Daily Feng Shui Tip

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Thursday, March 24

I'd pretty much celebrate National Chocolate Covered Anything day, but, today's energies are dedicated to one of my favorite 'fruits' with a little extra added special something since it's 'National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day.' As we know, raisins are really just dried grapes, but they both have an incredible history of magical legend and lore behind them. In fact, most ancient Egyptian tombs were stuffed with grapes and jars full of raisins, as these were said to be sacred to Greek and Roman deities like Dionysius and Bacchus. Some of those same ancient traditions also told of eating grapes to produce inspirational dreams or to encourage fertility. Gardeners say that planting grapes in temperate climates will help strengthen all other plants growing nearby. The secret Shui says that you should surround a bunch of grapes with a handful of silver coins. As you hold your hands over the grapes, visualize tons of money coming immediately into your life. Once you can actually feel as if the money has already manifested, you can eat the grapes, keeping an attitude of gratitude for the cash now coming your way. Raisins that have been dried by the sun are also eaten in money drawing diets. Raisins are aligned with the fire element in Feng Shui, so eating them also encourages recognition and rewards. Could there be anything better than eating chocolate covered raisins to raise your own profile and fame factor? Nah -- and yum!

Archetypes: The Star Crossed Lovers

Archetypes: The Star-Crossed Lovers
March 23, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Psychic Liam ext. 9290
Touring the Archetypes
From the depths of humanity, the spiral Serpent Queen issues forth in the drive for genetic expression; our DNA embedded within Her coils. The quest for being is a primary and potent goal. It is housed in the strange, murky shadows of our nature, seething in a chemical stew of decay and rebirth. A product of the ancient reptilian brain, it knows no logic, has no use for compassion. And yet, it is there that the Midnight Queen also resides. Aphrodite… Astarte… She who weaves the webs of haunted love. Not idealized love. Not happily-ever-after love. Those concepts belong to the brilliant light of day. Her realm is night and Her spell is cast in darkness.
Stories of star-crossed lovers abound. In the sad strains of Tristan and Isolde, we find the classic archetypical tale and all the hell and savagery, bliss and tragedy one could want. But what are star-crossed lovers? Why is this situation so germane to our nature that it permeates our myths and legends?
"Star crossed" is an archaic astrological term that means the match is contrary to the edicts of faith and culture. It is literally against what is supposed to be. Such lovers fall into states of mad obsession, despite the fact that this love is contrary to the laws of their gods and countries. Often one or both is already married or at the very least promised to another. Or, as in that most famous of doomed duos, Romeo and Juliet, their families are old and mortal enemies. In the legendary tale of Helen of Troy and Paris, a star-crossed love causes nations to collide. The forbidden desire of Lancelot and Guinevere destroys Camelot, the mythical seat of patriarchal piety and order. And Deirdre of the Sorrows warns yet again the terrible price to be paid for a union that demands fulfillment in direct and destructive contradiction to the good of social order.
This archetype is all about nature's chaotic edicts clashing with social convention. It illustrates the desperate quest of patriarchal society to control mating behavior in order to engineer its own genetic agenda. Star-crossed lovers everywhere know the conflict and tragedy of their lot. When such a haunted love comes knocking, it never takes no for an answer. In many stories we find its irresistible calling card in the form of a magical potion such as the one Aphrodite gives to Helen. In nature, such love is very much like an injection of poison delivered straight into the very core of our beings. Once a genetic pair bonding begins, the body is hijacked and the mind sent reeling. Logic goes on hiatus and common sense takes a vacation.
This is the kingdom of the Chaos Mother and the Crone. The Goddess abounds… Magic is prevalent… Seers reside on every corner… In this place genetic attraction is the prime mover, and no conscious effort will change its path. The potion is introduced and the die is cast. The players fret and weep, for to have this love they must forsake all else, often having to betray a kindly king, father or other benign male figure of security and light. He is patriarchy… established social order… and He represents the deeply ingrained masculine need to control female choices. He is family, religion and the notion of ideal romantic love with big weddings and happily ever-afters. He shuns the forests and haunted glens. He has no time for magic and inserts His moral caution into every tale of this kind: Follow your heart and the kingdom will fall. It will end badly for everyone.
Instinct versus social law. It truly is the oldest of all conflicts. In my work, how many Deidres have brought me the tales of their sorrow? How many Guineveres come to me broken with grief for their Lancelot? The potion is given without warning. Disruption comes despite every effort to divert it. It is the truest lesson of the negation of free will in the face of nature. However even archetypes alter over time. Is it not interesting that in Lawerence's Lady Chatterley, instead of a benign old king we find a crippled husband, impotent and dying, while Constance and her Game Keeper prepare to start a life of their own without the castle crumbling to ruin? No longer does the rebellious lady need to fear the beast of her own nature. Her Goddess within has, with a very hard effort, become her own.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - March 24

Our religion is the traditions of ourancestors; the dreams of our old men, given them in the solemn hours of nightby the Great Spirit; and the visions ofour sachems, and is written in the heartsof our people.

