An announcement about Blue Ridge Beltane....exciting

Posted by: "Jenn Hawthorne" myautumnkitty@yahoo.com   myautumnkitty

Sun Apr 3, 2011 6:45 pm (PDT)

With honor and excitement, Blue Ridge Beltane is pleased to announce two more surprise guests at this year's Beltane festival. Authors, teachers and long-time activists in bringing awareness and legitimacy of Wicca and paganism as a religion to the public forum, Gavin and Yvonne Frost are joining us in the Blue Ridge--they will be doing two teen workshops and even a book signing and discussion.

Gavin and Yvonne have not only authored many books--they helped win recognition of Wicca as an official religion in the eyes of the IRS and federal appeals courts. Their tireless efforts to teach about important Wiccan tenets, ethics and principles, as well as spread understanding of this too often misunderstood spiritual path, have helped bring continuity to pagan communities.

It's because of the work of witches like Gavin and Yvonne that we can even have a public festival and promote and attend it freely, which is why we are extremely honored to have them join us for this year's Beltane festivities. It is with great pride that we carry on the legacy that they and others of their neo-pagan generation started.

If you haven't already registered for what's shaping up to be a historic Blue Ridge Beltane festival, visit www.BlueRidgeBeltane.org right away to sign up, get a discount off the gate price, and learn more about our workshops, entertainment (including Sharon Knight and Telling Point) and fabulous and unique vendors.

Bright blessings,
Blue Ridge Beltane Committee

New Moon

Good time to spells for:

beginning, birth, emergence, projection, clarity. It is the time in a cycle that you are stimulated to take a new action. During this phase the new cycle is being seeded by your vision, inner and outer. Engage in physical activity. Spend time alone. VISUALIZE your goals for the 29.6-day cycle ahead. New Moon workings can be done from the day of the new moon to three-and-a-half days after. The new moon is for starting new ventures, new beginnings. Also love and romance, health or job hunting.

The beginning of a new cycle.  The first phase of moon's orbit around the earth....it is between the sun and the earth so from the earth they rise and set together...thus we cannot see the reflection  as it faces the sun..at the 12 o'clock position..This time is used for personal growth or a time for healing....also a time to consecrate new tools.....to be used in upcoming ceremonies

Feast of Ma'at: the Judge of Souls, marking the last day of the Egyptian high holidays. It is said that Thoth's understanding of mathematics as a principle of civil and universal order was inspired by Ma'at. - Egypt

Four-Day Thunder Ceremony: Celebrated by the Iroquois of North America, held in thanksgiving for the Spring rains

Rome: Festival of Good Luck - celebrated to petition blessings from the Goddess Fortuna, the goddess of luck. Her symbols arewings, the Moon, a cornucopia, and a ship's rudder.

China: Festival of Kuan Yin the goddess of mercy, kindness, and forgiveness.

Chi'ng Ming or Qingming: The 3,000 year-old Asian festival to commemorate ancestors, also called Qing Ming Jie, literally meaning clear and bright. Confucius stated: "Filial piety is the law of the universe, the righteousness on

earth, and the correct path of human behavior," and true to this tradition, ancestors are honored and graves are cleaned on this day in early spring, the 106th day after the winter solstice.

Ancestor worship is based on three basic assumptions: that all fortune, good or bad, is influenced by the spirits of ancestors; that all departed ancestors still have the same physical needs they had when alive; and that the departed can

assist their relatives in the "Outer World". It is considered unlucky to conduct important business on this day, or have an operation. Unhappy spirits, especially those with unfinished business, wander the earth at this time.

There is a legend about the origins of the "cold food" festival, which takes place on the eve of Qing Ming.

Tomb-Sweeping Day - The Chinese respect for filial piety and careful attention to funeral rites is visibly manifested in the custom of ancestor worship. And since ancient times, a day has been designated for sweeping the tomb and honoring one's ancestors. Though different in each family, these rites are usually performed on the first few days prior to or following Ching Ming, one of the traditional solar divisions falling in early April, when the frost retreats and spring returns bringing renewal to all living things. In 1935, the government of the Taiwan designated Ching Ming as Tomb Sweeping Day to further heighten the significance of this occasion.

