Westerners are familiar with (female) moon goddesses. Our word lunar, as
in the lunar cycle of full, crescent, and new moons, comes from the
feminine Latin Luna . This seems natural because of the association of
the lunar month and the female menstrual cycle, but not all societies
envision the moon as a woman. In the Bronze Age, the East, from Anatolia
to Sumer and Egypt, had (male) moon gods [Source: "The Myth of Europa
and Minos," by P. B. S. Andrews. Greece & Rome , Vol. 16, No. 1
(Apr., 1969), pp. 60-66]. Here are some of the moon gods and moon
goddesses of major ancient religions.

1. Arma Nationality: Hittite

Moon God

Arma is the name of a Hittite lunar personification whom some think is connected with the Greek god Hermes.

Reference: "Hittite Ritual at Sardis," by Noel Robertson. Classical Antiquity , Vol. 1, No. 1 (Apr., 1982), pp. 122-140.

. 2. Artemis

ArtemisClipart.com

Nationality: Greek

Moon Goddess

In Greek mythology, the sun god was originally Helios (whence words like
heliocentric for our sun-centered solar system) and the moon goddess
Selene, but over time, this changed. Artemis came to be associated with
Selene, just like Apollo with Helios. Apollo became a sun god and
Artemis became the goddess of the moon.

3. Bendis

Nationality: Thracian

Moon Goddess

Bendis was a goddess of the moon and hunt, associated by the Greeks with Artemis.

4. Coyolxauhqui

Nationality: Aztec

Moon Goddess

Coyolxauhqui means "Golden Bells." Coyolxauhqui is the sister of the Sun god, Huitzilopochtli.

5. Diana

Nationality: Roman

Moon Goddess

6. Heng-O

Nationality: Chinese

Moon Goddess

Heng-O was the mother of the 12 moons and 10 suns.

8. Khons/Khonsu

Nationality: Egyptian

Moon God

Amen's consort was Mut. Together they had a son, Khons or Khonsu the
moon god. His name means "the wanderer." He may have been believed to be
capable of flying.

Other Egyptian moon gods:

Thoth

Osiris

Min

Duau

Shu and Khnum are also associated with the moon.

9. Mawu

Nationality: African, Dahomey

Moon Goddess

Also spelled Maou. Female.

10. Mên

Nationality: Phrygian, Western Asia Minor

Moon God Male

Mên is a Phrygian lunar god also connected with fertility, healing, and
punishment. Characteristically, Men is depicted with the points of
crescent moons on his shoulders. He wears a Phrygian cap. Mên carries a
pine cone or patera in his outstretched right hand and rests his left
upon a sword or lance.

Aragonite

Aragonite

Written and compiled by - Patricia Jean Martin

Aragon, Spain is where Aragonite was first discovered and from where the
mineral gets its name. Aragonite, also called Tchazar Crystal, is a
common carbonate mineral. It is unfortunately often thought of as the
poor cousin to calcite. But aragonite is an interesting and attractive
mineral in its own right. It forms interesting habits and can have a
soft pretty color. Its modes of formation and relationship to calcite
are both curious and intriguing.

Aragonite is a polymorph of calcite, which means that it has the same
chemistry as Calcite but it has a different structure, and more
importantly, different symmetry and crystal shapes. Aragonite's more
compact structure is composed of triangular carbonate ion groups (CO3),
with a carbon at the center of the triangle and the three oxygens at
each corner. Unlike in Calcite, the carbonate ions do not lie in a
single plane pointing in the same direction. Instead they lie in two
planes that point in opposite directions; destroying the trigonal
symmetry that is characteristic of Calcite's structure.

