Subject: [PantheanCommunity] Avowed Witch Hunters To Hold Harvard Conference

Anyone up for a good old fashioned protest? Cambridge MA isn't that far away.

---------------------------

Mon Mar 28, 2011 at 03:55 PM EDT
Avowed Witch Hunters To Hold Harvard Conferenceby Troutfishing
As reported today on MSNBC, a Wiccan TSA employee accused of witchcraft has been fired. As described below, listed apostles of a global evangelical movement that claims to fight witchcraft will, on April 1-2, be holding a conference at Harvard University.
While Salem has garnered all the attention, the real peak of the Massachusetts Bay Colony's witch craze was in what is now North Andover, where two dogs were tried and executed for witchcraft. It's been a few years now since witch hunting was in vogue in Massachusetts, but the upcoming Social Transformation Conference to be held at Harvard this April 1-2 could help rekindle the practice. Footage from a November 2009 evangelical conference held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village near Honolulu shows scheduled Social Transformation Conference speaker Dr. Pat Francis up onstage, her voice cracking with intensity, shouting out "In the name of Jesus we break the power, of witchcraft power, every witchcraft power, we drive you out!"
As documented in my new 14 and 1/2 minute video, four of the speakers slated for the "Social Transformation" conference, to be held at the Harvard Northwest Science building, promote the idea that witchcraft is a pressing contemporary societal concern. Three of those also claim that entire family lines can be collectively cursed because of ancestral involvement in idolatry and witchcraft.
The video demonstrates that these four conference speakers are "apostles" in a global evangelical network whose leaders appear bent on restoring a Pre-Enlightenment worldview in which believers and society are beset by demons including succubi and incubi, menaced by the conjoined threats of apostasy and idolatry, and plagued by "generational curses"--these apostles represent a Christian supremacist movement whose leaders encourage believers to cleanse the Earth of infidels and competing belief systems.
Controversy over the conference started with two pieces by Michael Jones of Change.org and Wayne Besen of Truth Wins Out. Both organizations are committed to fighting for gay rights, and many of the speakers scheduled for the upcoming conference are tied to antigay organizing and rhetoric. As Jones' story documented, some of the featured speakers slated for the conference, such as Bill Hamon, seem to advocate imposing the death penalty for homosexuality.
A hard-hitting op-ed in the Harvard Crimson published March 24 notes that while proponents of the Social Transformation conference promise it will be an "existential encounter that will renew and revive your passion to be agents of change", rhetoric from featured speakers such as Lance Wallnau clashes wildly with portrayal of the conference as inclusive.
In an October 2010 broadcast Wallnau declared, "So you've got your homosexual activity, your abortion activity here, Islam coming in, you've got a financial collapse--all of this, to those of us who are Christians, is an apocalyptic confirmation that when you remove God from public discourse, when you don't line up your thinking with kingdom principles, you inevitably hit an iceberg like the Titanic and you go down." Do the speakers for the event have the right to express their opinions? Of course, but should they be allowed to co-brand themselves with Harvard? As the Crimson explains,
"Of course, we do not dispute the value of the First Amendment and believe that Harvard can and should invite to campus any speaker it wishes. In the case of speakers who are known widely for intolerant or strongly offensive views, however, they should not be put on a pedestal--quite literally--and be allowed to take advantage of speaking under a Harvard banner and the legitimacy that banner affords naturally affords them...
By hosting a panel discussion whose participants will merely voice their opinions without being called upon to justify their past incendiary remarks, the event seems to accept incredibly offensive opinions without providing any internal challenge. In a sense, the intellectual integrity of the entire Harvard community is consequently on trial with this coming conference." [emphasis mine]
The Harvard Crimson also notes that writing by Os Hillman, another featured speaker, suggests that the inclusion of a gay character in the Harry Potter movie series "is how the frog in the kettle gets hotter and hotter until we wake up one day and realize we have totally lost the culture and we have become a nation like Sodom and Gomorrah in which God had to destroy the entire city."
But what these previous critiques have so far missed is that Os Hillman, Lance Wallnau, Pat Francis, and Bill Hamon are identifiably part of a global evangelical network that's not just in the forefront of antigay organizing globally; they are "apostles" in the International Coalition of Apostles, and all but Hillman are on the ICA's elite Apostolic Council. In addition, along with more notorious evangelical antigay figures such as Lou Engle, Cindy Jacobs, and Bishop Harry Jackson, Bill Hamon is a member of the "Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders" (here's a list of members: http://www.elijahlist.com/... ), which is a major leadership entity in the movement, collectively known as the New Apostolic Reformation. As Rachel Tabachnick explains,
The NAR was organized under the leadership of Convening Apostle C. Peter Wagner, who describes the international movement as a spontaneous Holy Spirit-inspired phenomenon which provides its followers supernatural powers for healing, prophecy, and the expulsion of demons. The leadership of this post-denominational movement seeks to bring together Charismatic evangelical Christians in order to take Christian dominion over the earth in preparation for the end times. These goals are spelled out explicitly in the books of leadership including C. Peter Wagner who formed the International Coalition of Apostles (ICA) to lead the movement...
These apostles differ from fundamentalists of the past in their belief that they can "transform" communities through Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare (SLSW), a process in which they claim to identify and purge literal demonic beings from a population in order to take Christian "dominion" over society and government. The leadership has produced a number of very slick campaigns which tout their charitable potential to overwhelmed municipalities, but the underlying agenda is Christian supremacist and founded on demonization of others."
Written as a companion story to accompany my new video, Tabachnick's story NAR Apostles' Brand of "Transformation" to be Promoted at Conference at Harvard helps explain why such a movement might have been able to infiltrate Harvard:
"As noted in previous articles, the NAR introduces their brand of transformation through charitable efforts and supposedly ecumenical prayer groups. The movement is multi-racial and includes women in positions of both apostle and prophet. At first glance many of their organizations might appear as promoting the social gospel but their message is quite the opposite. While they participate in charitable activities, societal transformation is to be a supernatural event which can only take place was the demons are expelled and society is purged of evil influences such as homosexuality, religious pluralism, and the separation of church and state."

