Combine All Your Energies
October 26

Color of the day: Black
Incense of the day: Ylang-ylang

On this day in 1825, the Erie Canal opened, connecting the Hudson River to Lake
Erie. In a busy life, it's difficult for us to remain connected body, mind, and
spirit.

To reestablish a connection to our spiritual comfort, bring together a blanket,
a pillow, and sandalwood incense. Light the incense and lie down, covering
yourself with the blanket. As the grounding power of the scent fills you, go
into a deep relaxed state. In your mind's eye, see your body surrounded with
beautiful colors. From your head, see clear light shine out and combine with
the colors surrounding you. From your heart, see a wonderful green color come
out and combine with these colors. Feel all those energies combine in an
ecstatic dance and feel the energy of your combined self. As you relax, feel
that energy merge in your body. Rest with that connection until it is time to
return to the here and now.

Elder's Meditation of the Day October 26

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 26, 2010 3:36 am (PDT)

Elder's Meditation of the Day October 26
"It seems that if Elders can feel that you are open to learning, they are more
than generous with their teaching."

--Chief Councilor, Lenard George
There is a saying, when the student is ready the teacher appears. If the Elders
sense that you are ready, they will help you see and learn new things. Most
human beings love to share what they know with people who are excited to listen.
If you are talking to someone and you feel they really aren't listening, you
won't want to tell them much. Before you go talk to the Elders, examine your
motives - are you really excited about listening to them?

My Creator, give me an open mind.

Past life regressions are a process that allows you to experience one or more of
your past lives by putting you into a light state of hypnosis. This allows your
subconscious to remember back to a life time before the one you are in now. You
may see, hear, smell, or just know that you have experienced what your mind is
accessing. This can be a wonderful tool to help with issues in this life time,
helping to understand behavioral problems like phobias, or even picking bad
relationships. Past life regression can also just be an enjoyable way to see
what we've experienced in past life times also.

My first wife and a couple of others made small Craft Altar kits. They have small candles, found small incense burners, even my wife's Athame was a small letter opener. They could fit the alter equipment in a small box to take where ever they went.

I also had a friend that made Dreamcatcher earrings. He had a parakeet and used the small feathers that were shed for the feathers at the bottom of the Dreamcatchers. He made the catchers out of silver wire.

has anyone ever had a premonistion about how they are going to die? I actually believe that I had a one about a year ago. I woke up with in a panic, I dreamt i crashed into the back of a semi just as i slammed into it i woke up but had a feeling like that is how it is going to happen so of course knowing that i cant change it, Im very careful driving around trucks. I was behind a truck and my suv didnt stop fast enough this morning and I almost slammed into it. Thank Goddess I stopped but it reminded me of my dream.

Oh my.. I had a vision of my own death as well.. Quite different though.... Basically, in my vision, my throat was clawed out.... Though I had a friend explain it to me, it still worries me.... Definitely the divine were with you the morning! Rejoicing in about life can make it easier to forget death and that's how I overcame a lot of my fearsBlessed be dear!Anissanight

DailyOM - Looking at What We Don't Want to See
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

October 26, 2010
Not Alone in the Dark
Looking at What We Don't Want to See
The things we don't want to look at in ourselves are the very things we need to
look at.

It is one of life's great paradoxes that the things we don't want to look at in
ourselves are the very things we need to look at in order to know ourselves
better and to become more fully who we are. The feelings that make us want to
run away are buried treasure full of energy and inspiration if we are willing to
look. These feelings come in many forms, from strange images or snippets of
information to recurring dreams and feelings that rise up seemingly without a
reason. Whatever shape they come in, and no matter how scary they seem, these
messengers bring the information we need in order to grow.

When we are tired of pushing something down, or trying to run away from it, a
good first step is to write down what we think we are avoiding. Often this turns
out to be only the surface of the issue or a symbol of something else.
Expressing ourselves fully on paper is a safe way to begin exploring the murky
territory of the unconscious. The coolness of the intellect can give us the
distance we need to read what we have written and feel less afraid of it. It
helps if we remember that no matter how dark or negative our thoughts or
feelings may be, these are energies shared by all humanity. We are not alone in
the dark, and all the gurus and teachers we admire had to go through their own
unprocessed emotional territory in order to come out the other side brighter and
wiser. This can give us the courage we need to open the treasure chest of what
we have been avoiding.

Within the parts of ourselves that we don't want to look at, there are emotions
that need to be felt. Unfelt emotions are stuck energy, and when we leave
emotions unprocessed, we deprive ourselves of access to that energy. When we
feel strong enough, we can begin the process of feeling those emotions, on our
own or with guidance from a spiritual counselor. It is through this work that
the buried treasure of energy and inspiration will pour forth from our hearts,
giving us the courage to look at all the parts of ourselves with insight and
compassion.