Aragonite's most famous crystal habit is the twinned pseudo-hexagonal
prismatic crystals that it produces. Twinning is the result of an error
during the growth of the crystal. It occurs when the atomic layer
stacking, in a sequence such as ABCABCABCABCABCABC etc, makes a mistake
and a C layer instead of a B layer is place next to an A layer. The
result is an ABCABCABCACBACBACBA stacking sequence (can you pick out the
mistake?). Where the mistake occurs, a mirror plane is produced that
was not there before (the left side is the mirror image of the right
side). This has the effect of increasing the apparent symmetry of the
crystal. The "error" in Aragonite's structure causes a bend in the
crystal of exactly 120 degrees. If three bends or twins occur, then a
360 degree crystal, called a cyclic twin or trilling, can form. In this
case, Aragonite can appear hexagonal (six sided). These crystals can
be thought of as a "triple siamese twin" where one crystal takes up one
third (or 120 degrees) of a hexagon.

Aragonite is also a constituent of many sea creatures' shell structures;
a curious development since Calcite is the more stable form of calcium
carbonate. Most bivalve animals and corals secrete Aragonite for their
shells and pearls are composed of mostly Aragonite. The pearlization
and iridescent colors in sea-shells such as Abalone and Mother of Pearl
are made possible by several minute layers of Aragonite. Other
environments of formation include hot springs deposits, cavities in
volcanic rocks, caves and mines.

General Information:

*Chemistry: CaCO3, Calcium Carbonate

*Class: Carbonates

*Group: Aragonite

*Color: Can be white or colorless or with subdued shades of yellow, orange, gold, brown, green and even blue.

*Luster: Vitreous to dull.

*Crystal System: Orthorhombic, 2/m 2/m 2/m

*Crystal Habit: Columnar or fibrous. Twinned pseudo-hexagonal
prismatic crystals. Twinning is the result of an "error" during the
growth of the crystal. Instead of a "normal" single crystal, twins will
often appear doubled where two appear to be growing out of or into each
other. Can also include a diverse assortment of thin elongated
prismatic, curved bladed, steep pyramidal (spiked) and chisel shaped
crystals. A branching tree, coral or worm-like delicate form is called
"flos ferri". Can also be compact, granular, radially fibrous and
massive. Its massive forms can be layered, coralloid, pisolitic,
oolitic, globular, stalachtitic and encrusting. Aragonite is a
constituent of many species' shell structures. A layered sedimentary
marble like formation is called Mexican Onyx and is used for carvings
and ornamental purposes. Calcite pseudomorphs of aragonite crystals
and formations are common.

*Cleavage: Distinct in one direction - pinacoidal.

*Fracture: Subconchoidal

*Hardness: 3.5 - 4

*Specific Gravity: 2.9+ (average for non-metallic minerals)

*Streak: White

*Other Characteristics: Transparent to translucent. Aragonite
effervesces easily in cold dilute hydrochloric acid, is strongly
birefringent, is fluorescent and its refractive index is 1.7

*Notable Occurrences: Aragon, Spain (its type locality and from where
it gets its name); Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia; Morocco; Bastennes, France;
Girgenti, Sicily; Alston Moor and Cleator Moor, Cumberland, England;
Baja California, Mexico (Mexican Onyx); Tsumeb, Namibia; Carinthia,
Austria; Leadhills, Scotland; Harz Mountains, Germany and in several
localities in the Southwestern United States.

*Best Field Indicators: Crystal habits, single plane of cleavage and reaction to acid.

*Uses: Minor constituent of Limestone which is used in cement and in
steel production, ornamental carvings and as mineral specimens.

Myths and Lore:

Aragonite enhances ones patience and helps one to "maintain" comfortably
during conditions requiring the acceptance of an abundance of
responsibilities. When consciously directed, it can help one to achieve
a stricter discipline, strengthening reliability and practicality. It
can provide insight into the basis of a problem on the physical plane
along with stimulating communication on the higher planes. Aragonite
centers and is popular in its use for meditation.

A reliable earth-healer, Aragonite is attuned to Gaia. This stone
transforms geopathic stress and clears blockages even at a distance. It
stabilizes the Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras, deepening the
connection between Earth and Self.

Metaphysical Properties:

Astrological Sign: Capricorn, Cancer.

Sacral, Solar Plexus, Brow Chakras.

Astral Travel.

Meditation.

Centering.

Energy enhancing.

Uplifting.

Spiritual growth.

Self worth.

Calms and soothes.

