The Light Within

There is a light within us all… there is also a darkness ….
We have a choice every minute of every day to embrace either side …. or……..
TO FIND THE BALANCE WITHIN.
Take a moment to think about your own inner light,
Do you nurture it?
Do you smolder it?
Do you keep that light kindled?
What do you kindle it with?
Do you feel the warmth of your own light?
Do you allow it to shine?
Do you dowse it's flame?
How do you feed your light?
Do you feed it?
Are you afraid of it?
Are you afraid of what others will say or think when they see your light?
Do you know it's color?
Do you feel it's strength?
Do you know where it lives?
Just a few questions to ponder while you sleep tonight.
Don't be afraid to shine your light on the world…. the world could use more
of us shining our light instead of hiding it away.

Selenite is an ancient stone formed the evaporation of salt water in ancient seas. It is a clear, layered mineral that is part of the Gypsum family of minerals. Other minerals in this family are Alabaster, Satin Spar, Desert Rose and Gypsum Flower. All four varieties of Gypsum have obvious crystalline structures and all four varieties of Gypsum are sometimes grouped together and called Selenite. Gypsum is a fairly common mineral found in sedimentary rocks throughout the world. Granular, massive gypsum is known as alabaster. For the purpose of this entry, Selenite denotes the clear crystal variety that is less commonly found.
Large "sheets" of Selenite can be found in Colorado and Utah; US. Selenite "blades" are found in the Naica Mine located in Chihuahua, Mexico. It is famously known as the "Cave of Swords" where giant crystals have formed, with some measuring over thirty feet in length. Other Selenite is found in Australia, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Madagascar. Selenite is found in ice clear or partly cloudy, striated, fine, or delicate crystal formations. It is a very soft and fragile salt crystal. You can even scratch it with your fingernail. Some in the New Age crowd feel that as Selenite is found in places that are sunny, such as the desert, that it thrives on light. Selenite is therefore is not meant to be kept stored in a box or drawer but is a carrier of light energy and should be out where it can absorb sunlight.
This stone is named after the Moon Goddess Selene and comes from the Latin selenites and Greek selºnitºs (lithos), meaning moonstone or stone of the moon. It had been believed by ancient peoples that certain transparent crystals would wax and wane with the moon. Selenite is known as the "Stone of Mental Clarity" and is thought to be a bringer of light. Apparently there is a growing number of people who are finding Selenite to be more useful and responsive than Quartz Crystal. As Quartz is seen as having an uncompromising habit of amplifying energy both positive and negative.

Selenite is able to help activate the soul chakra and does its greatest healing work at the energetic levels.

Cleansing And Programming Stones
If you need help cleansing another stone, use Selenite.
It is believed by some that Selenite is one of two minerals (the other being Apophyllite,) that are strong enough to cleanse negative energy from Quartz. It's also believed that Selenite has the ability to help program (charge), or reprogram (recharge), a Quartz crystal.
Place any crystal, specimen or pocket stone you have been working with on top of your Selenite Wand. You can set a number of different stones in a row. The Selenite will both clean any energies present and recharge your other crystals and stones. You can greatly increase any other crystal or stone energy by pointing your Selenite Wand at the other stone. Reprogramming is done this manner. Just visualize how you want the energy of your Quartz crystal or other stone to perform.
Selenite thought too to be good for charging magickal tools.
To cleanse and recharge your Selenite, place it under the light of the Moon.
Healing
When used in Healing work, Selenite aligns the spinal column and promotes flexibility. It guards against epileptic seizures, strengthens bones, teeth. soothes nerves.
Selenite is referred to as "scanners" by some as it is said to have the ability to scan the body for disease or malfunction; pinpointing any areas that may need attention.
Love
Selenite can be exchanged between lovers for reconciliation.
It can boost the libido (sex drive) and is also a stone of fertility, pregnancy and motherhood. Use white selenite in fertility or sex magic.
Past Life Working
One of the wonderful features of Selenite is that it can come in forms of natural rods or wands for use in ritual or magickal workings. These natural Selenite wands are referred to as "Light Wands" due to their ability by some practioners to conduct and absorb light.
These Selenite Crystal wands are naturally split and not finished, so their energy is natural and has not been altered or affected by tools or acid. These wands can be used to access past lives and even future lives by rubbing the wand with a finger or thumb while in a meditative state.
Peace And Calm
Selenite is a calm stone that instills deep peace and is excellent for meditation. It keeps hope alive in difficult times.

Selenite wands are useful for detaching and removing entities from a person's aura; as well as preventing anything external from influencing the mind.
Psychism
Often heralded as the "Stone of Mental Clarity," Selenite is believed to be able to enhance mental flexibility and strengthen decision making and strengthen will power. This stone is thought to have a positive influence on the mind with aiding concentration and clarity. It's used too for guidance from Angels.
This stone can help access past lives, remove energy blocks from both the physical and etheric bodies.
Selenite is seen by some as a doorway between spirit and nature, acting as a conduit for communication between them. It will also boost telepathic links with all animals.
Selenite can be used for scrying into both the past, present and future. They are also said to be good for dream recall.
Spirit Guides, Angels, Higher Beings or Totem Animals are all thought to be more easily contacted using a Selenite Wand.
Caution And Warning
Selenite is composed of calcium sulfate dehydrate, meaning it has two molecules of water. It will dissolve when wet.
To clean this stone, simply wipe it carefully with a damp cloth. Do not use soap, hard or fast running water and do not immerse Selenite in water or it will disintegrate. These stones are fragile.
