NEW THOUGHTS, NEW LIVES! - Parts I & II
Two Interactive Workshops with Jefferson Harman

Part I - Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 Part II - Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010
4:00-6:00p.m. $25.00 per class

Is your life taking you in the direction of your dreams or do you feel like
someone else is holding the wheel? Do you often feel angry or depressed?
Overly critical or resentful? Are you experiencing an illness or lack of
energy and you can't seem to shake it? Perhaps someone has told you it's all
in your mind…

This workshop will provide an interactive look at how Affirmationworks to
enhance our lives. Experience the transformative effect of positive thought on
the individual as well as the group mind. Learn how affirmations affect your
physical body and the world around you. Participants will be asked to identify
the negative, repetitive thoughts they experience every day. The group will
then challenge these negative messages by applying a positive counterpart.
Next, participants will be asked to agree upon three affirmations that each
person will take with them and repeat every day for one month. Part Two of the
workshop will be held the following month to review what changes everyone
experienced. We will discuss the positive changes, the common pitfalls of
falling into habitual thought, how negative words affect our ability to
manifest, and how to overcome conditional programming that keeps us from living
our best lives.

Thanks folks! Hope to see you Saturday!

With peace,

A Prayer for the Final HarvestCorn has been shucked,
grain has been threshed,
herbs have been hung to dry.
Grapes have been pressed,
potatoes have been dug,
beans have been shelled and canned.
It is the harvest season,
and food is ready for winter.
We will eat, and we will live,
and we will be grateful.

Kids Prayer for Samhain

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:06 pm (PDT)

Kids Prayer for Samhain
Samhain is here, cold is the earth,
as we celebrate the cycle of death and rebirth.
Tonight we speak to those through the veil,
the lines between worlds are thin and frail.

Ghosts and spirits in the night,
magical beings rising in flight,
owls hooting up in a moonlit tree,
I don't fear you and you don't fear me.

As the sun goes down, far to the west,
my ancestors watch over me as I rest.
They keep me safe and without fear,
on the night of Samhain, the Witch's New Year.

Welcome Blood Full Moon....Final Harvest Time!  9:38pm Friday Night

Welcome Blood Full Moon....Final Harvest Time! 9:38pm Friday Night

Lunabar Moon Phases

Full "Hunter's" Moon falls on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 9:38 PM
Last Quarter falls on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 8:46 AM

OCTOBER:
Blood Moon, Falling Leaf Moon, or Moon of the Changing Seasons, this is a
time for transition, release, inner peace, past lives, and karmic completion.

Full Moon energy is used banishing unwanted influences in your life, protection
magic,

and divination.

Full Moon magic can be conjured for seven days: the three days prior to the Full
Moon,

the night of the Full Moon itself, and three days after the Full Moon.

Full Hunter's Moon - October With the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it
is time to hunt.

Since the fields have been reaped, hunters can easily see fox and the animals
which have come out

to glean.

In October, we see the Blood Moon travel through the sky. This moon is also
called the Shedding Moon or the Falling Leaf Moon. Coming right before Samhain,
it's a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in
the energy around you.
Correspondences:
* Colors: Dark blue, black, purples
* Gemstones: Obsidian, amethyst, tourmaline
* Trees: Apples and yew
* Gods: Herne, Apollo, Cernunnos, Mercury
* Herbs: Apple blossom, pennyroyal, mint family, catnip, Sweet Annie
* Element: Air
This is the time when the veil between our world and the spirit world are at
its thinnest. Use this time for spiritual growth -- if there's a deceased
ancestor you wish to contact, this is a great month to do it. Hold a séance,
work on your divination, and pay attention to messages you get in your dreams.

Also Known As: Shedding Moon, Falling Leaf Moon

Blood Moon Ritual

Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:25 pm (PDT)

Blood Moon Ritual
Color of the day: White
Incense of the day: Honeysuckle

On the eve of the third day before Blood Moon prepare by ceremoniously pourly a
libation to celebrate the earth and sky. All participants should wear white or
silver robes or gowns, as well as jewelry containing carnelian or moonstone
with silver accents. The coven leader will clean a chalice with rose water and
dry it. Pour a cup of red wine into the chalice. Slice a ripe pomegranate in
half and squeeze the juice into the chalice. Add a teaspoon honey, and have
each member of the circle stir the potion with a magic wand. Go outside. Form a
circle holding hands. The leader lifts the chalice, gives humble praise to the
approaching Blood Moon, then takes a sip and passes the chalice clockwise
around the circle. Each member also toasts the Blood Moon and drinks.