*Gives physical aid in treating: Depression. Chronic fatigue. Hair
loss; skin disorders. Helps with deficiencies in Vitamins A and D.
Combats chills and outer limb aches and pains.

*NOTE: Stone therapy should NOT take the place of medical evaluation
and procedures, and should be used merely to enhance one's health and
well-being.

My own thoughts and experiences:

When I'm feeling any sort of stress or anxiety, one of my favorite stone
pendants to reach for is my heart-shaped Aragonite. A soft, light
creamy yellow stone (actually one of my very favorite colors) that lends
its ability to calm whatever is bothering you and inevitably tempers
your mood. Reminiscent of that soft yet bright morning glow in the East
when all is still quiet and yet on the verge of awakening, Aragonite
brings that same bright and vivid glow into the pit of your being. It
also, within moments of use, will bring that very soft, quiet smile.

Using the darker orange-brown hexagonal crystal variety of Aragonite,
you may find that it raises your vibration, making you more physically
aware of your Higher Self, while at the same time helping you to stay in
tune with the Earth Spirits so that you may better connect the two.
Use this form of the stone to bring encounters with the Fey, especially
those of woodland type.

While sitting in a favorite spot of the garden or walking gently through
the woods in an area that seems especially quiet and somehow more vivid
to you, hold your Aragonite crystal in the palm of your projective hand
and chant these words (or words of your own), letting your breath sweep
through and past the stone's facets:

Good faerie, sprite and woodland gnome,

I beckon you come from your home,

Come dance for me and show your face,

In this fair serene protected space.

End.

Abraham Hicks Daily Quote - 11/14/2010

Your improved state of emotion will not be limited only to the 15
minutes that you are participating in the guided meditation, but will
extend into many of your other waking moments. When you make a
decision to look for positive aspects in the experience that is unfolding
right now, you will create an expectation that will allow an immediate
manifesting of evidence to support that Vibrational shift. In other
words, the more you look for positive aspects of your current life, the
more positive aspects will step forward to reveal themselves to
you.During your 15-minute guided meditation process, you will
have found a way to feel abundance without the need to see evidence of it.
But, over time, you will be able to see what you were not able to see
before. And with a bit more time, you will become completely expectant of
good things to come into your experience. The fastest way to
bring more wonderful examples of abundance into your personal experience
is to take constant notice of the wonderful things that are already
there. The abundance that you allow is always a perfect match to your
expectation.

The Fox

Charm
Intuition          Anticipation

Take
a deep breath and let the spirit of the fox fill you.

Click here to Listen to the Fox's Song.

Ah, how
fortunate you are to have fox power within you.  Beautiful and clever, the fox
will help you move through life with grace and ease, attracting others with your
charm and intuitively sensing how to act, even when surrounded with newness.
Just breathe in fox power and you will instantly feel grace and confidence
flowing through you, guiding you to the right thing to say and do in every
circumstance.  For you are the fox.

But when you
want to be left alone, the fox will lend you her great powers of camouflage,
letting you blend into the background at will, where you can observe unseen,
taking it all in and keeping it to yourself.  You have both of these powers:  to
attract confidently or to blend invisibly.   The choice is completely yours.

The fox will
fill you with her sharp intuition, so that you sense what is coming down the
path before it can even be heard or seen.  With the fox within you, you will be
able to anticipate, knowing when to lie low and let things silently pass by,
when to step forward and engage, and when to run like the wind, feeling the
freedom of foreknowledge and deep connection with all that is.

And safe at
home, her gentle caring nature will fill you, as you devote yourself to your
loved ones and know the true courage of deep and compassionate love.

You are
love, beauty and grace.  You are the fox.

Quado's Garden: Connect to Nature

Connect to Nature

Today, spend
a few moments with nature and let peace build inside you.  Spend a few moments
just standing under a tree and breathing in the fresh oxygen that this tree is
giving you as a gift of life.  Look closely at a leaf and marvel at the infinite
detail that is there presented, even in the most lowly and common of objects
that nature has wrought.  Marvel at the little veins and how each leaf is
unique; there is only one in the entire world like the one in your hand.
Infinite detail and infinite variety, this is life.