An Empath's Emergency Kit

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

An Empath's Emergency Kit

Empathy is a gift. Well, I should state
that developing skills in empathy can be a gift. While it is good that we can
sense the emotions and issues of other people, we can also inadvertently absorb
the emotions and issues of others. We may walk away from a conversation feeling
angry and not know why. We may pass a stranger and then feel suddenly exhausted
without apparent reason. One of the skills that you build as an empath is the
ability to discern what issues belong to you and what issues you have absorbed
from others. Once discerned, you will want to cleanse this other
"issue" from your energy. Carry a black tourmaline. When you notice
a sudden emotion or feeling that appears without reason, visualize it draining
into the tourmaline. "Neutralize" this energy by storing your
tourmaline in a container filled with rock or sea salt.

Greek Dramatist Euripides

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Apr 3, 2011 9:15 pm (PDT)

Look what the Goddess does when she is sad:
she takes up a tambourine, made of taut skin
and rimmed with castanets of brass,
and she begins to dance. The sound of flutes
blares out wildly, reaching even to the depths
of the underworld, so loud, so clamorous is it.
Look what the goddess does when she is sad:
she finds the wildness in herself, and as she does,
she finds that there is joy there too.
~Greek Dramatist Euripides

It is in our wild natures that we find the truest happiness. Within each of us is an untamed and unmapped land, a place of power and solitude. In the busyness of our daily lives, this wilderness is forgotten. We fill our moments with the demands of the mundane world. Yet however successful we are, we yearn for something more, something different, We yearn to feel the power of Goddesses crashing through us, beating in our veins.

It is in music and dance that we most vividly feel the movement of the Goddess energy within us. When we do not dance, we fall away from direct experience of her. Watch the flight of birds, the free gallop of the horse, the slow fierce movement of a cat. Animals, even the wildest of them, do not neglect to play. Not every swoop of a gull is an effort  to find food; some is for the sheer joy of swooping. Why should we be different? We need dance, we need play, as much as does the eagle or the hawk. Within the wildness of our moving bodies, we will find the joy within our souls.

Today's Goddess : Aherah Sizdar Bedah (Iran)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Apr 3, 2011 9:17 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess : Aherah
Sizdar Bedah (Iran)

Themes: Luck; Health; Blessings; Wisdom; Divination
Symbols: A Wooden Pole; Brick

About
Aherah: Aherah is the Phoenician/Mesopotamian Mother of all Wisdom and
Proprietress of Universal Law. On this day she offers her prospective on
the present and future to begin settling the first quarter of the year
sagaciously.

In Iranian stories, Aherah could walk on water, gave
birth to over seventy deities, and taught people the arts of carpentry
and brick building.

To Do Today: On this day the festival of
Sizdar Bedah is part of the new year festivities in Iran. Follow Iranian
tradition and generate Aherah's fortuitous, healthy energy in your life
by going on a picnic (or have one in the living room if the weather
doesn't cooperate, but leave the windows open). It is bad luck to stay
inside today! Or, to make a spring wish, toss any type of spring water
sprouts in water while focusing on your goal. If it is meant to be, the
wish will manifest before the next Sizdar Bedah. The alternative to
sprouts is any newly sprouting seed, which should be planted afterward
to encourage the magic to grow.

For wisdom, find a small piece of
wood or brick to represent Aherah. Lie down and meditate with the token
over your third eye (located in the middle of the forehead and reputed
to be a psychic center), visualizing purple light pouring through it.
Chant:

Aherah abide in me;
with your wisdom let me see!

Carry the token when you need to act judiciously.