Hi Everyone,
I put an offer in on a house today. I love the place but there is already an offer on it. If anyone could spare a littler energy toward my partner and I getting this house it would be appreciated. There have been three other offer before but each time they have fallen through. In fact one fell apart the day we went to see the property. The current offer has been made by someone without financing so there may still be hope. We made sure we secured our finiancing before we put an offer in. The living situation we are in now has become difficult. I don't want to go into the whole thing let's just say I no longer feel safe here. Any energy that anyone can send our way to help us be in a home that is safe, affordable, and right for us would be greatly appreciated.
Blessings to all,
Winterfey

Dear Cher,

Welcome to Spring, eh?  With snow??  C'mon Mother Nature, stop pulling our legs with your cruel jokes!  The snow last week was pretty, but it just seemed to add insult to injury, didn't it?  Hopefully - and I know you all agree - that was the last of it.  At least the longer daylight hours do give us hope that Spring is actually making a comeback.

I hope you'll all partake of the great classes we've got lined up for you this season.  I am just so thrilled with each and every one of the offerings.  I also have some surprises up my sleeve, so stay tuned! :-)

Be sure and check out the listings to the right for the workshops scheduled with Raven and Stephanie Grimassi, James Wanless (aka Mr. Tarot), and Christopher Penczak.  I'm very excited about them!  Please note that readings with Christopher are already booking up and spaces are very limited, so if you're interested, don't delay.  Call the store now, before you forget, to book your seat.

If you're not already connected, please click on the link below to "like" us on Facebook.  Of, if you click over to the website, there's a link there too.  Classes and reminders get posted there first, before this newsletter goes out most of the time, so if you want to be the first on your block to know what's going on here, add us to your "likes."

