Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Saturday, March 19
Will this be the year that the swallows return to a small adobe mission in Southern California? Many will be wondering that very same thing on this 'Swallows Return to San Juan Capistrano Day,' a time that used to represent an annual 'miracle.' Legend has it that this same time each year is when those white bellied birds would flock back to hear the mission bells ring. Since we haven't seen as much of the swallows lately, we might then still remember that today is also dedicated to St. Joseph. Anecdotes abound about people calling upon St. Joseph to help them successfully sell their real estate. They share that simply by burying a statue of St. Joseph in their yards they were able to unload and sign on the dotted line. If you're trying to sell your house or home, then bury a statue of St. Joseph, upside down or head first, in the Helpful People area of your yard and then wait to see if you can swallow the success and ease of this sale! Believe me, from everything I hear, the almost immediate results are heavenly!

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Friday, March 18

According to author Erich Segal 'Love means never having to say you're sorry,' but on 'Forgive Mom and Dad Day' that idea might take on more of a personal or even painful meaning. If you're harboring hard feelings towards one or both of your parents, why not try an ages old Feng Shui remedy to help relieve and release resentment so you can actively bring balance back in your life? First you will need to locate the Family/Friends/Ancestors area of the main floor of your living space. You'll also need a red piece of paper, a green pen, a fresh and healthy green plant and a lot of healing intention. Fold the red paper in fours and in each of the quarters or squares write in green ink the one thing that you'd like to forgive in regards to Mom, Dad or both. Whatever holds you from feeling completely free from forgiveness needs to be written inside each square. Once you've purged by pen then place that paper under the green plant where it will remain for the next 27 days. Nurture the plant and love it as you would your own child at every opportunity you have during that time. On the 27th day take the paper and burn it until it's reduced to ashes, and then let those ashes scatter in the wind. Keep the plant in the same place and continue to nurture and nourish it. This is a tremendously powerful Feng Shui forgiveness technique that takes particular aim at parents. This cure really does heal. And sometime within the next nine weeks you'll see exactly how much!

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." Teddy Roosevelt

Do you remember when you were a child and no dream seemed too big? Some of us thought we would walk on the moon; some dreamed of riding with Roy Rogers; others imagined stepping to the plate in a big-league game. Every one of us, when we were young, had a common trait: we were dreamers. The world hadn't gotten to us yet to show us that we couldn't possibly achieve what our hearts longed for. And we were yet still years from realizing that in some cases we weren't built for achieving our dream (I realized about my junior year of high school that I was too short and too slow to play professional basketball. The dreamer is always the last to know).

The Family of the Earth

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

The Family of the Earth

The World looks different to each of us. To the gorillas, the world is a vast, green forest filled with trees to climb and leaves to eat. To the lions, the world is an endless grassy plain, sometimes hot and dry, sometimes green and wet.
Snow leopards see the world as a giant mountain, cold and windy, rock and snowy.
Dolphins live in a world of water. Their world seems to go on forever, constantly changing from light to dark, warm to cold, shallow to deep.
Flowing rivers, quiet ponds, and muddy banks are the only world the hippo knows.
We all live in our own worlds. Leopards do not swim with the dolphins.
They have never seen a penguin. Lions have never climbed the towering,
windswept peaks that snow leopards call home. And yet, all these different worlds
are the same world. The earth may look differently to each of us but we share one earth.

We share the canyons and the oceans.
We share the same sky.
We share all the forests.
In the whole universe, there is only one earth.
The earth is made from stardust.
Our bodies are made from earth.
We are the earth come to life.
No matter where we live, all of us
share the same air, water, minerals, and plants of the world.
The world may look differently to each of us,
but we share the same earth.
We are the family of the earth.

Renewing the Rites of Spring

Love Each Day,
Renewing the Rites of Spring
New Worlds Issue: NW022
By: Edain McCoy

The little rituals we perform again and again throughout the cycle of the
year are the ones that give us the most joy. As we glance back at the overall
picture of our lives, these minor pleasures may not stand out in our memories,
yet they remain part of our common experience. One of these universal joys
is the first balmy day of spring when we can throw open our windows to the
gentle breeze and inhale the scent of thawing earth that heralds the coming of
warmer days.