DEEP SKY AURORAS: A solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field over the weekend, sending a wave of "deep sky auroras" over northern-tier US states.  The lights were pale-white or even invisible to the naked eye, but digital cameras revealed spectacular colors and luminous shapes above Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and elsewhere.  Visit http://spaceweather.com for images and more information about this phenomenon.

A two year program in Shamanism, for April, Manchester NJ

A two year program in Shamanism

Hello Fellow Lightworkers

This week I will be sending out applications for the next 2-year program 'The Art of Shamanism". The program will be starting in April. We will be meeting once-a-month for two years. The dates will be determined by the participates and the convenience of all.

This program is based upon the Ancient Knowledge and Understanding of our Spiritual Selves and the Worlds around, within and beyond ourselves. The first year will be a time to explore who and why… to create a foundation in which all things exist…. answering life questions and being connected as a Spiritual
Being.

The second year will bring this knowledge together with applications of healing, transcendental experiences, and a deeper knowledge of yourself.

This program is based upon the Ancient Knowledge of a Family Lineage and Ancient Understandings of our Truisms.

Applications should be received as soon as possible. Due to the depths of this program's experience, the group will be limited to the number of participants.

A $60 non-refundable deposit will be necessary with application. If accepted, the deposit will be applied to the last months tuition. If not accepted, your check will be returned.

If you are interested or know of someone interested, please email me your address as the application and information will be sent by mail and not email.

thank-you so much… I hope to have the honor of sitting with you in this very special circle…

Many blessings,

Sad News...Pagan Odyssy Fest Beltaine Conn Canceled this year

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Apr 3, 2011 9:55 pm (PDT)

Sad News...Pagan Odyssy Fest Beltaine Conn Canceled this year

Beltaine: A Pagan Odyssey FestivalReminder that the festival is canceled for this year - some people missed the
email and the note. It's the very first time we have ever canceled.
Update on Beltaine, the temple, and me

Sorry everyone, but Beltaine 2011 is canceled for this year. We will
focus instead on building 2012 into another festival worthy of the name
'Pagan Odyssey.'   There are lots of reasons – I had thought we could do a smaller Beltaine festival, but even tha...t would be too much at this point. The economy, the need to rebuild the
temple, and my own personal life has taken priority.   In October, I
lost my mural painting job abruptly, and I have been skating on thin ice financially ever since. I have occasional freelance graphic design
work, but it is sporadic and not enough to live on. I can't very well
try to put together even a small festival when I am scrambling for work
just to stay afloat. If anyone is interested in my art, graphic design,
commissions or in having a reading – now would be a good time to do make arrangements. As I have not worked for an employer for six years until
recently, I do not have unemployment. As you all know, the temple does
not support me. As soon as I have a regular income, I will be supporting it once again.   The recession has really done a number on both the
temple and myself. People haven't been donating like they used to, and
even some of our personal sponsors for the festival can't help this
year. There were only a handful of preregistrations – and everyone who
did will receive a two-year family pass for the festival and a phone
call from me.   On another level, everyone always assumes the work for
the festival just magically happens without their efforts. For those of
you who honestly are willing to take on real responsibility of the
festival for next year, please contact me, and join the Pagan Odyssey
yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PaganOdyssey/). Do not volunteer if there is any chance you will drop the ball – this
has happened far too frequently in the past.   Our little television
show will continue, and we could use a few extra hands with that as
well. Training is free, looks really spiffy on a resume, and comes with a personal letter of reference from me if you join the crew and commit to doing a good job. No talent required, just willing hands.   Since I was forced to close the store, were have not had a regular location for the temple other than my apartment. I have been teaching privately, and am
intent on transforming our outer court coven into a working coven, and
that also means that the people I can depend on will eventually be doing public training and teaching. Although I still might accept a student
or two this year, I am only training those who intend on becoming
priesthood, and training those few people well.   I also can't afford at my age to continue taking career hits as sacrifice to the temple – and
this means my role within the temple must change. I hope you all
understand.   Our next public sabbat will likely be Midsummer.
Blessings, Rev. Alicia See More