-- Chief Seattle, SUQUAMISH

Our Spiritual ways have carefully been givento chosen people. Slowly, through our pastgenerations, through past conflicts, our Eldersprayed for guidance, which the Creatorprovided. Then it was passed down to the nextgeneration through culture, ceremony andoral traditions. Our Indian religion has beentested and is about how we should behave andtreat other people, animals and the earth. This knowledge is written in the heart of everyperson. We can find this knowledge by lookinginside ourselves.

The Color Quarrel

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Mar 24, 2011 1:18 pm (PDT)

The Color Quarrel

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to
quarrel: all claimed that they were the best, the most important,
the most useful, the favorite.

GREEN said: "Clearly I am the most important. I am the
sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, leaves,
trees--without me, all animals would die. Look out over the
countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."

BLUE interrupted: "You only think about the Earth, but
consider the sky and sea. It is the water that is the basis of life
and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space
and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

YELLOW chuckled: "You are all so serious. I bring
laughter, gaiety, and warmth to the world. The sun is yellow, the moon
is yellow, and the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a
sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me, there would
be no fun."

ORANGE started next to blow her temper. "I am the
color of health and strength. I may be scarce but I am precious for I
serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think
of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangos, and pawpaws. I don't hang
around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my
beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of
you."

RED could stand it no longer. He shouted out: "I am
the ruler of all of you! I am blood! Life's blood! I am the color of
danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring
fire to the blood! I am the color of passion and of love, the red
rose, the poppy and the poinsettia. Without me, the earth would
be as empty as the moon!"

PURPLE rose up to his full height. He was very tall
and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power.
Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am a sign of
authority and wisdom. People do not question me, they listen and
obey."

Finally, INDIGO spoke, much more quietly than all the
others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the
color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become
superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep
water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner
peace."

And so all the colors went on boasting and
quarreling, each convinced of their own superiority. Soon, their
quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling
flash of bright lightening!

Thunder rolled and boomed! Rain started to pour down
relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear drawing close to one
another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, RAIN began to speak: "You
foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to
dominate the rest. Don't you know you were each made for a special
purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to
me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined
hands. The RAIN continued: "From now on, when it rains, each of you
will stretch across the sky in a great bow of colors as a reminder
that you can all live in peace. The rainbow is a sign of hope for
tomorrow."

And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a
rainbow appears in the sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.

Keep in Mind: As Within, So Without

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Keep in Mind: As Within, So Without

This philosophical strategy has helped me many times throughout my
adult life. It's greatest value is to help you regain your perspective
when your life seems hectic or out of control. It stems from the understanding that
your outer world--your environment, the noise level, the relative calm or
chaos in your life--is usually a reflection of your inner world, the degree of
peace and equanimity (or the lack thereof) your experience in mind.

Many people have a strong resistance to this strategy because it can
be quite humbling. Who wants to believe that a hectic life is caused, even in
part, by a frenzied mind After all, it's easier to believe that your life
is hectic because of your circumstances, schedule, and responsibilities. If
you have the humility to admit, however, take this message is true, it can be
enormously helpful, because while you have little control over your outer
environment, you do have the capacity to change from the inside out.

One of my favorite books is Jon Kabat-Zinn's Wherever You Go, There
You Are. Consider, for a moment, the essence of this title. It correctly
suggests that if you are nervous, hurried, and disorganized in your home,
you'll probably find a way to re-create a similar set of facts wherever you go. For
example, have you ever met someone who is always late? Does it help if you
give that person an extra ten minutes to get ready? No, it doesn't. The reason
is simple: The habit that creates the tendency to be late isn't the
clock, or the time of day, or even the number of things to do that day. Instead, it
stems from an inner habit--the tendency to wait until the last possible minute
to leave. You can change the external facts--where the person is going, who he
or she is going to meet, and so forth, but the person will almost always find a
way to show up late. He or she will always have an array of great excuses,
but the fact remains, he or she will be late. This habit, like all the
others, comes from inside the person and is reflected in his or her life.