The Rigors of Winter
In the American Midwest where I grew up, winter weather varied little. The
days were gray and depressing, the nights bitter cold. Rain often turned to
sleet, and sleet to snow; and the snow could become a smothering mountain
unmovable by any means. When the sunshine did break through, the air was still
frigid and the clear skies could drop our overnight lows into single digits.
Ice storms were not unusual either. The frozen world was attractive to look at
from the protection of a warm home, but a dangerous one in which to venture,
and it made a child like me wonder how new green growth could ever again burst
forth from the dormant trees. But, as it has since the earth was formed, the
sun always reaches a balancing point between darkness and light and the
earth turns to spring.

Being on the lookout for signs of spring's coming was a cherished childhood
custom. We looked for robins to appear in the trees, the crocuses to bloom in
our neighbor's English-style garden, and for the first hint of green buds on
our forsythia hedge.

The Dancing Squirrel
One of the strangest spring rituals I recall from childhood was feeding a
hungry squirrel who would appear on our front porch every year in early spring.

Apparently his estimate of his winter storage needs were not very good,
certainly never good enough to see him through to the growing season. He
learned my mother, brother, and I were a soft touch, as we loved animals. The brown
squirrel was thin but feisty, and would perform a little dance at our front
door to pay for his food. More amazing to us was that he never seemed to fear
us. He would take nuts and small pieces of fruit from our open palms with the
gentleness of a domestic pet. Then he would run off with his treat only to
reappear a few minutes later to dance for us again.

Since the dawn of time, the young have been eager to shed their winter wear.
In general I hated to be taken shopping, but I always looked forward to
shopping for Easter dresses and Easter Egg dyeing kits. When these began
appearing in the grocery, I knew spring's coming was near.

Easter Fairies
One of my favorite childhood books was The Children's Easter Storybook
(Ideal Publications), a gift from my grandmother on my sixth Easter. It was
stuffed full of imaginative stories and intriguing drawings of gossamer-gowned
faeries assisting nature into her own Easter finery. I believed in the faery
world with all by soul, which is why I believe I was gifted with a glimpse of
one of their spring night parties in my neighbor's garden.

Almost 40 years after that night, when Llewellyn decided to do a series of
books about these turning points of the year, I was desperate to write about
the spring equinox, sometimes referred to as Ostara or Eostre. The equinox is
not just a time for new clothing, but for a renewal of nature and our
connection with the divinity that created these cycles of renewal.

Celebrating Ostara
Whether you celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, the escape of your
ancestors from slavery in Egypt, the coming of age of a Pagan God and Goddess,
or a rededication to your chosen spiritual path, the equinox can be magical. Let
this spring transform you, to take you back to the innocent joys of childhood
as you grow to be all you were meant to be.

As I sit here typing this, he's in the kitchen scrounging through the
refrigerator for something to eat before bedtime.

It's been over a year since he's been able to do this, over a year
since he had any interest in food at all.

He'll also go on short errands with us and the other day, he went with
me to the mall to get some things done I wanted (like visiting my
favorite oriental import store and getting my hair cut and eating the
really greasy Sbarro pizza I'm not supposed to have!) A few days ago,
we went out on a wildflower identification expedition, just a short
jaunt down our little dirt road...but he came back dirty and barefoot
looking like a naughty little boy and sporting a thistle plant he
insisted on taking home to put with the other weird plants he keeps.

Once down to less than 90 pounds, he weighs about 125 now. That's
still a far cry from where he needs to be --- he's still frail and
tires easily --- but it's ever so much better than he was before his
surgery.

They'll take the staples out soon and he's already learned to use the
feeding tube himself. His liver should grow back, though it's doing
so slowly and he may still need occasional transfusions.

He's writing in his blog again, he's asked his agency for some cold
case files to review.

All of this is a HUGE improvement over the man they said we wouldn't
have by Christmas.

The odds, he beat them. Because of all of you. THANK YOU!
