Hi Angelsvoice

First of CONGRATS!!!! and my sis used with great success ginger in tea form and lil bites of crystalized ginger which she kept in her purse when she couldnt make tea and I have also used these when I have had nausea from my stomach illness with great success as well

I also on occasion found all natural soda companies that made ginger ale with real ginger, Boylans is one of them that comes to mind & that helped too as well as mixing a small amount of ginger tea with a little bit sparkling water

Blessed Be

Edugreen

The Edugreen is sponsored by the Tata Energy Research Institute in India and concentrates on 'making environmental learning fun for the young.' The site introduces environmental issues dealing with energy, water, climate change, solid waste issues, to name a few of the subjects. In addition to the exploration section, there is a 'Play and Learn' area, a Networking section and also some neat sites for surfing in the particular environmental areas. You can even share with your friends and send 'Envirocards,' on what else, environmental issues that will remind everyone to 'Think Green!'

Spirit Guides

From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wiccan
Many people in the Pagan and Wiccan communities work with spirits and otherworldly beings, particularly when Samhain is approaching and the veil is growing thin. Sometime, you may call upon these beings on purpose -- other times, they might just drop in unannounced! Today, we'll talk about how to identify the different types of guides, how to tell if a spirit doesn't really have your best interests at heart, contacting the spirit world, and how to get rid of spirits that you don't want hanging around.

Benevolent Guides:

Many people believe they have spirit guides. Some refer to theirs as angels or guardians. Regardless, if you believe you have one, a spirit guide is there simply to guide, not as an entity that you need to give yourself over to. If a spirit guide has a negative influence on your behavior, then chances are good that it's not a spirit guide at all, but something else entirely. These are some of the more commonly found types of spirit guides:

Ascended Masters:

These are guides often found by people who do energy work, such as Reiki. A ascended master who appears as a spirit guide is often a being that led a physical life and has moved on to a higher spiritual plane -- for example, Buddha, Krishna, even Jesus. Ascended masters usually work with collective groups of souls -- in other words, if you've got an ascended master hanging around you, you're not the only one he or she is helping. Their primary focus is that of helping all of humanity. It's not uncommon for an ascended master to have access to Akashic records. Also referred to as Master Teacher guides.

Ancestral Guides:

An ancestral guide is one who can claim some sort of kinship with you, such as your dear Aunt Tillie who died when you were ten. It may also appear in the form of a long-dead ancestor. In some schools of thought, these entities are seen as reincarnated guides, because they are the spirits of someone who loved us during their physical lifetime, or who had some sort of blood connection to our family. Some people, depending on their religious upbringing, may see these types of guides as guardian angels.

Common Spirit Guide, or Teacher Guide:

A typical spirit guide is archetypical, symbolic or representative of something else. For example, you may find your guide appears in the form of a warrior, a storyteller, or a wise woman, and they have appeared to you for a purpose. Typically, that purpose is to teach you and guide you along a particular path. They may also introduce you to other archetypes along your journey, and help out with problem solving, based upon your needs. They are known to provide insight by way of dreams or meditation, and may only hang around as long as you need them, then move on.

Animal Guides:

Although many people claim to have animals as spirit guides, often these entities are more companions than anything else. It's not uncommon for a deceased pet to linger around, keeping you company through the grieving process. In some spiritual traditions, such as various Native American or shamanic paths, a person may have an animal totem, which provides teaching and/or protection.

this is so silly my mother would have never banned any books form us, to her its better to read then not to read. when my mom and step dad tried to talk to my brother about the birds and the bees he asked them to just get him a book on it. People are so silly and closed minded any more. I would never band any books form my children it just isn't right.

How to Hold a Seance

How to Hold a Seance

A séance is an event that can either be fantastic, or a real mess. Which one it is will depend on how much preparation goes into it. With a little bit of planning and thought ahead of time, you can pave the way for your séance to go smoothly. Certainly, it's a good idea to expect the unexpected -- after all, the dead are hardly predictable -- but by setting yourself a few guidelines in advance, you can make sure that everyone has the best experience possible.

Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varied
Here's How:

Plan your guest list: Figure out how many people you're going to have -- and make sure the space you're using will allow them all. If your living room only seats eight people comfortably, don't invite fifteen! Also, be sure that everyone attending is open-minded to the spirit world. People who are adamantly "non-believers" bring a certain amount of negative energy, and this can be disruptive. You may also find that it adversely effects your communication with the spirits during your séance.

Create a Spirit-Friendly Atmosphere: Most people like to conduct a séance at a round or oval table, but if neither is available, don't worry. Drape the table with fabric or sheets -- some people prefer light colors to attract "friendly" spirits, but it's a matter or personal preference. If you use incense, be sure that no one in your group is allergic to it. Place incense somewhere away from the table, rather than on the table itself. Candles are a nice addition as well -- not only do they provide some visibility, but there's a school of thought that believes spirits are attracted to heat and light sources.