And you are a part of all
this. You and the tree exchange air, you share the same earth, you are part of a
living breathing organism that is closely tied together.

There is a deep well of
peace within you and it extends down into the earth and up into the heavens.
Nature is a wonderful way to connect to that well of peace and the infinity
which is contained within each moment that you allow to be only as it is.  Each
moment that you spend just being in the moment, not in the future with its
worries, not in the past with its regrets, but right now and only now, reaches
into infinity and oneness and contains all that is.

Let nature be a gateway to
that connection, for the tree lives only now, the grass grows only now, the
clouds are as they are in this moment for this moment only.  Allow yourself time
to reach all of this, to be one with all of this.  Allow yourself the grace to
be one with the wonder that surrounds you.

'May we live in peace without weeping. May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing. And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating.'   The Universal Heart Center   http://www.freewebs.com/moshayra

Hey Tommy,
Just wanted to say "job well done" on the big Drums from Heaven event for Dorothy. What a great turnout of really nice people. I hope I get to see some of the pics, and I would love a copy of the DVD when you get around to it. Afterwards, a visit to the diner, and then following Dorothy to her dad's house, we stayed up to around 3:30am talking and catching up on life. We had a late breakfast on Saturday and then I headed back to CT. It was great to see you and be part of the evening. I'll have to visit another time. Take care my friend.

Peace & rhythm,
Randy

Hello Bro
Thank you for the email and acknowledgements. It was our pleasure to share with you and your faithful crowd for this laudable cause. Just one week before that concert two of my dancers lost their mother to breast caner, so it was our deep feelings to be part of this important event that will hopefully help Dorothy.
Musically and personally, I do these fund raising events like this too and I will like to collaborate with you in the near future for such programs. I am very glad to have met you and my doors are always open anytime you need me. Thank you again and the in spirit of music and drum, barka.

Tom, Outstanding job! We had a fantastic night. Only you could bring so many people together for an event because your focus is always unique: to teach, to inspire and to give. It was inspirational to the whole drumming community to see so many professionals and so many facilitators together under one roof--willing to lead and teach all of us the many languages of the drum. They give freely of their talent and time to help support whatever cause you are promoting and to further build the drum community. Kudos to you, the guru who builds the foundation of an event and special thanks to all who make the event a huge success!!

We wish Dorothy complete victory over her illness and many years of life and joy.

Goddess  Of The Day  :   Pukkeenegak Asking Festival (Alaska)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:34 am (PST)

Goddess Of The Day : Pukkeenegak
Asking Festival (Alaska)

Themes: Kinship, Community, Thankfulness, Charity, Kindness
Symbols: Tattoos

About Pukkeenegak: This Inuit Goddess presides over all household and community affairs. As a mother figure,
she watches kindly over her children, making sure we have clothing and food. Art shows her with a tattooed face,
boots, and a lovely dress befitting the patroness of seamstresses.

To Do Today: Among the Inuit, this is a time when youths go door to door gathering foods for a huge community
feast. Afterward, people petition one another for gifts -exchanging the entire community's goods in the spirit of
thanksgiving. So, orchestrate a gathering of people of a like mind for a potluck dinner at which Pukkeenegak
is guest of honor (leave a space for her).

Wear special clothing today that reflects the Goddess's gift with needle and thread. Or organize a clothing drive
so people can donate items they no longer need to a charitable cause. This way the Goddess can bless each
person each person who receives one of those garments with her providence!

I you have found your home or heart tense lately, invoke Pukkeenegak's unifying, steadying energy by drawing
an emblem of peace over your heart chakra or on the back of your hand (use non-toxic marker or body paint)
Leave it there until it naturally wears off,by which time the magic should show signs of manifesting.

A Rite For Mother Earth

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:35 am (PST)

A Rite For Mother Earth

This isn't a spell. It's a magical ritual designed to give energy back to the Earth. You may use it or not
as you wish.Light no candles. Burn no incense. Go to the wilds to perform this..., a place far from the haunts
of humans. If this is impossible, work this rite in you place of magic. There, have ready a potted plant or four
plain stones. (Don't use mined quartz crystals.)