Blood Moon  October

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:28 pm (PDT)

Selene, sometimes known as Mene, was the second aspect of the Moon to the
Greeks. She was the daughter of hyperion and Theia, a Titaness, and the sister
of Helios and Eos. Selene personified the Moon as a bride and a lover. She was
pictures as a beautiful woman with a golden crown. The deity had great
importance in magick, spells and enchantments. Often we find ourselves out of
synch with the Moon and her powers. Usually this happens when we have been too
involved in material, physical matters and have not given enough time to
spiritual development. this meditation is good for correcting that condition and
should be performed during a full moon. it is also useful when we need to renew
our spiritual initiation and communication with the Moon Goddess. this
meditative ritual is taken from the book MOON MAGICKby D. J. Conway.

Set up an alter with a silver or white cloth. Light a white candle and sit it to
the center. if you wish have a vase of white flowers on the alter. before the
candle, place a chalice of water, white juice or wine. Burn a little powdered
gum mastic and mugwort. dress in white or silver. Put a comfortable chair near
the alter to sit and play soft, dreamy instrumental music. Say:

Silently she rides the night, the silver mother crystal clear.
Her gifts are subtle, changing my path, yet lovingly erasing fear.
Mother of the Magick Moon, I chant your sacred name divine,
and follow to true destinies that lead to higher realms than mine.

Close your eyes and relax your body. Before you is a silver path that leads from
the earth up to the Moon. You find yourself swiftly ascending the path. the
spiritual Moon is not at all like the physical Moon. The Moon garden of Selene
if full of pale flowers and green trees. In the center of this garden, before a
shallow pool filled with water lilies stands a small round temple with open
sides. its columns are covered with flowering vines. inside sits the Moon
Goddess Selene, waiting for you.
you sit beside Selene and gaze into her deep eyes. Her long silver-blonde
hair falls to her hips. her white dress is held at the waist by a silver belt.
she smiles and gathers you into her arms in an embrace.

"Sister (Brother), " she says in her soft voice, "I am glad you came."

Selene speaks to you about your spiritual goals and what you have
accomplished in that area so far. She may make suggestions to you as to what
would help you. You can tell her about your problems if they touch upon the
spiritual, especially if you are being persecuted or ridiculed for your beliefs.

when your conversation is over, Selene takes your hand and leads you out to
stand beside a lily pond. a group of men and women come to stand with you. they
are all dressed in white. one of them hands the goddess a silver chalice. she
lifts it to your

lips and you drink.

then she stoops and picks up a water lily. with great solemness, Selene
places the flower on the top of your head. you feel it sink down into your body.
she tells you that this flower will help to balance and realign your sacred
centers in the astral body. You feel the flower begin to work its spiritual
magick. you become aware of a subtle heartbeat rhythm all around you. Selene
says that this is the rhythm of the moon, and influence all humans could hear
and feel if they would listen.

Another of the Moons attendants holds out a silver disk on a chain. the
goddess slips this over your head. Selene whispers that this emblem is a sign of
your Moon initiation, that it is a key to her realm whenever you want to return.

the attendant who brought the pendant comes forward and takes your hand.
this person is to be one of your spiritual teachers and guardians. Selene kisses
you once more and goes back to her temple. the new teacher goes with you back
down the path of moonlight to the earth. beautiful music is heard all around
you. you slide back into your physical body and open your eyes. Gaze at the
candle again and say:

Moon Magick, visions and dreamy inspiration.
The Moon is darkened in the sky.
Astral travel, healing and intuition.
The moon is a silver sliver in the sky.
Prophetic dreams, luck and divination.
The Moon is a crystal ball in the sky.
Three phases of the Moon, three phases of me life,
Youth , maturity and great wisdom.
Let me be guided by your deep symbolism.

Sprinkle water from the chalice around your working space and onto yourself.
call upon your new teacher whenever you need help in ritual, magick and
spiritual insight.
This ritual was taken from "Moon Magick" by D. J. Conway

A Ritual For Samhain....Please add in more of your Ancestors and lov

A Ritual For Samhain
Within this Ritual is a Roster of those persecuted and executed as Witches
throughout the years...At this time let us remember those that have lived and
died by the beliefs they held dear . There is also a link with just the List of
the Dead here:
List of The Dead
We are here tonight to celebrate the most sacred of our holidays, Samhain. A
time outside of time, a time when the boundaries have been lifted, normal laws
are suspended, and spirits from the other world can seek entry into ours. The
doors are opened, the thresholds can be bridged. Samhain is a night for
divination, the past, present and future merge. The dead and the still to be born
are celebrated.