Common Sense: Help everyone get comfortable by offering refreshments before you begin. Make sure that guests will be respectful of the spirits, and of other guests. Turn off all cell phones. If anyone needs to go to the bathroom or have a smoke, do so before you begin. Set the thermostat at a comfortable temperature -- remember that spirit activity can cause some fluctuation in levels of cold or heat. Once everyone is seated, you can help everyone relax by doing a short guided mediation, offering a prayer, or casting a protective circle, if your tradition requires you to do so.

During the Seance: Although many people like to do this, you don't have to hold hands to raise energy. In fact, if a séance goes on too long, it can get downright uncomfortable. Whoever is acting as the leader of the séance -- the medium -- should ask the spirits to join the group. If there is a specific spirit you are trying to contact, ask for them by name. For example, now would be the time to say, "Dear Auntie Gertrude, we respectfully ask that you honor us with your presence this evening." In some séances, spirits are summoned by chanting -- this will be up to your medium to decide on.

As long as the spirits seem willing to reply, you can carry on a question and answer session with them. Bear in mind that spirits respond in many different ways. Sometimes there will be a tangible reaction -- a tap, a thump, a soft breeze. Other times -- particularly if you have a room full of very psychically gifted people -- the spirit may choose to respond through another person. This may be the medium, or any other guest. The individual may simply "get a message" to pass along, which they would then share, such as, "Your Auntie Gertrude wants you to know she isn't in pain any more."

Party Time: Sometimes, particularly if you have a group of psychically gifted individuals as guests, you may get several spirits arriving all at once, chattering away. This is not cause for alarm, but it does take some managing, because they've all got something to say. Treat it like you would any other conversation with a large group of people -- let each spirit get their turn to deliver the message they came with, and then move on to the next one. Also, bear in mind that not all spirits are from departed humans -- deceased pets may also have a message to pass along.

Unwanted Entities: Just like at any other party, sometimes a séance will bring an uninvited guest. In this case, when you have a spirit that seems malevolent or mischievous, someone needs to let them know they're unwelcome. Typically, this will be the medium who is leading the séance, who will usually say something like, "You are not wanted here, but we thank you for your presence. Now it is time for you to move on."
If an entity arrives that seems angry or hostile and will not leave, no matter what you do, end the séance. Chances are good that it's been attracted to someone in your group who is dysfunctional.

Closing the Door: When you're done with the séance, it's important that guests thank the spirits for coming to visit. After all, you would do so if you had living guests drop in!
If one of your attendees seems to have slipped into a trance or a sleep-like state during the séance, allow them to return gradually, on their own. Do NOT shake them awake. Chances are they'll have a message for someone once they're back among the group.

Close the séance by telling the spirits farewell, thanking them, and asking them to move along. You may want to offer a small blessing or prayer as a way of ending the formal séance, but bear in mind that some spirits like to hang around after the séance has officially finished. If they do, it's okay. They're probably just curious, and they may return to visit you later in the evening during a dream sequence.

Tips:

Before you begin your seance, smudge the area with sage or sweetgrass for ritual cleansing.

Make sure you've eliminated potential distractions, such as children or ringing telephones. Interestingly, many pets seem to come and go through spirit activity without causing any disruption. Cats in particular tend to be very curious about what's going on.

Your guests may wish to bring an object that belonged to a deceased person, as a way of strengthening the connection. Photographs are also good links to the dead.

Wendyl Jay of Manna Reading Center - will be facilitating the ritual. The whole ritual will be sung and drummed…. magic is all around us, come and feel it. There is a story told of the first people facing the cold winter and the sun so far away in the sky…when the people petitioned the moon to ask for help, she told them to raise their voices in song and the sun would return. But they did not know what "song" was, so the moon told them to go to the top of the mountain, put their heart and soul to their voice…. and "yule". So they did….They took their drums and their voices and opened their hearts…. the first "yuletide". The sun heard and was amazed and curious. He started moving closer… the earth warmed and spring began…. the circle of life continued. So, every time since, when the sun goes far in the sky and the earth is cold…. earth's people "yule" for the sun and he is pleased. He returns to warm us and the Mother Earth, bringing forth the light.
We, as Earth's people, will bring our drums and our voices to the fire circle. We will light the "yule" log and let the sun hear our prayers. We will fulfill the promise of returning light with our song!

Your Tarot Archetypes in Action--How to Calculate Them--Part 1

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:13 pm (PDT)