From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wiccan
This week we're talking about some pretty big news stories -- a brewery responds
to complaints about an ad, a woman is accused of discriminatory statements
because she wants a roommate with a similar faith, a school is asked to end
pre-game prayers, and a family blames voodoo for all their woes. Also this week,
we're discussing political candidates who don't understand religious freedom.
For some fun stuff, the Quidditch World Cup comes to NYC, and the Dead Sea
Scrolls get digitized. Have a magical week, and watch for Thursday's special
Sabbat edition!

Brewery Responds to Complaints About Labels

Last week, the Internet Pagan community caught fire with word of a microbrewery
that had a beer label featuring a woman being burned at the stake. Naturally,
many people were upset about this, saying it was in poor taste and highly
offensive. One of the objections was the fact that there are still places in the
world where people really are being put to death for practicing witchcraft.
Spearheaded by Vicki Noble of California, hundreds of people wrote in to tell
Lost Abbey brewery what they thought of ... Read More

Civil Rights Complaint Over Christian Roommate Ad

Sometimes, I read news stories and all I can think is "What the heck are people
thinking?" This is one of those times. So this story is regarding a case in
which a Grand Rapids woman posted an ad in her church saying she wanted a
Christian roommate. Someone saw the sign and reported it to the Fair Housing
Center, which then filed a complaint with the Michigan Department of Civil
Rights. Now the woman, a 31-year-old nursing student, is accused of making a
"discriminatory statement" by requesting a ... Read More

Does Your Candidate Understand Religious Freedom?

When I was in fifth grade, everyone in Mrs. Curry's class was required to learn
the first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States - those ten
amendments which comprise the Bill of Rights. These amendments impose certain
limitations on the government itself, and guarantee specific freedoms to
citizens. There are other amendments, all of which are equally important, but
those first ten we had to learn inside and out. To this day, I'm pretty well
able to remember most of them, if not the specifics, then at least the general
content. Which is why I find it thoroughly baffling that at least two
political candidates recently have publicly demonstrated a clear and fundamental
lack of understanding of ... Read More

School Asked to End PreGame Prayers

The Chattanooga Times Free Press writes about Soddy-Daisy High School, which
just got a letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation "calling the
Christian prayers heard over the loudspeaker at football games and graduation
ceremonies an "unconstitutional government endorsement of religion." The group
cited several court decisions in which prayer at school sporting events and
graduations was found to be unconstitutional. Naturally, some residents are
miffed about this. One parent said, "People who find Christianity contrary to
their beliefs shouldn't be offended that [Christians] have the freedom to
express their religious beliefs." Read More

This Week's Spell
Merry Mischief Meditation
by Gail Wood
To reclaim the harmless merry-making of days of yore, go into a meditative
state. You find yourself in a clearing at the edge of a forest at nightfall.
There is a big bonfire and people are dancing all around it, laughing and having
a good time. You can hear drums, fiddle music, and singing. The rhythm catches
you and you feel a song well up inside you. You begin to sing along, and one of
the dancers reaches out and pulls you into the dance. You enter
wholeheartedly. Finally, the music slows and you walk slowly up the path,
singing your song. Breathe deep and return to the here and now.

Apophyllite

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Apophyllite
by Stephanie Pflumm ©Copyright 2002

Technically Apophyllite is the term for a classification of phyllosilicate
crystals. There are two to four (depending on the reference) crystals within
this group of hydrous calcium potassium sodium fluorsilicates, a complicated
chemical formula that creates a fairly complex crystal.

Fluorapophyllite and Hydroxyapophyllite are the primary crystals identified
as Apophyllites. These two crystals have only slight variations in their
fluorine to hydroxyl ions. Natroapophyllite (an extremely rare brown
crystal) and Carletonite are the two other members of the Apophyllite
family, though not all references mention these two. The chemical variations
on these stones is much greater than with the fluora and hydroxy
Apophyllites. They contain aluminum and are much stronger and harder than
the others.

However, when the vast majority of people talk about Apophyllite, they are
referring to the Fluorapophyllite and Hydroxyapophyllite and that is what I
concentrated my research on. Besides, that's who I found the most
information for.

Apophyllite is one of the most unique crystals in the mineral world. The
crystal grows in a series of alternating sheets of silicate and potassium,
sodium, calcium, fluorine and water. These sheets are interconnected by four
and eight member rings that form an unusual four fold symmetry. It is this
growth pattern that creates Apophyllite's signature diamond face. Most
crystals work with patterns of 3 (6, 12, etc) and their terminated faces
tend to be pyramidal with three sides. In addition, the crystal will also
grow in cubic, flat tabular, granular and compact formations. Sometimes
uneven points give the illusion of being octahedral.

Crystals normally form when magma and other hydrothermal solutions reach
such high temperatures that everything in the area melts. Apophyllite grows
in much lower temperatures. It still forms in pipes, lenses and other
basaltic and volcanic rocks, but long after the initial cataclysm, when
things have begun to calm and cool down.

