Have you stepped outside lately and truly connected with the Earth?
Have you walked barefoot in the green grass?
Slip off your shoes and feel the coolness of the grass below your
feet... feel life growing right there beneath you and all around you.
Take in the fresh spring air.
Sit quietly in the presence of new birth. The Earth is waking up from
winter's nap and life is growing all around you.. have you stopped, if
only for a moment to take it in?
It's good for the mind, body and soul to take a break from the busy and
chaotic day to day life we all live..
Take some time to slow your pace and take in the beauty that surrounds
us ... Spring is a magical time of year when all life begins anew.
Sleeping buds awaken to the warm spring air .. Nests and dens are
filled with new life and the Earth is painted in new shades of color.
Take some time today to connect.

A Legacy of Love
Leaving the Earth a Better Place
From our first breath here to our very last, we will find infinite opportunities to influence our environment for the better.
We inherit this great planet from our parents and from the generations that came before. Then, in concert with the surrounding culture, our elders teach us how to care for the land and the sea, ourselves and each other. They model ways of being in relationship with every other expression of life on earth. But whether they act with care or carelessness, compassion or cruelty, generosity or greed, we have the ability to choose our own individual way of relating with the planet and her inhabitants. From our first breath here to our very last, we will find infinite opportunities to influence our environment for the better. We can decide now to act with intention in order to leave this amazing planet brighter and more beautiful than when we arrived.
If we enjoy environmental activism, we might feel moved to clean up beaches or to plant trees. But, we need not feel limited in our ability to contribute positively. There are many ways to leave a legacy of love. We might begin by radiating affirmative thoughts and feelings about how magnificent the earth truly is. We might create and tend a special garden, one that provides an abundance of food and herbs for ourselves and our loved ones. Or we might create a garden filled with sweet smelling flowers to uplift our hearts. We might even honor the earth simply by trying to be the best person we can be while we are here. Such good will can have a domino effect, inspiring others to contribute in their own way as well.
We spend our lifetimes being nourished and enlivened by the rain, sun, soil and wind. Our experience is blessed by other living beings, from plants to insects to birds and humans. We receive so much; giving back just naturally feels good. When we live our lives with intention of leaving this temporary home a better place for generations to come, we are perhaps leaving behind the best gift of all.

and how can we reconcile myth with your own spirituality/religion?

Festival of the Goddess of Mercy (China/Japan)
Themes: Children; Kindness; Magic; Health; Fertility
Symbols: Lotus; Black Tea; Rice; Rainbow
About Kwan Yin: Kwan Yin is the most beloved of all Eastern goddess figures, giving freely of her unending sympathy, fertility, health, and magical insight to all who ask. It is her sacred duty to relieve suffering and encourage enlightenment among humans. In Eastern mythology, a rainbow bore Kwan Yin to heaven in human form. Her name means "regarder of sounds," meaning she hears the cries and prayers of the world.
To Do Today: If you hope to have children or wish to invoke Kwan Yin's blessing and protection on the young ones in your life, you can follow Eastern custom and leave an offering for Kwan Yin of sweet cakes, lotus incense, fresh fruit, and/or flowers. If you can't find lotus incense, look for lotus-shaped soaps at novelty or import shops.
For literal or figurative fertility, try making this Kwan Yin talisman: During a waxing-to-full moon, take a pinch of Black Tea and a pinch of rice and put them in a yellow cloth, saying,
As a little tea makes a full cup, so may my life be full.
As the rice expands in warm water, so may my heart expand with love and warmth.
The fertility of Kwan Yin, wrapped neatly within.
Tie this up and keep it in a spot that corresponds to the type of fertility you want (such as the bedroom for physical fertility).

Incense of the day: Gardenia
Place pictures of your ancestors and those who have passed and are important to you in a circle on an altar table.
Light a candle in the northern corner of the table. Light some incense, clear your mind, and say:
Here I see the line of love,
Stretching down from above.
Kinsmen whose love never leaves,
Protect me in my time of need.
Place a photo of yourself in the middle of the table. See the circle of love
around you and know you are blessed. Blow out the candle and imagine the smoke from this and the incense carrying your wishes to your kin. Today is tomb-sweeping day in Taiwan. Further honor your ancestors by tending their graves or keeping their memories alive by writing their stories
for the generations to come.

How loving are the prayers humans have offered to their Goddesses! In every century, on every continent, people have revered an image of a kindly, loving woman. She is a Mother Goddess but she is a sister and lover as well. She is a queen or a priestess, a maiden or a crone. But each of these images is a partial one; no one figure captures all the aspects of the divine feminine. Even as powerful a figure as the Lithuanian sun goddess Saule does not exhaust the possibilities of feminine power, in that land, other Goddesses also shone in the light of the female sun, all radiating their special powers.
What would it be like today to live in a world where such feminine power was recognized and loved? Today, strong women are as often reviled as honored. Young women are stalked when they should be protected. Mothers, and their children, live in squalor and poverty. Each time we invoke the Goddess, we strengthen her presence within ourselves, and thus within this world.