Hope to see you soon!

Reiki is an ancient
hands on form of healing. Originally developed by Tibetan Monks, Reiki was
brought to the Americas in the mid 1900’s and has become widely accepted in
hospitals, and is now mainstream. There are four levels of Reiki to become a
master/teacher. Reiki I is the first step in the attunements and opens the basic
healing energy chakras. Reiki I will teach the practitioner to clear themselves,
clear the client and begin the healing process.

Fw: Maggi Setti - Upcoming Events for the Light Half of the Year, No

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 29, 2011 7:11 pm (PDT)

Greetings in the time of Aries!  I for one feel the push of the Spring
getting underway.  I hope that the energy of the spring is driving you
forward toward the blessings the year has to offer you!  Hopefully
I'll see you soon.  I've got a lot going on this year and can't wait
to share it with you.  Here's the schedule.

4/9 Spring Magick
at the Delaware Peace Center in Springfield PA.  A day long ASW
intensive ending in the annual Cerrnunous ritual.  I’ll be teaching a
class on the Assembly’s First Degree.  There are other great classes
too so this is a good way for your to hear different perspectives and
meet lots of other Assembly folk.  The Cerrnunous ritual is the God
counterpart to our Hecate ritual.  www.sacredwheel.org/events

4/12 I’m offering my Green Magick class at Mystic Spirit.  $20 if paid
beforehand, $25 at the door.  Please call Mystic Spirit to register.
I almost  cancelled last month due to not enough people
preregistering.  www.mysticspirit.net

4/30  Beltane
Chalice of Living Stars (my coven) and Oak and Willow, another PA
Assembly coven is hosting an open Beltane at Ridley State Park in PA.
It is going to be awesomeâ€"really awesome!  This will be the first
public ritual with the coven’s chalice and it will be interacting with
the Oak and Willow sword so you’ll have a great opportunity to see how
the coven tools in the Assembly interact magickally.

5/3  Wicca Classes available once again at Mystic Spirit!
I’ll be leading a public Beltane at Mystic Spirit’s new location on
Bloomfield Ave as the first of a 16 week Wicca series at Mystic
Spirit.  If you did not attend my Wicca series last year, I highly
recommend you attend this class.  I probably attended Wicca 101’s
hosted by Guardians of the Windsword and other covens when I started
probably 4 times.  Ivo says that you should attend a class until you
know the material well enough to teach it.  This will be the last open
series I offer before dedicating as a coven, hopefully.  If you want
to attend some of the classes and not all of them, that would be
appropriate as well.  If you need a discounted rate, I can make a
couple of partial scholarships available.  Please speak with me so I
can work it out with Karen at the shop.  This series will run through
August!  Class topics to include:  Beltane ritual, History, Gods,
Wheel of the Year, Magick, Ethics, Sacred Space, Divination, Chakras,
Full Moon Ritual, Lammas Ritual, Qabala, Elements, Sacred Space,
Tools, Energy Work, Covens/Initiation.  http://se.sacredwheel.org

6/12 I’ll be teaching my Elemental Tattwas class at the West Chester
Wellness center in West Chester PA.

7/23 10am to 6pm.  We have special guests Lyratah Barat, the director
of New Seed Sanctuary and Helena Domenic, an Elder of the Assembly of
the Sacred Wheel offering one day workshops in Bergen county.
(location details tbd)  Lyratah will be speaking about Faith and
Discipline in the morning.  Helena will be teaching a class about the
Qabala of the Tarot in the afternoon.  Sliding scale of $25 to $60.

9/16-9/18 Fall Frolic in Milford PA.  I am excited to announce that I
am the Featured Presenter this year for Fall Frolic.  I’ll be joining
other teachers and musical guests for an inexpensive, family friendly
event.  I’ll be offering the Nature of the Wiccan Gods, Green Magick,
and a women’s Empowerment ritual and class.  This will be the first
time that I’ve offered the Women’s Empowerment ritual for the public.
Gwaeron, my husband will be leading a Men’s ritual at the same time so
be sure there will be some polarized magick happening there!