Sit on the ground. Place your hands onto the dirt beneath you ( or onto the plant or stones, if inside).
Visualize the Earth from space as a blueish-white sphere of positive, whole, healed energy. Experience it
as a living organism. When you're ready, say these or similar words:

Pure are the caves and the plains;
Pure are the sod and the hills;
Pure are the lakes and rills;
Pure are the clouds and rains;
Pure are the woods and trees;
Pure are the valleys deep;
Pure are the bays and seas.

Renew your visualization, then begin again;

Pure are the birds that fly;
Pure are the hounds and bats;
Pure are the fish and whales;
Pure are the hares and cats;
Pure are the owls and snakes;
Pure are the stags and deer;
Pure are the lizards green;
Pure are all creatures here.

Once again, renew your visualization. Feel the Earth. Block all thoughts of the ravages that our species
has subjected to our planet. See the Earth as a healed, whole being. Then say these or whatever words
come to mind:

As I receive your energy, now receive mine.

Pour your personal power out through you palms and into the Earth (or the stones or plant). Gently send it
spiraling down into our planet, lending it the strength to survive. Willingly give of yourself for a few moments
while visualizing that shining blue planet hanging in the sky.

After a few moments, end the ritual by lifting your hands and standing. (If performing this rite indoors, place
the stones or the potted plant onto the ground outside to allow the Earth to absorb the energy.) It is done!

To make visitors feel very special, leave a basket brimming with plush
towels in the guest bathroom. Enclose a bottle of jasmine linen
spray to freshen and scent the towels. To make the spray, just add six drops
jasmine essential oil to four ounces distilled water.
Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and tuck into the basket of towels. Add a sprig of fresh jasmine, if available. The spray also makes

Indian Poet Ramprasad

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

You think you understand the goddess?
Even philosophers cannot explain her.
The scriptures say that she, herself,
is the essence of us all. It is she, herself,
who brings life through her sweet will.
You think you understand her?
I can only smile. You think you can
truly know her? Now you make me laugh!
But what our minds accept, our hearts do not.
Ants try to grasp the moon, we the goddess.
~Indian Poet Ramprasad

Carl Jung said that a great truth is something whose opposite is also a great truth. Life is full of ambiguities
and contradictions. One of these is our desire to understand and to articulate the ineffable, the parts of life that
cannot be understood and articulated. The great poet Ramprasad finds comedy in our attempts to do so - which
are, however, an inevitable part of our humanity.

Learning to live with these ambiguities and contradictions means learning wisdom. It is difficult to hold two mutually
contradictory facts in mind at once, and to believe them both with a full and true heart. Yet Ramprasad's Goddess,
Kali, teaches us to do so. Death is frightening and comforting. Pain is inevitable and grotesquely surprising. Love is
destructive and sustaining. Both are true, and often true at the same moment - great truths, whose opposites are also
great truths.

Shamanic Healing, Drumming, and Journey Circle This Friday! NJ

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:49 pm (PST)

Subject: Shamanic Healing, Drumming, and Journey Circle This Friday!

Hello Everyone!

The winds of transformation are definitely dancing among many of us. They are kicking up old belief systems, old behavior patterns, and old ways of being to show us what is being asked of us to work through next. If we choose to dance with the sacred winds, they will help us clear away the old, transform, and grow as spiritual beings. They are here to help us walk more firmly along the path of our purpose this lifetime.

I am always so amazed to see how our monthly drumming circle melds perfectly with the energy influences. Come join us this Friday, 11/19 at Peaceful Paths in Butler, NJ at 7pm! This month's focus is: Abundance and Scarcity. In this circle, we will explore the areas in our lives where there has been much abundance yielded. We will have a Ceremony of Gratitude for these blessings. We will also discover what area(s) in our lives appear as if little or no abundance manifested. We will work with our guides to heal the illusion of scarcity in our lives and in the lives of our ancestors and future generations.

General details are provided below. Space is limited, so please RSVP to me to reserve your spot!

