GAIA:

I think there are times and circumstances (for example, when someone is
first learning or beginning their study/ practice) when it is most
appropriate and *wiser* to learn and work consistently with a single
Pantheon, Tradition, system, etc --

It's very easy to get very confused just trying to learn a particular
system, pantheon, or whatever -- Many beginners report this, even when
they're just trying to learn (for example) a particular Pantheon, set
of magickal correspondences, etc. The complications (and opportunities
to get confused and frustrated) are multiplied exponentially, with each
pantheon, system, set of correspondences, or whatever - that is added.

Also, i'd like to quote from Ellen Cannon Reed's "The Heart of Wicca" ,
which explains:

Why do we feel a consistent pantheon is useful? - Because it gives us
continuity; because we will develop personal relationships with each of
them. We will come to know the presence and "feel" of each of them, come
to know who they are, and they will come to know us. And Because the
symbolism connected
with these Gods and Goddesses will become part of us, and so will the
Gods and Goddesses.

We will come to know them and ourselves better. We will connect with and
attune to that universe of which we are all a part. We will work to make
our Will the same as theirs. We will learn from them, from their myths,
from their presence.

We call on them out of love, not just to figure out what they're "for"
as some do. In return, they have given us their presence in our lives,
and words cannot describe the value of that gift. There is no way to
describe the difference in "feel" between calling a deity you know only
as a name, and speaking to one you have come to know. I can only tell
you it is worth every bit of effort you have to make.

Once you have developed personal relationships with the deities with
whom you have chosen to work (or that have chosen you), you will never
again see the Divine as an amorphous ball of energy, see a Goddess as
simply an abstract idea or a representation of some kind of natural
force, or see the God and Goddess as simply two kinds of being....."

(End quote - Ellen Cannon Reed, "The Heart of Wicca", "Deities")

> Now that the issue of deities is cleared up lets get on to another
issue. Cultural eclecticism. I draw from many cultures as do many
eclectics.

GAIA:

AGain, i think that *may* be possible and appropriate -- as long as
this is done *respectfully* and with careful attention to the *actual*,
authentic beliefs, principles and practices of those cultures -- as well
as the feelings of those indigenous to those cultures -

> Is there a right way to do eclecticism?

GAIA:

I believe there is:

a) *responsibly*, intelligently, respectfully;

b) with a great deal of study and research into the history and nature
of each element, system, pantheon, (or whatever) that is "used" or
added;

c) with careful attention to whether those elements "go / work"
together (metaphysically) with each other,

d) with careful attention to how each element is added to the practice.

NIGHTSHADE:

Eclecticism is not the easy way out. Anyone who says this or is
practicing it like this is unlikely to grow on their path and thus will
reap what they sow.

GAIA:

Agreed!

Could you possibly please provide the (exact) copyright notation (ie

Gay Mystic interconnectedness Great Rite

Gay Mystic interconnectedness
sacred equality and harmony,
Sacred Masculinity with in the Divine Feminine.

The physical and metaphysical journey into the `otherworld'

The physical manifestation of the
Sacred Masculinity and Feminine.
In all of us.

ancient sites and stone circles
are physical manifestation of the worship of the Ancient Gods
reflects the longing to find balance and harmony within

the balance of the Sacred Feminine
and Sacred Masculine within and without.

The Goddess In The Man,
The God In The Woman
men can and do invoke Goddess energy,
Woman can and do invoke God energy

The deities themselves,
split-gender deities and same sexual relations of "gods
the satyr-god Pan
the lovers Pan and Daphnis
Old Pan, the shepherds' god,
Pan preyed sexually upon nymphs and boys
Pan, meaning 'All Things'
Pan is infamous for his sexual seductive powers

The Great Rite
the miracle of love between two people.
it is simply part of nature
conducted as a physical act
in honoring the Great Spirits.
a very beautiful and powerful event

the Great Rite the union interconnectedness
of the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine
Linking the sexual act with divine forces.
as we become the embodiment God
as we become the embodiment Goddess.

Pan, the phallic deity
at your temple
the Sacred Prostitution stands
as holy practitioners;

Go to the temple and with an offering
to the Gods request service
of a Sacred Prostitution
the union of Deities.

honored experiences even to all
even if the union didn't yield a child.

Do not denied your sexual source of magikal power
the of pleasure between partners.
The Great Rite
The rite of sexual intercourse
the actual physical act of two lover.

the The Rite of Pan
Sacred Masculinity is strong on the earth/physical sphere,
Divine Feminine is equally strong on the above/spiritual sphere.