Your Tarot Archetypes in Action
How to Calculate Them
by L. A. Lothian

Archetypes are energetic imprints that exist in the psyches all of us, even though throughout history we have tended to externalize these archetypes as Gods, Goddesses, and planets. For instance, the 11 known celestial bodies of our solar system (Chiron included) are often misrepresented in astrology as forces out there, acting on us.
In truth, the planets represent archetypal forces within us--from Mercury our communicator/thinker to Neptune our inner mystic/dreamer to the Moon, our emotional nature. It is when we disown the energy of any particular planet within us, that we misconstrue the influence of that planet as a malefic trouble maker!
The 22 archetypes of the Major Arcana come to us from the shadowy realms of forgotten pre-history, in all likelihood part of a wisdom that once passed for general knowledge, yet was lost in the looting, pillaging and burning of Hellenic and Alexandrian libraries. That said, the tarot re-emerged in medieval times, was fortified in the late 19th century mystery schools a la Aleister Crowley, and with the mass distribution afforded by modern games companies, have seen a major resurgence.
Although Tarot cards have long been used as a parlor game and fortune telling device, Tarot archetypes are a key to 22 expressions of soul energy, and to the 21 steps we take on the journey of soul growth. The 22nd archetype is the Fool, who represents the vagabond traveler we all are through out the cycles of incarnations on the physical plane.
Twenty-two might seem like an awfully crowded room, a giving us a psyche of Sybil-plus proportions. However, there are really 10 core archetypes, with the remaining 12 representing a deeper level or another layer of one of these primary archetypes. One way to imagine our psyches is as a room full of 10 pregnant women, two carrying twins. The room IS crowded, it just doesn't seem unmanageable because the other 12 are nascent and dormant beings that have yet to be born. It is an evolutionary challenge as a species, then, to begin to express the 12 Higher Archetypes by giving birth to and nurturing them in our lifetimes.
So who are the all star cast? In order of appearance: Magician, High Priestess, Empress, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariot, Strength, Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, Devil, Tower, Star, Moon, Sun, Judgment, World, and Fool.
Your Primary Soul Archetype
This is your assignment in life, your mission impossible, your destiny Young Skywalker. It is the archetype that challenges us to the greatest growth in this incarnation. In that respect, it can be seen as our most undeveloped archetype, the supporting actor of other lifetimes that has risen to top billing in this one. You can run, but you can't hide from your soul archetype. It's lessons are the mandatory course requirements for graduation in this lifetime.
Your Higher Soul Archetype
While everybody comes into this world with a primary archetype assignment, some of us wild and crazy souls arrive with a double course load. These are arguably the old souls who've been around and around the karmic block, multitaskers who have taken on the challenge of two archetypes. On the other hand, these just as well could be souls who failed the last grade and are doing make up courses! Who knows, but my experience of what I call Dual-Soul people is that they invariably live two separate lives--part one expressing the primary archetype and part two the Higher archetype. Most often this shift occurs once the individual has mastered the primary archetype, and is free to tackle the more complex vibration of the Higher archetype. Possibly the role of these individuals is to raise the collective to a higher level of spiritual awareness. Or to just bug the hell out of us!
Calculating Your Primary and Higher Soul Archetypes
OK, this is deceptively simple, and I've heard it before. It needs to be some algorithmic equation of Pythagorean complexity in order to be meaningful. Surprise! The most profound truths in life are always the simplest!
First, take your date of Birth and do the math below. We'll use "Dan" as our first example. Dan is born Sept. 22, 1945.

1945
+22
+09
----------
1976

1976 : 1 + 9 + 7 + 6 = 23

Because 23 is Higher than 22 (the last archetype of the arcana) we must reduce the number (think of making gravy from watery stock!). How do we do this? 2 + 3 = 5

Dan's Primary Soul Archetype then, is 5. You will see in the next article that 5, is the Hierophant. Dan then, is a Hierophant Soul. (Think Pope!).

However, there are those with dual souls. Lets take "Sindy" as an example. She is born Oct. 17, 1956.

1956
+17
+10
--------
1983

1+ 9 + 8 + 3 = 21

Because Sindy's number is less than 22, we retain 21. When we check the interpretation we find she is a World soul. This is a Higher Soul Archetype, as are all archetypes from 11 (Justice) to 22 (the Fool).

Now, we take the 21, and reduce that: 2 + 1 = 3. We see that Sindy's Primary Archetype is 3, the Empress.

Calculating Your Year Cycles
First, never forget that the year cycles are birthday to birthday, not calendar year.
Another simple formula. Elementary dear Watson.

Add together your month and day.
Dan: Sept 22 , which is 09, and the day, 22, which adds to 31.

Take your 31 and DO NOT REDUCE IT FURTHER. Take this number and add it to the year you wish to know about. For instance, 1997 plus 31, which gives us 2028.

Now, take 2028 and add the digits together. 2 + 0 + 2 + 8

From this we get 12. Dan is in a 12 year, the Hanged Man. We do not reduce this further to 3, though it is understood that 3, the Empress, is a part of his year cycle energy simply because it is a lower octave of Hanged Man. (12 reduces to 1 plus 2 = 3.)

In Part 2 we'll look at individual tarot archetypes.

From a male friend:
I've never understood why women love cats. Cats are inde-
pendent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you
call, they like to stay out all night, and when they're
home they like to be left alone and sleep. In other words,

Lady N,
Thank you for the autumn pictures.I'm from Illinois and that's what I really
miss,is the changing of the leaves. This part of Texas doesn't have pretty color
in the fall,at all.Thank you.

Much Love and Many Prayers,
Carol L. Calvert
