i agree with silver fox. have all your facts straight about what wicca is and why you believe so strongly in it as well as why you dont feel christianity (or other religion)isnt the best choice for you. my fiance converted to muslim from christianity a couple of years ago. his family forgets quite often and plays it off as a childhood phase that he will grow out of.. "oh yeah you dont eat pork anymore, i forgot" but for the most part they respect his decision. i have told my family on numerous occasions that i dont believe myself to be of any religion becuase i cant agree that fasting or restricting your diet in anyway brings you closer to god. thanking the gods for the food you have been blessed with, i can agree with that. i am still searching, but i have found paganism and this is something i can agree with. i am still learning, so for the moment i have only told my friends and fiance, my family (mostly the older generation) wont understand and prolly
never will understand my religious choices and i havent decided how to handle that part yet.

That's a hard one, I myself still haven't told my own Parents and many of my family due to their strong religious convictions and being adamant that anything that "isn't of God" is therefore of the Devil and Satan trying to lead us astray.

 

More so if you're a teenager, you will need to give this some long thought and consideration. Perhaps a prayer or meditation with the Goddess for the best approach. But I can imagine it would trying to find a calm time and starting off with something to the effect of "Mom (or Dad), there's something I want to tell you...." and having it go from there.

 

All I can say is be sure of yourself, your beliefs and where you stand when you do this. Do you have friends, Teachers a support group there you can talk to immediately that isn't on-line or over a phone to help act as a support group?

 

Be prepared to answer some (possibly hard) questions regarding being Wiccan/Pagan. You may get very lucky and find you've done some needless worrying and made a mountain out of a mole hill. The worst is the reality that there are those Christians who won't accept Wicca and view it all as Satanism and Devil Worship. And be prepared for the Christian view of still trying to save your soul.

 

Maybe that helps, maybe it doesn't. But give it some careful thought and even prayer.

My wand was provided by Lake Michigan. :) I was sitting on the beach,
meditating on the tools that I still needed to make, when a piece of
driftwood came up to me on the waves. I looked at it and found that it was
an old branch of exactly the right size and shape that I needed. I thanked
the Goddess and God and the Element of Water and have been using it ever
since!

OOOOH I think you're missing that the intent of those holding the mirror can
reflect back on them too :) .. that old their meanie poopie heads and they
should go pound sand and (most horribly) should not have a right to speak
because they (OMG) dare to disagree with me thing (darn that inconvienient
constitution) will come back and bite folks on the hind quarters--hard

Today I walk forward into the direction of my dreams..

Nothing I can do about the past for it has gone … today I look at the
here and now and work towards the future.

Sitting idle waiting … accomplishes nothing

Even if today you only take one step toward your goals/dreams…
that’s one step closer than you were before.

We can’t always go full speed ahead .. and that’s ok … take the
time you need to take and go at your own pace.. as long as you are
walking forward.

Eostre's Eggs And The Legend Of The Easter Bunny

The Anglo-Saxons hailed Eostre as the Goddess of Spring, the Greening Earth, and Fertility. Her name means: "moving with the waxing sun." Around the time of her festival, on the day when light and dark are equal, the local animals began giving birth or going into their sexually receptive cycles, name "estrus periods" after the goddess. From the fiercest to the most humble, the woodland animals – who also worshipped and loved Eostre – would play in the warmth of spring light and feast on the new vegetation Eostre provided.

One of Eostre's devotees was a small hare who wished very much to give a gift to his goddess, but he didn't know what he could possibly offer that would be of any value to her. Then one day while foraging, the hare came across a fresh egg, a very prized commodity indeed. The little hare wanted very badly to eat the egg, as it had been a long time since he'd feasted on anything finer than dry grasses. Before he could take a bite of his prize, he realized this egg might make the perfect gift for Eostre. But, he pondered; Eostre could have all the eggs she wanted, anytime she wanted them. She was a goddess, a creator, the embodiment of Life itself. Giving her just any egg would never do. How, he wondered, could he make this egg a fit offering for his goddess?

The little hare took the egg home and pondered how to make it as beautiful and new as Eostre made the world each spring. He began to decorate the egg. He painted it in the hues of Eostre's spring woods and placed upon the shell symbols sacred to Eostre. When he felt he could not make the egg any more beautiful, he took it to Eostre and offered it to her.

Eostre was so pleased by the little hare's sacrifice of his egg to her, and by the manner in which he decorated it for her, that she wanted everyone – especially children, who are themselves symbols of new life – to enjoy these representations of her bounty. Since that Ostara day long ago, the descendants of that hare have taken up the task of delivering decorated eggs to the world's children at spring. They are called Eostre's Bunnies or, more commonly, the Easter Bunny.

Garden Blessing Bottle

Garden Blessing Bottle

This neat bottle is to prepare you for the garden season ahead. As well as blessing your seeds for an abundant harvest.

You'll need:


One seed from each plant that you to grow
A small bottle/jar with a cork or lid (a green bottle is preferable)
A brown candle

Place the seeds on your altar. Set the bottle/jar next to the seeds.
Light the brown candle.

Cast a circle according to your tradition, or just visualize a glowing white sphere surrounding you and your altar. Face the altar and say these words or similar:

I call on the Element of the Earth
I ask for your Blessings upon these seeds
May you provide a fertile anchor for these seeds to sprout
And their roots to grow
May you hold these seeds in your loving embrace.

I call on the Element of the Air.
I ask for your Blessings upon these seeds
May your winds not blow too strong
May gentle breezes caress my garden.

I call on the Element of Fire
I ask for your Blessings upon these seeds
May the warmth of the Sun cause abundant growth
May the Sun gently kiss my garden.

I call on the Element of Water
I ask for your Blessings upon these seeds
May you not rain too much, nor too little
So that these seeds may fulfill their quest
In the scheme of Nature.

I call on the Element of Spirit
The fifth Element that binds all together
I ask for you Blessings upon these seeds
Guard them as they grow
Fill them with the spirit of the Universe
Fill them with Love, Beauty, Health and Healing.
So mote it be!

Now as you fill your bottle with the seeds. Visualize yourself tending your garden. Visualize your garden the way you want it to Look. See yourself working to make it look this way. (No matter how much you bless your seeds, if you don't take care of your garden. You won't get the best results). Visualize the harvest. Imagine how wonderful it will be to taste fresh veggies and herbs. Imagine the Sweet fragrance of fresh flowers. Visualize your harvest nourishing you and your family.

If you plan on preserving your harvest, see yourself doing just that. See your family enjoying the "fruits of your labor." When you have put all the seeds in the bottle, put the lid on, and seal it with wax from the brown candle. Release the circle, and keep the
bottle on your altar overnight. Keep the bottle where you can see it daily, to remind you of the joys your garden will bring you.

Early next Spring, break the seal on the bottle. Go to a wild place and scatter the seeds to the winds. As you do this, thank the Elements for their blessings. And make a new one for your next garden.