For those of you who have not been here to share our holiday before, I will
explain something of our tradition. Halloween, called Samhain by the ancient
Celts, and Hallowmass by the early Christians, represented the final harvest of
the year for the ancient people. A time when all of their food was stored for
the coming winter, a time of abundance and plenty, a time to give thanks to
their deities. Their belief system was based on the planting and weather cycles
and so, to them, this was their New Year, a time when the fields would lay
fallow until the spring came again. They viewed their God in the same way. He
was born of the Goddess at Yule, the time of the winter Solstice, (which, by the
way is where the Christians got the idea that Jesus was born in December). At
Imbolc, (now called Ground hog day by those who do not understand it's true
meaning), the goddess has recovered from the birth and the God is a growing lad
whose power becomes greater with each passing day. This represents the halfway
point t between winter and spring. By Ostara, the spring equinox, (also taken
from the Pagans and now called Easter) mother earth is greening and the God is
maturing. By Beltane (May 1) the mature God and Goddess lie together to assure
the fertility of the earth. By the summer solstice she knows she is pregnant and
he is at the peak of his power. By Lammas, (also called Loafmass, the first
harvest) he begins to weaken. By the fall equinox, (called Mabon) as the light
grows less, his power grows less, and the world readies itself for rest as he
prepares himself to leave his aging body. At Samhain we bid the God a temporary
goodbye while he goes to prepare himself for his rebirth at Yule. The wheel of
life turns and turns again.

The story of the birth, life and death of the God is the story of the birth life
and death of each of us. This cycle of birth death and rebirth is the basis for
our belief in reincarnation. His death or sacrifice at Samhain is the foundation
of All Hallow 's Eve or The Festival of the Dead. Tonight we are here to honor
our beloved dead. We believe that on this night, the veil between the worlds is
thin and we can call to those who have gone and they will hear us....and so...

The Circle of Power is about to be erected.
Let all who stand within it be here of their own free will and accord in peace
and love.
I cast this circle to be a protection against any negative energy that may come
to do us harm. We come to you ,O Ancient Ones, with open hearts and open hands
to honor our beloved dead and to receive the blessings of the universe;
blessings of good health, prosperity, and the companionship of those we love.