Blessings,

Maggi Setti

DailyOM - Creating a Nightly Ritual
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

March 29, 2011
A Special Goodnight
Creating a Nightly Ritual
Behind us lies the previous day and all that has come before; ahead of us, dawn heralds all that is yet to be.

At the end of the day, as the sweet, dark stillness of night beckons us to lay down our bones and rest, we find ourselves at a clear transition point: Behind us lies the previous day and all that has come before; ahead of us, dawn heralds the unfolding of all that is yet to be. While many of us have morning rituals that connect us with our center and help us to set intentions, we may want to explore the magic and power of nighttime ritual as well. It holds for us a beautiful chance for self-appreciation and blessing. Before you go to bed each night, you can send gratitude, compassion, and healing to the being you have been up until this moment. And you can send lightness and love into the future for the one you are in the process of becoming.

Though simple, this action honors the journey you have taken thus far, while opening you to the wonderful possibilities still ahead. When you consciously engage with your own evolution this way, you may find that your sleep gets sweeter, filling your night with a deeper sense of trust and relaxation. As you rest, you can surrender to these peaceful hours, knowing that the road behind you has been seen and acknowledged with respect and kindness, while the path ahead now holds your own benevolence and well wishes.

This bedtime ritual empowers you as the only one who can determine the meaning of your own past and the hopefulness of your future. By setting this special time aside each night, you can begin to orient yourself on your path of growing. It allows you to let the past have its place, to trust that the future is taken care of, and to simply rest yourself in the graceful arms of the present moment.

What's Happening Today:

2001 (Ghana): Tribal clashes are common in Northern Ghana, and people often resort to witchcraft with the hope of becoming invulnerable to weapons. For example, Aleobiga, 23, and fifteen fellow believers who purchased a "magical" potion to render them invincible to bullets.

After smearing the magical lotion over their bodies for two weeks, Aleobiga volunteered to test the spell. He stood in a clearing while his friends raised their weapons, aimed, fired...

You'd think he would have tested the spell on a non-essential body part first. Aleobiga is now roaming the Great Savannah in the sky, and the jujuman who supplied the defective magic was beaten for his failure.

Divination Party Ritual

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 29, 2011 8:25 pm (PDT)

Divination Party Ritual
Incense of the day: Musk

Hold a divination party with your magic-minded friends today. Each person should bring at least one divinatory tool: a tarot deck, a set of runes, a pendulum, or
whatever you tend to use. Make sure these are items you don’t mind
sharing for a little while. The greater variety of tools people bring,
the more magic will be generated. If you like, dress up as carnival
fortunetellers. Seat everyone around a well-lit table, and lay out the
different tools. Each person should describe the tool they broughtâ€"its
history, how it works, the pros and cons of using it. Then, exchange the tools with each other, and try your hand at someone else’s kind of
divination. Take turns reading each other’s fortunes. This is a great
way to decide what you want to acquire for your own collection.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip Marjoram Oil

Daily Aromatherapy Tip Marjoram Oil

Cool compresses made with Marjoram oil can help relieve headaches.
Add two drops of oil to a large bowl of cool water and mix it up well.
Dip a cotton cloth in the mixture, wring it out and apply it to your forehead.
Place another cool compress on the back of your neck to enhance the
effect.

Caution
Since marjoram oil may stimulate contractions and promote blood flow,
it should never be used during pregnancy. Also, the oil can
sometimes dull the senses, so it should be used only for short
periods of time. Always dilute the oil well before applying it to
the skin, since it may cause irritation in susceptible individuals.
Do Not take marjoram oil internally!

