Now, now Scott...

To be fair, pagans have been rampantly deifying people all the time.

Once upon a time I believe you could hardly move at a Pagan Summer Gathering without being reminded that Thou Art God or Thou Art Goddess :-P

It was like Olympus I tell you, only with more nude boot-scooting.

Thank you Gavin for providing the concise fiscal summary.

Well, a pat on the back for Kathleen Evans and Veronica Hopson is all I can say, and tough tits for the other twenty thousand suckers who died of Yahweh-made diseases who had called upon Mary McKillop's intercession without effect. That's how he works, obviously.

As hath been observed by a Past Master of The Art:

"All Gods are worthy of Belief
If They should answer to thy call,
But aught that faileth to avail
Should swiftly out of Heaven fall -
Like Lead return'd unto the Forge
Where Magick turneth all to Gold
To fake One Image of them all"

Saints? Hmm. The prick who burned Giordano Bruno alive in 1600, and had Galileo arrested for reporting correct observations on celestial movements, Cardinal Bellarmine, was canonised in 1930. That tells us something - but nothing we didn't already know.

Best regards
C.B.

The $1.5 million donated by the Federal Government to the campaign to get Mary MacKillop canonized works out to 30 cents per Catholic. (That's without factoring in the money lost to government revenue by adding the the Mary MacKillop Canonisation Gift Fund to the list of deductible gift recipients.)