I'm looking forward to sharing sacred space with you soon!

Many Blessings,
~Denise~

November Circle Focus: Abundance and Scarcity

Our ancestors who relied solely on the abundance of their crops each year became worrisome if there was not an abundance of food to last them through the winter and early spring. This mindset has been passed on through the generations through the DNA of our blood. In modern times, we still feel worried if some parts of our lives we deem “essential” appear scarce.

This is one way to create a reality of Harmony.

Every month, this sacred circle ebbs and flows in accordance to how Spirit calls. Some circles mirror a more traditional drumming circle, while others are focused more on personal/global healing. Most every circle will feature at least one journey for personal healing and exploration in a way that weaves with the month's focus. All circles, though they may have varying focuses, are in alignment with the natural Earth, Moon, and Cosmic cycles. The voices of all participants are heard as we work and play in Oneness.

Please RSVP to Denise Saracco at swiftwindtherapy@gmail.comor 862-268-3213 to reserve your spot!

Please bring drums/rattles, a pillow/blanket to lie on, a bottle of water, an eyeshade, a notebook/pen to journal your experiences, and your Divine self!

Today's Goddess:  Tatsu Ta Hime Shich-go-San (Japan)

Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:57 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess: Tatsu Ta Hime
Shich-go-San (Japan)

Themes: Children, Health, Luck, Thankfulness, Autumn, Blessings, Abundance,Protection
Symbols: Fall Leaves

About Tatsu Ta Hime: This windy Japanese Goddess blows into our lives today offering
blessings and abundance for all our efforts. Tradition tells is that she weaves the fall leaves into a montage of color , then sweeps them away
along with any late fall maladies. Sailors often wear an amulet bearing
her name to weather difficult storms at sea safely.

To Do Today: Also known as the 7-5-3 festival in Japan, this is a huge birthday
celebration for children who have reached these ages. Parents take their young ones to local shrines for the Goddess's and God's blessings. Here they receive a gift of rice for prosperity and a bit of pink hard candy for a long life. If you have children, by all means follow this custom
to draw Tatsu Ta Hime's protective energies into their lives. Place
some rice, a piece of pink candy and a strand of the child's hair in a
little sealed box. Write the Goddess's name somewhere on the box to keep her blessings intact. Put this in the child's room or on the family
altar.

To manifest this Goddess's health and well being, take
several swatches of fabric bearing her name and sew them into various
items of clothing or carry one in your pocket. Should you day prove
emotionally storm, this little charm will keep you centered, calm and
"on course".

Herbal Cleansing Spell

Aromatic herbs do more than smell good. Most of them can be used to disinfect
and clean, both physically and psychically. Take a handful of rosemary,
peppermint, or lavender leaves, and add them to some boiling water.
Remove the water from the heat, and let it steep for ten minutes.
Strain, and use while hot to wash ceramic, tile, and walls. Pour the
cooled leftovers into a spray bottle for quick cleanups. ~ Therese

Haida (Southwestern Alaska) Bear Song

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:00 pm (PST)

The handsome woman has become my wife
I will be kind to her. Her kin need not come here
to take her back with them. Berries
and berries and berries, all over the hills:
these are my wedding gifts to her. And roots,
roots, roots from the ground. Plenty!
There is nothing I won't do for her.
I have made this song for her, I am
singing it for her, the handsome woman.
~Haida (Southwestern Alaska) Bear Song

In the rich forests of the Pacific Northwest coast, there was a great myth about a woman who went off to live with
bears. She married a bear and bore children who were half-bear, half-human. She was the ancestor of all people in
whose blood the tribal connection to bears was strong and immediate.

We have lost our connection with animals; we no longer speak of ourselves as descended from otter or from turtle.
Yet the wisdom expressed in these ancient tales remains. We are connected with animals, as we are with plants
and clouds and the rocks of distant mountains. Our planet is a system in which each part connects with, and affects,
every other part. There is no action that we can take which does not in some way affect our planet. Though we no
longer articulate our relationship to the bear clan, we are never far away from each other.
