someone I could talk with about starting out.

I personally Don't have any items as of yet like I said I would like to start
from the beginning and yet still Don't know where to start.Such as items as well
as books and so on.If someone could please e-mail me information and some sites
to check out for beginner I would like that vary much that you all.

Dear Dawn, you don't need "things" to practice wicca. If you want to know what I
mean, then reply in the affirmative. Magic is "intangible" by it's very nature.
Sometimes even witches can become materialistic. I can show you how to "work
magic", without all the stuff, and at no cost to you. Too many wiccans have
turned the art into a business, and forgotten the true meaning of "magic".

GAIA:

Hello Dawn -- Merry Meet and WELCOME!

First, you need to understand that Spellcraft is an ADVANCED skill set,
that should not even be attempted until you've mastered the BASICS, like
Centering, Grounding, Cleansing, Shielding, creating Sacred Space
(including Casting Circles), Visualizations, and more. Few reputable
teachers would provide you with spells until you've had quite a bit more
training -- A "year and a day" is the traditional period for training.

Spells are relatively *easy* to create (and you should create your OWN,
rather than getting them from someone else, since a spell created by the
person who wants to cast it, is much more powerful than one created by
someone else and just copied from them) -- AFTER you've mastered the
basics (above) and AFTER you've learned what magick is and how it works.

In other words, I hate to disappoint or discourage you, but you've got
quite a ways to go before you should be thinking about spellcasting
<*smile*>.

You are wise to ask for recommendations -- there are an awful lot of
charlatans, wannabees and "think-they-are's" out there, who actually
don't know what they're talking about, and a lot of MISinformation,
error, and such, masquerading as "Wicca info", so be very careful about
who you listen to. A few authors and books to AVOID (due to serious
misinformation, errors, and ethical problems) include:

AVOID:

Silver Ravenwolf

Mary Summer Rain

"The 21 Lessons of Merlin"

RECOMMENDED RESOURCES:

Books:

The very best book i would recommend first of all, is Ellen Cannon
Reed's "The Heart of Wicca" ; it is the best book i've ever found (in
over 30 years) to teach the most important, essential and basic
principles of Wicca.

Websites:

Here are some of the best resources for good, reliable information on
*authentic* Wicca --

1. http://www.cog.org <http://www.cog.org> - Covenant of the Goddess,
a national, legally-recognized organization of Wiccan covens, clergy and
solitaries, with local "Councils" in many cities; they offer
information, resources, and lots more.

2. http://www.witchvox.com <http://www.witchvox.com> - Witchvox is a
great resource offering articles, resource referals, and much more -
including info on resources in your area.

3. http://www.Circlesanctuary.org <http://www.Circlesanctuary.org> -
Circle is a working farm, Pagan sanctuary and information resource.

4. http://www.wicca.timerift.net <http://www.wicca.timerift.net> -
"Wicca for the Rest of Us" -- a great resource with lots of helpful
articles.

5. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BeginningWicca/
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BeginningWicca/> - Beginning Wicca is
one of the better Yahoo Groups specifically for Wiccans; it has several
Wiccan High Priestesses who are members and therefore, lots of good
info, files and discussions.

I hope you find that helpful; I have more resources on my Laptop but
it's not working just now; when i get it fixed, i'll get that info to
you, OK?

Blessed Be -

~Gaia

You'll have to be a bit more specific Dawn. What do you want to learn? I
practice a different form of magic, which yields solutions that are a-typical to
traditional wicca.

Dawn,

You might want to check out Witchvox.com on the internet and Witchvox on
Facebook.  You can look up your state and find groups, stores, and solitary
witches in your area.  Check out to see if there are any wiccan meet ups in your
area so that you can start to meet others in the Wiccan community.  Also suggest
visiting Wiccan stores in your area.  A great place to purchase books, meet
other wiccans, find out about classes, and buy altar supplies.  Other resources
for supplies are craft shops like A.C. Moore.

Try to find a Wicca 101 class in your area (Witchvox lists classes in your
area).  Many are taught through Wiccan stores and some are taught be
individuals.  Great way to learn the ethics of Wicca, what Wiccans do and don't
believe, get a taste of a variety of Wiccan subjects, and get personal answers
to questions.

File - Do NOT Send Invitations to other Groups.txt

Posted by: "Witch_Essentials@yahoogroups.com" Witch_Essentials@yahoogroups.com

Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:03 am (PST)

On Sending our Members "Invitations" to Other Groups:

PLEASE NOTE:

It is against the rules of many Groups to use their membership lists to "mine" names for other Groups -- including "social networking" Groups -- and this includes Witch Essentials.

You would be wise to ASK PERMISSION of Group Owners or Moderators, BEFORE sending any "invitations" to other groups, to them or their members.

Sincerely -
~Gaia, Group Moderator

File - Warning about Grouply.txt

Posted by: "Witch_Essentials@yahoogroups.com" Witch_Essentials@yahoogroups.com

Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:03 am (PST)

Once more, please be reminded that Yahoo FORBIDS ITS MEMBERS to belong to "Grouply":

Warning about Grouply.Com

You will not be allowed to join this group with a 'grouply' email
account.

This is a new site which advertises they can make accessing your
groups faster and easier. Most of us are too seasoned to fall for
something like this, but I am posting this as CYA.

This is what happens when you join:

"First, when a member joins, it automatically changes their primary
email address for the groups, giveing them a @grouply.com extension.
This is being done unaware to those who are joining.

Secondly, members who join the grouply website are having to give
their member ID and password. This opens up a security issue for
those members.

Thirdly, once a member joins grouply, it opens access to the files
and posts of each group to the grouply website. Grouply staff can
then access these files. If they get hacked, then it opens the doors
to the groups getting hacked as well. It has also been reported that
it's generating a lot of spam already."

In other words, information from a group can be made accessable to
everyone, and massive amounts of spam with your email address can be
generated.

The following information tells you the steps which needed to be taken
if someone has joined Grouply.com

IDENTIFY THEFT AT GROUPLY.COM

There is a message going out to different Yahoo Groups advertising
and suggesting that you join a new group called GROUPLY. This group
claims to help manage all your Yahoo groups and you will get a
summary, at the end of the day, telling you what is going on in all
your groups.

IF YOU JOIN THIS GROUP, they use your Yahoo ID and password to
post "mass mailings" (can be junk, can be porno) and send them to
anyone, and since it's YOUR ID they are using, others will think it
is coming from you.

For instance, you could get an email CLAIMING that it came
from "emagic2" Yahoo group and it really is not from this group. I
could get an email, with this mass mailing, claiming it came from me,
and it wouldn't have been from me.

Again, IF YOU HAVE JOINED THIS GROUP called "GROUPLY" IMMEDIATELY
leave Grouply. Then go into your account at:
http://groups. yahoo.com/ mygroups and change your password. Some
groups have posted that this will help. Unsubbing from that group
won't make a difference (but I think you will want to) so change your
Yahoo Password.

By joining this group you have also exposed all your groups, group
members and group leaders to hacking of their emails and group
information.

Because of this problem, all members with a email grouply.com are
being removed from the affected groups. This is the only way to
protect all the members. This is how Identity theft gets going.
They now have your real email, your yahoo emails, any emails listed
in your yahoo group and can mail as you in and out of the yahoo
groups.

I hope you understand what is happening and will take precautions to
protect your Yahoo ID.