Belly Balm Stretch Mark Prevention Oil

Belly Balm
Stretch Mark Prevention Oil

This oil feels so wonderful going on. It is smooth, moisturizing and it can really help
with itching that often becomes present when our skin starts stretching.
In a double boiler melt
1 cup coconut oil
¼ cup Cocoa Butter
1/8 cup Apricot, Almond or Grapeseed Oil
1/8-cup Kukui nut oil, Shea Butter or Mango Butter ( I love using Mango Butter)

When the oils are all melted, allow it to cool and add the essential
oils and pour into another container for the mixture to be stored in.

10-20 drops Sandalwood (try to find an ethical source)
15 drops Patchouli
15 Drops Sweet Orange

You can try varying amounts of oils and types of essential oils but I
love this combination. You can also use Rosewood, Rose, Lavender,
Tangerine and Neroli.

Massage all over thighs, breasts, stomach and everywhere else that
needs nourishing and moisturizing. I have also used this on my face,
living in the Green Mountains we get frigid winds and my fair skin
often needs a protector.

Greek Dramatist Aeschylus, The Danaids

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 29, 2011 8:29 pm (PDT)

The wide blue sky wants to penetrate the earth.
The earth longs for utter union. Look: it comes!
Rains Fall. Rains fall as sky meets earth.
Rains fall. Earth bubbles with life.
Life springs forth from the damp soil:
flocks of sheep like clouds, oceans of wheat.
All gifts for earth's children. And one more:
peace. Peace that blossoms in a rain of love.
Greek Dramatist Aeschylus, The Danaids

This
is the season when new life emerges from the earth. In ancient Greek
mythology, the earth was a great mother who conceived endlessly and
effortlessly. She was so fertile she did not even need a partner in
order to procreate. But, yearning for companionship, she created the
heavens which, arching over her in love, seeded her with life.

When
spring rain falls, the earth enacts again the ancient drama of her love
and fecundity. The earth and its cloudy partner dance through the
spring, once again in love, and thus the Goddess gives birth to the riot
of flowers, the fresh blossoms of the season.

Mercury Retrograde March 30 until April 23....Are We Ready!

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 29, 2011 8:34 pm (PDT)

Mercury Retrograde March 30 until April 23....Are We Ready!

The first Mercury Retrograde of 2011 begins on March 30th at 24 Aries and will go direct on April 23rd. Use this time period to review and clarify issues already underway.

This transit invites us to slow down. Misunderstandings could occur as a result of haste. Revise how you use your power, direct your energy and take action.
Wednesday, Mar 30th, 2011 -- The forward thrust of
energy, propelled by four planets in assertive Aries, is led by
quicksilver Mercury. However, a cosmic undertow is created today as
Mercury begins its three-week retrograde phase, retracing the now
familiar territory of Aries. We're required to review old plans,
reconsider recent experiences and rethink new ideas. Frustration is
likely, but the Moon's move into dreamy Pisces at 6:38 pm EDT can soften most any disappointment

Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:42 pm (PDT)

Hello there everyone,

We know that you all have registered already, but We wanted to discuss something with you. If you haven't hurry and go to www.blueridgebeltane.org and check out what is new and/or register.  We already have a great number of people registered, but we need to turn this into the best pagan Festival experience ever.  Don't you want all your friends there with you?  Don't you want to hang out, love life, experience some workshops, participate in terrific rituals,  drum, dance and just have a great time?   And don't forget the Inner Sanctum.....  And, definitely don't forget that the campground has a lake and a restaurant.

Tell ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS, that you would want to hang out with at least.   Tell them, tell them to tell their friends and so on and so forth.  Scream it from the roof tops.

Remember, we have so many great presenters, performers, and we even have SHARON KNIGHT.   We are so excited.

We are so excited we can hardly contain ourselves.

We hope that you all are having a great spring so far, and we have it on great authority that Spring is actually coming.

Love you all and the brightest blessings,

The Blue Ridge Beltane Planning Committee