Materials: one cauldron, filled with water
CRONE This should be an older female.
OLD KING This should be a person chosen by lottery, or by whoever is acting as
Crone. It can be enacted by the HP if needed.
BARD/GREEN MAN If the coven has no Bard available, then a Green Man should be
chosen by lottery, or by whoever is acting as Maiden. It can be enacted by the
HP, if needed.
The place of ritual should be set up, away from the gathered participants. This
is not something that people should miss, so make sure that potty break is
taken care of before the circle is cast.
HPS
Go we now to the sacred place
And stand within the sacred space
Turn your minds to sacred things
And dance with me unto the ring!
HP and HPS lead the coven to the place of ritual by a spiral dance, ending in a
circle around the altar. The cauldron should be at the south. The Old King
dances at the end of the line.
HPS
Come we forth, with the Spiral Dance
Within the Lady's radiance
To mark the turning of the year
The door to Winter now is here.
Earth and Water, Fire and Air
I invoke the Goddess there!
This night we are Between the Worlds
To celebrate the year unfurled!
HP
Earth and Water, Fire and Sky
I invoke the God on high
This night we are Between the Worlds
To celebrate the year unfurled!
The corners shall be called thusly, that all may hear, but shall not be called
until the HPS reaches that corner on her circumambulation.
EAST
O Guardians of the Eastern Tower,
Airy ones of healing power
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!
Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee
Come to us; and Blessed Be!
SOUTH
Oh fiery ones of Southern Power
Thus I invite you to this tower
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!
Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!
WEST
Western ones of water's flow
Help to guard us here below
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!
Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!
NORTH
Earthen ones of Northern fame
Bless and guard our Power's fane
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!
Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!
The HPS shall move to each corner, and say, following each corner's crying as
she moves to the next:
HPS
So I cast and consecrate
This Circle of the small and great:
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
By Rock and Earth, by Land and Sea,
By Fire and Water, Earth and Air,
By the Lord, and Lady Fair!
By Love and Joy and Work and Play,
All things harmful cast away!
By lightning's flash, and rain's soft fall,
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
(Cast the Circle: Blessed be!)
On her return to the first corner she shall change the last line above, and say:
The Circle's cast; and Blessed Be!
The callers of the corners shall return their tools to the altar, and then shall
join the circle at their corners.
Here begins the Samhain Mystery:
OLD KING
Thus I invoke the Lady White
To come to us this sacred night.
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
I shall show you a Mystery!
Bard/Green Man and Maiden join hands, facing each other. The Maiden speaks to
the Bard/Green Man:
MAIDEN
Lord of Life, hail Land-Master!
God of grain that grows and dies
Rising reborn, full of richness;
Fallow fields shall yet be fertile -
Spring sap runs as stirs your manhood
Bless barren earth, bear fruit again!
The Bard/Green Man speaks to Maiden:
BARD/GREEN MAN
Snow-shoes striding, hail swift Huntress!
Wild one, free and willful Goddess
Bow and blade you bear beside you,
Finding food to fend off hunger -
Winter will not leave us wanting;
Give good hunting, grant us skill.
The Old King moves to the West. The Crone moves to the North.
HP
Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!
OLD KING
Yet I shall go into a trout.
With sorrow and sighing and mickle doubt
And show thee many a merry game
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!
CRONE
Trout, take heed of an otter lank
Will harry thee close from bank to bank
For here come I in the Lady's Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!
The Old King moves to the South. The Crone moves to the West.
HP
Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!
OLD KING
Yet I shall go into a bee
With mickle fear and dread of thee
And flit to hive in the Lady's Name
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!
CRONE
Bee, take heed of a red, red cock
Will harry thee close through door and lock
For here come I in the Lady's Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!
The Old King moves to the East. The Crone moves to the South.
HP
Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!
OLD KING
Oh, I shall go into a hare
with sorrow, sighing and mickle care
And I shall go in the Lady's Name
Aye, until I be fetch-ed hame!
CRONE
Hare, take heed of a swift greyhound
Will harry thee all these fields around
For here come I in the Lady's Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!
The Old King moves to the North. The Crone moves to the East.
HP
Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!
OLD KING
Yet I shall go into a mouse
And haste me unto the Miller's House
There in his corn to have good game
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!
CRONE
Mouse, take heed of a white she-cat
That never was balked of mouse nor rat
For here come I in the Lady's Name
And -thus- it is I fetch thee hame!
Crone walks to Old King and takes his hand. He falls as if dead.
HPS
Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye Her Song has fetched Him back!
Summer's gone, the Lady reigns
And Winter has returned again!
Maiden wets her hands with water from the Cauldron, and sprinkles it on the Old
King, who comes to life again.
OLD KING
Cunning and art I do not lack
But aye Her Cauldron will bring me back!
The Crone and Old King shall join hands, facing each other, and say:
Note: These Norse style verses were taken from a file I got (I think) from Paul
Seymour. Don't know who author is.
CRONE
One-eye, Wanderer, God of wisdom,
Hunt-lord, hail, who leads the hosting!
Nine nights hanging, knowledge gaining,
Cloaked at crossroads, council hidden.
Now the night, your time, is near us -
Right roads send us on, Rune-winner.
OLD KING
Every age your eyes have witnessed;
Cauldron-Keeper, hail wise Crone!
Rede in riddles is your ration -
Wyrd-weaver at the World-tree's root.
Eldest ancient, all-knowing one,
Speak unto us, send us vision!
Here the HPS should say:
HPS
We remember our dead; our loved ones gone to the Summerland before us. Give them
peace and joy.
ALL
Blessed be!
If there is time enough, the HPS and/or a selected member(s) of the coven
should read aloud the "Roll of Martyrs." The reader shall say:
READER
Never again the Burning Times! Let us remember our dead, good and bad, innocent
and guilty:
Follows is the Roll of Martyrs. This may be read aloud, or may be placed in
written form upon the altar as the above words are said.

HPS
Let them have peace.
ALL
Blessed be!
Here ends the Samhain Mystery.
A normal cone-of-power may be raised, for growth and healing:
HPS
In a ring we all shall stand
Pass the Power, hand to hand.
HP
As the season turns again
Power flows from friend to friend
HPS
Pass the Power, hand to hand
Bless the Lady, bless the Land
HP
Bless the Lord, and bless the Skies
Bless the Power that never dies!
The above four verses should be repeated three times, or as many times as
needed, and the HPS shall then say:
HPS
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree:
Let the Power flow out and free!
All should release, at this point.
Any needed coven business may be transacted here.
The Circle is opened:
HPS
Thus I release the East and West
Thanks to them from Host to Guest
Thus I release the South and North
With "Blessed Be' I send them forth!
The Circle's open, dance we so
Out and homeward we shall go.
Earth and Water, Air and Fire
Celebrated our desire.
We think of those in Summerland
Who dance together, hand in hand.
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
Our circle's done; and Blessed Be!