The most helpful part of this information has to do with the
question "What comes first, a calm mind or a calm life?" If you think about Kabat-
Zinn's title, the answer, while difficult to admit, is obvious. A calm mind
precedes a more peaceful outer life. In other words, if your life seems
overwhelming, the best place to start your improvement is within your own mind.
Perhaps you need a break or a change of pace. Maybe you need a little more time
for yourself; maybe you need to spend less time watching television and a
little more time reading helpful books. Would learning meditation or spending
time in prayer be helpful? Perhaps you need less sleep or to get up even earlier to
create some time alone. Each person is going to require a different
prescription because each of us has different needs. Yet, the very act of simply
acknowledging that the root of the problem lies within--not in the
circumstances in your life--if often helpful in and of itself because it places the blame
where it really belongs: each of us. The next time you're feeling overwhelmed
or frustrated, slow down and take a look inside. If you do, I'm certain
you'll agree that your outer life is a reflection of your inner world. By simply
noticing this connection, you may very well know what steps are needed to
solve the problem.

Seven Words of Well-Being

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Mar 24, 2011 1:21 pm (PDT)

SEVEN WORDS OF WELL-BEING

MOVE
Your address, your bed, your body, your bookshelf. Take a walk, take a
hike, take a step away from stagnating jobs, relationships and life
patterns. Change perspective. Move closer to people who meet you with
authenticity and nourish your wildest dreams. You don't have to move
mountains, shifting a single pebble can work wonders.

TOUCH
Touch the part of your own body that you love. Embrace in the bakery,
in the parking lot, in the doorways all over town. Kiss people on the
cheek. Stroke your cat more, pet your dog more. Savor the sensation
of a silky scarf, of a well-sanded piece of wood, of the triad of textures
in an Almond Joy. Moss, bark, rocks and the water work, too. The more you
do it, the less you bump up against the "ouch" in touch.

LISTEN
Sit in silence and see how much there is to hear. Listen to people.
What are they really saying? Listen to the very last notes of every
song. Listen to your own inner voice - the one you hear only when the dim
of every day is diminished. Hear the rustle of a leaf, the call of a bullfrog,
the pop and crackle of your wood stove. Listen with your toes, listen
with your heart and always listen to that which is never spoken.

FEEL
Feel the pain, feel the joy, until you feel you'll surely evaporate.
Stop holding back from laughing with your belly, loving from the
deepest places of your heart, swooning with the sensuality of life itself.
When another's disregard or arrogance enrages you, feel the anger rise up
and roar! If you're not truly feeling, you're not truly alive - you're just
going through the motions.

TRUST
Stop second-guessing yourself. You know what you know, you know? That
inner tickling is your highest truth. It will serve you well; the
backfire comes when you deny or discount it. Take in information,
from all sides, yet trust, in the end, that you - and you alone - know what's
best for you. If all day you pine to paint, then that is what you must do. If
you ache to walk beside the ocean, find a way to get there. Without complete
trust, you are left only to rust.

GATHER
Gather together with women and men you love. Sip tea together, walk
in the woods together, talk and talk and talk, read aloud to each
other, doabsolutely nothing together. Revel in how your hair and your skin and
your bodies and your stories are so different - and so utterly alike.
Cook and eat together, stand beside the washing machine and cry and hug
and wail together. And most assuredly, laugh together until your sides
ache.

RECEIVE
For once, stop giving, giving, giving to everyone but yourself.
Accept a compliment with grace. Voice what you need - be it a hug, a
moment of talk, food for your table, a loan of money - and know that it will be

Your Sun Sign Success Colors

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Your Sun Sign Success Colors
Adapted from Earth Magic, by Claire Nahmad (Inner Traditions, 1994).

Colors can have a significant effect on our mood and behavior, and on
the ways in which others perceive us. When our color choices are aligned
with a deeper, more authentic self rather than with what is merely
fashionable, we radiate an aura of confidence grounded in who we are.

Find out which colors are in tune with your sun sign so you can truly
dress for success, or decorate your home to reflect more of your deeper
self.

Aries, March 21-April 19: Red, bright colors, especially green, pink,
white, and yellow.

Taurus, April 20-May 21: All shades of blue and green, turquoise, soft
rose-pinks.

Gemini, May 22-June 20: White, silver, yellow, spring green, pale gray.

Cancer, June 21-July 22: Pale blue, silver, pearl, glistening white,
emerald green.

Leo, July 23- Aug 22: All shades of gold, yellow, orange, vermilion,
copper, blood red, light green, white.

Virgo, Aug 23-Sept 22: Pastel shades of blue, gold, peach, yellow, and
amethyst; jade green, autumn hues.

Libra, Sept 23-Oct 22: Royal blue, cerulean blue, rose-pink, amethyst,
violet.

Scorpio, Oct 23-Nov 1: Deep, dark shades of red, russet-brown,
shadow-black, stone-gray.

Sagittarius, Nov 22-Dec 21: Lilac, mauve, purple, amethyst, violet,
indigo, vermilion, midnight blue.

Capricorn, Dec 22-Jan 19: Black, gray, violet, dark brown, dun, shades
of earth.

