are all one, and want to live in harmony with our world and to do it no harm.
The astrological birth chart can be used to help us achieve this goal. By analyzing the astrological blueprint of our true nature, and working on the conditioning we find there, we can better understand ourselves and our relationship to our universal nature.

The Mysteries of Witchcraft

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:28 pm (PDT)

The Mysteries of Witchcraft

Have you ever wondered about your existence prior to your birth? Do you ever think about what happens after death, or wonder about the purpose of your existence? If so, you have touched upon the very mysteries that are the foundations of Witchcraft as a religion and spiritual path.

We live in a wondrous technological era that has opened many new vistas. We now know more about the Universe outside of our planet and within our own bodies. The idea of life on other worlds, and the concept of other dimensions of reality beyond our own, is no longer exclusive to science fiction.

Today we have an understanding that was not available to our ancestors, lending us an advantage. Science has exposed certain ancient beliefs as nothing more than mere superstition. However, science has also revealed that many ancient herbal and folk magic remedies are valid solutions and possess practical applications.

One area in which modern science has yet to catch up with ancient wisdom is that of magic and the mystical. Here we find the timeless secrets of the nature of our own souls, as well as the knowledge of the divine essence within all things. According to oral tradition, there have always been the keepers of such ancient knowledge and wisdom. They have been known by many names and titles throughout history, and among them we find the Druid and the Witch.

The majority of popular books today on Witchcraft often focus upon spells and rituals. The general theme of most Witchcraft and Wicca books is one of self-discovery and self-development. While such books are valuable, they can lack a connection to what is greater than the Self. How then do we merge with the higher nature and thereby enter into a relationship with the Cosmos, of which we are an integral part? Our ancestors preserved various methods, concepts and techniques that were designed to aid the individual in gaining greater awareness. Over the centuries, Mystery Schools were developed to offer initiation and training in time-proven methods of spiritual enlightenment. In our current age of materialism and self-centered awareness, the ancient Mysteries are more important than ever.

Due to many factors, an individual may never have the opportunity in this life to encounter the Mystery Teachings. The ancient Mystery Schools are difficult to find, and teachers of the Old Ways are a minority in modern times. It is for this reason that I wrote a book titled Witchcraft: A Mystery Tradition. Readers of my new book will find a rich source of essential teachings and practical methods for training in the Mysteries. These are designed to help create internal alignments to the Divine Blueprint, which is the essence of the world of nature and beyond. In addition, the book provides a cohesive body of myths and ritual alignments, upon which anyone can construct their own tradition of Witchcraft or Wicca.

Over the span of more than three decades, I have devoted my life to the study of the ancient Mysteries. During this period I have also been initiated into several modern Witchcraft/Wicca traditions. This has provided me with the unique opportunity to compare the old and the new. What began as a personal interest in such comparisons became the formal process of writing my new book.

As an author I have the privilege of meeting and corresponding with many practitioners of Witchcraft and Wicca throughout the United States and other parts of the World. One area of frustration among these practitioners is related to the rituals that comprise the Wheel of the Year. One consistent concern is that the popular Sabbats lack a unified cultural theme and mythos to carry them as one cohesive and interconnected body. Instead they can often appear as loosely related themes partially connected by seasonal ideas from various outside sources. Therefore they do not always share the same essential roots, which can result in a curious patchwork mixture of themes, deities, practices and concepts.

To address this concern, and offer an alternative, I set about the task of applying an older cohesive theme to the template of modern Witchcraft and Wiccan Sabbats. I selected a Celtic foundation for the mythical associations related to each Sabbat. To this I added a congruent Celtic pantheon that best matched the Wheel of the Year, and provided an unbroken story line. This theme follows a matched and mated Goddess and God throughout the year in keeping with the seasonal transitions and with authentic myths and legends.

Witchcraft: A Mystery Tradition is the first book of its kind to aid priestesses and priests of the Craft in formulating an integrated Wheel of the Year system. It is also the first book to initiate the solitary Witch/Wiccan on the road to the Inner Mysteries. It is my honor to share this material, and I hope others will find it of value in their own journey.

Kitchen Witch
Items needed:

metal gingerbread man cookie cutter
Spanish moss
black felt or bought felt witch's hat
orange material for skirt
thin orange ribbon
black material
glue
trim

Fold black material in half, cut a slit and slide over head.
With thread, sew a running stitch through the top of one edge of the
orange material and gather around the waist. Stitch in place.
Glue orange ribbon over the stitches. Cut pieces of ribbon long
enough to be suspenders and glue in place.
Glue Spanish moss to top of cookie cutter.
Glue witch's hat to Spanish moss. Or, if using black felt, cut a
circle the diameter you wish the hat to be. Cut a wide triangle of
felt, wrap to form a cone, and glue to circle. Glue to Spanish moss
Glue desired trim in place

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Don't know what is going on as my e-mail addy for the groups seems to be constantly bouncing...and I check my e-mails several times during the day. Anybody know why this would be happening?