COVEN
Blessed Be!

All spiral dance out from the Circle, led by HP and HPS.

How To Prepare Your Home For Winter

How To Prepare Your Home For Winter

Each Fall the squirrels gather acorns and nuts, filling their nests in
preparation for the coming winter. This year, while
observing nature, you will notice the squirrels have started gathering food
sooner that usual.

If nature gives any indication of the coming seasons then like the squirrel, we
too, should start getting prepared and be
ready for the coming season.

Being prepared increases our sense of security and can help to make difficult
situations go by smoother and with less

distress.

Use the following four steps to prepare yourself and your home for adverse
winter weather conditions, emergencies or

the usual wintertime power outages.

Stock your herbal/first aid medicine cabinet.

Sometimes it is impossible to get to a doctor, whether because of extreme
weather conditions, no transportation or

an emergency situation requiring immediate attention.

Having a supply of herbal remedies for times of sickness and emergencies is
important. If these situations should arise you
will be able to respond immediately instead of needing to make a trip to town to
get medicine or waiting for a doctors

appointment.

Stock up on remedies that treat colds, flu, coughs, skin wounds, muscle wounds
and intestinal upset. For a list of tried
and true remedies that you can add to your home medicine cabinet go to:
http://www.naturalfamilyhome.com/medicinecab.html

Herb books are an important resource to own. They can help you make informed
decisions concerning you and your families health
care. A list of my favorite herb books along with descriptions can be found at
http://www.naturalfamilyhome.com/herbalhealth.html
Also important is a First-Aid manual. They are indispensable for knowing how to
deal with accidents such as broken bones,

electrical shock, concussions, etc. Take a first-aid class. Most hospital's
offer community education first-aid/CPR classes at

reasonable prices. What you learn could save a life.

Aztec Poem, from Florentine Codex

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:57 pm (PDT)

On the way to Tula, there was a mountain
called Coatepec, the hill of serpents.
Coatlicue lived their, mother of the four hundred gods.

She was sweeping one day, in her house on Coatepec,
Coatilcue was sweeping, and she swept up
a little ball of feathers, a little bit of plumage.

She bent and picked it up, and put it between her breasts.
She kept on sweeping. When she finished, she looked
for the feathers. She found nothing where she'd put them.

And she found she was with child.
~Aztec Poem, from Florentine Codex

Pregnancy and birth are mysteries as deep as death. In many myths and legends,
including the primary narrative
of Christianity, pregnancy occurs by a miracle. A woman steps in a magical
stream, and find herself pregnant.

A woman walks by a rock where spirits dwell, and one comes inside her to make
her pregnant. These stories capture

something of the powerful mystery of conception.

We are, each of us, here because of the joining of a cell from our mother's body
with one from our father's. Thus we
have all partaken, at the moment when we came to be, of this great mystery. No
matter how common the experience,
however, it remains emotionally unfathomable. How truly, did we come to be? Each
of us, a unique individual never

seen before on this earth, is a miracle. And for each of us, our conception was
miraculous.

Today's Goddess:  Isara Scorpio Begins (Various Locations)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Oct 21, 2010 9:01 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: Isara
Scorpio Begins (Various Locations)

Themes: Creativity, Sexuality, Passion, Instinct, Fire, Energy
Symbols: Scorpion or any other stinging hot items

About Isara: An ancient Mesopotamian Goddess Sara is known for fiery nature. The
Syrians specifically worshipped her
in the form of a scorpion when they wished to improve sexual prowess or passion,
In other traditions, Sara judges
human affairs fairly but firmly, and all oaths made in her names are sacred.

To Do Today: In astrology, people born under the sign of Scorpio are said to be
creative, tenacious, sturdy and sensuous,
often internalizing Isara's fire in their sign for persona; energy. To do
likewise, enjoy any hot beverages
(such as coffee with a touch of cinnamon, for vitality) first thing in the
morning. This will give you some of Isara's
fire to help you face your day, both mentally and physically.

For those wishing to improve interest or performance in the bedroom, today is a
good time to focus on foods for
passion and fecundity. Look to bananas or avocados in the morning, olives, dill
pickles, radishes, or licorice sticks as a snack, beans as a dinner side dish,
and shellfish as a main platter. Remember to invoke Isara's blessing before you
eat. And if you can find one, put the image of a scorpion under your bed so
that Isara's lusty nature will abide in the region and you can tap into it
during lovemaking.