India has a well deserved reputation for producing exquisite Apophyllite
specimens. Prehnite, Stilbite, Okenite and Heulandite crystallize under
similar conditions and are often discovered with beautiful Apophyllite
formations growing on them.

The US and Canada have also produced their fair share of Apophyllite.
Incredible, glass-like crystals have been found near the Copper mines in
Michigan. The stone is also available in Scotland, Brazil, Germany, Japan,
Mexico and Iceland. Water clear and green colored specimens are the most
sought after. White, gray, yellow and red are other Apophyllite colors, and
the rare brown Natroapophyllite. Some Fluorapophyllite specimens will glow
in the dark.

Apophyllite's name comes from two Greek words, apa and phyllon. They mean
off and leaf. Because of its high moisture content, when the crystal is
heated, the different layers will "leaf off" as water evaporates.
This leafy quality make the crystal almost unusable as a jewelry stone, but
it is very popular for its spiritual strengths.

Apophyllite is an important crystal for practicing astral travel. It
provides an anchor to the physical body while the spirit explores. Knowledge
that you access during your travels will remain imprinted on your conscious
mind, allowing for easy recall. For these same reasons, you may want to
carry the crystal on Vision Quests.

Use Apophyllite as a meditation tool, it can stimulate and open your Third
Eye Chakra when you place the base of the crystal pyramid on your brow. The
crystal opens pathways to guides, spirits, angels, faeries and allows you
easy access for channeling.

As a companion crystal, Apophyllite attracts joy into your life, keeps your
heart light and open. You'll see life with a bright new perspective and gain
trust in your ability to do what is best for you. You will learn to
recognize the perfect truths in all things, to better see the imbalances in
your own life and how to correct them.

Just as the galaxy spins and rotates every day in perfect trust of the
divine plan, this crystal can teach you to live your life with the same
perfection. A planet has never doubted its path around the Sun, your path
was designed with the same perfection, allow that trust to be a part of your
daily thoughts.

There were very few healing recommendations for Apophyllite. One reference
did mention that an elixir brought rejuvenation and new energy to those
suffering from lethargy. It definitely provides relief from stress and can
ease aches and pains brought on by the trauma of stress. If you've had any
healing experiences with Apophyllite, I would be very grateful if you would
share them.

Intending Path Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:12 pm (PDT)

Intending Path Spell
Incense of the day: Musk

With the Moon waxing in Aries, now is a good time to set your intention to
start any new projects or tasks. Good intentions are the foundation for
helping a project to be successful. Whatever your aim is, spend some time today
thinking about why you are doing it and what the outcome will be. Then find a
special red stone such as garnet, ruby, or carnelian that you can wear as a
necklace or put in your pocket for the next few weeks. At night, light a red
candle and briefly warm the stone over the flame. Visualize your project and
your intentions, and state them out loud. Then ask for permission from the rock
to store your intentions and to remind you of the path you have chosen.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Shoulder Pain

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Shoulder Pain

Eucalyptus oil is an effective analgesic and is often used to relieve muscle,
nerve and joint pain.

Apply a massage oil to the affected area before a warm bath, then massage the
area again after your bath.

I like a blend of Lavender and Eucalyptus for even better results.

When massaging small areas like a shoulder you can double the amount of
essential oils used.
ex. 20-30 drops per 1 oz. carrier oil.

Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:15 pm (PDT)

Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1 tablespoon olive or sunflower oil
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon curry powder

Scoop seeds from pumpkin, spread on a baking sheet and remove pulp. Blot dry,
but do not rinse.

Combine the oil and seasonings (use the above or experiment with your own
combination) and seeds.

Spread on baking pan and bake at 250 degrees for about an hour or until seeds
are lightly toasted.

Be sure to stir occasionally.

In the past I also have seasoned with seasoned salt or dry Hidden Valley Ranch
dressing mix.
But we're trying to cut down on salt here.

PUMPKIN BREAD

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:24 pm (PDT)

PUMPKIN BREAD

The pumpkin belongs to American culture and therefore carries no European
magickal history. The pumpkin is considered feminine, ruled by the moon, with
its element seen as water. It's magical associations are protection and
abundance of the harvest. Without a European connection, we have no European
deity to fairly associate with this wonderful vegetable, though I'm sure any
harvest deity would be amicable to the association.

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (fertility and money)
1 1/2 cup sugar (love and passion)
3/4 tsp. salt (protection)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (spirituality and protection)
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg (luck and health)
1 cup canned pumpkin (abundance)
1/3 cup water (cleansing)
2 large eggs (fertility)
1 tsp. vanilla (love and mental prowess)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (health and wishes - will counteract a fertility
spell)
Confectioners' sugar

Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. In a different bowl,
combine pumpkin, water, eggs, vanilla, and oil. Mix well. Ad dry ingredients
slowly and beat thoroughly. Stir in nuts and pour batter into a greased loaf
pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 75 to 80 minutes (but watch your time as different
ovens may lengthen or shorten required time). Cool 15 minutes before removing
from pan. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Makes 1 loaf.