Aquarius, Jan 20-Feb 18: All colors of the spectrum, particularly
electric and ultramarine blue, electric green, deep violet.

Pisces, Feb 19-March 20: Purple, violet, amethyst, sea-green, turquoise.

Fun Friday--Fun Horoscope

Fun Horoscope

Aries (The Ram)

Chaarrrge! Aries, the ram, is always moving forward. Those born under this sign are full of energy and gung-ho attitude. Just don't get on their bad side. Aries prefer to be the head of the pack. When things don't go their way, look out! Aries' big egos can make them very irritable sometimes. But don't worry – most days are filled with optimism and forward-thinking.

.

Taurus (The Bull)

You might think that Taurus, the bull, is always ready to butt heads. But actually, the opposite is true. Tauruses are known for creating harmony and lasting friendships. Sure, they do prefer to get their way. But they achieve this with hard work and determination – not pushiness. They are patient and reliable (always there for a favor). And their creativity takes them far.

Gemini (The Twins)

Think fast! This quick-witted sign is always a step ahead of you. Geminis, the twins, are very clever. They can lead a conversation on almost any topic. They love to adapt to new situations. But beware: they can also have problems with commitment. So if you're thinking long-term relationship, you must keep things interesting to prolong the spark.

Cancer (The Crab)

Cancers are very much like the Crab that represents them: hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Sure, they boss people around. But that doesn't mean they don't have feelings too! Behind their stubborn side is a very loving personality. What happens if you insult them? They might not show emotion on the outside. But inside, they are hurting.

Leo (The Lion)

Rooooar! This frightful lion often wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. But he's not as ferocious as he seems. Leos are confident, determined individuals. Stand in their path and you might get run over. But don't take it personally. This hot-tempered zodiac sign is simply concentrating on its goals – no matter how bold and daring they may be.

Virgo (The Virgin)

It the apocalypse ever comes, Virgos will be good to have around. They are smart, rational and they can adapt to almost any situation. Unfortunately, they're also very moody! But don't let that fool you. Underneath their outward emotions, they have enough wit and intellect to tackle any challenge.
Libra (The Scales)

"Leave me alone!" Be careful not disturb Libra's well-balanced life. When their harmony is upset, they are thrown into an emotion state. And you don't want to be around when it happens! It's no wonder. Librans are filled with love and excellent reasoning ability. They like things to be perfect. So when something undermines their efforts, the entire world seems to crumble.

Scorpio (The Scorpion)

Beware the scorpion sting! Scorpios can be very intense, strong-willed personalities. They're not just on a personal mission. They want others to follow them. Sure, they can be loving and imaginative, but they may use those traits to trick you into going their way. Watch out for the secretive and vindictive side. Scorpios' wrath is often the result of extreme jealousy!

Sagittarius (The Centaur)

The zodiac hero! Sagittariuses, the centaurs, are confident and optimistic. When asked, they will gladly lead the way. But unfortunately, it won't always be the right direction. Sagittarius's curious side can turn into reckless, impatient behavior. But make no mistake: they will find the way … eventually.

Capricorn (The Goat)

Is the glass half-empty or half-full? It doesn't matter, says the Capricorn, as he drinks the water. Capricorns tend to be ruthlessly realistic. They will tell you how it is – and they won't sugar coat it, either. It's not pessimism. It's just practicality. If they seem a little cold, it's because they lead by logic, not emotion.

Aquarius (The Water Carrier)

Always ready to make a slash! Aquarius, the water carrier, has a serious knack for invention. They love new ideas … new things … and new people. They are idealists, but their practical side keeps them grounded. In groups, their humorous and eccentric traits can make them the jokester, or the odd one out.

Pisces (The Fishes)

Be careful not the hurt the feelings of a Pisces. They tend to be the most sensitive personalities of all. But why would you hurt them anyway? This easy-going zodiac sign is very trustworthy and loyal. They have amazing ideas, but unfortunately, those ideas are often very unrealistic. This makes Pisces good in creative roles, but not reliable in real-world challenges.

Fun Friday--Ponderings for Idle Moments

Ponderings for Idle Moments

- Whose cruel idea was it for the word "lisp" to have an "s" in it?

- Since light travels faster than sound, isn't that why some peopleappear bright until you hear them speak?

- How come abbreviated is such a long word?

- If it's zero degrees outside today and it's supposed to be twice ascold tomorrow, how cold is it going to be?

- Since Americans throw rice at weddings, do Asians throw hamburgers?

- Why are they called apartments, when they're all stuck together?

- Why do banks charge you a "non-sufficient funds fee" on money theyalready know you don't have?

- If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to see it, do theother trees make fun of it?

- When two airplanes almost collide why do they call it a near miss??It sounds like a near hit to me!!

- Do fish get cramps after eating?
